I was browsing for news in bitcoins last week when I got intrigue with this title in an news article.  In deed, the biggest test for bitcoins in this year for there are a lot of scares with its operations.  There has been issues with its legal basis as China and South Korea has halted their exchange operations.  The all time low bitcoin value then the sudden increase of its worth... It has been a roller coaster... but thankfully it survive and here we are...

Bitcoin won't disappear. I don't think it's gone before. The future will be better, and more people will use bitcoin. Now bitcoin has a complete application, recently saw a large number of companies are also working with bitcoin, Amazon has docked.

Steam is accepting Bitcoin for a long time, still don't see many people buying things on there with bitcoin, just because they don't know what it is / how it works / don't have it etc.

IF Amazon decides to work with bitcoin, this doesn't HAVE TO mean that bitcoin will be all prosperous, it can be just like the steam situation. But of course, it won't be a bad thing  ;D

Due to series of hard forks, thus improvements on its architecture an overall performance. Bitcoin has really proven to be a premium tech innovation of the decade. Mass adoption will really be the next agenda for cryptocurrency and Bitcoin will lead the way.

Yes, bitcoin will continue its roller coaster price. Right now the price of bitcoin $6,416. Last week bitcoin is only $6,000. Imagine the $400+ increase in just few days.

That's why many believe that bitcoin may price $10,000 next year.

I agree to you this year has a great influence to bitcoin industry, 2017 gives so much opportunity to bitcoin users there are many flictuations happen in the past months but they all lead to one thing its the value appreciation of bitcoin like never before. I think that because of this the trust for bitcoin increases as well as the investors take all the opportunity to buy bitcoin when its low.

It is indeed! Its price jumped what, more than 500% the past year? It has just been incredible. While Bitcoin has slowly been amassing popularity the past few years, I believe it did much larger strides this year. Countries are really starting to acknowledge it, and while there are a few hiccups, it has been great overall. We have also learned that we can survive without China, which was one of the largest Bitcoin markets prior to the FUD stuff. The year isn't over, though, with the Segwit2x fork looming, but I'm sure Bitcoin will come out of that stronger than ever.

And the best part: This is just the beginning.




Amazon is orders of magnitudes larger though. A "steam situation" the size of Amazon would be amazing. Also it would further legitimize Bitcoin's role as a payment system, because the question "but what can you buy with it?" could be answered easier than ever.

That being said... I don't see Amazon accepting Bitcoin anytime soon.

well, bitcoin cash, and bitcoin gold give a very big effect on bitcoin. even to this day bitcoin prices are still very high because of these effects. well, maybe in the future, it will happen again something like this, and make the bitcoin price becomes higher again.

I think that the 2017 will become the beginning of the End of bicoins, because government have started to ban cryptocurrency and will continue to do it, because they wanna more power

I'm so grateful also that I started it this year. I'm quite late but at least I've already started. Its been a great year for bitcoin this year because many had already using it. The prices goes up and down but mostly its going up. We'll just continue to support bitcoin and it will be use in the coming more years.

You are entitled to your opinion. However i am also to mine and I believe you are very wrong sir. Just now bitcoin reached an all time high of $6400++. Why? Because people are starting to believe in bitcoin. They now see the value behind it and are buying because of its potential to change the world. You are here now because somehow you have been influenced and have started to hear about bitcoin's value. Imagine if everyone in the world started using bitcoin. Bitcoin to the moon.

Its true that despite the severe actions taken against bitcoin by china,still bitcoin price increased and south korea's actions also had no impact over bitcoin.But even then,we could not come to the conclusion that 2017 is the year for bitcoins since a very big trial is waiting for bitcoin in this month when segwit 2x would be activated.

Segwit 2x has majority of miners support and so we don't know which one would succeed either bitcoin or bitcoin segwit 2x.Definitely,it would be a turning point in the history of bitcoin,either positive or negative.

