Post by: iQCash on November 02, 2017, 12:44:12 AM
iqcash.net (http://iqcash.net/)
iQCash: Solve an iQ puzzle => earn 1 iQCash. (Mining with POHW - Proof of HUMAN work)

With 4 weeks left till iQCash puzzles go live, we're running a contest to see who can solve the puzzle on the back of the iQCash token.

The challenge is to identify the missing value in the center square.
http://iqcash.net/wp-content/uploads/2017/11/iQCash-Side2LowAngle.png

The first to successfully provide the answer and an explanation why will receive the prize.
The prize:
0.01 BTC if solved in the first week (i.e. Nov. 2nd - Nov. 8th)
0.02 BTC if solved in the second week (i.e. Nov. 9th - Nov. 16th)
0.04 BTC if solved in the third week (i.e. Nov. 17th - Nov. 23rd)
0.08 BTC if solved in the fourth week (i.e. Nov. 24th - Nov. 30th)
If not solved during November, the competition will be cancelled, and there will be no prize awarded.

The puzzle is now solved and the contest is closed.

Currency spelling is read in the lined squares. For the other letters, i take english equivalents for greek letters, alpha squared taken as two a's, y-2 as w and altogether the image gives the following sentence:

"Chip work as a currency." This must be a credit card, shortened as cc, so my answer is

c squared

(implying cc just like alpha squared in the image)

or, :), if the answer is easier, it is simply s, making the sentence grammatically correct and implying all cryptos by making that statement..

No. You get as many attempts as you want. The first to solve it gets the prize.

And when you figure it out, it won't be a guess.

Post by: Mintycash on November 09, 2017, 12:51:44 AM
I think is:

n

n

Reason being:
-Looking just at the letters of currency and how they are spreaded.
-from left to right there are 3 lines going upwards.
-Every line has 3 letters, 2 repeated and 1 extra.
-The top line repeats c and the Cs are splitted.
-The bottom line repeats r and they are at the top of the line.
-The middle line should have 2 repeated letters at the bottom of the line. As the first bottom letter is an 'n' the second must be an 'n' aswell.

May as well throw that out there.

A couple more guesses because I'd be pretty upset if someone did propose them after me dismissing them and it being right!

The diamond figure that surrounds the word iQCash on the edges.
The Waves token symbol
A question mark! (You asked us to identify the symbol, haha)

it can't be an alphabet, otherwise it'll be solved after 28 attempts. I can't decipher Chinese caracters...
since the reward increases every week, it 'll be wise to not attempt anything until the fourth week  :D

On periodic table there is a continous route from potassium to silver:

K-Ca-Y-Hf-Ta-W(Y-2)-Re-Os-Ir-Pt-Au-Ag (au-ag is alpha squared)

We dont have a T in the image, so the answer is T.

Edit:

If s in Os does not count i can add scandium (Sc) in the route such as;

K-Ca-Sc-Y-....

Or 'X', because 'X' also means 'any value' in mathematics.

If you take the letters (other than the chinese characters), using a^2 as two letter a and y-2 as w, then they rearrange to:

"crack our cypher wins a" the end to that sentence is the answer. So my guess is: "1 iQCash" or "BTC" or "0.02 BTC" depending on if you mean this puzzle or any iQCash puzzle.

Or if I've misinterpreted the sentence and it actually reads "crack our cypher, a wins" then my guess is: "a" -- because that wins.

I imagine some will want to wait until the first minute of the fourth week (starting at 12:00 am UTC), but then will worry that someone else will go early to be sure to snatch the prize. An extra dilemma to consider...

If anyone can help me to find what is this h with underscore (why an underscore?), what's your propositions for y-2 (my guess: "w"), alpha square (my guess: "aa"). I will share some part of the prize (let's say 20 to 50% depending on the help) if I win ;-) PM me.

Okay, so here's my answer.

The squares with lines is an anagram for currency
Now for all the other symbols. From left to right, top to bottom:

Chinese symbol upper left is for Nitrogen --> N
h (macron below) --> H
Greek i is for Iota --> I
greek Sigma --> S
Greek Phi --> P
Greek alpha x 2 --> AA
y - 2 is 2 characters before y --> W
C --> C
Greek p is for Rho --> R
Greek Omega --> O
Greek Kappa --> K
Chinese symbol lower right is for Category --> C

So all first letters from those words are:

NHISPAAWCROKC
This is a anagram for CHIP CAN WORK AS

Now put both anagrams together you will have:CHIP CAN WORK AS CURRENCY

The answer is NFC

*fingers crossed*  :)

By changing the letters for the equivalent number in the abecedary.

Symbol: g

g= 7th letter in the abecedary.

In the diagonals crossing the missing symbol.

the letter n (14) + g (7)=  u (21).
the letter r (18) + g (7)= y (25).

