Jaxx or Coinomi for mobile are probably the two most commonly used.

Holding variety of coins together and controlling all of them is not easy but very difficult so best option is to trust mobile wallets jaxx coinomi etc.

You could use a hardware wallet like the Nano Ledger or Trezor to store multiple differnet coins. It is safer but will cost you money (100$)+ They do not support all coins.

Incase you are looking for erc20 based coins then myetherwallet is a good option. However if you are security conscious then the best is to buy a hardware wallet such as trezor or ledger.

If it is for BTC (after i have exchange to Bitcoin)  i will always go for blockchain (blockchain.info) but if is for ERC20 then myetherwallet will be it. These two are my reliable wallets. Always keep your private Key and password safe.

myetherwallet is a good option if you want to store your coins, but you are going to have a trezor or a ledger nano to store them if you want to be safe and if you are very insecure with your funds.
anyway, if you want to have a free wallet without having to pay a pennie, then use electrum, you can store some altcoins in there without the need of having a trezor or a ledger nano.
probably myetherwallet is your best option if you are looking to hold erc20 tokens.

No single wallet covers all the coins unfortunately so need to sue a combination of
wallets mentioned above. Some small positions can be kept on good exchanges too.

The best wallet I heard of to hold your altcoins is Coinomi but they aren't open source so this poses privacy issues with their code. No one knows what they are doing with your private keys. However they have proven to be reliable and no one has never lost any funds so there track record speaks for what they offer. Jaxx is another one but not even comparable as it has proven privacy issues.

Get a hardware wallet like trezor or ledger, plus myetherwallet, you can have all the ERC20 tokens plus some big alt coins supported. Then the rest just open an account in supported exchange like bittrex or binance, hold them there.

I tried Jaxx wallet but i left it for the high fees they deduct each transaction

Which wallets are the best for keeping a wide variety of altcoins?
To keep your ERC20 compliant altcoin and i will suggest you about use the iedoo wallet, because that was friendly users and really smooth for another support to your coin just like bitcoin, dash and another you can try to use jaxx or coinomi. it seems to be a very good choice to combine the eidoo wallet as your erc20 wallet and another mobile wallet. But eidoo will be supported various currency and decentralized exchange site at the end of this year or Q1 2018.

So far the best option to save Bitcoin for long term is using trezor hardware wallet. I heard Jaxx has an exploit which leads to a hacker to hack multiple eth jaxx users.  Search google and news about this.

May be you can use them to trade but not for long term.

I would look at Exodus/Eden for desktop and Jaxx for Mobile.  I've used both and they both pretty good, and keep adding popular coins pretty quickly.

I am using myetherwallet in all my altcoins , because most the altcoins that are being given to user must be ERC20. You just keep your seed phrase or your private key so that you are the one who can open it. And beware for phishing , you must be very careful in clicking , and be very extra careful in reading the spelling of some myetherwallet sites.

I would choose Coinomi as a wallet that has a level of compatibility with many coins that can be used. Security features become very important because coinomi has a security level that I think is pretty good. but back again maybe the existing wallet from the developers of each coin remains the best.

Coinomi would be your best bet. I also used Jaxx but let me down, too slow to load, some significant issue seems unable to solve. Plus, Jaxx no longer supports older android phones while Coinomi still supports it.

I personally use exodus.

recently they have also released the Eden version which essentially has even more ERC20 token support and a whole range of new features. you should check them out if you haven't still, they have lots of positive reviews.

You also control your own private keys with them.

Unfortunately until now i don't find a single wallet that can store all you coins in it. But if you are looking to store your erc 20 token, i suggest buying ledger nano S, it's cheap and your tokens will be safe in it. If you don't want to spend money then you can use myetherwallet but be carefeul because there's so many phising sites.

Yes, coinomi is a good option. For simplicity i actually use coin payments to store my funds, since you are able to automatically forward your coins to an assigned address and transaction fees are subsidized by them currently.

Exodus is another good multi coin wallet, but the amount of coins supported is very low.

It's really preferential more than anything, see which one is your best fit.

both of them arent supports erc20 tokens and some new alltcoins , therefor i can say that myetherwallet is still the best wallet among the  rest because it can simply support all altcoins and tokens or erc20 based tokens that most ico used these days, even if its old or new or not yet listed on the market, myetherwallet can still support it.

Depends on what kind of tokens you are speaking about. If that's ERC20, for example, a lot of people use MyEtherWallet and that's not a bad choice indeed. At least if someone mentions other wallets I'd ask why they are better than MEW first to understand if they are worth it to consider as a substitution, like, at all. It just seems pretty standard nowadays.

