Title: [NR 1]: Triplemining.com || 1 BTC(or more) jackpot every week
Post by: MrSam on June 28, 2011, 01:45:06 PM
Whatever your hash rate is, all current pools will give you more or less the same results. With Triplemining.com we offer you the possibility to triple your results by a clever minipool system. As soon as two of your friends (with equal or superior hash rate to yours) mine with us too, you increase your BTC mining income dramatically.
(your friends do not need to have more hashrate then you, but the better the more you make!)

With bitcoin mining, pool hash rate (= speed), mining difficulty and a little bit of luck play a central part. Big pools can be depressing, especially if your hash rate is not that great while too small pools with a streak of bad luck leave you with some kind of a stomachache.

To counter this, Triplemining aims to bring together a medium-sized pool with no fees and clever redistribution of 1% of every found block to allow your share to grow more rapidly than on any other bitcoin mining pool.

   How do we achieve this?

For every found block, we redistribute a share of the 1% fee to all minipool owners (people with 1 or more friends mining with them). The redistribution is connected to the shares found by your friends, not yours! So if the hash rate of your friends equals or is bigger than yours, your part in the redistribution will be equally bigger.

For every found block we increase our jackpot by the remaining part of the 1% fee (after minipool owners have been rewarded). Once per week the jackpot is paid-out, randomly connected to the find of a block, to one miner active at the moment of the find.

By doing this Triplemining is virtually fee-free.

If you're not convinced yet, let us add this to change your mind
Statistically everyone has the same procential chance of finding a block, the only variable is time. Although time can be a psychological factor in considering what pool to mine with, the results are the same all over. A new pool is no different in that respect.

With Triplemining.com however, we offer you a chance to virtually increase your hash rate with every friend you add to your minipool. In addition your bitcoin mining with us can be rewarded on a weekly basis with our jackpot. So in a way, the fact that we are small and new is an asset. If you are looking for better rewards and bigger share participation, Triplemining.com is the way to go.

Right now I am making about 1.5 bitcoins every 2 days.

Did you allready register on the site ? Once you did that you will have to create a worker.

Sure, and if you don't use a pool, you could get 50BTC in a minute. It's just incredibly unlikely.

I predict that this pool will fill with suckers with very low hash. Why? It's the same reason MLM schemes usually fail. People hope to bring in a few friends who will do the real work. They try to bring in a few friends who will do the real work. The people doing the real work don't want to give up even 1% to people who aren't doing real work if they don't have to. So they won't join this pool.

That said, something halfway in-between solo mining and pooled mining might be cool. Say, for each block found, 50% goes to the miner who found it and pay per share at half the going rate. Or 50% goes to the miner who found it and the other 50% is split based on shares.

Well, people doing the real work could add other below them as well ?

Either way, both of them have a chance of winning the jackpot, it still is a matter of luck, but there are odd's that you don't even have on other pools

We also got over 10Ghash in only 10 hours after launch!

Happy mining, and be sure to invite your friends.

I'm currently working on the iPad and iPhone versions (should be live tomorrow). What other devices should i support ?

I am also working on a 'notification system' that sends an email to users when the last share submit of a miner is > X minutes.

Do you guys think that i should create a page where you can see who has the most 'friends' in his minipool and stuff like that ?
Or a page that shows the users hashrate ?

I'm not sure if that is personal information or not and i should show it...

Anyway: The jackpot is not that far off now :) be prepared to win 0.5 Bitcoins !

NOTICE: there are still users with no bitcoin address configured, if you do not have an address i cannot payout the jackpot to you!

There is always a jackpot, which is rewarded to one active miner.

And you can always create your own subpool, even if you have someone above you.

Which is easy enough to do too - I signed up earlier today and already have 1 person in my pool.

Btw: The jackpot works in a way that only users that are currently mining have the chance of winning, that number is displayed top left on the site, so 32 right now.

