Title: Is Bitcoin actually just a Investment coin?
Post by: caretaker on October 31, 2017, 08:43:41 PM
I think the title says it all.

After a long time of thinking, reading and also investing a bit into Bitcoin I have to say that it looks for me that the main use is actually just pure Investment. It always looks like that everyone just talks about how great the Technology is although they secretly want to get super rich with a always raising price. Of course it's used with several shopping or daily things, but that's just such a small part of it.
During that, people who don't want to take the risk to invest call it a "Bubble" and people who don't want to lose their money just make kind of stupid speculations without any arguments.

In the end (just my opinion) the price of Bitcoin is controlled by all the media (that's hyping bitcoin and talking about it everywhere) and all the really big bitcoin whales with e.g. like 10000+ coins can actually effect the market the most. Imagine what a few people with a huge amount of bitcoins could work out together to control the market and making money.

It's just weird, because it turns this, what everyone calls it, great technology in the end just to a fully commercial object to earn money. Which would be probably also the reason why it stays and raises all the time, because it's normal that everyone wants to make a big amount of money with this little effort.

Let me know what you guys think and please don't give me this non argumented one liner like in all the other threads ;)

It is difficult to understand that but yes, actually a lot of people are introducing theirselves only to make money from it, not to take advantage of the uses of bitcoin and the whole cryptocurrencies in general.
A lot of people are only buying bitcoins to increase their portfolio's money, so i am not impressed for saying that bitcoin is just like an investment, but the main idea of bitcoin was just to be like a new "currency" only that it is digital..

You invest in bitcoin and you invest in project that is in development stage. Main use can be investment, in early
stages before project comes to an end and full capacity is the best time for buying and holding.
People use bitcoins for other things, to mention just some of them: gambling, buying other alt-coins or ICO`s,
buying/selling goods, and more. Who ever spent bitcoin now regret cause of that, they overpaid what ever they
bought. Keeping bitcoin as an investment is much more profitable then spending them.
I do not agree with your opinion that bitcoin is controlled by the media, they control some people. With spinning
news they can create rise in demand with good news or panic among people that will start panic selling and drop
in the price. Bitcoin is controlled by the people who owns bitcoins and people who mine bitcoins.

Well for me yes i am only investing and trading bitcoin and other altcoins to earn profit. Right now i do not have any plan to spend my bitcoin to purchase or pay something. Most of the people are now treating bitcoin or altcoins as investment since they are speculating that bitcoins price as well as altcoins price will go up i am the future. I know some people are still using it for payment or converting it to FIAT and in a sense they treat it as a currency. There is nothing wrong with that but i am really optimistic that bitcoin price will double or triple in the near future.

Well initially as I understand it, bitcoin was designed to be a P2P and not as a investment. But lately, when the price soars and the big boys comes and join the fun, bitcoin became as a investment platform. That's why its gonna be hard to attain it as mode of payment now because its now treated as a investment instrument by the super rich.

Just a clarification - buying Bitcoin to wait for the an increase just to sell it for profit is more trading than investing. Investing in bitcoin would be holding over the long term.

Yes, investing in bitcoin for a long time can make us rich. I think that this will be possible in a few years. And I do not understand those people who say that it's too late to invest in bitcoin

Yes of course, bitcoin has been created only to revolutionate the way of sending money, receiving, and a new way to stop banks, but people has changed that during the years, people are only investing because they see that they can be so rich just by buying and waiting some time. And i not saying this because this is what i think, i am only saying this because you can see it on every thread that talks about the price of bitcoin.
This is annoying, but anyway, those kind of people are those who keeps the price high.

Well for me honestly use it for payment processor.. because i was hard to make a document like Id's in my country that is why i use bitcoin when dealing to someone online because i can buy bitcoin fast without ID verification..
I was late to know about the price increase that i thought bitcoin just use only for payment purposes both right now you can use for investment and for dealing to someone or buy services or shopping.
Bitcoin is investment but not majority i think they are just use it before for payment processor i see in  my  facebook group and skype group when dealing they are using bitcoin as payment..
Here in online we are using bitcoin as payment like buying domain in namecheap.. or buying credits in steam..
We are in new world and this type if payment processor are looking for people who wanted to give their identity to others and getting benefits of price increases..

Actually bitcoin is a payment processor and it is made for that purpose. I also considered bitcoin as a new mode of payment method at the beginning. But now I consider it as a investment coin and frankly speaking its one of the best investment methods available at the present. My mind is not allowing me to use bitcoin as a payment option nowadays because of its constant increase in its value.

It is a very speculative asset, but you might be ignoring or underestimating the number of people who choose it as a way for diversification and preservation of their wealth.

The fact that it is the first and only unseizable asset ever created opens the possibility for multi-billion dollar investments in the furure.

Nope. Bitcoin is designed for decentralization. Bitcoin was meant to be an alternative to our current financial system. But the way i see it. People preferred Bitcoin as an investment. Lets admit the fact that we only use Bitcoin to generate good profits from it. They appreciate it's value not as a digital currency because no one wants to spend it. That's why the price keeps going up. Even those altcoins. We only buy them to increase our profits. People don't care about them as a currency but as an investment. That's the truth.

To me, it seems kind of crazy to use Bitcoin to buy things, given how fast its price appreciates.  Like the guy who bought a pizza for 10,000 BTC ... that's now a 60 million dollar Pizza.  It is perhaps Bitcoin's success as a growth investment that makes it a failure as a currency.

Bitcoin meant to be a currency with its feature of decentralization, but for now most people use bitcoin and other cryptos to trade and a way to make money as you mentioned.
It's happen due to bitcoin acceptance in countries are different, maybe there are more people who knows and use bitcoin in Japan and US compare to third world countries.
Then, the most significant thing of bitcoin usability is merchants, stores, business, companies which accept bitcoin payment, if people could spend bitcoin to cover their daily needs or pay all of their bills, bitcoin will get more adopters who willing to use it everyday as a currency.

Let's see, bitcoin was created to be another type of currency -cryptocurrency, digital money-, and right now it has been used for that. Also other people see it like an investment, because they change dollars into bitcoins, for example, and when the price of the bitcoin goes up, they make more dollars.
Also it depends on the facility to use the bitcoins to buy goods and services.

i have read here on bitcointalk that some people say that bitcoin is no longer being used for what is was invented for.
because of its rapid growth is is becoming further and further out of some peoples grasp to buy.
it is becoming more of an investment coin in my opinion and investments from wealthier people.

I think it is correct that Bitcoin is mainly used as investment option because due to the price fluctuation, it is only good for investment purpose but not good for becoming currency and competing with fiat currency.

I think bitcoin has grown from being a currency to being a wealth storage platform. As of today the CME Group is going to stabilize the volatility of btc by offering a futures market that will allow more institutional funding. This news alone has given btc a boost to 6400$. Although they haven't gotten approval, the news alone always gives btc a boost. Everyone needs to be careful in the way they handle their btc because this will be an interesting point for all of us investors and traders alike. Btc is basically the stepping stone for certain coins to get ahead of the game for replacing the current way we do commerce. https://www.cnbc.com/video/2017/10/31/cme-groups-duffy-on-bitcoin-futures-launch-people-are-look-for-more-efficient-ways-to-do-commerce.html I hope everyone does their homework and stays safe in the months to come.

