Just days ago, predictions and projections were pointing to the possibility that Bitcoin can be able to clobbered the $5,000 mark and it did happen. But what followed was a big correction due to massive sell-off (profit-taking is the possible reason here which is nothing alarming actually) and so we are now back almost at the $4,500 - $4,600 range.

However, since Bitcoin had already broken the $5,000 wall, it would be now easier for it to do it again this time. We just don't know when can that be...will it be tomorrow, next week or just within the month of September?

This is completely unknown to us. Bitcoin is so volatile that even the most experienced traders cannot model it accurately and predict the outcomes with high hit rates. However, i think that most likely we will break $5000 this month.

Main reason is that people is still looking to profit in btc, even though the dump has occurred there is still a lot of people saying bitcoin will rise by $2000 this month and whatnot. This optimism is ill-advised but imo will translate into greens for btc.

But after it hits $5k i'm not bullish at all. I think that would be the bull trap, and people will pull out very soon after $5k is breached. That could mean the end of the bubble, potentially.

Wow, did we just really reached $5,000? I wasn't aware since I've got busy these past days but that's good to hear. We can't blame people if they got excited about that and started selling out especially the traders. I think we can achieve that price again within this week. And maybe we'll be at 5500 to 6000 by the end of the month. Thus, taking us to $10,000 by the end of this year.

I think its better to predict price will be over $5k again by end of this year. Yes you are right, as massive wall at $5000 is already broken it will be easier for price to get pumped over $5k level again.

Profit taking is normal and I have read somewhere that more than 10 billion dollar worth of bitcoin was sold off to take profit which is massive but dip was not big which shows strong buy support above $4k region.

The pumps shouldn't be over just yet. Bubble is going to keep going as it seems because if it were crash, it would have crashed completely at this dump. But the floor couldn't be broken at $4600 so now we are back up to $4700.

Definitely going to retest the $5000 later this month, probably next week actually.

Well, i think so. Bitcoin prices are most likely in my opinion will reach $5000 again or even exceed it. A slight decreasing on current price movements, i think this is only temporary and will moving towards higher again next.

There might be many upcomming bubbles. So it might end some day but there will always be next pump. No matter what the price there will always be another price target. Every payment made in btc is stagnant but how it increase in dollars are really what matters to most users here. Probably there will be 7K. increase in the month of september and there will also speculations on 10k. So i guess this price increase is just normal for btc.

Nah. I think it's going to retest the resistence lines at $4400 and $4200 in the next week. And only if it manages to stay above $4000 will it try to retest $5000 again.

Just Wait the possibility is very high it surely will make it up to the $5000 mark value, we can really never know when the value will go to that value another time so soon no one can ever predicted it but you can surely make a speculation regarding that and right now even if bitcoin is having a dip, the price is surely continuing to push up ward so have a positive faith with bitcoin.

Getting bitcoin over $5000 is pretty easy, all it takes is a medium sized pump, really. And even though the resistance seemed strong from this current dump i think that we will still hit $5000 this month, potentially even in the next 2 weeks.

However whether it stays above $5000 is another problem.

I'm genuinely worried about this bubble popping very very soon. Hopefully it doesn't, but when it does it's going to be catastrophic. If the next pump results in a big dump like this one then it could really be the end of bull markets for a long time.

This is not really a "bubble" that will pop eventually. Bitcoin has been always like this, increasing steadily then jumping from X dollars to XX dollars overnight then dropping back down. But after that dropdown, it will continue to increase, normally. We can expect Bitcoin to be stable about $5200 levels (what I am speculating here) in a few weeks if not few days. With transaction fees dropping thanks to SegWit, I don't see a negative reason not to have that price increase.

Bitcoin has not actually broken the $5k wall on most exchanges. There were only a few exchanges based in asia that had this barrier broken and that was because of a illiquid currency being used in trading with bitcoin.

On bitfinex, the ATH was around $4970 and similarly on other western exchanges.

Anyways, i think that we will definitely be breaking the barrier soon. It would most likely happen this month. I'd say give it a week or two to recover and then we could potentially see another pretty big pump coming up to push us over $5000. I just don't know if there are going to be as many profit takers as this time to drive the price down as soon as we hit $5k.

Segwit pricing was locked in ages before it even got activated because people anticipated it to happen. Even in the scenario of transaction fees dropping i think that a price level so high up is not going to sustainable, unless if we get a few big companies to gain interest in bitcoin and start accepting it in for their services.