For me the best option is myetherwallet and that is what i used right now,. Most of altcoins are compatible in myetherwallet because myetherwallet support all altcoins, tokens or Erc20 tokens, and even the old token, new token or not yet listed on the market, myetherwallet still support it.

Hi.there a many kinds of wallets.online wallets, hardware wallets, paper wallets, mobile wallets etc.Nano ledger and trezor are good hardware wallets.but those wallet's prices high in the marcket.but you can't use one wallet to store all coins.some coins are not supported. For ERC 20 compatible  cons you can use myetherwallet. There are many similar sites like MEW.before access MEW wallet you should chech its URL.It will be a fishing site.you can use youtube to get more details about  MEW wallet.good luck

Get a ledger nano S. It's a hardware wallet and you'll be able to store many coins in it with the highest security you can find in crypto. Just make sure you write down the recovery seed and keep it in a safe and accessible location for future needs.

Not all coins can be store in a single wallet as far as I know but just in case myetherwallet is a reliable web-based wallet for ERC20-based coins. But there is also a similar wallet called MEW. Both are good wallets but be careful in typiing their urls. Not only MEW have a phishing site, also myetherwallet. I have read some cases of hacking because of misspelled urls so be always double check.

Nope, myetherwallet can't be considered as a reliable wallet because that was lack of the security to defend the user's money. just like someone had your private key and he/she was able to steal your amount.
That means the myetherwallet was not secure as the people said.
The mobile wallet seems to be a trend as too many phishing sites just try to copy the myetherwallet. Eidoo with high security seems to be a good choice to store all of your erc20 token and ethereum.

Giving awat private key is stupid idea no matter you use myetherwallet or another one. Myetherwallet only creates ethereum wallet for you and system forget your private keys after user exit from site. Best option is to keep coins on hardware wallets.

To store your crypto currencies safely and securely you need to store it in a hardware wallets like ledger nano S has the capability of storing many crypto currencies in one single store. Coinomi is another wallet which supports bitcoins, altcoins and tokens or in other words coinomi is otherwise known as the multi coin or multi asset wallet which has high security, enhanced privacy and anonymity which means no tracking of transactions by hiding your internet protocol address, this wallet is user friendly and multi lingual.

I am using myetherwallet as well for all of my altcoins.  I believe Trezor also allows you to go through its interface to the myetherwallet website as well althought I have not tested it out yet to confirm.  Another option is to create official wallets for each altcoin that has one and then trade them on myetherdelta or whatever exchange is available that they are listed on. If its still just a token then myetherwallet is the way to go in my opinion.

Which wallets are the best for keeping a wide variety of altcoins?
It totally depends on the wide variety of altcoins you are looking at. Except for exchanges, it would be very hard to see wallets that have huge amount of altcoins. So far so good, most especially for decentralized wallet, you can give Exodus a try.

They have most of the top altcoins with some new ones, and then you have access to the private keys of all the altcoins in your wallet. For online, you can try freewallet, but I cannot say much about them, most especially since I do not really like centralized wallets anyway.

MEW can only work effectively when it comes to tokens and not all altcoins are ERC20 tokens.
With that I would even advise anyone who wants to keep their token secured to even make use of either a cold storage like ledger nano or light desktop wallet like Exodus. I am just never comfortable most times toying with my private keys on MEW which is why most people have fallen a lot for scammers cloned websites.

There are many wallets to keep Altcoin out of which, those wallets are better than regular private and there is good security.
I suggested everyone Myetherwallet, metamask

I'm using myetherwallet.com as my official wallet except when I do conversions and trades in bittrex.com but they're temporary upon transaction between tokens into altcoins. Other than that, I haven't signup any other wallets other than myetherwallet. I have a good experience with using this free and secure wallet.

If you talk about Eth and  Eth based chains,  myetherwallet is the best. It has a good interface and give access to both public and private key so that you can have  a good control over your Eth and tokens. Other than that every altcoin has its own wallet and thats the best to use the wallet of the respective altcoin. I have heard a few services which offer different  coins in same wallet but i still doubt them as i dont think they are reliable.

According their whitepaper they support BTC, LTC, ETH, DASH and wallet MiraBox is offline. But its not only about store crypto, they promise to launch smart contracts mechanism. That's right, apart from that for anywhere accessibility myetherwallet is the best to my knowledge. This has got a unique way of functioning and I request users to be careful while using mobile wallets for easy accessing. While installing itself note how many users were using it. If you find it worth use it, else move on. Because lots of scam wallet applications were getting developed.