This is the most says of others that bitcoin serves as investment because of its price fluctuation. We all know that when people heard about bitcoin more likely they will say it is an investment, but they cannot see it as a digital currency and it has an advantage to offer to the users.

Saying that bitcoin servs only for investment purposes it totaly wrong. It is the same as saying that all cryptos is just an investment. Such statement is putting down the tech part of cryptos and leaving only speculations. You can always buy something for your bitcoin so it work as any other type of money.

That means the definition of the bitcoin that has created by satoshi nakamoto already changed for some people's mind, Bitcoin mainly considered as the investment rather than future mainstream payment.
The fact that the bitcoin can't compete with the visa scalable.
The more people are knowing the bitcoin as valuable investment because the supply was limited.

The current trend and price of bitcoin seems reflect that indeed they are treated more like investment coins, back when the days where community are very concern about the rising problem of slow/expensive transactions. Yet now seems nobody cares about it as the buys and sells volume are huge, crazy buy walls/support and daily increasing marketcap. If bitcoin wasn't sn investment coin, how could it be that buying a $10 service require extra $5 worth of BTC as processing fee? Doesn't make sense to me thus normal fiat would be still better than bitcoin payment protocol I must say, a crypyocurrency focused on facilitating transaction doesn't work this way.

in fact many people who introduce themselves only to make money from it, instead of using bitcoin
to increase their money, such as investment, but the main idea about bitcoin is just being like a new "currency" just because
the definition of bitcoin that Bitcoin has created is primarily seen as an investment rather than future mainstream payments.

Bitcoin is more than an investment coin. It existed with different vision, but and this with the growth potential got multiple usage. The same which was much used on illegal activities and for tax evasion has now got more importance as an investment coin. So it's an multiple usage token which can be used upon users necessity.

Bitcoin was created as a digital payment system a decentralized digital currency and created as a reward for mining in process. Today there are 260,000 merchants and vendors worldwide are accepting bitcoin as payment.  It can be held as investment especially that its price is increasing because people are realizing its worth and value. With the potential of bitcoin it is inevitable that it became a prospect for investment.

We can't really point out if bitcoin is a money or an investment. Because bitcoin is applicable in both purposes, its uniqueness can make us into an argument in which one they belong. Because investment is just a certain thing like buildings, land that we could make profit from them. But we could find it in bitcoin also, as we generate profit from it.
Anyway, I don't make it any big deal. As long as it gives me something in return from my hardworks then it is just good for me.

There is arguments behind bitcoin. How the core works and how the transactions are secured. There are a lot of people who dont even know about the technology and to them bitcoin is just a pump and dump scheme which if profitable they boast of their earnings and if decreases in value, they simple start screaming - "its a ponzi". It is not so because the technology is there and you can view it on github, clone the repository, fork it and launch your own coin. It is true that speculators will keep speculating and you have to deal with it.

Bitcoin price is controlled by the traders of bitcoin. Now if there is some news and media article which may be favorable or not favorable to bitcoin the market will show changes based on what the majority of the traders believe in. So the action of media is secondary because those who are into long term investment plans for bitcoin will ignore all FUD spread by whoever it may be.

There is nothing weird in this. The technology was built to change how the world economy acts. Now how the people have monetized on that is another issue. After all every human needs money to survive and thus they look for investments and methods to earn. The rise in price of bitcoin is what attracts investors.

I thought 90% or more bitcoin is used for investment short or long term. and the rest was used for transaction, like buying a mining rig etc. So its not 100% as investment coin. People are believe that bitcoin will become more valueable in the future, so they just keep buy and hold it. In the other hand, there also an altcoin like ethereum, litecoin, dash, etc that used as an asset, not solely used for transactions. This does make the purpose of this cryptocurrency to be slightly faded. But as long as people are still using and considering it as valuable, I think it's worthwhile.

Buying and selling bitcoin is not investment but rather it is what we called trading. For me bitcoin is not only an investment but it is cryptocurrency that we can use to deal with the virtual world.

Not at all. It is more than just an investment. If you had stayed in cryptoworld for awhile then you will came to know how the economy works here. Some people here exchange their bitcoins to fiat in order to buy some necessities since bitcoins is not that widely accepted yet but if they had the choice then they prefer the payments to be in bitcoin.

I think it is correct that Bitcoin is mainly used as investment option because due to the price fluctuation, it is only good for investment purpose but not good for becoming currency and competing with fiat currency.

Yes I agree. As of now, bitcoin is commonly used as investment instead of online currency. It can't be really good to use as a currency these days because at any time, hour or minutes the price can change drastically or just a bit, this will be hassle to use if you sent incorrect amount plus the transaction fee.

Let me know what you guys think and please don't give me this non argumented one liner like in all the other threads ;)
not just investment coin there's a lot that can bitcoin bring's like the knowledge here to earn in different country or ideas in a business and etc.Bitcoin is comprised by trading, gambling, faucet and some open campaign to earn so its not just investment coins.I think also if you learn bitcoin you will have confident to build a business and buy all the things that you want

Anything such that decreases or increases value with in given time can be considered as investment tool. I cant understand your argument behind this sentences. Investors are looking for good return on investment options and bitcoin is one of profitable and probably safe options.

Base on the way things are going bitcoin is just an investment coins. According to Bob Lee " treating bitcoin as an investment like stocks will undermine it values as money"  Many people here are concerned about buying bitcoin cheap and sell it high. We now see bitcoin as a tools for profits making and not as a medium of exchange for goods and services.  Bitcoin was developed to replace fiat currency and we have to push towards that.  We cannot deny the fact that bitcoin price is control by "media" and FUD created by market's manipulators.

The main appeal of Bitcoin does not appear to be its real-world application nor its technology but its earning potential for anyone investing. The media rarely covers the real-world utilisation of Bitcoin but rather focuses on its increasing value. That is what mesmerises them. So for a lot of people the main interest in Bitcoin is due to the increasingly high profits there has been and still are.

As the price is rising so high and so fast, it seems it is just a investment coin but no it served and still serving for various purpose as a currency. Personally I got freedom of international transaction without high fees of bank wire and access to gambling as it was not legal previously in our area, so there was not much option with fiat.

When bitcoin was first created its basics were as currency but now people had changed its true meaning and all are using it for sake of making money and those who are bit aware of its currency eases they are using it as currency and that’s true that it give benefit in both mode so use in that one what you need and more of it btc has capability to give 100% profit so yes it is investment as well as currency, choice is yours.

Bitcoin is meant to be a form of payment for goods and services, but instead becomes more like an asset because of its ever growing value. There is no denying that buying and holding bitcoin is wiser decision than spending it. Bitcoin value will continue to pump because of the demand and limited supply.