I see. so only one of those who are mining at the time when Jackpot is hit. and that time is also random right?

I have 2Gig hashes that I have been planning on moving to a new pool...

I am not following the payment... has the pool found block yet?  Like it says you have not... How are the miners paid?

If I join your pool with my 2-3 gigahases per/sec, is there a chance that I will not be paid if we dont find a block in 24 hours?

What about by the hour.,..?  Are payments made by the hour or what is the deal ?  Only if a block is found do you get paid?...

correct, there are no blocks found yet
I guess its the same with every pool and even solo mining. . payout is possible only after the block is found and you'll be payed out for your solved shares after validation.
this is some 2 days new pool currently running at 10 GHash/s+, its just matter of time until the block is found. your 2-3 Ghashes would certainly help us to achieve this goal faster ;)

Funny you should post this. I was just about to post on this topic myself when I saw your post however I was about to post on how good the invalid rate is lol

In my case I have 2 x miners with a total of 15998 shares, and just 86 invalids!

The flags I use in guiminer are -v -w128 -f60 -a1

-a1 increases the 'get' rate. Might be worth a try.

Ok, you will be in a pool but you are also now a pool 'owner' as well. So (and other members can correct me here if I'm wrong) you will only see those people you recruit (ie those that join your pool), but the owner of the pool you joined will still be able to see you. Hope this makes sense  :-\

If your using guiminer try a flag of -a1

Post by: EskimoBob on July 02, 2011, 07:13:16 AM
I use Phoenix and I am not sure it has a setting similar to guiminer "-a1"

Command line options
Phoenix arguments

-v (verbose) - Logs additional debug messages to the console. Default is disabled.

-q (queue size) - Sets the size of the internal work queue. Default is 1. This shouldn't need to be changed for most GPU miners.

-a (average samples) - Sets the number of samples to use for hashrate averaging. Default is 10. You might want to lower this for longer kernel execution times. (high aggression)

-u (URL) - Sets the URL of the work server. The correct protocol is selected based on the prefix (RPC for http://, MMP for mmp://)

-k (kernel) - Selects which kernel to load. Default is poclbm. All other arguments MUST come before specifying a kernel. Any arguments after -k are sent to the kernel.

First Block Party: so it's a fact, our first block has been found! To celebrate, we are giving away 10 BTC! The only requirement is that we reach 50 GHash/s before July, 5th 2011 and keep it up for at least 24 hours.

Everyone can participate, minipools and solo miners.
5 BTC will be distributed amongst everyone by counting the number of submitted shares (starting today July 2, 2011).
5 BTC will be distributed amongst the TOP 5 minipools, 1 BTC for each team.
The extra reward for the minipools is paid out to the team leader.

More information -> https://www.triplemining.com/pool_stats :)

im not asking this because i dont trust the pool but because i genuinely dont know:

did everybody receive their payouts yet? my balance still states 0 , reward that needs validation is 0.38

sry if this is annoying, but i thought it only takes a few mins after a round to compute the payouts?

Check the Block stats tab:

Block 134362   IMMATURE   50.0075   8 hours ago   668796    Needs 50 more confirmations

I believe mrsam is going to automate the process so its faster to pay out in future

Hej guys, i want to be as open as i can about this. When a block is found, i get a message as a pool owner that looks like this :
bitcoind@eu:~$ bit listtransactions
[
    {
        "account" : "",
        "category" : "immature",
        "amount" : 50.00750000,
        "confirmations" : 73,
        "txid" : "8997409318ca566fceed73bb4ac9d58979a25451c6ed047a39b1e7572e7d790f",
        "time" : 1309601162
    }
]

this proves that we found a block, but if i check my balance:
$ bit getbalance
0.00000000

The reason is that a block needs 120 confirmations before the balance is added to your account. (each time a block is found on the network is another confirmation.

Very big pools pay out the users immediatly when a block is found because they give the money up front (and they find 10 blocks an hour).

