Let me tell you 2 unexpected coins  ;). IOTA and CREA projects are the hidden gems for 2018. these 2 coins will make a few people rich next year.

I think the most valuable coins of 2018 will be SNT, 0x and ICON.

Kyber, 0x and Loopring. Whichever can deliver quickest and differentiate will take the biggest piece of the market.

Probably golem is going to be a gem in 2018, i can see it touching $2 by the end of 2018, i really believe in that, and i support them a lot.. only that it has been in bearish for a few weeks, but i still love golem, and its name is so pretty, i like those guys. the same with 0xproject, i like how are they making their project works, the price is slowly rising but it is still quiet, they will shine on 2018.

Have you looked into investing into coins that offer masternodes?

Off the top of my head you could look at Masternode, VIVO, Interzone and newest being PURE (which actually hasnt fired up their masternodes yet)

I think Shift is strong. Definitely still a sleeper but could be huge if devs can deliver on the roadmap.

I think coins that connect bockchains to business on an enterprise level will be the big winners of 2018.

A coin that seems poised for breakout imo is XRB. Similar project to IOTA and once distribution is done only the sky is the limit I believe

Well lets see here. Neo is a new coin (or at least newly-rebranded coin) that’s defiantly got a decent future based on how it’s been pumped lately. Monero is probably going to get a decent pump at some point or another (it seems to be mirroring what it did when it went from 40$ to 120$). And then of course Bitcoin and likely ETH are both good to hold.

if you are talking about long term holding, then kyber is a good option. It is still recovery from the dumping from ICO right now. Funfair is another one that i believe will gain traction if the team follows the roadmap.

QTUM, RChain, and ICON are solid HUGE gainers for 2018.

A really nice and hidden GEM for 2018 is ardor! They are still under the radar and they doing some great stuff in 2018. Waves is also a good buy for 2018, theyre going to be huge with their waves-ng this month. Its a great longterm invest!

I really think that there are no way to think what might be the best coin to hodl for 2018 as far as I am concerned, it is really based on many things including world events related to crypto and public acceptance compared to this year.

I'm just dropping by to point out that if a token is an ICO that has made millions at crowdfunding phase then that's far from being a 'gem'.  ICO's are mostly overbudgeted projects with usually unqualified devs.

On top of my head, examples of gems that became successful are Monero, Decred (imho) and NEM.  They were undervalued and often overlooked.

I would say KORECoin has a huge potential in growing big.

Still low marketzcap but very promising dev-team and many updates / announcements. New wallet in Oct 14th.

Alright, you’ve peaked my interest; I will have to check out KORECoin at some point. Based on the ANN thread it seems to be another DASH like coin with some decent developments and a re-branding soon, so I am guessing that it will be pumping sometime soon. I will do some research and then might just buy a bunch.

What KORECoin makes also unique is, that they implemented the wallet within the TOR network, running TOR masternodes, offer KOREBAY which is a way to shop at a decentralized market. This could be huge because the DarkNetMarktes suffer from centralized markets getting shut down by lawenforcement. The biggest Darknetmarkets had daily trades with around 400million $ per DAY. Vendors and also buyers are frustrated because of centralized markets making exitscams or getting shut down so they lose a lot of money.

With KORECoin this problem would be fixed, so I bet KORECoin will have a very big future because it's the only coin that combines everything you need if you want to stay anonymous. The currency, the market, the anonymity. No need to mix, no need to worry about making mistakes because it's a all-in-one solution.

...and being serious, a very big part of cryptocurrency was and still is used for darknetmarkets.

Yeah, people have such short memories. I'm getting so irritated by tokens and alts that aren't even a shade of their ICO funding in market cap, have missed deadlines on development roadmaps so often they get away with publishing a brand new website and get featured in some obscure crypto conference. From talking about tech and partnerships pre ICO, now they're talking about getting listed and reaching X price in some number of months.

Consider Bitcoin's early budget and the zero budget of most early good alts. And consider the millions taken in by ICOs. You are absolutely spot on. Gems they are not. Wasteful efforts and poor results.