Bitcoin will continue to rise, its true that mainstream media is one factor why value pumps. But media has no control over its value. Bitcoin increase because thus is where it is going, once majority of the people got themselve to bitcoin, there is no way bitcoin will dump.

Well, I almost believe that bitcoin is just for investment, because bitcoin is more about on investing and trading in order to get your money, I say almost because I am not totally believe that bitcoin is just only for investment, in other country like Japan and Russia they allowed bitcoin for transaction and exchange for there works and many more and lastly many people get a part time job because of bitcoin.

Interesting points. True that people have greedy intentions and have goals of getting rich which is mainly the reason why a lot invest in bitcoin and intend in holding it for a long time. But really, bitcoin has a lot of other uses and is intended for other things. For now probably, most would look at it as an investment coin because of its potential to grow and increase in value in the future. It’s use as a currency may be utilized in the future when it is already adopted more and mainstream.

Bitcoin does act like an investment coin yes. However, it is much more than that. It also acts as sound money but while money is transitioning from paper money and gold to Bitcoin, there will be a price increase in BTC because of this wealth transfer. Also the supply of bitcoins is becoming less and less so this is building pressure and I think we're starting to see signs of it starting to take off.

It's an inevitable collide of circumstances. I just hope that merchants accepting Bitcoin as payment option understand this, and not directly discard Bitcoin due to the lack of actual usage in their store/service. Most of them use a third party payment service to take care of everything related to Bitcoin, so they only end up being charged when people actually pay with Bitcoin, which is a good thing. It won't/shouldn't give them any incentive to stop accepting Bitcoin.

Back in the days if you was spending your coins, it wasn't all that much of a problem to buy back your coins at $300-$500 levels. Right now people will think twice before spending their coins. This forum's market place has stagnated considerably compared to how things were at sub $1000 levels. If you sell something, or offer a certain service, you either need to significantly lower your rates, or people will just ignore you. People are firmly holding their coins, which is perfectly understandable considering how this market has gone up like 600% in value.

To make a profit, Investment is an alternative choice besides mining.
With Investment, we no longer think about the cost of electricity, the cost for the purchase of GPU / VGA and so forth. Silent / sit sweet to monitor the fluctuations that occur, then select 3 options: Buy / Sell / Hold.
"If anything is easier, why looking for a difficult one ?"

May be it is even better to wait for the right time to buy it. The 7K rate is pretty much high and the fork situation could be reason for that which means this price could be very volatile and could drop at any point.

Yes bitcoin is good investment always as you can see the current market value for it. Those who invested early have already gotten big slice of pie and they are eating it crazy. Im sure such opportunities will come on go always and it should be on our shoulder when to invest into it and when to pull out the investment really.

I am seeing more brighter future ahead but I am wishing for bitcoin to go down at this point which is very much spiked at this point.

Yes, it's been preferred as an investment coin due to the price variations felt with reference to time. Along with its varying price it too has provided users different usage access starting from an transaction token to a high volume value storage token. Though it has provided such access, it's been much used as an investment and as an long term holding.

The fact is that it is still used as both currency and as an investment. A lot of people are into signature campaigns and they are not earning dollars but bitcoin right? Some are spending, some are holding depending on their responsibilities and how much they need to withdraw or sort some stuffs out.

Bitcoin is still a currency and it has really helped so many people globally in getting paid for services across borders without stress or issue like we have always had in the days of PayPal and third parties.

What we have forgotten is that it will not always be like this and a time will most definitely come when the real life usage would start coming into play. It is normal for people to see it as an investment, so as any other decentralized crypto.

Obviously, if bitcoin's value was controlled and stable, there is absolutely no way the main value would not have come to play which is what would happen in the long run as we get a balance.

Well bitcoin nowadays don't need to be stabel because it may bounce its price normally as new investors see it more profitable. This is not just a coin that is an ideal altcoin for trading, and the investments that we have here is for life sustaining assets. It can provide you a long term goals which everybody can acquire for future good earnings.

From what I can see now, bitcoin is becoming a store of value or investment coin because it is expensive to use it as a currency. Instead of a product being cheap, you would end up paying higher because of the fees so you would prefer to use it as fiat. It is also not advisable to make it as payment option yet because of the volatility of its price. You may not be affected by this if you are using bitcoin all through out your business like when you buy from supplier with bitcoin and sell with bitcoin too then you can properly account your profit but if you convert to fiat then there would be a problem and since only few businesses recognize payment option now then you have no choice but to convert to fiat which you may end up in a loss if bitcoin price goes down.

It's a yes and no. YES because you can actually use bitcoin as an investment. Most people think that when you invest in bitcoin, you'll always earn or at least profit. And that's the case for most of the time. Investors actually invest in bitcoin to earn, and they're a part of the reasons why bitcoin value changes in the course of time.

On the other hand, it can be NO because you can use bitcoin just like a cash. You can use it to buy things, to pay bills, and to pay services. The more bitcoins you have, the more money you actually have. You can even convert it to fiat, which is one advantage of using bitcoin.

The answer for this actually depends on how people see and use bitcoin. You can use it for investment purpose only, you can use it to buy goods, or it can be both.

Bitcoin can be an investment coin and it can also be a medium of exchange of goods and service as Fiat is, but bitcoin users have made it appear as you have described because many just keep it accumulated for investment. I guess this is more like that because of its safety in cryptocurrency form and in the wallet instead of keeping it in bank to be easily monitored and noticed.

Bitcoin was created as a new digital currency to be used as mode of payment, to transfer money, to make trading and more. But since bitcoin is not yet accepted by all business enterprises, it limits it uses. And people see that bitcoin can be a good investment to earn big amount of profit so they do it more often and nothing is wrong with that.

We  are not completely having the knowledge of  Bitcoin investment. Even though bitcoin is a decentralized digital type of currency without no central authority to control we will naturally try not to take risk in losing what we have acquired but in other words it is also profitable to invest Bitcoins. Even though, due to some reasons or other, bitcoin is becoming familiar to lay-men ,and due to the increase in value more people are interested in bitcoin and the price is going up, we cannot be sure till how far will it reach;this can also come down we cannot predict it for the time being .This is my own concept it might be true or false idea.

I think you are completely wrong.

Had it been an investment coin only then countries like japan wouldn't have been adopting it as a means of payment and even on this forum there won't be posts like :-
' amazon is going to accept bitcoins '
' online site which accepts bitcoins ' etc.. Meaning the mentality of people is different for sure.. they want to use it as a fiat yet let it have its status as a cryptocurrency.

I think its evolving thus we shouldn't say anything about it right now because the future is yet to be seen so we can't be sure about anything.

For me Bitcoin is at the same time a libertarian philosophy I do appreciate a lot and a true currency, meant for daily payments for about anything. It can also be used for trading, gambling, investing, but do not mistake new adopters as these are just side use cases, not the main one !

Well at first bitcoin was meant to be used as a currency, a payment method that will change the way we use money on the internet, a system that gives the power and control in the hands of the people who use it, but just like gold at first it was used as a currency but since it started getting popular and people started to mine it quickly and due to its limited supply, it became an asset a precocious thing that people race to get their hands on and save it, and this upped its price and became a type of investment.