You were around in 2013, right? This is a similar kind of thing. Price is going to be up overall compared to the start of the pump, but it's going to be a pretty big dump when it happens. 1000% in a year is not sustainable. i just don't think the bubble has peaked yet.

No. It will be sustainable as long as there will be some new investor joining with us. You will be never able to compare with what happened in 2013 if you are ready to consider the environmental growth of bitcoin's system. Those 2013 rally ended up in bursting just due to the collapse of at that time's only one crypto-to-fiat exchange. But the supporting things are completely different at present times.

You cannot expect any major crash in coming months to year as there are enough investors are eyeing for lower prices to buy. Whales are also losing their power for the same reasons.

First of all, no exchange of any significant importance had hit the $5000!!
And secondly I can not see any big or massive sell off. We've seen corrections of 25% in the last few months. And now we were barely at 10%, depending on the exchange you're looking at. Bitcoin and cryptos are still very volatile. The guys who are in this space for a few years now know this and got used to it. Such dips are opportunities to buy more or are entry points for others to get in. But definitely no reason for a panic. So chill out! Sooner or later we will go for 5k and break it. The exact point in time (september, october, november, december or next year) is irrelevant imo.

it is pretty simple: price goes up then it comes down. then up and down again. it is not a "massive sell off" every time price comes down just because you had a price in your dream that didn't last as much as you like it to last.

the same way it brought it down to $3500 on 22nd or $3100 on 9th or $2400 on 26th of last month.

The part that i highlighted. This is true with anything of course, but what if people seizes to buy? Have you ever considered this? In every bubble people say that this is something new, and as long as new people join there will be fuel to keep the bull wave going. The investors that are eyeing bitcoin prices so that they can buy the dips will essentially disappear when people start panic selling.

Sure, there isn't a scenario like 2013 where one exchange dominated the market but in a bubble, everything is fragile. Now i think that the bubble is going to continue to go up for now, therefore i think btc is going to breach $5k again. But i'm just saying, you can't expect bitcoin to keep doubling in price every second month, and stay up there.

For sure this month of september the price of bitcoin will back again to the 5000 dollars. So you can buy a lot of bitcoin but be careful invest only you can afford to lose.  Yesterday the price of bitcoin reached 5000 dollars but it will back again the 4000 dollars plus and as of now the price of bitcoin is 4600 dollars and for sure this week it will increase more and we will see again 5000 dollars.

Reaching $5000 by the coming days is not a big factor, because we already came close to $4950. For the correction purpose the price fell low to $4500 and once again the price is fluctuating within certain price points. The sustained growth is taking place and will reach $5000 at the earliest.

I really dont know how I missed the point of achieving the $5k mark and it would be something I would be happy about to have seen it happen in my own very eyes but all hope is not lost because I know for it to be achieved means its very much possible. I hope bitcoin could reach $5000 next month. I already sell out my bitcoins after bitcoin exploded up to $4900 i've been waiting it for a long time right now im waiting for another dump and then buy bitcoin and wait till bitcoin price reach $5000 in that case i can make another profit as a trader. it's not that easy to be a trader all you need to have is a guts and take a risk.

Maybe in the very far future some fork of Bitcoin can reach $5000 again, but with all the upcoming drama and regulation it's highly unlikely. Your best bet is to get your money safe while you still can, this drama and panic is only going to get worse for the foreseeable future.

Ya I agree with you. In a week the price of bitcoin will reach 5000$.Today the cost of bitcoin will get back to 4500$ due to some factors. It's a lot of chance for bitcoin to reach such a value and more than that. I suggest you to hold your bitcoin and give some breath. If the price increase means you may sell at that time.

Because in past days, after the price of Bitcoin increased to $5,000 (or near this price) other altcoin breakdown normal, however when the price of Bitcoin dumped to under $4,300 on Poloniex exchange, altcoin market also cannot recovery.

Absolutely, I would be buying more bitcoins today as the price is going down and this is a perfect opportunity to really enter the ecosystem with good price because its likely that bitcoin can go to $5000 again. Although some would be really disappointed to see the price going down after a run that we have about a few days ago. But hey, this is expected. $5000 has been the new wall now that has been put up so resistance is very strong. However, instead of panic selling, everyone should be in panic buying so that we can accumulate more. Traders have cash out seeing the price going to $5000 we understand it. But I would also like to say that hodl would be a good option as well. If you don't need fiat I advise you not to sell but to buy more bitcoin instead in this kind of dip.

the declining bitcoin price in a few days is indeed a natural thing because bitcoin has a very rapidly changing price fluctuations. the price in my opinion is still in a very safe range, so buying some bitcoin is not a disadvantage. look at the future prospects that bitcoin prices are predicted to increase again even above 5000 $. we will see a more steady rise after breaking 5000 $ and this will continue to reach the 6000 $ limit, I think it will continue and we should go to a range of prices that might be called a safe bitcoin price limit.