FunFair is another very cheap alt coin that will explode Q1 2018.

i think LISK will be major 2018 player. Upocoming rebranding and SDK realease in end of 2017. Asia tour and solid project will bring lots of new buyers in 2018. I predict LISK at 9.99$ at the end of 2017 and 30$ at the end of 2018. Thats my conservative prediction...

I can definitely recoomend SONM. I think supercomputing is gonna be a big thing in the future, it's going to be so much easier for all of us to access processing power and to general work by getting a lot of input/output from a network of many computers, the best thing about all of this, is that it's going to be both cheap and accessible. Simple by owning a token of SOMN for example, you'll be able to utilize it to get real work (value) done or created and that will translate into monetary benefits. The more monetary benefits people will have the better the price of SOMN will perform in the short and long term. Comparing it with the other teams, I think SOMN is by far ahead and their concepts have been quite advanced which I really like. Community engagement is great as well. About the rest of the coins, I've never head about them so I can't give you any feedback.

SONM playing weird. The holders has around 300% loss in terms of BTC compared to its ATH BTC value.

Let's see what this promising Russian team achieve next weeks! It needs better exchanges first. Liqui is very trashy. Binance is very good with its high trade volume. But there is almost no trade in HitBTC interestingly.

SOMN is interesting, they basically want to create a supercomputer by having several nodes connected to one another, this will help people "lease" computing power and do all sort of things (graphic designing, rendering, difficult calculations that require a lot of processing power, statistical models etc.) it's a great sector to be involved in but there is so much competition from other coins that are offering something similar, SOMN has in my opinion come a bit late to the party and it might find it difficult to gain some of that market share. It is however backed by a capable team and they do seem like they know what they are doing/talking about, I'm overal optimistic about the project but would closely monitor the competition if I was holding a significant stack.

I'm going with LINK. I think now is a great entry for long term HODL and once it moves it will moon. Also Waves should finally make some movement although it's not that "hidden".

Qtum, IOTA, Golem, Pivx are few of my top choice for 2018 but I'm assuming bitcoin price rises as well. else my opinion might change a tad bit.  :D

Neo can also cross $50 in coming year but we'll see. Currently I'm more worried about end of the year crash.

Yea, I agree with ChiNgadOr. If a new coin rises quickly it's bound to fall quickly soon after, because most all new coins have nothing but hype to back them up (yes there may be a few coins that have something special but the vast majority don't).

My top choice would be Neblio.  It touched the cmc top 100 for a bit but then fell off and I would consider it hidden still.  They’re already ahead of their roadmap and should have a huge year in 2018. 

Pegascoin (PGC) is going to soar. Their Depository on blockchain system test went smoothly, next month the entire system will roll out.

It's not really hidden but amazingly undervalued still...its STELLAR XLM!!! This is going to be huge in 2018.
Recent news of collaboration with IBM is just the start. It has real world use case and there is serious momentum gathering behind the scenes here.
Of course, do your research and follow it closely. It has had a few small pumps recently but for 2018 I think this one is a no-brainer (as much as there can be a no-brainer in crypto!!! Haha)

There is a pyramid of hierarchy in cryptocurrencies that is now widely accepted in the industry.
The foundation consists of mineable coins that have their own algorithm, blockchain, widespread community and functionality (like store of value).

The truth is that ETH and LTC are going to be huge for P2P Transactions.
But I see INC going places as it would disrupt traditional retail supply chains. 

I'm betting huge on Spectrecoin (XSPEC).  Privacy coins are the wave of the future, and Spectrecoin has some of the most robust privacy and anonymity technology available.

There are only around 21 million in circulation, yet the price is still well under $1.  This is not likely to remain the case for long.

This is one coin which should easily reach $5-10 in 2018.  Even then, it will still be undervalued, imo.