I don't suppose the answer is "Yes"?

Upper left in chinese symbol for Nitrogen
H underlined
Iota
Sigma
Pi
Alpha squared
y - 2
c
rho
omega
kappa
Chinese Symbol for Category

NHISPAAWCPOKC

Other squares spelled out "currency" when read clockwise

CURRENCY CHIP CAN WORK AS
or
CAN CHIP WORK AS CURRENCY(?)
to which the answer is "yes" or "y"

(P.S. It took me way too long to do this)

Hello iQCash,

I think I have found a possible solution/explanation for the puzzle. My answer is the symbol =

All of the symbols in squares symbolize a letter.

By reading the plain diagonals from left to right we have :

First diagonal
i -> i
chinese symbol which derives from "qi" in chinese -> Q
=> iQ

Second diagonal
c -> c
alpha² (greek letter) -> a
sigma (greek letter) -> s
h underscored -> h
=> cash

Third diagonal
kappa (greek letter), can sound as a 'c' -> c
rho (greek letter), sounds as an 'r' -> r
y-2 -> y
pi (greek letter), sounds as a 'p' -> p
=> cryp

Fourth diagonal
chinese symbol which means "tea" -> t
omega (greek letter) -> o
=> to

And finally the word "currency" can be easily read clockwise in the other squares.
=> currency

Assembling these words gives the sentence : iQCash cryptocurrency

Considering the '?' symbol is missing in the middle of the sentence, the most logical value would be '=' as it also represents a solution of a problem :
iQCash = cryptocurrency

To sum up in a picture :
https://i.imgur.com/de5Gvg6.png

I hope this is correct ^^

Hello iQCash,

I think I have found a possible solution/explanation for the puzzle. My answer is the symbol =

All of the symbols in squares symbolize a letter.

By reading the plain diagonals from left to right we have :

First diagonal
i -> i
chinese symbol which derives from "qi" in chinese -> Q
=> iQ

Second diagonal
c -> c
alpha² (greek letter) -> a
sigma (greek letter) -> s
h underscored -> h
=> cash

Third diagonal
kappa (greek letter), can sound as a 'c' -> c
rho (greek letter), sounds as an 'r' -> r
y-2 -> y
pi (greek letter), sounds as a 'p' -> p
=> cryp

Fourth diagonal
chinese symbol which means "tea" -> t
omega (greek letter) -> o
=> to

And finally the word "currency" can be easily read clockwise in the other squares.
=> currency

Assembling these words gives the sentence : iQCash cryptocurrency

Considering the '?' symbol is missing in the middle of the sentence, the most logical value would be '=' as it also represents a solution of a problem :
iQCash = cryptocurrency

To sum up in a picture :
https://i.imgur.com/de5Gvg6.png

I hope this is correct ^^

Great answer, congrats! I'm not sure it is the good one, maybe something is missing but I had almost the same clues.
I'm not sure the square and the minus 2 are completely useless. Let's see iQCash answer...

So my answer is "+".
If you want to remove the alpha square and the minus 2, you should add them: 2 + - 2 = 0.
So you have "iQCash CryptoCurrency" in the end/

Another guess is " " (space). Do not bother with numbers and it is the character missing to write "iQCash CryptoCurrency" too.

It's not an equals sign nor a space, forgot to mention I guessed that one too. https://twitter.com/iQCash/status/931887500636831745

I think you're right, I think there's more complexity to it. I also guessed a-2 and 2-a for what it's worth, and those weren't correct.
I also guessed 0 for 2-2.

+ is a good one, thus cancelling out the twos, we'll see. Never guessed that one.

Then my answer will be the dash sign -

Because when you look at the Facebook page of iqcash, the info tab read the following.

Info
Promoting broader adoption, awareness and market knowledge of crypto-currencies

So the dash sign is what we are missing here.

while it may be an abbreviation like iQcash POHW cryptocurrency and the solution 'll be POHW

Lots of good work above. i.e. getting warmer.

But no correct answer yet.

The answer is not a space nor mathematical operator.

No. Only the symbols (letters, characters, numbers, etc) in the squares and the arrangement of the symbols matters.

There is one minor clue on the other side of the coin, but no solution offered yet is at the stage where that would be relevant.

Since the prime numbers on the other side maybe involved and the set of all primes is often denoted by P

answer: P

or if that aint it, then the 1st or 21st prime number because the square is the 1st or 21st square. Or a combination of prime and number square.

Answer: 2

My best guess is it is the value of this coin itself that is behind the questionmark.

Reading the whitepaper from the site gives the following information.
I guess the valeu will be 11 or 101

Explenation:
So if this is a puzzle from say round 15, the value will be 11,
if this is a puzzle from round 16, the value will be 101

Both these answers are a prime number.