This month is for breaking 5k on all exchanges. It will be tested several times this month. Reason is to see if the price can be maintained above 5000 per one bitcoin, if this proves to be good speculation then we can move on speculation will price of bitcoin even go above 7000 by this years end. Or it will be broken and set to go down in price after hard fork in November.

As long as there is no established support on a higher level like 4700 and above, it can be considered as a momentary spike and did not broken the resistance at all. It can still test that level in the near future though. but now the price is still going down,  so it may take more time before it goes to that level again.

The correct question would be "When will Bitcoin break $5,000 again?". There really is no stopping Bitcoin. We surely could see Bitcoin retracing for months or even a year and longer. However it's extremely unlikely that it wouldn't eventually flip back into a bull market and stampede the $5,000 target.

Don't forget that the market cap of Bitcoin (and cryptos in general) is extremely low considering the potential value. There's little to no doubt that Blockchains will revolutionize most aspects of modern human life in one form or another. It's just a question of when and how (e.g. will governments support it or try to bring it down and thus shoot themselves in the foot).

This was extremely likely to happen before this correction came along and painted the whole crypto market in red, essentially. I'm not sure about whether it is able to hit $5000 right now due to the updated regulations regarding crypto investing by the chinese government. Honestly i'm not fond of the majority of ICOs at all(the few that gets the most media attention are usually complete BS, and the actual good ones are never discovered or even have an ICO), but it means a lot to traders and speculators.

I think that we will recover to around $4500 before another bear wave puts us to the test. If $4000 can hold up then potentially we can settle at around $3900-$4200. But otherwise we may be looking at $3000-$3500.

This is a totally standard procedure, in fact, you can always count that people will sell off their coins when Bitcoin exchange rate will hit another 'round' number like $5000, $6000, $7000 etc.
If we know about this then we could use it to your advantage, wait for the another price threshold is crossed and then buy back coins people will sell.
No one will tell you for sure when we will cross $5000 again - one is certain, with this barrier reached people will realize that there is still potential for more, and will go even higher next time.

It didnt actually break 5000 dollars price as far as i remember it did only reach 4912 or more but didnt reach 5k which means theres really a strong resistance on that price and now the price did dip again and going back on 4200 price again and this is the time we should really watch out on bitcoins price and be alert on setting up buy orders. We wont know if the price would dip even more.

I wouldn't call this a "massive sell-off" yet. We could see the price drop much more as part of a correction or dump. But the price will eventually go back to $5000 and beyond. A correction right now should be expected after the huge increases lately. I would look at this as a time to think about buying more Bitcoins or altcoins.

Nobody can predict or time the market. However, we're have seen 5k price, that in it's self is a good precedent. We should see more of that in future.

You can't just assume that the price won't drop anymore, especially not when things are still unclear about how everything will play out when it comes to the hard fork in November. I by that time expect quite some fud to pop up all to feed the uncertainties that come with such events. In order to reduce the potential uncertainties, we'll need miners to distance themselves from something they initially agreed with -- F2Pool has done it already, but we need more miners to follow.

Confirmed here mate based of the price personal price monitoring I had, there's a bigger potential that nearly $5000 has a possibility to be achieved since price now is continually uprising after fluctuations did happen lately. The people doesn't really care for the rumors and negative taught, all they wanted is profit and long term investments is the greater way to make it. They don't dump unless their goal isn't achieve and no reasons to do it such us emergency spending is not that needed, they will continue to hold their assets.

yes it is right to say that the price of bitcoin still not cross 5000$ and it lost about 900$ in a day, which is a big decrease but i think that the price is now again recovering its position and hope that very soon it will reach to 5000 may be even in this week it will reach to 5000$  and hope that even after that it will continue increasing and will hopefully cross 6000$ in september.

$5k is seriously possible for Bitcoins but not sure about this month because it's such a level that everyone was looking for, and I have seen many times that once a level gets reached, Bitcoin goes stable and plays near that level but doesn't cross it for ~2-3 months. But bitcoin has broken many records as well as superstitions about it this year, so it is really not possible for anyone to predict when will 5k be seen but not just 5k, we are now heading for 10k (as being hyped by many big whales who have invested in Bitcoins).