As soon as the pool grows a bit, we will also hopefully have some spare bitcoins to pay you faster, untill then it is the 120 confirmations rule (as on many other pools)

I could also put the money in your 'balance' but and not give you the ability to click the payout button, but that seems wrong, that is the reason we choose for the 'needs validation' option.

I don't understad how to join a mini-pool. I tried to go to the register page of the pool, but i justget a new independent account. Please help me to understand this, or better: https://josell.triplemining.com/my_pool

Did you click someones referral link to get to the page? If not you wont have a cookie saved and so wont link to a pool.
. I click some referencial links, but when I registered, I get another independent account instead join a pool; I dont understand.

Here is an example:
User 1  registers on www.triplemining.com.
User 2 registers on user1.triplemining.com.

At this time user 1 will be able to see user 2 in the 'my pool' page. User 2 will see an empty list.

User 3 registers on user2.triplemining.com.

At this time user 1 will see user2 , and user2 will see user3 in his team. User 3 will see an empty list.

The reason for this is that we dont want a pyramid or ponzi story, every one is a pool owner. The only way to grow your pool is to have other users register under yourusername.triplemining.com, you will never see your 'parent'.

I hope this clears everything up ..

User 1 is MrSam with a slow or non-existent miner
User 2-5 is Mr Sam's buddies that pay mr sam 1% of their shares,
user 6- are suckers that pay MrSam .5% and his buddies .5% of their shares,
more users are suckers that pay MrSam .3% and his buddies .3% and the previous people .3% of their shares...

See how it is shaped like a pyramid? With the bottom 80% paying a 1% fee to enrich the top? They pay .5 BTC per round to people who don't even have to mine any more. Deepbit makes 1.5 BTC a round for not mining though, so I guess it's not tragic.

The web site says something different than the top post about the payment structure, and neither give enough detail of the payment scheme to see how pyramid-y it is.

I don't think you really understand how it works. The workers under the 'owner' aren't giving up any of their earned share to said owner.
They just take in their hash work for that block and apply it to that 1% fee that they took and redistribute that 1% back to minipool owner's.

That's not how it works. The person you quoted got it right. You only get shares for those that directly joined your minipool.

Even if it's unfounded, bitcoin already gets too much flak for seeming like a pyramid scheme.  Isn't actually turning it into a pyramid scheme the last thing we need?

Keep in mind, the tech is solid, the only way to kill bitcoin at this point is through bad press.  We don't need more bad press.

I'm actually getting tired of having to defend triplemining from being called a pyramid scheme. We are one of the only pools that returns everything to the members, where you see some other pool owners running off with 3,4,5 % of the pool income (With deepbit leading this), and yet there nobody complains.

But the moment that you redistribute some of the pool income based on work, you are called a Ponzi schemer.

I really have nothing to gain by you joining or leaving, my income stays the same: 0 BTC.

Alright, so probably what's happening here is I just don't understand how this works.  How exactly are your % of the total hashes translated into payouts? What if you're the pool owner, what if you're hashing under someone, or if you're in the middle.  Also, don't get me wrong, I don't think anyone's calling this a Ponzi scheme, that's just something else.  But the description on the front page makes it sound... "pyramidy", maybe you just need to look at the wording.

Another question though, you mentioned you give everything back to the workers and that your income stays at 0.  How do you plan to keep the site going?

I'm sorry for my last post, i had a bad day ;)

Let my try and explain this:

So, first of all, there is no middle, you only have one parent.