If bitcoin with segwit 2x replaces bitcoin,then its future would be a big question mark.On the other hand,if bitcoin succeeds,then surely bitcoin price would skyrocket.

what do you mean "don't see"? you mean you went to Valve Headquarters or BitPay servers and checked how many people have been using bitcoin to buy things from Steam Store and saw not that many do? :)

have you checked out the BitPay's annual report on the growth they have been experiencing? check it out if you haven't already.
and if you had watched some of the DotA2 internationals you could have seen how many of the audience there had bitcoin sign with them ;)

Bitcoin this year is really great when it comes to its price for now. Its been facing many problems in the past months like bitcoin hard forks like BCH, BTG and the upcoming 2x segwit, but still standing strong for its user.  I wish bitcoin to be greater and stronger in the upcoming years to come.

It is of course, considering how tremendously well it has soared in the past few months. Bitcoi has already done over 500℅ in price increment since January this year. It hasn't seen this kind of frog jump in years. The awareness and spread has been awesome. I believe it will do more in 2018.

Indeed in the year 2017 bitcoin price increase is quite significant compared to previous years.This opportunity should be able to maximize both for investors in getting doubled profits later so that in every transaction can also make feelings of being happy.

We all witnessed the soaring increase per month.

May hit the 2000$

August hit the 3000$ and 4000$ per Bitcoin

October hit the 5000$ and 6000$ per Bitcoin

We are waiting to hit 10K$ per Bitcoin before the end of this year.

same here. I dont think bitcoin will ever disappear. I do believe it will only get better and better in the years to come. cryptocurrencies will be the thing of the future. how we purchase and do things online will go side by side with cryptocurrencies. New and better coins are even coming I saw one thats about to pop on 20 NOVEMBER of this year. and asset backed  coin.

It's affect the price of bitcoin for sure but in the end bitcoin still strong and the price can go up again easily. These issues are not giving a huge affect though, that's why in 2017 bitcoin still strong and i'm sure the price of bitcoin will break a new record in the end of 2017.

2007 is indeed a great year for bitcoin. In January the price was around $800 per coin, and now it is over $6,000. Huge gain...

a very correct opinion in my opinion is bitcoin mengej turmoil in 2017 and this need not be afraid to increase the price of bitcoin.
 

Perhaps its these regulations itself that made 2017 the year for bitcoins. At first it did hit a low value, but maybe that's the very reason why a lot of people started to invest in bitcoins. It's proof that they do believe its value will start growing again. Additionally, these regulations created media noise that raise awareness for Bitcoins. These kinds of advertising made people take bitcoins more seriously rather than a scam. Lastly, people always invests in something that China bans. ;)

Yeah a very good year for bitcoin for 2017. Many ups and downs, many fork happened, many alt coins come in but still bitcoin manage to go up after all of this. Hopefully 2018 will still bring bitcoin to the top and more Central Banks will accept it.

Indeed it is,this is due to bitcoin is making noise to media mainstream which makes it more people making interest in terms of long term investment.Many speculated reports about btc that its bubble but look now many online store are now accepting btc.And many miners have been mining and im sure btc will not be gone.

This is the First step so that bitcoins will become a full money of the whole world. So let's get ready because there's more to it. This is the beginning of the crypto revolution that the world will be cashless and fast as we expect. And we expect that banks will be removed. So get ready for bitcoins while the price is still great.

What I think is that, 2017 is just the start of bitcoins reign, its gonna be more known and many investors and bitcoin users are gonna invest in bitcoin. Bitcoin is gonna be known world wide and its value will continue to rise even though some countries are not infavor of it. Bitcoin is gonna continue to rise because its got many investors and users who are just rushing to get their hands on it.

I started this year but I feel like I’m lucky to be at this year when I think of it not being part of the pioneers in investing and believing bitcoin I’m regrettable. But 2017 is enough to fill that gap and earned that just enough. When I started it’s over 2000$ I think if I’m not mistaken, now it’s 6300$ that’s something.

From the first fork in August some people were scare of loosing in the process but now people have realized that the fork is even making bitcoin more stronger and valuable. The fork is now attracting more investors.