After a couple of days bloodbath, it looks like that bitcoin has recovered and on the way to $5000 again. I agree, this price would be a bargain for the next coming months. We may hit even $7000 at the end of the year. But first once we hit $5000, I would like to see how this price is sustainable. Unlike you I expect that bitcoin price would be stable to this price in a week or two. I think it will still not rise because it has just finished correction so it will take some time before it really shows another fast upward trend. Otherwise we would be seeing another correction again back to 4000$ from 5500$ if it happened too fast. Therefore we wont see a very big price increase in the next few days but we rather might see it next month or after 3 weeks.

People who have sold their bitcoin will buy back again which cause the price slowly increases. It can be and it will be actually. Bitcoin loves to make down and ups, it's coded in its body. It can never stay in the same position. Money makers, manipulators, all the big traders make the price move a lot. That's how they want to make profit. It will be 5k $ again within 1 month at most.

Bitcoin saw 4970 USD but couldn't break 5000 mark and obvious thing happened. Yesterday we saw 3900 USD and bounce back harder. I think Bitcoin will try 5000 USD at least 2 more times and if it can't break again I expect a fall to 2000-2500 USD. But if it breaks 5000 USD I expect 8000-10000 USD. Exciting times ahead.

Yeah, that china news is punch the bitcoin price so hard yesterday. Luckly it's not that really big and the price going back and increase again to $4,500. I'm not sure we can reach $5,000 but i predict the price of bitcoin can reach $5,000 before the end of the year. I hope we will get some good news about bitcoin soon not bad news like yesterday.

After the fluctuations of bitcoin price happened this few days, I have my doubts now but I'm strongly opposing it as I am still believe that price dip won't happen again this remaining months. If the current price still holding at number bitcoin $4500, then all the big traders who make prices move much. Already looks like the price is recovering and this is only the proof that this wasn't some dramatic dump but correction that was usual for volatility process. There is big chance to get to the 5000$ soon and it seems that Bitcoin goes through various issues (like this one with China) faster and with less consequences than before.

Remebering what happened, the recent hardfork happen last month of August, the success of the fork made Bitcoin's market value gone skyrocket that it reached the 4000$ mark in just a short period of time. And in the month of november, there'll be another hardfork which may be the factor that will cause Bitcoin to reach or even surpass the 5000$ mark after the fork, since the same thing happened in the last hard fork.

For the fact that btc touched $5000 before is a confirmation that it can again and its one the surest thing anyone can ask me and even looking at price not too long ago it shows this is certain to happen anytime soon and even some exchanges are taking the lead to ensure it happens that way. Lets hope and this time, its not only going to reach $5000 but will surpass it with ease.

Expect it, there will be a leap but I don't have a strong source that it will be "huge". The sequence has always been like this, after the pump it will be followed by a dump and so on. Buying time is done as we are up to $4,500 again but if you're targeting and you have a strong belief that it can go up to $5,000 you can still buy today.

You are totally right,  it would be now easier for it to do it again this time. Bitcoin climb close to 5000$ and the last to days it's trading around 4800$. I think bitcoin may jump fast again and cross 5000$ mark in any moment. Who would know that bitcoin will be such successful?! We talked about those people who became millionaires with bitcoin's help investing in this newbie in the most beginning, and we talked so the time when bitcoin reached 1000$ point. I just feel pity cause of I didn't invest in bitcoin at least the last year when I had money for buying a house, I am counting now that I would get 3-5 times more money and I could buy much better house ::)  

This month is test for this price cuz I have some feeling that even 7000 is reachable for this year, not be over optimistic and saying even this month.
5k is easy hit and score and this will be very good ni just month but this year for us all. Price is going up and down and so far Im trying to use this to my advantage and take some addition coins and its working so far. But think that we are to see another up and down for this weekend before price goes really above 5k this month.

There are two sides to the $5,000-coin, so to speak.  Getting up to that level again may indeed be fairly easy, especially given how well the dips continue to be bought.  However, as with any attempt to make new highs, you're going to be fighting the people who bought in at the previous highs and are praying that price returns there just so that they can break even.  Those people will most likely sell as soon as they can so they can rest easier, applying downward pressure once we reach that level.  The other thing to keep in mind is that the up-swing from Aug 22 through Sept 1 was much weaker than the up-swing from the beginning of August to Aug 17, which indicates that the market may be losing momentum.