In my thoughts, that the best wallet keeping a wide variety of altcoins is my ether wallet, because you can create easily and have a safe private key that cannot be stolen by  hacker.my ether wallet is a user friendly, easily to learn and more convenient to use, especially adding a new kinds of tokens or coins.by using MEW its easy to learn and to know how to used it if you confused, just search in you tube links for the right guidelines.

I use MyEtherWallet as a decktop client and Metamask for comfort working with EtherDelta. And as a mobile client for ERC20 tokens I advice you to use Eidoo, guys. It's easy-to-use, friendly and secure. This is HD wallet and you have your seed (12 words pass phrase) to make it possible to recover your wallet in any mobile device you want.
Eidoo even launched ICO Engine based on this mobile app (wallet) to offer the chance for companies to organize token sales on our mobile app available both on Android and IOS in a safe and easy way. And there are some forthcoming ICOs already which will be carried out using this app, ETHLend for example.

If your altcoin is an ERC20 token, I think using MyEtherWallet wallet is the right choice where MEW is easy  to use but you should be wary of phishing sites. Or you can try the eidoo wallet which I think is more complete than MEW because Eidoo will be supported by various currency exchange and decentralization sites by the end of this year or early 2018.

Lately I also discovered Metamask as a very cool looking, and convenient to use ethereum wallet. It can also hold all ERC20 tokens. What I am wondering about is though: where is the private key in Metamask? Is it always inside my chrome browser? I mean, with MEW you have to put the private key in to unlock the wallet (eighter manually typing it, or json file, or ledger nano s) in combination with your password. But in Metamask I only have to type in the Password and the wallet is open and ready to be used. So Im wondering if its as safe as MEW or not? Maybe someone with better technical knowledge can help me with this.As a sidenote: I have never read that Metamask got hacked or something alike, so it seems pretty safe.

Suppoman is always talking about his #1 coin: Bitquence (or Ethos as it is now called) which is supposed to be this ultimate wallet for ALTs. Do you think the Ethos team will be able to realize this? Please correct em if I am wrong but as I understand it they will then hold the coins for you, that is you will not have the coins stored with you but the coins will be stored by Ethos in "cold storage".  Do you guys see any risk in this or do you believe it is "hackproof"?
Could it be safer to have the coins in such a cold storage instead of on your computer? (Since that is also hackable)

Myetherdetla can shore only your Eth smart contract tokens additionally but it cannot store your other altcoin like Ripple , SC coin, XRB etc. So other than ETH we have to have wallets for each of the altcoins we own. Most people keep these altcoins on exchanges and never get in the trouble of downloading these wallets and storing the coins on desktop. But if you have coins in large quantity i will recommend to use individual wallets for each of them.

myetherwallet is a good option if you want to store your coins, but you are going to have a trezor or a ledger nano to store them if you want to be safe and if you are very insecure with your funds.
anyway, if you want to have a free wallet without having to pay a pennie, then use electrum, you can store some altcoins in there without the need of having a trezor or a ledger nano.
probably myetherwallet is your best option if you are looking to hold erc20 tokens.

Plus it is easy to use with user-friendly environment. I recommend that you should use MEW. Just be aware for giving out you account details. PRIVATE KEY and ADDRESS KEY is different from each other. You should give address key not your PRIVATE KEY. Thats the common mistake that people do. They giving out their PRIVATE KEY instead of ADDRESS KEY. And also be sure about the URL. And be aware of phishing sites. myetherwallet.com is their correct address. Goodluck mate!

myetherwallet is the only one which contains Eth and also smart tokens.  Rest for each coin there is a dedicated wallet for that which you can download from that particular coin site. There are lots of wallets for storing altcoins but I am using myetherwallet to store my ERC20 tokens. It is a good storage for altcoins because it is fast user friendly site which can be used anytime and anywhere just be careful from phishers because it is prone to phishers. Our security is on our own hands so we need to be careful on different sites we are going to enter. We need to keep our private keys in a safe place. Even myetherwallet is prone to phishers I am still using it and will use it because it is a nice wallet for storing my altcoins.

I advise you to go to official website of the coins/tokens you keep. They have probably some advises about wallet.
For ethereum based tokens i use myetherwallet, it is very easy to use.
For waves based tokens i use mobile application of waves wallet. It is also very simple one.

I think that exodus is the best desktop-wallet. And i use Ledger as my ethereum wallet (https://crypto-advizor.com/ethereum-wallet-5-good-solutions/). It's the best hardware wallet on the market i think
100% agreed with both. Exodus works fantastic, it looks nice, it's easy to use and you can store loads of different altcoins in it. It's the only crypto-related software I've never had any issues with. Also desktop wallet is more secure than online wallet.

When I open myetherwallet website I want to vomit.