It is better to invest in bitcoin and keep it for a long time. But while you are keeping it, you also need to work to add more bitcoin to your savings wallet so the more you keep it and add some amount of bitcoin in it, the more you can gain from bitcoin. So don't doubt and invest in bitcoin now because it is not just an investment but it will truly helps you to become rich soon.

Let me know what you guys think and please don't give me this non argumented one liner like in all the other threads ;)

no its not. bitcoin is not just an investment coin because it can also be used on trading , selling, etc. therefore you cant say that it is only for investment. though most people are just using it as a primary source of investment because it is just better than any other forms of investment due to its high volatility that can make its value increase or decrease.

yeah sorry, I actually mixed up two topics in this one: 1. Bitcoin is just a investment coin and 2. How the price is controlled.

Bitcoin is not just an investment coin/store of value, but also spender coin/medium of exchange, and speculator coin/get-rich-quick. Investment coin for those who truly understand the technology behind Bitcoin and its long-term potential. Spender coin for those who want to use a decentralized peer-to-peer payment system. Speculator coin for those who don't care much about the technology and are in for short-term profits/get-rich-quick.

Yeah, media and whales do have an influence on Bitcoin's price, but not controlled. It is free market, driven by supply/demand, utility/scarcity, and of course speculation.

Now it has become the investment coin otherwise satoshi created it for the replacement of the cash money but people have forgotten its basics and they are just putting their money into this coin and versatility of this coin is that it can be beneficial in both ways and I am suggesting that it should be used as currency also so that it will become more popular and more people will use it and high profit will come.

Just my opinion, bitcoin is no more suitable for replacing cash, it's just too costly for a transaction right now and the confirmation has becoming so slow to arrive due to scaling problem.
The only best option is used for investment, or else, moving big money with bitcoin, the fee will become suitable.

Its the reality indeed on which most people do really have the hidden motives or perception on getting rich or making good profits into bitcoin even if they would say into other people or on public that they do like the innovation and benefit that it gives. I have the same view regarding on bitcoin is just being treated as an investment purely not totally on its actual usage on where it is being stated on its own whitepaper. You cant blame people though because if money is involve it would really be a different story.

The popularity of bitcoin brings people to invest in it because of the benefits it can give to everyone. Because bitcoin is expensive even though it is volatile which can be a good asset to hold and keep for a long time with a chance to grow because it price increases every year. Bitcoin can also be a currency which can be used for fast and more secure transaction around the world.

I agree with you the popularity brings investors in bitcoin, but remember also that bitcoin is also a method to pay anonymously on the internet i like that because bitcoin has the highest privacy of all the things.

So for me it is not just a investment coin but more than that it is similir to a currency.

For now you can consider bitcoin as an investment coin since there is not much of establishments that accepts it. But when the time comes that most store both online and physical store accepts the coin as a payment for everything then we can consider it as a currency.

For now it is more of an investment coin than a currency it is far to volatile to be used daily for purchases. More and more places are starting to accept bitcoin and this will help it to be used as a currency. Until then most people are holding.

To stores took as payment bitcoins need to change the existing conditions. We see that this is not happening. Price of small transactions very high in order to make purchases. Confirmation also is slow. The volatility of bitcoin is also scares off many sellers. It seems to me that without solving these problems we will use for purchases of Fiat.

Bitcoins sole purpose is actually not to be an investment coin however people chose to make this coin as an investment because of its value and worth. So that's why most people rather invest in Bitcoin and hold on to it for a couple of years because it will be worth something in the future. But hopefully in time they or we will make use of the proper usage of Bitcoin.

Actually, the main use of Bitcoin is a mode of payment since it is a digital currency. It just turned out to.be an investment when people niticed that its market value is growing and becoming bigger. So holding and storing, just like what people are doing on a normal investment is advantageous as its value becomes more expensive each and everyday.

Curious, how can bitcoin be just an investment coin? Because you bought bitcoin yesterday and now got profit? What do you think, what makes price higher? Seems you don't know how economy works, well, that's not a problem, we are here to help you. There are many different factors which affects it's price, coin is new too, so that's why it has potential to look like an investment coin. After 100 years it may not rise or fall so quickly and so seriously. Coins aren't mined fully, popularity increases everytime and etc.

there is two option mainly used for bitcoin 's investment, long term purpose or short-term purpose.
usually people who hold bitcoin in bulk and have another business in real life only let their bitcoin in cold wallet and took huge profits after invest their money in bitcoin. (keep their money in form of bitcoin like commonly did for gold).
in terms of payment method, i think fluctuations is no big problem since there are many new projects innovation to exchange bitcoin to fiat in real time for transaction.

Not really a fan of work when you are a long-term investors, it's just that you are looking for a greater profit in a different view when you does this. Also the advantage for this is you can do something on whatever you wanna do because you were just waiting for the exact time until you'll get to sell your investments. Unlike to those who does a short-term trading is quite hard specially if you are not that just skilled to predict the market you will likely to burn your money.

Widespread introduction of cryptocurrency is unprofitable to many structures, many wealthy men. Therefore early to speak about bitcoin as about a long-term investment. Nobody knows what opposition of the authorities and interested persons against bitcoin will end

Well initially as I understand it, bitcoin was designed to be a P2P and not as a investment. But lately, when the price soars and the big boys comes and join the fun, bitcoin became as a investment platform. That's why its gonna be hard to attain it as mode of payment now because its now treated as a investment instrument by the super rich.
perfectly right mate the p2p design of bitcoin now is always gone, because of those big players now it becomes investment in which those big one controlled the system.how can we say that its a rightful to use as online payments when even the transaction is being compromised because of what is going on now,the transactions are delayed and the fees are getting higher and higher

Actually, people can use bitcoin as an investment or a form of payment. But seeing how bitcoim shows tremendous growth it is wiser to consider bitcoin aa an asset instead of using it as a mean of payment. Bitcoin value is ever changing, it will continue to grow and we could expect to even double its value in the coming months. There is no denying that there are many good and service that is now accepting bitcoin, but ww have to put in mind that its better to hold it than spend.

Bitcoin was a good investment then hold in a long if you want to be profitable in it. Bitcoin also a good assets too, where as time goes by the value increases, especially now bitcoin is almost 6300$ each which is close to 7000$ which is really a good sign to hold more.

to my knowledge that bitcoin is indeed a long-term investment tool, which is very profitable for investors. because of the increasing bitcoin today, investors are eyeing bitcoin as a good investment tool.
Yes for sure the bitcoin is really very profitable and the this is the reason why all the people are using the bitcoin and I hope the value of the bitcoin will be very high I can see how the value and the price of the bitcoin at the time I know how fast the bitcoin will grow and you will see the fast increase in the future I believe in the bitcoin and I know the value will be more than this till the end of the year 2017.

Obviously the bitcoin or any other crypto is primarily used as investment opportunity because that is what it is creating in the first place, the pure profits!