Converting all letters to numbers alphabetical wise. Middle 3 rows all add up the same to 90+45+68 = 203. But 203 isnt prime number. To make it a prime the next prime number is 211. So we are 8 off.

The center square should read 8

The answer is L. The sum of 3rd column minus 2nd column and 3rd column minus 4th column are equal (without third row). The answer should be the average of 1(2nd column 3rd row) and 23(4th column 3rd row) which is 12. Latin 12th letter is l(L). The answer is in lowercase since all other lined squares have lowercase letters. Used same valuations with BudBudderly from highiqforum.

As second guess because currency spelling is read in lined squares. The letter L symbolizes Litecoin, which is Ł.

Another try. If you take the picture from the https://www.highiqforum.com/threads/contest-solve-the-puzzle-to-win-bitcoin.3311/page-3 post.
90 is the sum of 2 consecutive primes: 43 + 47.
68 is the sum of 2 consecutive primes: 31 + 37.
45 is the sum of all letters without the missing value.
On the other side of the coin the only missing prime is 41. So 41 must be in the equation.
So a guess could be -4 (45 - 4 = 41) or -2^2 or -b^2 or -D (delta)

Else we have:
* 37+41 = 78
* 41+43 = 84

So other guesses are:
* 78 - 45 = 33
* 84 - 45 = 39

My answer is 7, though I think it's a shot in the dark.

The three rows and columns currently sum up to 203.
The sum of the two solved rows = 90 and 68, both numbers that are the sum of 2 successive primes.
If we place 7 in the center, we get the sum of both three rows and columns each equalling 210 (again the sum of 2 successive primes, 103+107).
Also the middle row and column then sums to 52, another sum of two successive primes (23+29).

The thing that makes me think we're not exactly on the right track though is why he'd bother putting a² if it was just going to represent 1 either way, why not just put a?

If someone comes in now and gets the correct answer, it will be off the back of other's work. So, it's really been a team effort.

It's only fair that contributors who were first to make breakthrough steps will receive a consolation prize TBD.

The first was obviously the conversion of the symbols to characters of the English alphabet.

Of the last 9 guesses above, there was one of these breakthroughs.

There is one to go.

There is one to go.

Can't see what I'm missing here. conversion, substract, involution, adding up, prime numbers from the front........

New approach.

after conversion from letters to numbers, not all numbers are prime. So when I only add up the primes (17,3,19,3,23(25-2),3,11,5) you'll get 84.

Now 84 isn't prime. Next prime value is 89. Off by 5.

So the answer will be 5 because this is also a prime number.

(17+3+8) + (11+5+20) =64

45 + 64 = 109 (prime number)

Is it 55?

Sum of numbers for "currency" = 107

Sum of remaining numbers = 162

Difference between the two = 55.

I think we're getting too deep into the importance of primes but I'll try this guess: (26 or z)

If we place 26 in the centre square:
sum of all squares = 293 (prime)
sum of middle 3 rows = 229 (prime)
sum of middle 3 columns = 229 (prime)

Again the a² still has me bugged though, haha.

Are we sure the numerical representation of each letter is the right breakthrough? I think so but...

If the correct answer appears without an explanation I will definitely respond and ask for further detail.

But it's an unlikely guess, so I'm sure it'll be clear how it was derived.

The answer is alphanumeric.

Since just about every possible single letter has been guessed at already, it's safe to say it isn't a single character.

I don't quite see if anyone actually guessed 41, so I suppose I will. It was spoken about and I wonder if that's the simple link back to the flip side.

It does give a nice round number of 180 for the middle 9 squares but other than that, I'm not sure what else is special about it.

I like that - but it is not correct.

There's a few key posts that you'll need to scan through in the thread if you don't wish to redo all the decoding analysis done so far. But...if you're up for the challenge and want to test yourself on the puzzle without hints, go for it.

Okay time for bed but maybe one more shot.

If we place 57 in the centre square then both the middle 9 squares and all 21 squares sum up to squared numbers, 196 (14) and 324 (18).

If I substract 107 (currency) from 160 (IQCASHCRYPTO) it leaves us 53.
Use front of coin to check if its prime. It is.

So my answer is 53

Ok so maybe we need to use the prime numbers in a different way.

Extract the total of the prime numbers (84) from the total of the non prime numbers (183). This leaves us with the easy answer of 99

Which is also the atomic number of Einsteinium  ;D

Ha! Tunnelvision alright.

If it helps, I never said it was the primes that would help confirm the final step, just 'something' on the other side. That may or may not be the primes. Better to solve the puzzle first, then turn it over to check.

New approach.