For more serious investments ledger nano for sure. It supports the most popular alts too and adds the security needed. Doesn't make sense if your whole portfolio is worth 100$ but if it's 1000$ or more I'd buy it.

Jaxx or Coinomi for mobile are probably the two most commonly used.

I tried Jaxx wallet but i left it for the high fees they deduct each transaction
but whether the jaxx wallet can accept any coin because maybe people keep using it when profitable and make it easier

Actually you have to know that if a coin with full blockchain like Neo, Nxt then you have to download their own wallet and store coins there. Only their coins can store in their wallet. With tokens born from Eth, you can use myetherwallet.com to store all that tokens.

Which wallets are the best for keeping a wide variety of altcoins?
I see there is only one single wallet in crypto is a bitcoin wallet but inside it contains some exchange address feature for altcoin and it is the local bitcoin wallet that I use today. but if you ask about an altcoin wallet that I know is MyEtherWallet as the wallet of all altcoins most used by crypto users for now. I think MyEtherWallet is a pretty safe wallet with a pripasi key that we have but right now I have not seen a wallet in the alignment in an altcoin storage for one type of altcoin. so I think for now you can use MyEtherWallet wallet like I did but I highly recommend to you to keep your pepper key from MyEtherWallet purse secretly and just enough you know that there is no theft of assets crypto you have.

A very good option is to choose the one proposed by the developers of the coins.
In my opinion, this is the safest wallet because it is already checked by them.
Unless you are already familiar with different version of wallet.
If you want to buy them in the next days you could keep them in the exchange, if you are a keeper a cold storage is probably the best option.

if you want to save altcoin with the erc20 then mew is the best option for you but if you want to save many altcoins in one wallet then I am suggesting to use coinomi or coinpayment. this both wallets have many lists of altcoin so you can send it to that wallet and you can try to convert the coin if the price increases. in that wallet, you have two option way to sell the coin into bitcoin or exchange to another coin so you only need to sell for getting the other coin.

🔥👛 The TOP 5 BEST ALTCOIN wallets: an overview 👛🔥
Want to invest in more than bitcoin but have no idea how to manage different coins effectively?
I've got you covered!
In this post I'm gonna give you an overview of the BEST altcoin wallets out there. I will be ranking them based on amount of different cryptocurrency supported, ease of use, and security.

Lets go!

5 - Cryptonator

Cryptonator is a web-based multicurrency wallet. It has a built in exchange for BTC, LTC, DOGE, PPC, DASH, XMR, ZEC and BLK. This wallet is easy to use but your private keys are not yours. The company has them for safekeeping, and technically has control over your funds. Cryptonator claims that they store 90% of their crypto in remote servers disconnected from the internet, and they use HTTPS and encrypt critical data with the SHA-256 algorithm. As long as cryptonator stays honest, your coins are safe.
Supported coins (10): BTC, BLK, DASH, DOGE, EM, LTC, PPC, XPM, XMR and ZEC
Wallet type: Web-based
Desktop: Yes
Mobile: Yes
Built in exchange: Yes
Safety: Moderate
Ease of use: Very easy
Open source: no
Website: https://www.cryptonator.com/

4 - Agama

Agama is a desktop multi-currency wallet in early beta, available for Mac, Windows and Linux made by Supernet.org. Agama offers native support for 12 different cryptocurrencies. You own your private keys with this program, but they are stored as a wallet.dat file on your computer and are not encrypted. This means you have to be vigilant while using this wallet, and it's probably the reason why they have this disclaimer on their website: "Agama Wallet is in early development phase, but already publicly available for testing. It is safe to use, but proper backups should be taken. We recommend you not to use it as a primarily wallet for your cryptocurrencies." I'm still listing it though, because even though they are early in development, they already support a good amount of coins, and their program looks really sleek. You can run the program in multiple modes. You can either download the blockchain of every coin that youre using, giving it fast and reliable performance, or you can run it in basilisk mode, where you don't download the blockchain, but the wallet is a bit slower. They have an exchange built in called EasyDEX, which is an exchange that utilises atomic swaps (user to user swaps). For an early beta this looks really promising, so keep an eye out for this one!