What I learnt through my journey until now is very simple, buy bitcoin, store bitcoin and sell bitcoin when it is at the peak level of every thing. I mean I am able to harvest almost more than 50% of the profit each couple of months which is even better than putting my money into bank for fixed deposits or even for the golden harvest schemes which sucks a lot. Thats like stocking my money somewhere in the jail and bitcoin is like money making machine although it is very thoughtful and perfect one.

There are however group of devlopers who really keep the bitcoin or blockchain as separate entity and a way of advancing through the technology and betterment of the transactions and financing system. Like it a lot.

As you said the price swing in bitcoin is very high but it is normal in bitcoin the bitcoin will recover if there a price drop and it is always happening while we saw the history of bitcoin.
The most important thing to understand about bitcoin is that the bitcoin has great potential in future the value of the bitcoin will be high in coming years so it is a smart way to invest on bitcoin than other investment like gold,or stocks.Because the price growth of bitcoin is very high when compared to other investments.

I don't agree that bitcoin is only the investment coin. It can be used for any payment online or offline, directly or through debit cards, so it's also the payment method, it's money. And that is the beauty of bitcoin, you can use it in multiple ways, depending on your preferences and possibilities. But some people use it only as an investment and the method to accumulate profit. To my opinion it is pitty not to use all the possibilites that bitcoin gives us.

Yeah but most btc holders don't see it that way and its not really hard to see why. Holdong btc is like playing in stock market where your main objective is of course making money. Perhaps slowly we'll see it the other way but as long as the price keeps going up, its an investment coin

The media has really gotten some part to play in that and there is so much concentration on the bitcoin's value than its real life usage.

Although, let us also not forget that is what people always want to hear and even if you tell them about its uses, they would rather skip it and look at how they can rather invest and then have so much more at the end without even understanding how it works.

So, you are definitely right, which to me is still a good thing, because at the end when the usage becomes easy, and the value gets balanced a bit, then we people will start seeing it as a real value and form of payment like we are already having few of that at the moment.

the original purpose of bitcoin has shifted from digital currency to a commodity
however, I still have high hope that bitcoin can return to its path as digital currency
now it's up to majority holders... which path bitcoin will be on
if most users just in it solely for profitting from trading bitcoin... commodity it is
if most users use it for payment and business transactions... then it's digital currency

These high transaction fees and long waiting period have somehow killed the use of bitcoin as a currency for everyday transactions. Bitcoin has largely became an investment asset which due to limited cap and inbuilt deflation gives best return on investment in short span of time leaving behind traditional asset. People are converting part of fiat into Bitcoin from saving their earnings from inflation. For currency use there are tons of other available options in crypto currencies. So, I agree to OP that bitcoin is somehow left behind when it comes to currency use.

It is really hard to say that is purely used for investment as some also used it as a currency (which is actually is purpose). Bitcoin is not created to just make money out of it, its just that being a decentralized currency affected on how the price moves a lot. With its extreme volatility it overshadowed its real purpose as a currency because many users are taking advantage of the rapid price movements and even I myself is now starting to trade with Bitcoin to make some profit.

No, it is more than that but currently it is considered as a investment.
Bitcoin is not only an investment it has many uses and considered as means of payment. Bitcoin is volatile price thats why many says its only investment. But bitcoin can be use to pay our bills, buying of goods and service using bitcoin and a lot of more.

Bitcoin is like a fiat money backed by gold. And if people sell bitcoin then their are people who will bought bitcoin and eventually it will keep rising. And if all central banks will merge to blockchain then it will multiple our income time comes bitcoin price will be worth a million dollar.

Bitcoin was a good investment then hold in a long if you want to be profitable in it. Bitcoin also a good assets too, where as time goes by the value increases, especially now bitcoin is almost 6300$ each which is close to 7000$ which is really a good sign to hold more.
It is very normal for anyone to keep considering bitcoin as an investment right now due to its value increasing. All the above, bitcoin is also good for transaction purposes and spending.

Spenders really do have a lot of role to play in the development of bitcoin and that is what makes the real life aspect of it to come to play. If we all just keep holding, how do we understand the value it creates?

I think that this is true, but there are also people who use bitcoin as a payment method. Hackers use bitcoin to store their money and they use it to afford things on the internet. For me Bitcoin is a investment coin and a coin for doing payments. I prefer them both because i use both of them. So i sometimes invest and sometimes i spend my bitcoins online.

Because I could use it to pay some of my expenses as a student and as a teen. I prefer both. So yes i will consider it as an investment and as for payments.

I think it is correct that Bitcoin is mainly used as investment option because due to the price fluctuation, it is only good for investment purpose but not good for becoming currency and competing with fiat currency.
As for me i consider bitcoin yes as an investment because it really is a big source of income for many of it's users. But in the othe side I also consider it as a currency because we all know that bitcoin can be used to pay transactions and payments online. Well ofcourse it depends on every users how they will treat their bitcoin.

It's certainly not a useful currency, and doesn't hold a stable store of value, which would preclude it as a currency in my book. However, merely classifying it as an "investment," while accurate, doesn't go far enough in classifying it for me. I would argue that it is a speculation coin more than an investment coin.

I don't think the media controls the price of bitcoin though because they never controlled the price. (Control and influence are not the same thing.) They certainly keep the hype up and this influences awareness, but it doesn't control the price. Bitcoin has reached a certain critical mass at this point that it would persist without constant media attention.

What you are describing is a bubble, and I think bitcoin has a real use case, and that's why it has a real chance in succeeding. The problem is that most people investing in it, are just entering the market because they think they can win money with it. Some investors don't even have a wallet, and just buy and hold bitcoins on exchanges, so they have no real plan in ever using it. If people continue like this, then bitcoin will crash.

There is of course another scenario though. Bitcoin starts as a pure speculative asset, it enters CME Group, then investors come in, it gets more popular as an asset, more investors join in, and it becomes an ETF. It gets even more popular, and now investors start using it as an edge fund. Big companies like amazon start using it as well, because now it has real potencial, and since a lot of money came into it, is also less volatile and can now be used as a form of payment. If this happens, bitcoin will start being use for it's real value, and won't just be a bubble waiting to pop.

No because in my country it is already used for a lot of things and i think in the future it will become more popular and a lot of companies will support bitcoin payments and even do something with blockchain technology.

There are quite some stores accepting Bitcoin already, but people aren't spending any of their coins, and likely never will. People who spend their coins once, and see how the price has gone up a while later, will not bother to spend their coins again, and I can't blame them for that. At the time the price was still hovering below the $1000 level, buying back the coins you spent wasn't much of a big deal, but when you see that not even a year later you have to pay 700% more to buy back the same number of coins, you'll more than ever understand that holding is the only option.

But when your source of money is basically Bitcoin, you pay for the item a current value. Sometimes people need to cash out to buy, stuff, pay bills. If they don't have any other source of income coming in.