Keep your eyes on ethereum, you see what happen to the BTC fomo rally, I am sure it will happen to Ethereum in the near future, maybe during the first quarter of 2018. Ethereum is going to release a lot of news and update, the price is already at 500$. I am sure it will be at 1000$ soon maybe before end of the year

I don't think you can still call ethereum a gem a gain, he must be looking for coins like NEO that move from less than a Dollar to $50, that is more than 50X return, project like DNT 13X in a month, Ethereumis close to $500 even at $2000 it is just 4x ROI

The biggest issues with almost all crypto is getting mass adoption and utility. Binance really does answer all those questions. I've pitched Binance coin to a bunch of non-crypto people and I've yet to have a single person who isn't ready to jump on it. They are in their testing phase for decentralized exchange. In my opinion, Binance marketcap is still very small compare to other useless crypto like Dogecoin or MonaCoin

One coin that isn't a hidden gem but is going to have a good 2018 is TenX. A coin that is kind of hidden as of late that will also have a big 2018 for me is Mothership. Also in general I think altcoins will have a big 2018 because given all the money that has come into the market recently I think BTC dominance will ease up a bit in the new year but those are my front runners for doing best.

I'm glad more people are spotting and talking about Xtrabytes these days. I saw its potential from the beginning. What people don't understand is that its basically EOS but before them on development, better consensus system completely unique and is only 20m MC compared to 2billion for EOS and EOS hasn't even finished making more coins yet. XBY is the easiest ROI there is at the moment.

I think there are 2 somewhat hidden gems for 2018: Aventus and Hive. These coins are partnering up and opening their way. Their general development teams are awesome and they ptarget real life use.

For me it's IOTA, Ripple, and Einsteinium. Consider IOTA alone with just $4.30 per token and ridiculously claims the 4th spot in the cryptoworld as to market capital with $11,962,208,888 just next to Bitcoin Cash which is really a good sign that this altcoin can be a diamond just starting to shine.

Neither ETH nor EOS is hidden gem. You may call them undervalued but not "hidden gem".

I do think that ETH is really not a hidden gem. For me it is not even a gem as it does has its own issues. Though compared to bitcoin, this would be much preferable for me for its low transaction fees. I also agree when you said that Ethereum is undervalued. It needs more investors.

Take a look at WINGS! They are going to release the Beta (Jan 2018) and the platform will be even faster. In addition, the rewards from forecasting ICOs are not bad at all. The market cap is low at the moment, this project can be the real hidden gem for 2018.

Bitcoin is a gem for all next 20-30 years 8) but in 2018 we should surprise the good altcoins..

When governments start to move to legislate against Crypto (and people realise what is happening) I would say something like XSPEC would be one to watch.

I can't see it going 100x but 10x would be fairly easy to do if it was adopted as a darknet currency.

I don't follow block-chain based exchanges but I would also say IFT which acts as a single pane of glass into potentially normal exchanges and block-chain based exchanges would also be one to watch.

After a year of development and more on the way.....interested investors should  put part of their folio in SpectreCoin [xspec]

I'd still go with the coins that I've been recommending for months now: Mothership (MSP) and Ubiq (UBQ).

Why Mothership? It's a coin for an Estonian-based token exchange that will come in 2018. In their roadmap, they listed that the Beta version of the exchange will go live within three months from now, that means Q1 of 2018. If they really deliver their promises, it'll be huge IMO. But will they deliver as promised? This is where the speculation begins ;)

If now IOTA is reaching with the uncompleted wallet, and the 80% improves not implemented yet, in 2018 IOTA will be a rocket.

SpectreCoin (XSPEC) seems like to be a good investment, just wonder about all the spammers on this forum. I checked the past posts of a few guys and they only post about XSPEC. Obviously several members try to influence the opinion about this coin. Is there something wrong with it?

XSPEC has not been promoted much for months, I think the team are trying to address this so there will be much more posting activity in threads like this one regarding XSPEC. In short there is nothing wrong with XSPEC, I think the original ICO dev team (now gone) did not do the project favours after ICO and ZCash/Monero took over the concept of privacy and made a better overall job of marketing this concept to people.

As there was no-pre mine and little kept back for marketing. This has left XSPEC in a strange position of having all the technology but little knowledge in the community in comparison and no marketing funds. For now it is up to the community to promote its value - with all the positives and negatives this brings.

I don't think many of the original XSPEC ICO team are left, the original Dev team left months ago and it was handed over to people (6 months ago?) who can take the code to the next level. There are some bag holders left from the ICO however I have seen mass selling on the exchanges these past 6 weeks which has now ended and allowed for a new set of smaller XSPEC holders in. I only hold a couple of thousand.

