According to this article, Japanese Budget Airlines are going to accept bitcoins this year. They declared that later this year we can now enjoy flights without bringing our wallets but our bitcoins in our smartphones. As part also of their new innovation they have installed BTMs or Bitcoin ATM on the airport for the convenience of their customers. With this we can expect an increase in tourist visits to Japan.

This next big move from Japanese government, this take the bitcoin value to big and usage around the globe also have the better chance to become a globally recognized money to every places.

It seems that japan is loving bitcoin and they are all having a good income with bitcoin and they are starting to fully implement bitcoin to their country and their airlines already accepting bitcoin. I was planning to take a vacation on japan and this really caught up my attention. Altho i have sadly converted my amounts into fiat rightnow. I am just curious if they have an online flight reservation

Out of curiosity, how about the confirmation which needs to arrive? Is it just accepting zero-confirmation just like some bitcoin payment gateway do?. The average confirmation needs about 15 minutes to arrive and probably some people still have some time to wait for it until the plane's landing, but, how if the fee is just not enough and the transaction get stuck?.

3 practical issues i see

1. budget airlines = people not wanting to spend too much = why would they agree to a $1+ fee and wait ~10minutes-48 hours
2. many credit cards these days (if you avoid the normal domestic (country locked) ones do not charge much

locking funds into an LN is like locking funds into a contract with a second party (research multisig) you might aswell just use credit cards, bcause of all the cludgy crap core have done to push people into thinking LN is the utopian savour by removing all the benefits bitcoins mainnet had over fiat/cards

At this point of time that method of payment using bitcoin was not yet launched. They are still on the process of making it successfully integrating it in their system. The post that I made was just an initial announcement but let us wait for the official launching of bitcoin into their system since they will announce it to the world. Unless you have the same wallet that the transaction should be instant (or almost if not) so they will not wait for minutes that is limited to the wallets that they provide and this is more applicable to immediate flights like let's say they needed to book the flight same day as when will it depart. Also maybe they will make it applicable for flights reserved one week before which will surely arrive to the company's address and book flight after. Or maybe if there is no other way then they will just use the fiat they have.

That's what you expect from anything belonging to japan, great innovation and I will definitely try my best to give it a try, it's perfect for airflights to pay with BTC, and it would make reserving much easier and less complicated than regular TX's. Plus confirmation wouldn't be any problem IMO since you would pay a long time before the plane actually flies toward the destination.

Considering to try them just for that, in what countries do they operate and will bitcoin be accepted in all their branches and planes or will be restricted to certain places and locations or the like.

They recognize a value of bitcoin and trying to implement it in all day activities of all people. It is a simple way to pay your fly ticket. Also making people to think and use much more a bitcoin as their method of payments. And of course; where first then in Japan.

When I had read the news that japan would definitely accept bitcoin I was thrilled on what kind of things they can surely do with this kind of technology and I wasn't wrong about it and this kind of payment was already implementing little by little not only with their merchandise but paying with their transportation now, and with these lot of transactions happening we can surely hope that bitcoin would still riser and make it to the speculated $3000 value mark that has been stop to $2700.

This is not a surprise considering the mass adoption of bitcoins by the Japanese. Tx confirmations need to improve for retailers like airline to be comfortable accepting bitcoins in short notice , otherwise I for see them refusing it as payment,  if the delays continue at the current rate. Despite a volatile past week, in which it fell by more than $400 in a few hours on thursday, it still rose on the day, Thanks to the Japanese and South Koreans.

Yes indeed, not surprising to begin with. They have put bitcoin as legal tender in their country so it makes sense for Japanese that want to travel to used bitcoin as alternative to Yen. What will benefit here is bitcoin enthusiast like us who are going to travel or may have used Japanese airlines to used bitcoin as mode of payment for the tickets. I think retailers in Japan will not complain about the increasing transaction fee's since again its legal tender for them.

We all need more good news for Bitcoin because for every establish that is linking with Bitcoin it can represent a vote of approval and usage for this currency. And now that one of Japan’s largest discount airline providers Peach Aviation Ltd. has announced it will be the first Japanese service to accept bitcoin for airline tickets will really skyrocket the cryptocurrency world positively. Just my random guess. There's no way someone could make double spend if they're paying for the ticket in the airport, they just have a small amount of time and to do the double spend, there are some requirements need to be done. Otherwise, if online payment is available, the airport themselves could simply enable 1 confirmation as a requirement. Things like double-spend will be solved immediately.
and one more thing, you did never hear any double spend cases because no one is going to leak the cases to the public just for the sake of few dollar or yen.