I agree to this scenario but there's a lot of issues that Bitcoin needs to overcome like scaling, usability and perception to be really adopted outside of it's current userbase.  I think the scenario you highlighted is the most likely near term.  More cryptocurrencies have better technology to scale, ease of use and better perception but they lack market share which is the hard part.  Bitcoin has the first-mover advantage because it was first to the market as a cryptocurrency.  Same with Ethereum who was first to the market as a utility.  It will be interesting to see the long term for bitcoin and if it can keep the advantage or if it will lose market share while they hardfork every couple months.

At present mostly this cypto currency is being used for the investment purpose mostly. But if the masses adopt it than it would be majorly used for the paying of goods and services as well. If govt accepts it then it will boost the confidence of people in such currency as well.

I look bitcoin as a company and a company needs investors and financers to starts so that it may operate because if no one believes or values its products and services ( in the case of bitcoin is remmitance) then the company would probably fall. Bitcoin is in its early stage since more people still don't know its value but when the time comes, the price would be stabilized and we can use it as a normal currency.

As of right now, it seems that Bitcoin’s biggest benefit is as a store of value because of the fees and transaction times. The fees have gotten so high that I think people are reluctant to use Bitcoin as a method of payment. My understanding is that there are some improvements in the works that will address the issue of high fees and slow transactions for Bitcoin. But for now, it seems that the name recognition of Bitcoin is enough to keep it as a valuable commodity to hold as a store of value.

Yes, it is an investment currency and most of the people use it for investment. Maximum people think that bitcoin is just a currency of investment  and use it for that purpose. They do the right but bitcoin can also be used for online shopping and many of the people are using it for that purpose. I think not only investment and shopping but every type of payments.

This can really be treated on both things which it makes specially where bitcoin can be used digital currency and at the same time it does give opportunities for us to make money or profits onwards. This thing is the reasons why it do give curiosity and reason for people to engage on bitcoin but i do really believe that most people do see this thing as a money making thing than on its actual purpose.

BitCoin is an investment vehicle now. because constant appreciation keeps people waiting. because everyone knows that it is rising rapidly. In my country, bitcoin has provided a very serious increase. The dollar is already very precious in my country. now 1 Btc is more than the 1 year salary of a worker who works with the minimum wage in my country. If I have to talk to my country, nobody wants to sell something that is constantly valued. everyone is waiting and seeing it as an investment.
it is not possible to shop with bitcoin even if you want to use it. it has to go through a change of transformation system. which means that the money is being recorded. No one is looking at it right now.

Yes, but by todays standard, it is called a investment coin because people tend to buy it and hodl for long term. So personally, we can call it as such. However, if you look at the initial design by Satoshi, its not, its P2P. But bitcoin is evolving and its no longer the crypto for micro payment scheme because of the high tx fees and slow confirmation time.

But don't forget that bitcoin is money for most of us, they spend it like fiat, although there aren't any merchants that currently accepting it. People just cash it out and then they buy things like a regular fiat now. Which for me is a good thing because bitcoin has given individuals so much purchasing and financial freedom specially in 3rd world countries.

As you go on reading the topics here in the forum some are selling items or services for a bitcoin. We also can earn here. I mean we could be payed here using bitcoin the higher price that bitcoin we have now the bigger payment we have if we exchange the bitcoin into dollar or whatever kind of fiat  you need.

Nope mate this is dual nature coin you can also use bitcoin as mode of payment and this is happening right now online stores are accepting bitcoin as payment and for me this mode is preferable because this give boost to the prices more as yeah it is good investment also because btc is so promising that it deliver maximum and it is the most safest mode of investment now it is beneficial in both ways it’s up to user.

Bitcoin was created to be digital currency but due it value growth in small period of time.
People are now buying bitcoins in form of business investment to sell later when the value goes up.
Indeed, that is the reason for bitcoin to be more on the side of being an investment rather than being a digital currency. The market of bitcoin is growing rapidly and that is the reason people are being wise with their bitcoin and instead of selling it or using it as a way of payment, they are just keeping it as an investment to get some profit.

Spending as a currency is even what makes it interesting as it serves a value. If the value is not there, then there is no way it would have really not just been a bubble. Citing an example with Zimbabwe, the reason the value is above the normal market price right now is because the demand is far higher than the supply and there are lots of people who need it to be able to do international transactions after being denied the right by the government. These made them to seek for a way which only bitcoin was able to fill the gap. That is just how useful bitcoin can be now and in the long run. And as long as there are people in need of it and willing to pay more for it, spenders and holders will keep serving the purpose in making the value increase.

Bitcoin is not just an investment currency but it equally serve the general purpose of currency and at the same time as an investment opportunities that yield return on investment over time period.
This can really be treated on both things which it makes specially where bitcoin can be used digital currency and at the same time it does give opportunities for us to make money or profits onwards. This thing is the reasons why it do give curiosity and reason for people to engage on bitcoin but i do really believe that most people do see this thing as a money making thing than on its actual purpose.
although most users now use bitcoin for investment only but actually bitcoin can also be used as currency you know? besides there are many stores and merchants that accept bitcoin as payment option. so I think because of that bitcoin is not just an investment but more than that dude

Op put into words what I have witnessed in practice from the "new Bitcoiners" I know of. Every single one of them hasn't actually used an actual Bitcoin wallet nor bought actual Bitcoins or transacted in them.

They have simply deposited funds through a third party, with "Bitcoin " reflected as balances on an online account... some can't even withdraw those Bitcoins, they can only sell it back for fiat.

So I am beginning to see now that these so called new users aren't adopters at all. Mainstream adoption is still a distance away, with the bulk of newcomers merely investing in something they believe to be bitcoin, but without actually owning any. None ever see themselves using it, all believe they will liquidate when the time and profit is right.

That's just my observation.

After a long time of thinking, reading and also investing a bit into Bitcoin I have to say that it looks for me that the main use is actually just pure Investment.

Yes, I agree. It is 'digital gold', not a replacement for cash and cards. The current bitcoin technology is unsuitable for use as a payment system. The transactions are very slow and expensive, and the performance is severely limited by the protocol. Unless a higher-level solution is introduced, it will be more and more of an investment instrument.

Not at all. For me Bitcoin is not just an investment cryptocurrency, but the peer to peer stuff. It means that dealing with BTC I do not pay any bank commissions of the operations and I can send my virtual money to close people living in the other countries.

Maybe you should think that in the future we will face a lot of changes and one of them is how we do a financial transaction. Bitcoin is a breakthrough that offers many advantages to everyone. Lots of changes made by Bitcoin, we will all be facing such a sophisticated era and online transactions will be a choice of many people, Bitcoin gives us the ease to perform various financial transactions in the future !!!

Bitcoin probably is money and an asset, as gold is. My point is that at present it is unsuitable for day-to-day payments. Bitcoin is much easier, cheaper and faster to obtain and transfer than gold bullion, but much less convenient, slower and more expensive than credit cards. Paying for a cup of coffee with bitcoin currently seems to me as ridiculous as paying with gold grains.