On the coin next to the text 'IQ Cash cryptocurrency' there is a symbol made from 4 little blocks.
If I use these blocks in the puzzle around the questionmark, I find the numbers: 19 + 23+ 18 + 1. This makes a total of 61.

The answer is 61
When I flip the coin, you can see the number 61 right beneath the four little blocks to confirm the solution.

So I see a couple new hints that have me ask questions but still no answer.

If it's not primes there's not much else to the other side to confirm:

There's 120 letters around the circle or 125 characters if you consider the symbols as well.

If the solution is as easy as cryptoneal's "If I substract 107 (currency) from 160 (IQCASHCRYPTO) it leaves us 53." then I do have to wonder if we should consider the Kappa (k) as 11 for K or 3 for C in the word Crypto...

If it's 3 then we should be looking at 152 as the sum for IQCASHCRYPTO not 160. But why would we break up the words?

Shouldn't it be iQCash (57) and

Cryptocurrency
(204 if we forget about the -2 and use 3 for Kappa)
(202 if we consider the -2 and use 3 for Kappa)
(212 if we forget about the -2 and use 11 for Kappa)
(210 if we consider the -2 and use 11 for Kappa)

That leaves us with possible differences of 147, 145, 155 and 153 -- still nothing that I see helps me by turning over the coin to confirm...

Anyway, that's where I'm at.

5 x IQCash Currency instead of 4 x IQCash on the puzzle side
5 x 4 blocks instead of 8 x 4 blocks on the puzzle side

Agreed, I tried to narrow that down, many of them had to do with primes so I tossed those out so it came down to either a) the sum of the rows and columns being equal and there's something to that or b) My short note about a² being 1 either way and why the need for the square and there's something to that.

There was no application yet for the '²' and '-2'

So I tried to write 34 as 36 - 2, what also means 6² - 2 and finally f² - 2

Maybe it can be 'Z² - 2'

Where Z means zeta greek letter

I'm also thinking about Σ being not only the letter but also part of the answer representing a sum

I guess that the hidden number is 34, once it's half of 68

There was no application yet for the '²' and '-2'

So I tried to write 34 as 36 - 2, what also means 6² - 2 and finally f² - 2

But it wasn't my lucky day  ;D

Getting warmer.

2q (or 2Q) is the correct answer.

There are other reasons to confirm that, but I won't press on those.

Bonus points for a full detailing of the solution if someone wants to spot the missing pieces.

But otherwise, congratulations!

I'll have to get your BTC address, and I'll chase up a few people who made helpful breakthroughs to award consolation prizes.

You used elevated to the square and minus two to represente letters into numbers

I can't represent 34 with letters, because there are only 26. Even if I use +2 or -2 it won't be possible

6² - 2 was not the answer, so it only remains '2q', using the 2 and also a letter

Yes, it's amazing how the application of some very simple rules can result in something so complex.

I wouldn't be surprised if there's some super simple formula that describes the nature of the universe that still hasn't been discovered. And there's a bunch of aliens who slap their foreheads every time we get close but don't quite spot it.

So, in summary, to fill in any missing pieces:
Step 1: Convert the Chinese symbols to closest sounding letters + convert the Greek characters directly.

Step 2: Convert each character to its position in the alphabet.
(The spelling of 'crypto' was a red herring. The Greek character Kappa needed to remain K for the sums to work, but it would have been tempting to use 'c' and therefore 3 in the sums rather than 11.)

Step 2b: Sum the three intersecting rows and columns to get 68, 45 + ?, 90.

Step 3: Identify the mathematical sequence 68, 79, 90. Steps of 11. (Prime number) OR As lhvleao spotted, 45 = 90/2 hints that ? = 68/2. Either way, ? = 34 mathematically.

Step 4: As lhvleao realised, the numbers used in the sums must be converted FROM some algebraic form. Of the many possibilities, the only one that involved an operation with a 2 (a prime and the only number used in the original puzzle) and another prime number (in fact, the first clearly visible prime on the other side of the coin) was 2Q.

It was a celebration of the common iQ Puzzle tricks: symbols representing numbers, sequences, primes, algebra + arithmetic.

Thanks and congrats.

We'll do this again in the future, but the focus for the next few months will be the launch of the iQCash puzzles Round 1.
The first round will present 8 million super easy puzzles.
You won't find an easier time to earn iQCash but they may be a bit boring for many, so for a short time, there's still a small percentage of iQCash up for sale on Waves DEX. Find the Waves/iQCash trading pair. You will need to use the iQCash asset id to find it: 2fiCMUZgBZHs7DtwjyTET8gyToNNX1X5r8zUaouqoztQ

iQCash is a long term project. It will take time to solve all the simple puzzles. But once the puzzles start getting harder, the limited supply and increasing difficulty will hopefully create an environment for Bitcoin-like price rises.
