The asics are already moving in, with some miners pulling 3-digit MH/s while GPUs are closer to 3 digit KH/s.

CPU mining scrypt coins is pretty much a waste of time. You won't even make >100kh/s unless you have a really good CPU, and trying to anyway just wastes the pool's resources.

What the heck though. I've moved my miner to this to give it a chance. Its one of those that is being done all wrong and that's exactly why it will go big because of the attention it gets that way.

Have talked to devs and here's what's coming down the pipe:

1. Listing on bigger exchanges - By next week, Chancoin should be on Coinexchange. Discussions are in the works with Yobit too. They basically want 0.5 BTC to list it, so they're getting together the cash to bribe the exchanges.

2. Plugin that allows tipping from a dropdown menu on 4chan - This is working right now, but still needs some debug/testing before rollout.

3. Official website - chancoin.org - is being worked on and will be released shortly.

4. The 30% premine the devs have are being locked away/burned/airdropped in differing percentages. Devs are active with this coin and want it to continue rising in value, so they are working on exactly what amounts to do what with, but should have a clear roadmap for that by next week.

TL;DR - Next week is going to be big for Chancoin. Get in at 2600 sat now, last time you're going to see such a low price.

I think coinminers.net is forked. Their hashrates do not match the network hashrates, and in some hours of mining there I am not seeing any earnings at all.

Might actually be a good thing, since they're pulling >3GH/s on a coin network that the wallet says only has ~4GH on it. Too close to being able to 51% for my liking.

lpool.name is working even if their site doesn't always work. Not sure yet why that is, will do some testing.

Coinminers.net is not forked. I've just checked all transactions and everything seems OK. Diff is high and only 8 blocks/hour (average) can be found by mining... so if your hashrate is low, that can be the reason for not getting any payments.

Apologies for the lapse in updates - its been a quiet week, and I've been busy working at my daygig. Here's dev news!
- Andy (that's CHANCOIN) is working on getting us onto Cryptopia. He has been in contact with other exchanges as well, not 100% sure on which ones so I'll leave it there. Also, vote for us on C-Cex - https://c-cex.com/?id=vote. - Andy offers a 5 chan bounty on each vote
- Meta is still on vacation - he's been quiet so I trust he's been enjoying himself, as he should be. Good.
- Leeves is working on BLACKJACK! And some other things. But BLACKJACK!
- Leeves and Edgar are also working on finishing the roadmap, which we will put on bitcointalk and our site, and everywhere else we can think of.
- The site is changing - I'm going to do the work tonight, but nameserver switch means the new site might not propagate until tomorrow.
- I'm also working more on the user portal, wallet, developer API etc proof of concept.
- Edgar is inspiring some amazing memes.
- I plan on fleshing out our trello board with a ton of stuff tonight, if I can get to it. The link to that should be on the website. If you can't find it, just ping me.

- Theres a lot more work that needs to be done - I'm working on the first draft of a development roadmap right now. That's going to take some time, I'm afraid, but I hope to present a draft to the dev team by the end of the weekend. At the end of the day we want to improve the ecosystem, make it easier for anons to get started developing for chancoin, and make the currency more attractive.
- I'll be distributing coins for the competition shortly.

On to the results of our dev meeting today:

Basically, this should mitigate the effects of difficulty fluctuations. Since Metagame is the one implementing this and he's on vacation for the next week and change, the dev team will be relentlessly renting hash power in the meantime to keep the blockchain moving smoothly. Good morning - the posting is off to a roaring start today (or tonight for most of you in Yurop or Dingoland). I've got some meatspace (real world) things happening today but here's the skinny on whats happening:
- CHANCOIN returns home from vacation! Not that it will help to dispell the myth that we are the same person.
- The dev team has a conference sometime this evening (July 8, evening US time, July 9 AM AUS) - we're going to discuss a lot of things, too many to list here, but the upshot should be efficiency gains for the team and clarification on a few questions we need answered to move forward with some of our projects.
- I spent last night getting a bunch of cloud infrastructure set up for the project. We've managed to get a lot of cool projects online (dice, discord bot, website) but we have yet to consolidate our infrastructure, so hopefully this will allow us to do so - to the extent that the other team members wish to do so at present.
- Meeting topics _will include_ the issues with blockchain speed, so don't worry.

This coin has a little meaning, there are several exchanges in a short time, although the current popularity is insufficient, may have the development space in the future, attention.