In terms of the technology, the transparency of the code, the distributed nature of the system a - XSPEC is arguably just as good, if not better in some regards to Monero and ZCash.

By all means do your own research, I think the newer version of the wallet which is due soon (v1.4) which as well as being a GUI re-write also allows for (transparent and not scam) donation based staking which means are you stake your coins you can donate a small percentage of the staking value (note: not your coins) to the team for marketing. Version 2 will turn on stealth transactions by default.

This will be discussed of course however it was really the only fair way of getting funds back into the project for it to reach take-off speed.

One last thing - the XSPEC code looks like it will be used to launch a much more expensive coin (Tokenpay). Tokenpay is approx $7 USD at ICO launch. XSPEC is 30-40 cents. If there was anything wrong with XSPEC, Tokenpay would not be using it.

Hey guys these are some coins that I have found that have a pretty low market cap with great growth potential

- ECC with a current marketcap of 37,846,500 has shown some tremendous growth over the past week.

For me, the hidden gems for 2018 are Atlant and Icon. These coins have the possibility of becoming profitable in this year. But there are still a lot of possible hidden gems for this year.

The year will be the year of ICO, utility tokens that has use case that most people outside could relate to. But most big old time blockchian would continued exists i think .

Also, to note on new exchanges that created with ICO and with their own coins such as Binance, Cobinhood, coss, qash, or exchanges protocol providers like 0x and Kyber. They will be ready to takeover from the previous big players.

PACCoin is a revived project showing a lot of promise now. They will be upgrading the wallet and doing a coin swap which should increase the popularity with investors. While the wallet takes awhile to load right now, the blockchain functions of sending and receiving payments is very quick. The price is 1 satoshi, so just an increase to 2 satoshis is a huge gain. This is my new hidden gem for the 2018 cryptocurrency market. Even with the high total supply, PAC Coin managed to make it into the Top 100 in market cap. I feel like it will follow the paths of XRP, XLM, TRX, and XEM. You can get a million of them for not much now, if it only goes to $0.10 you have some huge gains.

Im also invested in SONM and SNT since the ICO. I believe that both of those will be winners in 2018 if their products will be released and up and running. It's been suggested a few times but I'm going to have to agree on Elixir.  First off, it is dirt cheap right now and most likely will not go any lower.  The devs are some of the hardest working in crypto.   Elixir has huge potential for mass mainstream adoption eventually when cryptos are more known.  In a year I believe it can at least 20x from the current price.

I think Tokenlab will be a gem in 2018. I believe the platform is very impressive, It's similar to Waves
 and Stratis. On top of the ICO creation it has transparency and reliability built into each project that Tokenlab allows

Look at HGT (HelloGold). I think if people plan to invest more in gold in the future and gold prices rise, this can be the connection between crypto world and gold assets. Market cap is still very low and there is high potential to grow a lot in the coming years. But of course, this is only my personal opinion, not an investment tip.

A real HIDDEN gem is CBT.  They just got listed on their first exchange Okex  and are trading around ICO price.  The ICO was very under the radar and raised only a few million.  They had some issues getting on CMC and are still working on that so it’s literally hidden.  It’s business platform with many uses such as invoicing. They’re part of the UK’s new crypto self regulatory group along with giants like Coinbase.  DYOR and thank me later.

I would like to know exactly what attracts you to this project and what hidden facts exist on different exchanges? Apparently this is only your opinion, although in some ways you are saying it right. but I'm more than sure that if the project is not famous then the coins are unpromising.

IMO utility tokens will be the coins to take off and bring more adoption from user cases.Look at the current ICO trend, most are banking on the real use cases with working portal and apps. I thought we'd see Bitcoin bob a bit around 10k before settling below 9k again but it's approaching the weekend, American markets are waking up and Asia is right in the middle of celebrations with Lunar New Year, so looks like these levels should maintain into Monday next week.

Being conservative something like ICX or ZRX will surely do pretty good, but if you are looking fore 100x-1000x, things get more risky haha.