We cannot go with this prediction because it is just what has happened in the past and does not guarantee the same return for the future. Yes everyone would love it it reaches 10k as quickly as possible but we will even need to be more realistic that in 2 months will it cross 3.5k ?

2017 is a very different year on bitcoin than in the previous year. this is seen in very significant bitcoin price movements. although china and south korea stop bitcoin operations, it does not become a big influence for bitcoin because until now it has been proven that bitcon will indeed always persist in a long period of time even could become the official major currency in the whole country.

We still have Xmas and Black Friday coming in November and December where there are usually a higher demand for coins, because a lot of merchants have Black Friday & Xmas specials. If these people make use of Payment processors, then we will see a small drop in the price, because all these coins will end up on exchanges.

If the merchants decide to hoard them, we will see a slight increase in the price, due to the higher demand. If people use some of the coins they hoarded all year, the price will drop. Lets see if the demand will be bigger than the supply. ^smile^

Amen. Bitcoin and ETH went through amazing pops this year, and I feel as though the new guys are going to expect this momentum to keep up until we hit 10k.

There is no way this is sustainable. If we do see an additional year of growth like this one, we should be wary. What goes up must come down; especially in the case of massive profits that can be taken at any moment. There are still guys riding the train from 90-300 USD BTC. Every day that a person like this wakes up, is heaven. They understand that they can sell with no afterthought. Surely the price will never regain those levels again. So when you think about buying BTC at these price levels, without at least waiting for dips, think about another guy with really old bitcoins pushing a sell button ;)

Exactly, You can see the price rise of Bitcoin in year 2017 from 1000$ to now 6000+ $ and such a rise in price and value has never been seen before in bitcoin or any other currency.  2017 brought a lot of changes in bitcoin which includes hard forks and more making it a important year .

maybe 2017 is not the best year to buy BTC but think of the years to come of what will btc reach and the profit you will have soon.

I think you're right so far, the amount of media material and coverage has been pretty fascinating to be part of. But what I love is seeing the community grow and watch YouTube channels from sprouting up to being pretty big influential people in this realm that is relatively new if you think about it. Perhaps 2018 will be even a bigger year as well.

well i think year 2017 is not ending maybe we have the right to predict but i think it is really hard to predict that year 2017 is the year of bitcoin.because we really dont know what will happen in the next few years from now maybe btc will be rising continueous and it is continue to rise so then i can really say that maybe there will be another years for bitcoin .because there is a big capability and a great posibility that bitcoin will rise in the next coming years.

This is a remarkable year in the history of bitcoin a lot of opportunities opens up this year because of the price appreciation many were able to get a high profit for investment and even some become financially stable. 2017 is the most prosperous year of bitcoin no wonder the popularity of bitcoin become wider this year also many people start to invest and work hard to earn bitcoin I just hope next year will still be a blessed year for bitcoin.

bitcoin now is really like a roller coaster with the high of the price and the price can make people got heart attack if they don't very strong to see the price is up and down. i am agree that 2017 is the year for bitcoin which people know bitcoin from many source and they are interesting with bitcoin and now they are learning bitcoin to make money. but i don't think that with many bad news that you said will make people worried to use bitcoin because people still want to use bitcoin and they believe that bitcoin can help them to make money.

Yes. The price of Bitcoin started to soar high in November 2016 when Donald Trump was elected as the US president and breaks the $1000 mark in January 2017 ...maybe it's just a coincidence. I have a record to show, it's below...

when I see a surge in bitcoin prices this year which reaches almost 7 times the price at the beginning of the year, I agree that this year is the beginning of the revival of this technology. With the growing number of big companies like microsoft, steam, amazon, it certainly becomes a stepping stone for bitcoin to continue to skyrocket. But we must be prepared with all the possibilities that occur. The worst possibility, such as from 2014 to 2016, takes 2 years to raise prices.

2017 is the year where more and more people became aware of bitcoin that caused
more and more issues being thrown against it and some countries moderating its use.