For me, the name and branding is strong enough for this coin to do pretty well. As long there isn't too much pre-mine nonsense or inactivity we can expect to make good gains.

Hey people, chancoin dev here. Just a quick update for those of you who aren't following along on our discord:

- As the project's founder was lying to the dev team about the amount of pre-mine he held (he claimed 1.2 million, reality was closer to 3 million) we decided to hard fork and freeze his funds. This resulted in a power struggle which ended in an eventual compromise - but not before the founder dumped close to a half-million coins on exchanges. Hooray. Currently we are working to complete the fork, get all the exchanges switched over to the new wallet etc. We will be posting a detailed-as-hell postmortem of the whole situation on our website, hopefully within 14 days at the very most.

Subsequent to this hard fork, we aim to verifiably burn down to 10% premine, or as close as we can get. Then we'll implement DGW and we're even working on a brand new PoW algo that we're hoping to introduce in the future :D

Lets be real here. We all know 4chan is a big deal. A chan coin is a long time coming and its surprising it has not come up before in the past. There is a lot of vested interest in this coin and it would be in the best interest of the DEV TEAM to deliver. If they do not deliver someone will step in and they will. This coin is LOW RIGHT NOW very cheao. we are only on the 7th page of the bitcoin talk. I would say this is a safe investment. Maybe not go all in but a GREAT addition to my portfolio. The meme magic alone can get this coin to 1$+ In the current market we are in. I mean we see OBVIOUS scams reach 50 million dollar marketcap. If devs deliver in 2 weeks this coin will do very well. the-doctor I can advise you only to wait, as we are currently working with Cryptopia to resolve the situation and ensure all coinholders coins are safe - as you can imagine, exchanges have their hands very full right about now with the BTC fork.

I will say that your question as asked in chat didn't give us the context that the coin had been abandoned - I recall seeing the post when you made it and thinking 'well that sounds nefarious' - and then it disappeared when a mod banned you.

Unfortunately my mods deleted the post history when they banned you - I've asked them not to do this and I'll ask them again.

In any event, you're welcome to join the server again if you wish, and apologies for the confusion.

With respect to reviving the coin you mentioned in your post - its a good question indeed - you might want to talk to some people involved in PIECoin, as I believe the codebase has been revived recently - I'd certainly be interested to hear how the effort goes.

As for the saga of Chancoin's Hard Fork From Hell - we will be posting a thorough post-mortem as soon as everything is resolved with exchanges - and as soon as time allows us to compose and edit it.

Hello - sorry again for the delay in posting - a quick update re: Cryptopia and the other exchanges.

We were in active contact with Cryptopia support as of Thursday. They've officially asked us to remunerate coins lost or frozen in their wallets during the hard fork. They provided an estimate which our senior dev team member asked that they verify by ensuring the wallet is updated, reindexing the blockchain and checking their balance against customer holdings. Once this is done, we will remunerate them for any coins lost.

We are attempting to do the same with Novaexchange and Tradesatoshi. Novaexchange has not responded to several emails. Tradesatoshi - well, I opened a ticket with them, which they apparently didn't read because they closed it with a bunch of bullshit about how we forked 'for some reason' (it was right there in the issue you turds) and how we must come up with 'some solution - the same for all exchanges' (yeah that was also in there dude). I penned a response telling them to read the damn issue...

...Sorry. Anyhow, thats the situation.

Obviously our efforts are focused on Cryptopia - and our only focus is ensuring that coinholders maintain ownership of their coins. I really wish that I could give more details, but that's all I know.

We're hopeful that we can work things out with all three exchanges and that all three markets will reopen soon. Ultimately, however, this is up to the exchanges and whether they wish to engage with us to resolve this issue.

Hey people apologies as usual for the lateness of my update here - I know this is the primary avenue for news for most of you.

The coin is still going strong (at least, we think it is) - We're actively working with Cryptopia and the markets _will_ re-open and no coins will be lost.

I've recently received word back from novaexchange as well, so we'll be working with them shortly. Tradesatoshi is...well, tradesatoshi. When they feel like getting back in touch with us we'll help them update the wallet.

Finally, CryptoDAO - someone actually USED cryptoDAO to trade so I'll be getting in touch with them to make sure everything's accounted for - honestly we'd forgotten that we were listed there. Oops.