I'm not awared with this. I didn't know that it already reached the 5000 dollar mark this month. As far as I know, the highest market value that Bitcoin reached is 4800 dollar and it is the highest value Bitcoin had sincw its existence. But it is possible for Bitcoin to reach the 5000 dollar mark by December and it will be because of the fork that will happen in the month of November, because the fork that happened last month of August made Bitcoin reach the 4000 dollar mark, so things are expected to happen again.

With the current situation, specially the news coming from China, it seems to be that we need more time to be able to get to $5000 again. What makes you think that it will hit to $7000 in the end of September? As far as i can see the price is not moving upward in the past few days, it is moving downward guys. Can't you see it? I think bitcoin will hit $7000 after November or in December. Since the hard fork doesn't occur yet and there's another possible that the split of coins will going to happen and there will be another alt coins will be made.

Right now, I think everything depends on what happens with the news out of China.  We did recover quite well after the news of the ICO ban, so I don't think that's too much of a concern in the longer term.  But the real question right now is about China's bitcoin exchanges as Chinese trading and bitcoin ownership make up a decent chunk of the market.  Participants appear to be waiting to see whether China is going to do anything about existing cryptos.  If they do, for example, ban bitcoin exchanges, the price is likely going to crash hard.  If official news comes out saying that they aren't going to do anything negative, I think we'll see a quick rally up to the $5000 area and possibly beyond.

I am positive that this will be possible to happen again, because current situation can be arranged and negotiated with china government. Maybe the bigger whales of china will organize certain discussions of this banning, but we must be looking forward to it and successful result will come out in the end. However this not a new issue about fluctuations and I think there is something to do with the china's bitcoin holder in order for the price to go down and in the future rise of price their holder will benefit again specially their people.

Please be careful that you try to understand why price reacts to different events the way it does.  Don't just assume that because the price jumped after a fork before that it will jump after the next one.  Now, I'm not going to claim that I know for sure why the price jumped after the last fork.  But from what I've read and understand about cryptos and bitcoin, I think the market was already "planning" to go higher at the end of July.  It seemed to pause to see if the bitcoin cash fork was going to happen and if it was going to have a negative impact on bitcoin.  The fork happened, and after a couple of days, when it was pretty clear that the fork wasn't going to hurt bitcoin, the rally resumed.  My point is that we might get a rally after the next fork, but we may not.  Unless there's concern that the fork will mess things up, the fork probably will not cause a rally.

Today the price of bitcoin is 4250 dollars because thats the effect of the chinese not use cyrpto currency and they started to sell their bitcoin. I'm hoping that China doesn't ban bitcoin--it doesn't seem very likely that they would outright ban it.  But if they do, the Chinese are going to dump like there's no tomorrow because for them there would be no tomorrow.  If China shuts down all of their exchanges, it's going to be much harder for the Chinese to turn their bitcoin into yuan, and there are a lot of people, especially the miners, who are going to want to get out immediately.  I could see a scenario like that being worse than when Mt. A few days ago there had been a decline in bitcoin prices. Now these rates are at 4200 $, it may take a few more weeks to reach 5000 $. I think the bitcoin price is never reach $5,000 in this year and yes the highest peak is around that $4,700+. My prediction is the price of bitcoin can reach at least $5,000 in the end of this year, we never know actually but if there is not something bad happen, so we can reach $5,000.

However the real winner is that banker Jamie Dimon after what he has been saying about bitcoin, JP Morgan quickly bought a lot of it during yesterday. He was able to manipulate us, and the market reacted from all the negative things he says about bitcoin. But behind all of it, JPMorgan has secretly buying specially when the price hits below $3000. But at least we have uncovered one big entities working from behind manipulating everything for their personal gains.

Chaina closed trading with BTC, and down the crypto currency markets. Japan is an interesting country. so we hope the crisis will move next year. if japan take an step another country will come back. than BTC prise will be rise to 5000+.

Btc has recovered well in last 24 hours. Its trading now at 3700$ already and the next target should be reaching 4k mark and move upwards following it. Nah, I do believe that it's possible to happen if you had witnessed 2016's ending year the price increased too much after December. Why not? Once the China effect wean off, I expect Bitcoin to touch the $5,000 per coin level. Anyway, in November we are going to have the 2 MB block size implementation. Before I observed that when bitcoin's price is pumping, alt coin prices will be dumped but now it has changed.