User1 registers , user2 registers below user1, user3 registers below user 2

-user1: gives away 1%(of his mining income) to his parent (this is the pool policy) and has no parent, this goes to the pool jackpot. (random winner, daily/weekly)

This user gives 1% to the pool, but get's more in return from his children

-user2 gives away 1%(of his mining income)  to his parent, in this case user1.
This user gives 1% to the parent, but get's more in return from his children

user3 gives away 1%(of his mining income)  to his parent, in this case user2
This user gives 1% to the parent, has no children. (but can get children at any time)

-- Conclusion:
- If you join and you plan on NEVER winning the jackpot than you might be better of at a 0% fee pool (not deepbit, thats 3% for the owner or 10% if pps)

- If you join and plan to bring even only one friend, you could recuperate the 1% fee, and have the possibility to make more then any other pool.

- Their are currently users actually making more then double then they would elsewhere, all you have to to is convice some friends to join you.

- If you register below someone or not, there is allways 1% if your mining income that goes back to the pool. (Jackpot or parent)

I can't believe how quick people are to complain about the fee redistribution... People would apparently rather have MrSam pocket the 1% rather than give it back to the miners. This system is awesome because even cpu miners can make some real BTC if they promote their link enough. Nobody is getting scammed here, everyone knows how the fee system works when they join; in most cases, that's why they join.

Hi Kanti,

I wouldn't worry about that. First, mining on your own is fine too! And gives you the same access to our weekly Jackpot. Once signed up, you can advertise your triplemining address and start growing your own pool. It's just an added benefit :)

I've tried it and
after 3 days on and off mining for 12 -18 hours ( about 40 hours) at a time mining  at 115Mhash it still says Estimated reward: 0.05775999 BTC

Until they fix all the issues with the pool and a way to contact them and such , I say stay a way from it. It's a waste of time and  cost you more  in the long run .

You and I can do better on other pools ...

I'd much rather have my 100%, thank you very much.

I do appreciate the idea, however.

Upon request, I created a Triple Mining IRC channel (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=26957.0).  Come join us for some chat!

Wouldn't a newer pool be less likely to find a block? I understand that it's pretty much luck, but the pool speed has to have a huge play in things. It seems like a pool with 50Gh/s would be mine a block faster than a pool with say 2Gh/s

True; but the pool with 2Gh/s would reward its miners with 25x the payout because there are less miners to divide the 50 BTC between.  Larger pools solve blocks more frequently but divide the block between a great number of people.  Smaller pools solve blocks less frequently but divide the block between smaller numbers of people.

Given enough time, everything averages out, but a smaller pools will have a higher variance than a larger pool (meaning you might make more BTC within a limited amount of time, but you might also make less).

I'm sorry for my last post, i had a bad day ;)

Let my try and explain this:

So, first of all, there is no middle, you only have one parent.

etc...
Thanks, no offense taken. I think I may just switch over to triplemining, people are certainly embracing the idea.  I just have a couple things I wanted to clarify, since I haven't seem to have found a definitive answer.

First, in that example... Nevermind, I saw you've already answered this question in another thread (http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=26550.0).

Also, where is your cut here MrSam? I mean the website is great, professionally designed, probably gets lots of traffic, and you've got no ads.  You're offering features that all the other pools charge for, but you only charge 1% (which can be earned back).  I don't know what the back-end for a mining pool requires, but I imagine you need to run some kind of central server to manage all the nodes, track stats, etc.  On top of all the setup costs there's the labor you're putting in and the risk you're taking by potentially attracting the kind of attention Deepbit and BTC Guild have been getting lately.  How do you plan to sustain it?  I get that your business model may be a kind of trade secret, so it's cool if you don't want to go into it, but that's the last part that seemed fishy to me.

Heh, I guess right now deepbit is kinda like the devil we know, they put their cut right on the front page, anyone can see where the catch is there ;-)

Seems like everything crashes when a new block is found.