There will still be a full post-mortem of the fork process, outlining all the insanity that occurred, where we messed up, why we made the choices we made, etc. - but it may be a long time coming. All of the dev team are currently very busy with other life pursuits so major updates (that includes DGW) will have to wait until certain dev team members are free - but we do anticipate being able to stay largely on-track with respect to the roadmap.

Cryptopia market is back open! Just wanted to let everyone know, I won't be issuing a lengthy update on the state of the project in this post.

We've paid cryptopia the full amount they specified to remunerate all coin holders - so everyone's coins are safe. We have tested some withdrawals from our accounts and community members accounts on cryptopia and the withdrawals have worked, but for now please test any withdrawals from cryptopia by sending a small amount first. We do not expect there to be any problems but in the event that there are we want to be able to work with cryptopia to resolve them.

Thanks to everyone who has expressed interest in this project despite its many problems and false starts - I hope that our work with cryptopia to get the market back up demonstrates our commitment to doing right by investors. We still have a lot to do to make sure the other exchanges' coin holders are taken care of, and of course we want to do the fun stuff we came onboard to do (developing features!) but re-establishing trust after the revelations which lead to our hard fork is the top priority.

Please feel free to address questions to our dev or mod teams in our discord (link on our site, chancoin.org) or here, though I can't promise I'll be able to write as complete an update as I'd like to within the next few days.

Just another quick update - as some of you may know, trading on cryptopia is re-opened!

We're very happy about this, however we still need to sort out things with the other exchances. Nova's admins have been very helpful and actively in-touch, and Tradesatoshi has deigned to respond to us now that Cryptopia is trading again. We'll do our best to ensure remuneration of all legitimate coin purchases on their platforms.

I'm hoping now that I and the other team members can begin to focus on making fun tools and features for the community now, however we still have a great deal of work to do to wrap up the Forkageddon.  I'll try my best to keep everyone posted here, however remember that our discord is generally the center of the community. You should be able to find a link on our website (chancoin.org) however be advised that we constrain new members to a single channel until we're sure they are not trolls - we've been dealing with some insanely persistent, petty and hilariously unimaginative trolls for the past couple of months, so we've had to lock down our chat server. But we'd love to have any newfriends who are legitimately interested in the project, developers or just fans.

An update on development priorities, exchanges and a call for interested developers

Hey everyone, just wanted to update you all on a few things:

- We're working with novaexchange and hopefully we can have the wallet update finished up there by the end of the week, beginning of next if at all possible.
- One of our contributors has written a bot which rewards dubs, trips or quads on /biz/ threads with chancoins. Right now it only works when a specific thread is made for airdrops so if you're interested in using it, hang out in the discord and hopefully you'll be able to catch one. I hope to improve and expand this bot soon.
- We hope to have an alpha version of our Developer API/Web Wallet soon. At first we'll likely limit access to community contributors.
- Once we have a basic alpha test candidate of the platform API, we'd like to integrate it into the browser extensions so that users of the tipping extension don't need to have a daemon running locally to give tips.

Finally, any node or ruby devs who are interested in contributing their skills, please PM me here or on our discord. Even if youd prefer to work on your own idea rather than part of our roadmap, we'll do whatever we can to help you get started!

A short update on development progress:

Just a few bullet points before bed for me:

* I'm working on the developer API/web wallet account system API and hope to be able to open it up to a couple of testers in a week or so. I'm developing the API against a discord bot framework that I've been wanting to work on for a while, so hopefully I can extract that out one day soon as well.
* Our wallet dev is setting time aside to work on an update that'll have at least one, and maybe two cool new features. Maybe more if I have enough free time to get my hands into the wallet codebase.
* One of our members in the discord made a simple but really cool bot that allows users to deposit coins and use them to tip other server members. Its pretty much just a toy at present but it works great.

I'd also like to bolt a static-site-generator type blog onto our site this weekend, and I want to draft some community guidelines and get them on the site so we have something to get feedback on and iterate over vis-a-vis community decision-making processes, wallet update timeframes, etc.

We hope to finish up our work with novaexchange next week so trading can resume there. I'd say 90% confidence we can do that, 99.9% confidence we can do it by the end of the subsequent week. By then hopefully TradeSatoshi will respond to our last email. We'll see.

It _is_ a holiday weekend here in the US so I stand a good chance of getting at least a fraction of one of these things done. In the meantime, please feel free to post questions or concerns here or come on into our discord - we've had a lot of trolls over the last couple of weeks so if you come in with questions please bear that in mind and be polite.