Supported coins (12): BTC, BTCD, BTM, CARBON, DGB, DOGE, FRK, GAME, KMD, LTC, UNO, ZEC and ZET.
Wallet type: Cold storage, no encryption
Desktop: Yes
Mobile: No
Built in exchange: Yes
Safety: Moderate
Ease of use: Easy
Open source: no
Website: https://supernet.org/en/products/agama-wallet

3 - Exodus

Exodus is a desktop multi-currency wallet. It supports Mac, Windows and Linux. The wallet is easy to use, you have control over the private keys, and exodus even encrypts them for you. Exodus has the shapeshift.io exchange built into the wallet, so that you can exchange your cryptocurrency with one click. Exodus also removes the need for a portfolio tracker, because they have live charts of your entire wallet. The wallet looks sleek and is really responsive. My only wish would be for them to add more cryptocurrencies, but it doesn't look like that is in their roadmap. On their website they explain that they are only interested in assets that are on shapeshift and are in the top 20 for market cap. This leaves out a very big amount of cryptocurrency with potential.
Supported coins (8): BTC, LTC, DOGE, ETH, DASH, GNT, REP, DCR
Wallet type: Cold storage, encrypted
Desktop: Yes
Mobile: No
Built in exchange: Yes
Safety: Good
Ease of use: Very easy
Open source: no
Website: https://www.exodus.io

2 - Jaxx
Jaxx is a multiplatform multicurrency wallet. The private keys are stored on your device. It has a beautiful UI, is really sleek and easy to use, and has shapeshift built in.  What's great about Jaxx is that it supports every major platform. Desktop clients available for Mac, Windows and Linux. Mobile clients available for iOS and android, and hardware wallet support coming soon. Jaxx is completely open source, so you can check exactly what the application is doing. The jaxx team also is actively adding new coins and one of their missions is to "unite" cryptocurrency and offer a platform that is safe, easy to use and has wide support. It's already very good, but the team seems motivated to make this wallet take my number one spot.

Supported coins (12): BTC, LTC, ETH, DASH (not on iOS), ETC, REP, ZEC (not on iOS), DOGE, ICN, GNT, GNO, DGD
Wallet type: Cold storage, not encrypted
Desktop: Yes
Mobile: Yes
Built in exchange: Yes
Safety: Good
Ease of use: Very easy
Open source: Yes
Website: https://www.jaxx.io

...and the winner is...

1 - Coinomi

Coinomi is the absolute winner of altcoin wallets. Coinomi by far supports the most cryptocurrencies out of any wallet on this list. It has the shapeshift.io exchange built in and just works flawlessly. You get a clear overview of all your balances, and Coinomi combines this balance so you can see exactly how much your crypto is worth. Coinomi is open source, stores your private keys locally and encrypts them. This makes it a really safe wallet. They are big on privacy and their software is built around making sure that nobody can trace your transactions back to you. The only downside: Currently only available on android. They have announced that iOS and desktop clients are coming, though. Once theyre here, the other wallets will have a lot of work to do to catch up to Coinomi.

Supported Coins (64!!): BTC, ABN, AC, AUR, BTA, BELA, XBC, BLK, BRIT, CDN, CCN, CLAM, CLUB, COMP, DASH, DGB, DOGE, DGC, EDR, EFL, EMC2, ETH, ETC, EXP, FTC, GAME, GCR, GRC, NLG, INSN, IOP, JUM, LDCN, LBRY, LTC, MONA, XMY, NMC, NAV, NEOS, NVC, USNBT, NSR, OK, PKB, PPC, PSB, PIVX, POSW, POT, RDD, RICHX, RBY, SDC, SMLY, SLR, STRAT, SYS, UNO, XVG, VRT, VASH, ZEC, XZC
Wallet type: Cold storage, encrypted
Desktop: No - coming soon
Mobile: Yes - android only, iOS soon
Built in exchange: Yes
Safety: Very Good
Ease of use: Very easy
Open source: Yes
Website: https://coinomi.com

I hope you enjoyed this post. If you did, leave an upvote, comment and resteem. I will be forever grateful! I will be posting more guides and other cryptocurrency related content, so if you're interested in that, do yourself a favor and hit that follow button!

See you next time

coinomi is the best and safest wallet for altcoins. myetherwallet is not safe at all because there were many reports that people lost their coins because of myetherwallet. coinomi also supports new altcoins or tokens that is not yet preloaded on its database because coinomi has also an option to add custom token/coins just like on myetherwallet. though coinomi does not expose your private keys publically  because it is only using a password when accesing you own wallet, therfore it it is much safer and not prone to phished attempts.

If you are looking for a wallet to store you altcoins I'd recommend this.
Just as everyone said MyEtherWallet is the best wallet for storing your ERC 20 TOKENS
because your private key is in your hands and it has a smooth transaction.

Second, Cryptonator is also a good web wallet as it can store a huge varieties of Alternative coins. It can also store BTC AND ETH aling with the popular coins today.

Exodus is also a good desktop wallet. Haven't used it for a long time but it smooty for me as of now.