Hopefully this hasn't already been asked (I read this entire thread, but I got tired of reading the thread at http://forum.bitcoin.org/index.php?topic=23663)...  What happens in a small pool like this if we find an invalid block?  I was thinking about (and doing a very little bit of) mining with triplemining, but I'd hate to see multiple days worth of estimated income disappear due to an invalid block.  One pool that I looked at stated that all shares would be counted toward the next block if an invalid block was found, which makes sense to me, but would make payouts look bad for the block following the invalid one due to the number ~doubled of shares.  On another pool, an appropriate donation % gets shares for invalid blocks paid, but that pool is so large that an invalid block barely affects me (although I donate anyway and have found that the invalid blocks seem to about equal the donations, which is unfortunate for the pool, but fortunate for me).

EDIT:  I forgot to include this thought in my original post...  I saw discussion about stale and rejected shares on the main thread mentioned above.  I also saw that features were being added based on discussion/requests fairly regularly.  Personally, wherever I mine, I would like to see counters for rejected and invalid shares along with counters for shares found.

I'm not seeing it.  By done do you mean will do, or am I looking in the wrong place?  Also, since my edit took over my original post, what happens if this pool finds a block that is orphaned or invalid?

It's under the workers page.

Also, I was wondering for a long time... what's the difference between a "Stale", "Invalid", and a "Rejected" share? I know what a stale is. What are the other two?

I'm not sure, but I think there could be some terminology overlap or confusion.  I'm not sure if there is a difference between "stale," "invalid," and "rejected" shares, assuming all three even exist.  When I speak of "invalid," "rejected," or "orphaned" blocks, though, I'm talking about groups of shares, I'm saying when a block that a pool spent 5 days finding doesn't get confirmed, but considered whatever it is considered instead, then there is no payout, so our miners wouldn't get paid out for that block unless the pool itself ate the 49-50 (depending on whether or not they also paid the 1% to the jackpot/minipool owners) BTC loss.  Presumably a no fee pool can't possibly afford that kind of risk, so something should be documented regarding what will be done instead, it could help prevent negative word of mouth (or at least allow a defense to it) should TripleMining end up in such a situation early in its development.

So you've talked to support and they've been unable to help?  Here's a clue for support: the communication problems seem to happen at the user level, for instance, I've seen my account have communication problems (and go to 0 h/s upon restarting the client) while the account of the user in my pool continued to function, the user in my pool has seen the same behavior when my account was functioning.  The best part is, due to my job, I also know that there is at least one major ISP on the Internet has been "unilaterally blocking traffic."  This comes from McAffe, but it could explain the issue if it were location -related and not account-related.  It would also explain why I have actually seen fairly regular trouble with at least three different mining pools lately.  DDoS attacks by someone anti-bitcoin would explain the same, though, so who knows.

support really tried but we werent able to find the cause.. other pools are working fine its just triplemining so i dont think its any traffic blocking unless they specifically block triplemining

"Needs 92 confirmations"...   No, nobody can confirm, not until/unless our block is included in (or used by?) 92 more blocks...  I think that implies we already got 28 confirmations, though, which is a pretty good start.

Can I get a more detailed explanation of how the jackpot system works?  For instance, is it once per calendar week or once within 7 days after the previous jackpot falls?  I ask because we just found another block and it didn't fall.  The calendar week isn't over yet, but it has been almost 7 full days since the last jackpot (which was still promotional) fell, and if our luck changed, this block could take 5 days, which would even put us in another a new calendar week.

Dustin, Since the server is in a different time zone, I think we still need several hours before there being MORE than 7 days since last jackpot.  But I feel it's close.

And yes, we just found ANOTHER block only after 15 hrs.  This is getting good!

Title: Re: New Pool: Triplemining.com || 0.5 BTC jackpot every day special ||
Post by: The00Dustin on July 15, 2011, 10:19:16 PM
For the record, I wasn't implying that it has been more than 7 days.  I was implying that if the jackpot is tied to the find of the block and there are no more blocks found within 7 days that the jackpot wouldn't happpen within 7, and might not even happen within the calendar week falling after the last jackpot, this is true regardless of your definition of the calendar week because you never know whether the next block will be found in 25,000 hashes or 5,500,000 hashes, I have seen blocks take over 8,000,000 hashes.  Anyway, I'm not even suggesting there's a problem, I am just curious as to how it works, I mean, perhaps it drops when a random block is confirmed (as opposed to when a random block is found), or perhaps it drops at a random time altogether, but can tell who was mining when the block it randomly chooses to be connected to was found.

