There is the client so you can put up a node and a CPU miner (uses 'AvestaHash', a proprietary hash algo). You'll need to: - Register on the site to get an account - Go to the blog post where there is a link to download client and miner. I'm currently waiting for the client to sync, it's taking a while, guess there not many peers yet. Oh, and if you have questions contact them on Facebook. They answered my questions in minutes both times. Theres no output from the miner window so can't tell you exactly WHAT its doing.. I did some digging and thier client seems to be built on cryptonote, but I have tried pointing XMR stak at the RPC port and it tries to connect but it just times out (tried both monero and aeon). Looks like it's CPU mining only at the moment, if that is in fact working.. They have the keys for your wallet. The fact that they are not releasing an actual wallets is a big concern. OK, just noticed that they are coming out with desktop wallets. But maybe this type of thinking appeals to some crypto nutcases. Nice CPU, Ryzen 1600 @ 4Ghz here. Works well but those extra couple of cores would be nice. Have the same problem with GPU minng at the same time, and even on 'below normal' the whole PC freezes up for about 10->15 seconds every once in a while with the miner running. The whole network will operate like a pool, 1.9 AVE to the miner who found the block and 1.0 AVE split amongst all other miners. It's a very cool system. '--log-level 5' is the best your going to get for now. Although.. in the post linked above they do mention releasing 'mining stats'...?? When I first try to sync my daemon I had a similar problem on the block 660240 (I think). But now if I remember, the problem was solved by himself a few hours later. Maybe this is a problem with the node you are connecting to, try check on daemon which one you are connected, since I remember before coming to bed, that there is one node out of sync or not possible to connect, something like that, maybe that's the problem. - Even without knowing the hash rate right now, I would assume that comparing to other miners (XMR stak or Claymore) this miner does not yet reach its maximum capabilities, but more important I notice an increase of power consumption of circa 40% on my cpu, with the same specs(???) used by Stak for example. - On the Daemon, it is not possible to save, the only command that saves is exiting, since it freezes and crashes every hour, and I usually need to rebuild the DB, maybe this could mitigate the problem, I know we are early adopters, but i am basically sitting in front of my computer looking to the miner and waiting him to crash, is quite stressfull :'( - How can we miners help you more by giving you more inputs, which information are you looking for? - ( I know almost nothing about coding, just want to give you my input, hoping you can improve things) - Please improve your communications channels and bring us miners more information. I know you already have a broad support, but I personally believe that the miners will help to spread the word and makes this coin big, as I think it deserves to be. - Improve your Readme file at the miner with more information, it will help people. Aparenty it's a known issue which is fixed in the new version of the miner and client.
PS.. now, come close because I don't want to say this too loud or loads of people will hear.. but a new miner and client are on the way in 'the next few days'.. but don't tell anyone I told you ;) I'm quite excited about this because in thier last blog post they mentioned stats for miners.. maybe the miner is about to display has rates etc??? I am having trouble with the DB, it takes hours to rebuild. Last time, the daemon lasted just about an hour after rebuilding the DB on one machine. Though the other machine ran +24h without issues. If it is technically feasible at the moment, I suggest a miner build into a wallet, it has some advantages. I think it would also best suit your reward structure (1.9+1) and spread the hashrate, especially if you add mobile wallets. The wallet/miner from coinage looks promising although they are in a very early stage, too. I think everyone has had multiple issues with Avestad, so please don't think it's something wrong with your build and then spend ages trying to figure out what it is. Chances are it's not your machine(s). The only advice we can offer at present is to stop the process once a day and take a copy of the DB folder. That way you won't have to re-sync from scratch next time it corrupts. When you back up the contents of the DB folder you also need to grab a copy of the blockindexes.bin and blocks.bin files. These files look like they are index's of the contents of the DB folder and yesterday I had to restore these as well as the contents of the DB folder. Alternatively, you can also add to following to the end of you miners command line ;D ' --daemon-address avesta.webredirect.org:9971' I have a second machine with the client on that is just running avestad on this address. Feel free to mine against it if you need too\dont want to run your own copy. I make no promises with regards to uptime (but I use it so I'll be doing my best to make sure it's up) or performance (it's and I5 750 @4Ghz with 8GB of RAM and an SSD onN 5Ghz wifi, so it should be quick). EDIT: One further tip... I have recently found that disabling Windows write caching on the drive that holds the DB files massively improves the stability of the Avestad software. Up untill yesterday everything appeared to be working fine while mining to my local copy of Avestad. Avestad was reporting that it was sucessfully sync'd to the network, and I was getting block found messages in the miner. The Avestad logs were also reporting 'block added to main chain' while referencing block hashes that my miners had found. When it went down yerterday I assumed it was due to the upgrade, but as nothing seems to have happened I was going to carry on. In light of the above I'm not sure how to interprit what you are saying? Does this mean that it was working when it shouldn't have been, or are you saying that despite it saying it was working it wasn't actually working and that's 5 days of mining down the pan? Also, you did mention that you were thinking about centralising all the mining through a central URL, but I haven't seen any actual announcement for this change? I thought this was just something you were considering, and given that mining to a local copy of Avestad was working fine (or at least appearing too) no one would have any reason to think otherwise. PS: my copy of AvestaD on another machine has just sync'd, are you sure the network is offline? In some aspects you are right, this is more a centralized project, but if you don´t like it there are plenty of projects launched every day that could suit you. I personally would hope for some changes, but for now I am happy with the overall project. Do some research, this is a company with an ICO, so they are in their right to implement what they think is best for them, and we have the right to choose if you want be part of it or no. It can take at this moment several days for the balance to confirm, because we want to administrate and check fair payments. Which will become <1hr in the future. The thing is, with a block-time this fast the change is very very big several people find the same block at the same time. Thats why 1.0 AVE of the block-reward is held in by the nodes to payout the rest of the miners for their effort. The nice thing of Avesta is that everyone gets rewards distributed more fair, and don't need the use of mining pools anymore. For shifty252 - You don't need a desktop wallet to show the TX's of the blocks found, you need a block explorer. - You can always download Avesta Core v2 and sync the blockchain and run your own explorer if you don't trust it. - Mining is currently only supported with Mining software that connect with our custom protocol, and don't expect to see any GPU/Asics in the new future. - Finding 3 blocks doesn't mean you get rewarded 3 blocks, you have the chance to get rewarded. If you just want to be able to hold value on a publicly verifiable encrypted ledger and transfer that value to other parties\recieve value from other parties then there are literally 1000's of options out there. That's fine for the fairly tech savy person who understands private keys and such. But it's not fine for the average person that just want's to buy a cup of coffee. For the average person blockchain is just too much of a flaff to use. Would you use your visa card to order something online if you had to type in a 64\128\256 character key every time you wanted to make a transaction? Maybe some would, but a lot of people wouldn't. Blockchain isn't simple, and Avesta are trying to make it a lot simplier whilst retaining a lot of the benefits, hence you get things like account numbers instead of private keys but you also get a full blockchain explorer. I went through hundreds of ICO's last year looking for those with the greatest promise, and Avesta came out on top because of the potential use case. I suspect theres quite a bit of work to do before Avesta gets listed, which isn't a bad thing. Better to have a well developed infrastructure in place first. The total supply of this coin will be around 130 millions, and 100.000.000 will be mined in the next 40 years, that means there is only roughly 32million coins in circulation right now. Value de coin at "only" 16 million euros. In my opinion and if they deliver what they intend to do, that's a very cheap company, so even if the price is settled by the market, I will expect an increase in price in the future. The price at the end is what the buyers will want to pay for them.