I did not really understand this question. What do you mean by investment coin? Bitcoin is not only investment but it is also a usable currency all over the world. As we saw that many people have started trading in bitcoin officially in their respective countries, like Japan, South Africa, Vietnam, India and Russia will legalize bitcoin in 2018. You can use your bitcoin anywhere in the world without any exchange of your local currency for purchasing.

There is no denying that buying and holding bitcoin is wiser decision than spending it.because of the increasing bitcoin today. Investors are eyeing bitcoin as a good investment tool.Bitcoin is a popular and valuable crypto currency in this situation.
Yes, it is a wise decision, but if we do not have spenders, then it would have been so boring to hold and then the value will not even be as it is today. Everyone have their functions in the ecosystem.

Furthermore, the value of bitcoin can truly be seen in so many places like Zimbabwe where hyperinflation has occurred for a very long time now which is why bitcoin is so much in demand as that is the only means of transaction for people and business men who need to pay merchants abroad after the government banned international transactions.

That makes it more than an investment as there would be some people who will always need it.

Digital investment in age of technology? what is that supposed to mean? Bitcoin is a digital asset which is also an investment considering the growth of bitcoin. Fiat in the same manner is also an asset but not really an investment since its price does not go up but rather go down in future.

Quote
Bitcoin have life span and have risk value and the user have known that when they accept bitcoin as an investment than the have accept the risk.
What life span are you talking about? Life span of the currency? It is infinite. Life span of coins? It is also infinite.
Risk value of bitcoin? That depends on how the market responds to bitcoin but there is no internal risk.

For me it works on both investment and as payment system. As an investment Bitcoin is the best though not a stable one but will surely give high return to investors compared to fiat money investments. Bitcoins price is too volatile and too valuable that it even surpassed the value of gold so I think investing our time and money will of course give us good profit. I also use Bitcoin to buy prepaid loads for my internet connection. But in the end it will still depends on how people think of Bitcoin it is either an investment or a new form of currency.

to be honest im agree with this, the volatilty is just not currency characteristic, this is just too volatile that price could change drastically within an hour also, many companies thinking twice before accepting bitcoin due to its volatility. i prefer to use bitcoin as an investment rather than a currency to spend because it can be more profitable for me than using it for daily expenses.

To be honest it should have been the currency of the crypto world and must have been used as normal physical currency. But the past events changed the path of its course and everything is reverted to an asset value or the things which we call as stock commodity etc.

Bitcoin was really a currency as thought by Satoshi and it was made for simpler peer-to-peer transaction per se. It was well that algorithm so that nothing can be caught into centralised mess and thus we could have been blessed with such currency which can rock the transactions in seconds of matter. So yeah now a days it really looks like as an asset or a way to store the money in the same manner as one would do with the gold. It can be changed in the future but I don’t think that much efforts are being taken for it. Just look around us, everyone is just behind the earning money and no one is thinking about contributing into the bitcoin development.

So it is not an investment for me but a rather a kind of "safe haven".

But as the alt markets are getting swatted again and again by new BTC ATHs in the past weeks it is more and more appealing to just buy BTC and fckn HODL.

Bitcoin is basically a new era currency and currency itself is an investment when it kept hold for a long time. Some people keep hold their national currency for future saving while some people keep hold dollars which internationally recognized but through dollar they can trade by exchanging currency from one to another so in this sense we can say bitcoin may also be used for trading and business like dollar.

The difference is one dollar is recognized across the world while bitcoin not yet but bitcoin is much popular conventionally. So it is concluded that we can say that bitcoin is not just an investment because it may also be used for trading.

And I think as more people are buying bitcoin for storing their wealth, the more bitcoins becomes more of a investment platform now. That's why I believed that we should not hoard bitcoin but at least sell some so that the coins can go back into circulations. However, its not even the case today. So I consider it most as a investment, partly a currency or money.

You can't blame anyone though for being a bagholder. Just imagine at the start of this year you bought 1 bitcoin and hold it till today, your investment is now returning a massive 900% or more. No other investment platform can give you that kind of returns in less than a year.

It's just a named , bitcoin is digital currency that this kind of coin can't be own physically.
No one able to expect that bitcoin able reach $ 8000 so if you're lucky to be apart of the bitcoin investor then congrats to you.

#BetterThanGold
Bitcoin reach $8000 usd is more than expert's expectation. The risk is even bigger now, because maybe that is not the price it should be, maybe just the result of excessive enthusiasm. Invest in bitcoin is very risky, but profitable for the long time holders.
I would not say the risk is bigger now. The risk was even bigger back then when the support was still very low and the only people who do not really stand much chance of a risk right now are the early holders. It is on us and as long as we are willing to stand and hold the value upright without allowing any government to bully us into dumping or panicking, then we are just going to be fine holding as an investment or spending as a currency.

We can use it to buy a lot of things, but that doesn’t make it a real currency. It’s just like gold, you can use gold to do anything, and even use it in replacement of a real currency, but you still can’t call it a real currency, it is still called an asset. So Bitcoin is just an (a digital asset) that is mainly for investment. But since it’s designed in a way that we’re allowed to do peer-to-peer transaction with it, there is nothing bad if you use it as such.

Let me know what you guys think and please don't give me this non argumented one liner like in all the other threads ;)

problem like refund , No ID and price changes fast make bitcoin less use in Buy/sell daily things (food , eat , bill ,....etc).
so that many only use bitcoin as invest coin

While transaction fees are getting higher everyday bitcoin cannot be used for transactions.
Also transactions take very very long time then other coins. So the answer is yes its an investment coin for me.

actually it's against the vision of satoshi to make bitcoin as a spending tool in this case named currency, it's main function is to pay something to replace phyiscal money in the real world, if it's just merely an investment, it'll hold the adoption of bitcoin in so many places. people should be aware that bitcoin is not only for investing but also for spending despite many issue like transaction fee.
That was not the main vision of satoshi. The main vision is to have a currency that can be used based on P2P transaction without the involvement of the government or any middle man. In this case, except you wish, you really do not have to convert to fiat. The fact remains that it has been designed to be an investment, a digital currency and as long as the two are in play, then we have a market.

Bitcoin is not just an investment currency but it equally serve the general purpose of currency and at the same time as an investment opportunities that yield return on investment over time period.
I believe most people today really do not know the huge value that is lurking in bitcoin usage. Bitcoin is far more than just investment and the value is rising today because that is how most people are seeing it, but the value it offers is what is going to sustain that demand for the currency and make people to keep having interest in buying the coins to use.

I think it is same as general currency. There is no equally thing in this scene. Bitcoins currency and it is acting ass-urgency all over the world. It has main objective to give chances and opportunities for making its users reedy to earn from it. Yes there is one difference, bitcoin is virtual and that makes it a little different in appearance than any other currency currently working in world.
Satoshi created bitcoin as replacement or as alternative use of normal cash currency and people changed its basic charter now it has become investment and people are rushing toward bitcoin because they see the future benefit in it and maybe now as amazon and other stores are accepting bitcoin payment this   back to the main purpose to use as currency it will be beneficial in both modes and yeah people are doing.