As what they say wallet for altcoins or for ERC20 coins base the best is myetherwallet or (MEW), this wallet the private key is in you're hand download to your using gadget. Easy to use wallet wallet, i also have a depot wallet for those tokens and new coins but i'm not sure with it.
For holding altcoin in long term i suggested you a desktop wallet and ledger nano wallet it used for offline you may download at you're computer.
ALL this wallet will lead hack if you've shared your private key to anyone that close to you, you have the responsibility to keep safe your private key don't lose it.

There are actually lots of wallets where you can store your alternate coins safely. For ERC-20 compliant alternate coins, i can recommend you to try use myetherwallet where you can add custom token of your choice as long as it is an ERC-20 compliant token. You can also try Hard Wallet to store your goodies like the Nano Ledger S hard wallet.

if they use ERC20 I prefer to use imtoken, metamask or myetherwallet because it is very easy to use and many advantages in each - each wallet imtoken example we can always update the incoming coin in imtoken wallet because imtoken already installed in our mobile phone. so no need again to enter in the account of imtoken because it is automatic login.beda case with metamask and myetherwallet if we want to see the balance in myetherwallet and metamask we must always login first to know our balance in the wallet.
but if they do not use erc20 I prefer to wear a wallet Coinomi or Jaxx.

I don't used one wallet for all coin! Best way to hold your coin is hold coin in core wallet!
Carefull before use three party wallet for your coin!

Use myethereumwallet which supports ERC20  tokens and let you keep your private keys.
I use blockchain for my bitcoin wallet. I don’t have any other cryptocurrency, I have only bitcoin and I think that blockchain is good for holding bitcoins. I like blockchain because the security system is very strong and robbing and hacking is not so easy.

If your wallet has been hacked no wallet provider will get it back but we will have to choose the most secure wallet because I is all about the money.

Hardware wallet is the best wallet to can have for known altcoins. Trezor and Ledger is the leading hardware wallet that is availble in the market. If you are short in funds buying this hardware wallet, you may try Jaxx or coinomi.

Myetherwallet is the best way to keep your ERC20 tokens just make sure that the site that you are log in is 100% sure that myetherwallet website. You have to keep you private key secret make sure that no one knows about this because if some one discover your private key they can easily open your wallet.

Get a hardware wallet like trezor or ledger, plus myetherwallet, you can have all the ERC20 tokens plus some big alt coins supported. Then the rest just open an account in supported exchange like bittrex or binance, hold them there.
holding coins in an exchange is really not a good idea. Did you remember MTgox? Btc-e or any other exchange sites which robbed people?
Print a paper wallet and never save the private key in your computer then send all coins to there until you sell.

If you want to keep your altcoins for long term then it is better to keep them in a hardware wallet called Ledger Nano S which supports many altcoins as well as the ERC20 tokens. So you can buy a hardware wallet for your storage purpose.Or for short term purpose you can use a wallet called cryptonator I think which supports most of the popular altcoins.

Its is good wallet for eth and erc20 tokens, for some other altcoins you need to use different wallets. Jaxx is good for some coins, some coins have their own wallet, and that ones are my favorite ones. Now with so many chains and coins you need to know which altcoin or toke n you wish to keep and according to that to choose safe wallet. I have many wallets, its a must in crypto.

I would choose Coinomi as a wallet that has a level of compatibility with many coins that can be used. Security features become very important because coinomi has a security level that I think is pretty good. but back again maybe the existing wallet from the developers of each coin remains the best.

I agree. Coinomi wallet supports work with a large number of cryptocurrencies BTC, DOGE, DASH, LTC, NBT, PPC, DGB, DGC, NEOS, BLK, AUR, NMC, NSR, PKB, BCH and many other altcoins. Coinomi provides a high level of security through two-level authentication and storage of keys on the hard disk in an encrypted form.

As for the choice of wallet, I recommend MyEtherWallet. I use it because it's trustworthy, very practical and it can store all coins that use ERC20 standard. It means the majority of alt coins. However, if you wish to store a specific non-ERC20 coin, you must find yourself another suitable wallet.

Insure you are using the correct URL, and watch for phishing!   :P

I strongly suggest MyEtherWallet for you, since it shows the price of every token (under ERC20) in fiat value(depends on the currency you want). But if you don't want this wallet insure that your wallet does cover the token or coin of yours given by your campaign group.

if they follow the ERC20 standard, they can be added to MyEtherWallet.

Insure you are using the correct URL, and watch for phishing!   :P
right if the coins are supported by erc20 well myetherwallet is the best and most secured, but must sure that its not the hack site because many had been victimized by those damn hackers..i use MEW for long and so far im contented on their service, and about the support its smooth and no hassle

Same here. Majority of my tokens are created based on erc20 protocol, that is why I'm using myetherwallet with nano. I know mew is super safe but eventually it is web based application which means vulnerable to hacker attacks. it is better to combine it with an hardware solution.