Hi all.

Im new to the forum and would just like to say I feel very fortunate to be mining with Triplemining. Ive been mining for around a month now with a different pool and in the last week ive moved to Triplemining and the move has been fantastic for me personally. I dont have huge hashing power yet ive made multiple coins in four days where in my previous pool I would have got this amount in over a week!!

Keep up the good work

I may not be spelling it correctly, but suffice it to say, that we had a period of 5½ days w/o hitting a block. Once we did, the shares weren't worth a lot. But we're making up for those days this week it seems.  Just don't get your hopes up of it being like this all the time.

Well, you could. But since you're new, you should wait a whole month before deciding for sure. :)

I totally agree with you there. I studied the stats and I see where you are coming from so maybe I just hit upon Triplemining at the right time. Lets hope not though. I like the layout of the site and the returns so far have been very good to me for my setup. A lot more than I was previously earning.

Today we have generated another 2 blocks but the current one is taking a while longer but thats the probability factor of bitcoin mining. You can get a quick block or a pig of one that takes for ever.

Just out of interest panda what hardware are you running??

I put my miner together out of old hardware I had laying about the place,

so im running a E7200cpu, foxconn x 48 motherboard with 2gb ram and 1 x 5870 and 2 x 5850's.

Its drawing 740w from the wall so in the uk its costing me like £2 to run and a coin is around the £8.40 mark at the moment so a canny profit.

Hasnt the hashing power of the pool really grown over the last couple of days. Word must be getting around that its a good pool.

Im gutted tho cos my miners all went down grrrr. Had a really bad thunder storm where I live and it knocked out the electric and ive been away for business and when I get back pc is switched off, just my luck.

I see the last block took a while to solve too, but thats bitcoin

Is there a known problem using Ufasoft's 'bitcoin-miner' for CPUs on Triplemining ? (Error 80190193)

I simply can not get it to connect due to an error, yet all my other workers connect fine without a problem.

I have tried different usernames etc with failure, then used those same usernames/worker login details for Video Cards without problems.

I can use the Ufasoft CPU miner on every other Pool I have connected to thus far (5 total) with only Triplemining giving me troubles.

Just to make sure, you use worker+password correctly, create a new worker and use that to connect.

BTW, you can get some fast help from our IRC channel too. Freenode has a #triplemining channel.

I've tried numerous user/pass combinations that all fail on Ufasoft CPU miner, but work on my OpenCL Video Card miners......I have even taken existing WORKING user/pass's to try, but still fail with Ufasoft CPU miner (Error 80190193).

JSON api isn't showing the correct balance:

e.g.
Code:
{"confirmed_reward":"16176106",...}

When the value is really 0.16178106 or is that expected and I should be dividing by 100000000?

internally triplemining works at all places with satoshi's (https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ#What_do_I_call_the_various_denominations_of_Bitcoins.3F), to prevent any bugs to appear due to floating point rounding.  So technically the result of the api is not wrong, it's just in a different format :)

I think there should be an extra chance for long-time miners that are loyal to triplemining - dont know how you decide who gets the jackpot, but it shouldnt be hard to factor in how long the miners has been at the pool

This could potentially discourage new members; it also goes against the original desire to keep it equal (some member wanted it to be weighted based on shares, but the owner(s)/founder(s) wanted everyone to have an equal chance).