If I had to bet on best performance of 2018, I would say Fusion. Currently with a Market Cap of $67M, if the team delivers and the succeed on landing good partnerships, I see this coin at top 10 by the end of 2018. HUGE potential IMHO. Also, hoping the whole cryptocurrency market cap does a 10x, which is possible, then FSN could do a x1000. I'm gonna hold this baby to the moon, between other projects of course. I've noticed a few people on here mention iota on this thread. I've also listened to some really intelligent people make cases for and against. My initial reaction was that it was a very interesting take on a blockchain but using the tangle network. My question regarding iota is are the double spend and lack of security allegations true and secondly could this be due to the tech being in its infancy and can it not iron out these issues and become one of the fastest performing cryptos

Iota is very controversial indeed. I think it´s an exciting techology and projects like Oyster Protcol or TheUnchainedBlock make use of the Iota tangle. Most critics complain about the wallet that is not perfect yet...I call that a minor thing.

If you are looking for good profit in the future you must first look at the MarketCap and Total number of coins. A coin with large coin supply (billions) can't grow very much in the future, not even 1$.
My choice: Masari.
It's a Monero fork, good relationshionship with Monero, only 18.5 millions total coin supply and it's still early, only 9000 sats on SouthXchange and Tradeogre.
If you count that Masari uses a weighted harmonic mean difficulty adjustment algorithm for smoother difficulty adjustment, fantastic dev which has been PR'd back to Monero you already have a kick-ass coin. It also has only ever used RingCT, has a fixed ring size of 13, and they plan on adding uncle mining and researching block tree sharding.
Fork and rebase with a lot of new features is scheduled for 1 May.

For me Tron, Siacoin, Dragon are few of the hidden gem for this year and Tron already launched I am waiting for Sia and Dragon to explode I've been bagging these coins for couple of months already.

No, it is not a hidden gem, if you are really looking to invest in this coin, then the only thing that i can tell you, is just, take care of your money. hidden gems are probably one of the reasons of why a lot of people is losing money nowadays.

If it was really that cool during the bleeding, I am sure many of its holder would be rich by now. Or may be few ones would have also become millionaire. If that is not the case, then maybe Masari is just a big talk. The truth is, it can return profit but even after this much percentage of growth, and nobody really became a millionaire. i think that i've found the best hidden gem of 2018, it's called HELBIZ (hbz) it's a token from an ico that has raised 38 million dollars, the interesting thing is that since the ico hbz has lost almost the 90% of his ico value, i think that it's an easy 10x but it can go even ighter, maybe 100x in late 2018

With a marketcap of $258 million I would also not think of Fusion as hidden, but it‘s good bet regardless and there is an important milestone around the corner, the main net release is around the corner

Agreed, If you want to find true hidden gems you need to do the heavy research yourself instead of asking other people.  That's if your looking for those very rare 1000x cryptos that are always out there lurking.

Didn‘t know Alphacat before but looks very interesting to me. I will do some more research but the post has already many good insights. Also the marketcap of far less than 1 Mio and the coin supply less than 10 Mio are two factors that should propel the price once it‘s really gets moving. The only bummer for me is that it is around already since 2014 and got only listed at one exchange, cryptopia...

My hidden gems for this year are 3  ;D i know nobody is going to pay any attention..but still for me they are gems!
The first one is HPB, they said they want to make a scalable coin similar to ethereum for dapps and that they will achieve their target with hardware accelaration chips that they will provide to their nodes..every coin wants scalability but at least they can provide information on how they will achieve it. They have announced official partnerships with okex, wbg(world bank group), Unionpay smart ( a kid company of Union pay which is handling data of Union pay and not transactions dont be confused). Even if the main net is not here yet we cant deny their partnerships which in my point of view is giving them some extra + for the time being.. Mid marketcap around 70 million $.
The second one is TTT trustnote, this is a coin using DAG similarly to byteball not IOTA or NANO and by this i mean that it has fees. They plan to implement easy to use smart contracts and make the coin minable as for now it is not. Low marketcap about 8 million $.
The last one is XXX adultchain this is a coin for "adults" similar to coins like vice ( or verge muahahahah), it is a masternode and pos coin (with privacy as well similar to pivx as it is soft fork of it great plus for adult industry ;) ) with their own platform, this platform is a marketplace to buy adult staffs and to hosting cam shows..recently they had girls like brenna sparks and scarlet raven for testing it. Very low marketcap about 700.000$.