Since bitcoin overcame those issues and people awareness became higher then the price
went with it. I could say we should expect much higher price in the next years,

It is still not over. I think that the upcoming SegWit2x fork is probably the most dangerous of all and it could do some real damage. But i have to agree, 2017 was really expansive year both regarding the value and the adoption but probably the largest expansion was in awareness of the people not directly connected to the bitcoin since it was a lot of related news.

Yeah thats because bitcoin is having that potential and a spark to overcome any other currency in the crypto community or in the real world asset too. This is not the good year for bitcoin but its the best after seeing all the hard stuff it went inferno of it. Yeah, 2017 is truly memorable to bitcoin. For one we started this year below $1000 and now we have gone above $7000. What can you ask for more?

We see a lot of ups and downs this year, ETF being rejected by SEC, then Japan entering the picture pushing the price to places we never seen. Then there is the threat of Ethereum, even the idea of "flippening" was entertained for some time. Then Bitcoin Cash comes along breaking the community, however, we decided to stick with BTC. Then China shenanigans comes along together with the bashed from Jamie Dimon. But bitcoin remains steadfast and very resilient from all of this, conquering everything and now (un)settling to $7000. We still have December and a lot of things came happened, but I do believed that we are going to end the year with a bang.

Then it suffered a huge trouble that made its value to fall. But it was able to overcome it and now having a market value of 7400$ and still has a chance for its value to increase because of the fork this month.

I can call the year 2017 bitcoin, if only because this year I learned about it and started investing my money. If to consider in general, really bitcoin made very good progress for this year, its popularity has increased many times, as well as price.

Well, about whole 2017, in January the price of each BTC was around $700~$1000, now BTC worth $7000. If 2018 get at least half of this increase i will be happy, but i know that can be better.

After all that bitcoin has suffered look how well it is and how big is the price. However we aproach the end of 2017 and it's time for bitcoin to have it's correction that we all wait for :)). 2017, for sure! Bitcoin has improved and increased in value a lot this year, including how people recognize its potential. However, I also think that it will push through and extend in the coming years because more and more countries, people and companies alike are beginning to see its better potential that would really propel it to be in the global and mainstream market.

It may be a roller coaster, and its value keeps on going up and down in a blink. I would agree that 2017 did a lot of good things for the bitcoin market, not only in its market value, but more so, in its marketability and recognition. Although many countries are still reluctant and doubtful of what it can do and bring. For the past few months, yes it is the year for bitcoins but as of now it turned out that bitcoin is having a hard time to go up again because the whales are now moving out and transferring to bitcoin cash which is the trend right now and the center of the hype because it is climbing up like crazy as bitcoin in the past few weeks.

I can't agree less, 2017 wasn't only a year for Bitcoins but the entire Cryptocurrency world. We have witnessed alot of new alts springing into the market and making an indelible impression. Bitcoin on the other hand was at it best this year, irrespective of the ups and downs, it still gave people a reason to invest in it.

Yes, I believe in it because more is enough to record the increase of people who know bitcoins. In the year also it had a succession of Segwit or dividing two bitcoins. Hard Fork. Here we have seen higher rates of bitcoins that resulted in more people investing in the hope that they will also earn money on increasing bitcoins. Because as the year 2017 starts the bitcoins are not that expensive but look at it today they are almost tripled the price from their was before and still growing. No matter what hindrances happens they always successfully surpass it. Just  like the segwit their value drops a lot but still manage to rise again after it and also the china banning situation, they also fall on that but after a while set a new record high and up to now still growing tremendously like nothing can stop.them at this moment.

Coming to the ending of 2017, i would have say that bitcoin has been an amazing run. Not only that, other alt coins have grown to show that blockchain and crypto world is getting more and more recognised. It is not longer just a bitcoins but other valuable coins.

Bitcoin has faced many challenges like Chinese exchange ban which made the price down but crossing it all this year bitcoin has met its all time highs and is keeps on increasing. The second part of segwit2x that increases the size of blocks  shows its effect next month making the price to hit even more heights and 2018 will be again a promising year for bitcoin.