That's a bit weak, but they only have a .33% chance of hitting the jackpot (based on ~300 active miners) IF they are mining when the jackpot falls, and at "5 MH/s" on triplemining, they are CPU mining (5 MH/s is the lowest most pools will show because they average on 15 minutes), so that "5 MH/s" will come and go evn further deteriorating that user's chances, because a CPU miner doesn't return shares fast enough to keep the site convinced it is still mining (I've seen two GPUs mining at well over 8MH/s each [so at least 16.5 MH/s total on one worker] show 0 MH/s becaues it took so long to return a share).

So we've been plagued with poolhoppers, that abuse our pool.  The only correct action we can take to these abusers, is to change our payment system, in such a way that it becomes less interesting for poolhoppers (and therefore more interesting for fair miners).  We are going to change our pool to a PPLNS pool.

What does this mean:

We will payout for all last N shares submitted, where N is defined as the current difficulty divided by 2.

In other words, when a block is found, we will look at the last 845450 shares, and we will divide the 50 BTC over the people that submitted those shares.  The number 845450 is half of the current difficulty and will be automatically adjusted if the difficulty rises.

- This is more fair for cpu/low power miners: you will have profit from very fast blocks, even if you could not submit a share for that block.
- This is fair for irregular miners: if you only mine at night, you will ofcourse have less chance on finding a block, and only when your pc is actually mining during the finding of a block will you receive BTC's, but you will earn much  more from a block when it falls, so in the end, statistically, you have more profits then with no poolhopping protection.  Note that your income may fluctuate even more...
- This is fair for normal 24/7 miners, as they will get more, as the poolhoppers cannot run away with any BTC's...
- This is not pleasant for poolhoppers: they will get 0 on long blocks, and a block after a long block will not gain any decent profit anymore.

So when are we going to implement this change?

Soon :)

Personally, I would have voted for SMPPS, but PPLNS probably makes more sense given the jackpot situation.

I am no expert on different reward types but just reading the descriptions, I prefer a SMPPS over a PPLNS.
I am not happy about getting double fracked when my connection was dropped or something else crashed.
My miner switches to another pool, when it can’t connect to my main pool (https://Krokodill.triplemining.com) and I have better thing to do with my time than inspect it all the time.

"I am not happy about getting double fracked when my connection was dropped or something else crashed. "

Let me clarify this. If my connection gets dropped (thanks to my crappy ISP) and I end up mining in another pool for some time and if you have  PPLNS, I am starting to lose my rewards, if it happens at the bad moment.

I'm not sure on the answer to that.  It is interesting, though.  I think this block started during the jackpot day, so GHash/s jumped up to like 133, then slowy trickled down to its 40 GHash/s.  Those still mining are increasing their portion of the total number of shares, but those who left might be getting the benefits pool hoppers get (though presumably those benefits dwindle in a case like this).  However, at the end of the day it's still only 50 BTC to go around to everyone involved in the 120+ hours so far, whereas if three blocks were solved in 24 hours, that would be 150 BTC to go around.  That said, if everyone quit mining, the block would never be solved, so the longer (more shares) you have mined, the more you would have to lose by quitting.  When they go to PPLNS, this all changes, and only those mining within 60 minutes of the solution get anything, which would be hugely beneficial to those solely mining at triple on the rare monster block like this one (unless the timing of a problem screwed them over).

You still get a portion though, no? I've been mining for three days on and off. I've solved nearly 50,000 shares for this block -_-

As long as they don't switch to PPLNS before the round ends, you will get your share.  Once they switch to PPLNS, it will be important that you are mining with them at a consistent rate all of the time in order to insure you get your share, however, those who do that will do better per block than they do now, and pool hoppers will be discouraged from using the pool, making it more stable and supposively more fair.

EDIT:  Presumably you only mine at night.  In that case, your best bet is probably to look for a SMPPS pool.  With those, you get paid a set amount per share.  The pool keeps the excess when a block is found fast and uses it to pay the difference when a block is found slow.  Presumably TripleMining is small enough to consider that (SMPPS) risky for them to implement.

Disclaimer:  Everything following the word "EDIT:" above is based 100% on my personal assumption.