Best way to store your crypto currencies is on a hardware wallet.

Trezor supports BTC, BCH, BTG, ZEC, ETC and ETC.

The Ledger Nano S supports a lot of more altcoins. You can also use the Ledger to connect to Etherdelta which I strongly recommend.

This question depends on the kinds of tokens one is trying to keep and their peculiarity. For Erc-20 supported tokens, i think Myetherwallet is the best anyone can get around for know. However, some other wallets are also lining up in the pecking order such as Imtoken, Eidoo; which i cannot actually vouch for their sophisophistications as good and safe wallets for keeping one's hard earned fortunes. Also i have seen and heard people give good testimonies of Nano Ledger; although have not tried out my self, but i think it actually worths giving a trial also. However, to get one is quite exorbitant.

Yesm we can easily lose all of our funds in the absence of security. I also came to the conclusion that it is better to store keys on a third-party hardware wallet. Only I bought myself TREZOR, because it exists on the market for a longer time.

Metamask is the best if you have a lot if erc20 token as it is better than Myetherwallet in term of security in my opinion. There is no universal wallet for all alts at the moment so the official wallet from each coin is the best for storing them. If you have some money then you can buy ledger or trezor for better security and they may add a lot of new coins in the future.

If you are so much worried for the safety of their altcoins, then you direct road to github https://github.com/ethereum/mist/releases/tag/v0.9.3 and download from there a local wallet. We offer You to download Ethereum-wallet, but not Mist, it syncs faster. Install on a separate computer, close all ports on the router, also what kind of purse will go to the network and select the antivirus. Nothing else on this computer is not to install it because all the RAM will consume Your wallet. I observed a consumption of more than 8 GB of RAM. And it is better not to be paranoid and use MEW, but you just keep the key files and private keys.

if you are still in the stage of being an investor you can use myetherwallet wallet to save your coins. but if you already get the coins you have you can save in the wallet offline to make your coins safe.

That is right. Myetherwallet is a good wallet to start. You can use without any hardware wallet till your capital grows to some level. After that you can use mew together with ledger nano x to make it more secure.
I'm thinking about buying Ledger Nano. There are a lot of phishing sites and bugs that can replace the right site with a fake one in your browser. Your private keys on another safe medium are the best solution now.
You do not need any ledgers if you do not open your wallet through your private keys. Use authorization with MetaMask on MEW site and keep your private keys in a cold store

I may have posted here already. not sure but I bought a ledger nano s and have been totally happy with it. easy to use and safe. covers a large variety of coins. only downside is you can only have 5 or 6 coin apps loaded at a time so if you move your coins a lot you have to keep loading and unloading the apps. not a big deal as you can still hold all your coins but it would be better if you could fit more apps on the stick.

There are a few of my favourite multi wallets to store cryptocurrency. Among them, the Jaxx wallet is a cross-platform wallet for cryptocurrencies that can be installed on Linux, Windows and MacOS, as well as on Android. Developers have integrated ShapeShift exchanger into the wallet, so you can change, sell and buy cryptocurrencies directly in your wallet without the need to transfer to the exchange.
And also an EXODUS wallet. It is also cross-platform-just like Jaxx is installed on Windows, Linux and MacOS. He appeared before the Jaxx and was the first integrated service ShapeShift for the exchange of cryptocurrencies in user interface. All your keys are recorded only on your computer and are not stored anywhere else.

It is much easier to create a wallet than in Jaxx, you run the program, and all the wallets are already in it. You can make a backup copy of the wallet only when you transfer the first money there. Then the program will give the phrase to restore. The interface is quite beautiful, you can even say better than Jaxx. On the main page there is a small portfolio in which you can see how the price of your coins has increased. Supported currencies: Bitcoin, Aragon, Augur, Dash, Decred, EOS, Ethereum, Gnosis, Golem, Litecoin.

For me, it's Cryptonator, which is a web-based multicurrency wallet. This wallet is easy to use but your private keys are not yours. The company has them for safekeeping, and technically has control over your funds. So, as long as cryptonator stays honest, your coins are safe.

In my opinion, it's Exodus - a desktop multi-currency wallet. The wallet has the shapeshift.io exchange built into the wallet, so that you can exchange your cryptocurrency with one click. In addition, it removes the need for a portfolio tracker, because they have live charts of your entire wallet. The wallet looks sleek and is really responsive.