That is great, Converting your bitcoin to fiat is not my type, I prefer these kind of payment. I also want to visit Japan though I don't want to bring a lot of money with me, but with these I can visit Japan without opening my wallet. Not necessarily. Just because a Company is multinational doesn't mean that it can adopt the same policies worldwide. The same Japanese airline might not be able to implement this policy in China, because it would run foul of local regulations.

The thing that worries me about vendors accepting Bitcoin is that they are likely to immediately transfer it to fiat at market value, therefore pushing the price down and creating volatility. This volatility then makes it less likely for more vendors to adopt Bitcoin. It also makes those vendors that already did, less likely to continue accepting it. Bitcoin has a volatility problem which is, ironically, limiting its growth.

Wow this is a great news, I haven't seen this article yet at cointelegraph. Japan is very serious with bitcoin, I guess the factor that the creator of bitcoin is a japanese name. They are now trying to recognize it this way and this is a good adoption, this means that Japanese people or those people that will use JBA will use bitcoin that can make the demand higher.

One question, All the airlines of Japanese are accepting Bitcoin or some of them?

Take a better look, Japanese airlines to accept bitcoin soon. They still didn't, probably they are thinking about it, to accept btc or eth haha, just kidding, I think this is normal next step, their government legalized bitcoins now their companies need to process all that and customers to use services and pay in bitcoins.
Months are passed from legalization in Japan, do we have some members here from Japan? It would be nice to hear some news from the first hand, to read what ordinary people there think about bitcoin, and is there many shops and stores that accepts bitcoins now. Do they have customers? I'm very curios to hear all this.

Good news is always good. I hope this will give push to other airplane companies to offer bitcoin as an alternative payment way.

It's clear to see that they do really have future plans to adopt bitcoin for better and they are now trying to implement it.

And with this acceptance and adoption of bitcoin to Japanese Airlines is not that an easy thing as people / customers need to adjust.

But for the whole bitcoin economy this is a very positive news.

There is no requirement for the average consumer to adjust to a company accepting Bitcoin as long as said company still allows for the consumers to pay in fiat money and Bitcoin at the same time. If there was a requirement to pay solely in fiat then there would be some changes required for the "average" consumer, and it would likely hurt their business models. It is good for the Bitcoin economy in Japan and it will encourage some Bitcoin economic activity within their country, something that is great for them. In the long run, anyways. Might be weird in the short term for the companies to get used to the other source of income, and have it translate into revenue effectively.

That's very Good news I think. And I support it. It will be too good for people.  The other country should allow bitcoin for paying.  The future of bitcoin is bright.

It is a good news for us that many countries are now accepting bitcoin as a mode of payment. In that case we can go wherever we wanted as long as the country is accepting bitcoin. Hoping that other country will might as well accepts bitcoin as a currency that they will recognized.

It is no wonder that Japan will accept bitcoin for fare on airlines.  They are into technologies and the genius behind bitcoin is a Japanese.  They are open to technologies and ease of life.  Perhaps I have to start saving more bitcoins because I want to visit Japan someday.

Japan is making very important steps in terms of the legalization of bitcoin and digital assets. If they mature their steps, the rest of the World could follow them causing a new digital era in the world.

I keep surprised why the others countries hasnt yet legalized bitcoin, the fees they can collect will help the countrie, while they are getting nothing at this stage from the most bitcoin traders and holders. yes in fact they are business minded and creative minded people, they are now going to adopt bitcoin for so many other purposes. most of the companies will be using bitcoin as their payment method. i am sure that after japan so many other companies will also start accepting bitcoin as legal currency. they will also adopt bitcoin, in fact bitcoin is the need of the day.

When it comes to advancements in the technological sector, Japan is light years ahead. So it comes as no suprise that they are one of the first nations on Earth who are openly "Bitcoin friendly".

I think I only see Japan as the first country to really embrace bitcoin. Therefore companies in Japan will also have to accept bitcoin as mode of payment. Example is JAL. There will be big companies from Japan that will follow suit as well. Probably in the next months we well see another big companies from Japan will come out and accepts bitcoin as payment.

Another country that will also embrace bitcoin is Australia starting July 1. Japan is a highly industrialized country which means technology is very advance. Soon Japan will see the potential of other altcoins especially that bitcoin is also facing some trials.