It depends, and I would assume that they will let us know how exactly how they will calculate payouts when they do go to PPLNS (if not before then).  That said, but you need to know how all of your potential pools payout before you leave one to go to another that does the same thing.  ;)

Yes, but not near as many shares.  That block was while Triplemining was fairly new and 50 GHash/s wasn't typical (much less 130 GHash/s for the first several hours).  However, this is in no way Triplemining's fault, it's just luck, I've seen blocks with over 8 million shares and heard of blocks with over 10 million shares.  OTOH, I've seen blocks with less than 25 thousand shares at this difficulty.  It's supposed to all average out on the end, and TripleMining had some fairly good luck not too long ago.

Is anyone having success with this?

Does this payout more than using slush's pool?

Yes, you can mine with just one worker.
It would be better to use 4 separate miners, but either way is fine.

[PS]: I am not responsible for any loss of shares you may encounter due to using one worker.

Dear fellow miners,

Don’t miss out on the great opportunity to participate in our Flash Mob Mining Event and make a little bit of mining history.

The event will take place on Sunday August 21st at 9 PM (GMT).

We know we are a small pool, and we know we have been mining for an uneasy long period of time to find that block, so we understand most of you guys are mining somewhere else.

At the same time we are just like you, passionate mining enthusiasts who believe in the future of bitcoins and mining pools. So it breaks our heart to see our cool little non-profit pool lose its battle against the difficulty.

You, as a member of our group of close to 3000 miners, are able to make the difference. Doing a little bit of math, we figured if we stand together as a group and Flash Mob this block it will drop in no time.

How to participate?

The Flash Mob Mining Event will take place on Sunday August 21st at 9 PM (GMT).

Join us on our irc channel #tripleming on Freenode.

Configure your mining client to eu.triplemining.com on port 8344.

Watch us break all mining records when you and all our other group members Flash Mob that block!

What’s in it for you?

Apart from helping your favorite mining pool crack a hell of a block we will give away a Radion HD 6990 Graphics Card for each 10 blocks found until Midnight (GMT) on Sunday August 21st.

Progress can be followed through Twitter as we tweet each time a block is found. Join us on Twitter @triplemining.

Time zones:

San Francisco (U.S.A. - California)

Thank you for taking the time to read this email and thank you for being part of the triplemining group of miners.

Hi,

I'm not sure if this is the right place to ask but here goes anyway.
I'm a bitcoin mining newbie and just started mining in your pool.
Looking at your stats, it seems as if this pool has not generated any blocks for a while (390 hours/ 16 days).
That's almost double the previous maximum time it took to generate a block.

Am I reading the stats incorrectly?
Is there something to be worried about?

Maybe somebody can point me towards some documentation that will help me understand the process better?

Regards,

No you are absolutely spot on. Its taking ages to find this block. Probability and luck seem to be killing tripplemining at the moment. >:(

I gave a referral URL to a friend and he signed up.  He has not shown up in my minipool yet.  How long until a new member shows up?

Wait, I don't get it.

Could I, for an example, create Triplemining minipool with a computer A, using Miner 1...
And then join beneath it with a computer B, using Miner 2 (GPU1), Miner 3 (GPU2), and Miner 4 (CPU) ?

...And not only chip in and contrinute to the actual mining, but effectively multiply my chances of the lottery winning as well? Or...?

That is considered cheating and we do take action against it, both automated and manually

Try any other pool.
Take a look at eligius.st or bitminter.
Triplemining is not trustworthy at all.
You will see much better results in other pools. See the pool stats thread and compare.
It rather seems that triplemining is keeping a lot of blocks for himself.
If you still use triplemining.com you should change pools asap.

Seems this pool is more like  a scam to me sent support tickets in no answers and also no answers on here. I have over 100GH to throw at a pool and I was going to do continued mining here till given the middle finger after round finished.

Admin care to explain??