I think the best wallet for altcoins is Jaxx. It is a multiplatform multicurrency wallet. The private keys are stored on your device. Jaxx is completely open source, so you can check exactly what the application is doing. The jaxx team also is actively adding new coins and one of their missions is to "unite" cryptocurrency and offer a platform that is safe, easy to use and has wide support.

Use MEW to store all of your altcoins. It is very safe and not very hard to open and under thirty seconds you will have a working wallet and the only thing that you have to do is to make sure that you remember your password and keep it safe and to also make sure that your private key is kept in a very safe place where you are the only one that can get to it and use it to access your wallet

I see that you mention Kraken, Poloniex, and Bitstamp, I don't think that if you have much bitcoin and altcoin, you will save in that site because it is too risky for you if you don't secure your account. it is better to move your coins in the separate wallets like coinomy, Jaxx and coin payments.

The wallet that you will use depends on the kind of altcoin that you are talking about holding, if they are erc20 tokens then a wallet from a website like myetherwallet would be the best way for you to go. I preferred using in exodus wallet in my desktop wallet, and in my android device, I use coinomi. These wallets are safe and secured and was backed by a good security codes and recovery codes, so it can be assured that the coins and tokens stored to these wallets are completely safe. And also these wallets have a feature that it could automatically swap it to other tokens and coins.

Which wallets are the best for keeping a wide variety of altcoins?

Mostly those expert required wallet for the safe keeping of your crypto coins are Nano ledger and trezor edge, because this is the kind of wallet that you can handle  your portfolio securely and can accept also any kinds  or variety of altcoins especially those contains an ERC20,otherwise due to expensive this kind of wallet some beginner like of us using only a MEW wallet even its risk.

In my opinion you should choose the purse MEW, this is where many people choose and the safest place for us to store. I think you should choose them, learn how to use them.

I use mainly MyEtherWallet, you can contain altcoins there too. As long as they are ERC20 compatible. I do not get along very well with its layout though, I would prefer something more user-friendly.

I'm using Coinomi and MyEtherWallet. I think MEW has the edge and I will continue to use this for all altcoins I have. Apart for some non ERC20 coins which I'm using their dedicated (QT) wallets. However, I do prefer to use MEW combined with MetaMask to safely get access. And I don't check the wallet evry day, just exclusvely when I need to make a transaction. For tchecking whether or not any Airdrop coins have been added to my Ether address, I just use the block explorer.

Incase you are looking for erc20 based coins then myetherwallet is a good option. However if you are security conscious then the best is to buy a hardware wallet such as trezor or ledger.
This will be my option as well, Myetherwallet is a good option, but am also open to other options.

Jaxx or Coinomi for mobile are probably the two most commonly used.
I prefer ether wallet because it is very accessible. There are lots of different types of Ethereum wallets. Each one offers different advantages and disadvantages to the user. Some are easier to use but less secure. Meanwhile, others are great for storing money that you don’t want to use for a long time, but aren’t very good for daily use. In this guide, we’ll look at the different types of ETH wallets available: paper wallets, online wallets, software wallets, hardware wallets, and mobile wallets.
Paper wallets : Great for large amounts of Ether. Since it’s so secure, you can feel happy storing large sums on a paper wallet. Test the wallet first by sending a few dollars’ worth of Ether to it. When it’s confirmed, you can send the rest over.
Completely free. An Ethereum paper wallet that is just as secure as any other wallet and can be made at no cost whatsoever
Online wallet: Great for traders. If the online wallet is based at an exchange, all the coins you can buy at the exchange will have their own wallets within one account.
Can sell a position very quickly. This is a good thing if you are wanting to time the market. However, it could also lead to bad decisions and cost you money in badly timed trades
Software wallet: Usually user-friendly designs. Software wallets have been made to give users the easiest way to use the Ethereum blockchain. Sending, receiving, and importing private keys should all be very simple when using any well-known software wallet.
Easy to access Ether and other digital currencies. If you make a lot of purchases from online sellers using your Ether, payments can be sent quickly and simply from a software wallet
Mobile Wallets: Some cryptocurrency users like to keep their Ether on a mobile wallet. This offers an easy way to store it because they can use their Ether when they’re away from their computer. However, mobile wallets have the same risks as software wallets. They are only as secure as the mobile phone itself
Hardware wallet:Offers much better security than an online wallet and a bit better security than a software wallet.Allows funds to be sent to and from the device. Doing this often will reduce its security though.

However I also believe with myetherwallet is the best way to keep your ERC20 tokens just make sure that the site you are entering 100% confident that myetherwallet website. You have to keep your private key secrets ensured that nobody knows about this because if someone finds your private key, they can easily open your wallet.