Most people think just because many invest using bitcoin, it is solely for investment. It is a multifunctional cryptocurrency and currently accepted in particular industries for trade, as asset, money, and still branches out to other forms too.

Bitcoin it was a new and unique financial vehicle, unlike anything the world has ever seen. Bitcoin is an entirely a peer-to-peer digital form of money.
We can use bitcoin in many ways, as:
Virtual currency,
investment,
Asset,
digital gold,
and other...

On the other hand, Bitcoin will never disappoint. If you want to, you can spend an all day long tracking different exchanges, changes in price and various predictions.

It has got multiple usage within it, but majority of the user network give importance as an investment. This will change when bitcoin becomes common or gives direct usage access similar to the paper money that we use. Everything requires certain time period to reach people, bitcoin too is not an exception.

Judging from this and from how it was made, I would say the main purpose was for investment, but an investment which can also be shared peer-to-peer.

The majority of the users now considers bitcoin as a investment and not as a value of transaction is not because it has not reached people ,it is simply because of the scaling issues it has to reach a wider audience or to make millions of transactions in a single day, with these restrictions the transaction charges will be higher as well as the transaction time and so is the reason people are using it as an investment opportunity because of the rally bitcoin has. :P

The main reason why most people considered it as an investment coin, digital asset per se, is because of its volatility which was been abused and misunderstood by the majority of crypto enthusiasts. If when in the future, BTC hit its ceiling, people might change their thoughts regarding of this investment thing and should start soon spending their profits or hold coins like a normal currecy.

Bitcoin has become a huge source of income for its users around the world. It is helping many people to build a strong economic base. But bitcoin is not just a coin for investment but it has many more potentials like it could one day become a global currency and every country will agree its trade and exchange. This can make bitcoin ass a different scenario.

Bitcoin is become a very powerful crypto currency and it already is the most valued one among the available crypto currency’s. Biotin is not just coin to invest in but a opportunity to become a stable person with stable income this is very bigger concept I think.

Not necessary investment because we can earn bitcoin without investment, investment is the method to earn for those people who can afford to buy  bitcoin or they have extra money that they want to grow that is why they buy bitcoin and hold for long period of time because value will continue to increase and it will brings good profit for the investors.

Basically, Bitcoin is an asset meant for investment, but it’s an investment on a different level. It’s not only meant for investment, you can do just more than investment with Bitcoin, you can use it for a lot of things, cause another purpose for it is peer-to-peer transaction, which means you can use it as a payment method wherever it is accepted and can also use it to send money to your friends. Bitcoin is good for sending money to someone that lives in a different country, cause it’s cheap and fast for that.

Bitcoin`s founders have not created it only as a tool for investment. They have very broad idea, they want to reduce or eliminate the problems faced by common while doing transactions with banks and with fiat currencies. Bitcoin as a currency is the best hassle free tool of trade. Its decentralised nature is eliminating the intruder from a trade. But due bans and regulations from governments of many countries it failed to become a popular currency. But it has achieved a great success as an asset/investment. Investment in bitcoin has given far more returns to its investors.

Yeah indeed this statement is completely true. The bitcoin which was actually thought as currency to make the transfers and transaction easily over the blockchain is now actually a tool to get into good way of investing money and growing it into something bigger. The wealth greediness is the basis for this one and by natures rule people fall for it in the first place. Now if government of each country really starts to think about the bitcoin as potential currency then there cold be middle way where it will not be treated as asset for investment but as full fledged currency which can make our lives easier in terms of identity and the peer-peer transaction.

i agree that satoshi nakamotos vision on why did he create bitcoin because he wants another alternative payment online that can be use independently and anonymously without strings attached but bitcoin cant possibly eliminate the used of credit cards or fiats because those are still more important and been trusted when compared to bitcoin. also bitcoin cant reduce scams and fraud or any other illegal activities rather criminals tends to use it more because bitcoin is kinda anonymous and it is hard to be tracked easily while using it when compared to some other payment method.

Just a clarification - buying Bitcoin to wait for the an increase just to sell it for profit is more trading than investing. Investing in bitcoin would be holding over the long term.
Bitcoin is in the form of cryptocurreny which make it as a new form of currency that is suitable for faster and reliable transactions. So thinking that Bicoin is only an investment is not the perfect idea to focus on. The truth is bitcoin serves as a currency in transaction that could also used on trading platform that could give us a way for us to earn and to have profit in the future.

According to my point of view bitcoin is jack of all trade and tries its best in everything. Bitcoin is the best coin ever for online procedures. It can be used for any process; it is just like an ordinary currency but is digital, so it can perform any function that can be done by USD or any other physical or digital currency. Yes, it is mainly used in investments but also is has a vast use by the public worldwide for their need. I think bitcoin can be used for any process.

The price of bitcoin is simply fantastic and it can be considered a highly profitable investment, not virtual money, despite the fact that many are skeptical about it. In addition, many people buy it only to make a profit from the price increase.

Bitcoin has different uses means It is using for a lot of purposes and it is helping people to have bright and secured future, today if you will have alt of money and will not save anything for the future then you cannot make profit but if you will have money and will invest it in bitcoin you will have bright future. In case of saving bitcoin is the best but along with it we can have strong income with bitcoin.

Yeah you are right satoshi didn’t created bitcoin to use it in only investment way people sorted out it in this way and I believe that if bitcoin get to the currency mode there will be more progress and development in the every region and now its currency use has started amazon and many other online outlets are accepting it as payment also and this thing is promoting its use as currency but it is also good in this mode,

Bitcoin is just an ordinary currency like USD or any other but it is a bit unique because it is a digital currency and is used in digital procedures. While using bitcoin, it depends on the user that how he is using it, he can also use it for investment while ordinary payments can also be done with it. I think bitcoin can perform any function; its use just depends on its user.

Bitcoin is not just for investment purpose but it serve all the characteristics for which any other currency stand for if not more than other altcoins and fait currency in the world. The introduction of Bitcoin and blockchian technology has made financial transactions more easy both local and internationally for p2p and any other form of payment or purchase.

I think people should stop viewing Bitcoin as an investment in terms of growth. I personally view it more as a hedge against the buffoonery of government money management, which has wrecked many a currency in the past. The hope is that if my gov screws up our money and the value goes to crap, maybe BTC will still work. If it goes up in value in the mean time, great.

something with volatility like bitcoin cannot be viewed as a hedge.
hedging is a way to protect the value of your money in a sense of minimal risk of losing value against inflation
for current condition fluctuation of bitcoin price, saying bitcoin as an investment is more appropriate
its price can go up by 1900% in a year? or down by 30% within a week?
that doesn't like a way to protect your money, more like to get more money by using your money/asset

Bitcoin is a currency but in a very unique way. It's a digital currency that can only be accessed through digital transactions, using internet and mobiles phone or pc. I used it as an investment coin, yes, but I know there are more other things that can be done and I'm still trying to know it.

I think yes because of bitcoins when you write that you have an investment right away and when you get coins one is in the investment yon. so people who are involved in bitcoins are at work and if you buy something it's an investment so just in bitcoins.
