What dump are you talking about? Are you talking about the alt/btc ratio or just the value in dollars?


Because  the value in fiat has been rising for almost all the altcoins that are now listed on the market.

And the value in btc ratio has been going down for a while, ethereum was more than 0.12 in July, and now it is just 0.03 each one of them, more than 400% of decrease in just a few months.

But the price is still going up, only that it is not following the bitcoin price pattern.

There is no dump going on. Unless you are referring to some crappy coins, not even worth mentioning. The major ones, the real ones, the solid ones are generally experiencing a value rise accompanying the rise of BTC fiat value.

This is happening all the time when Bitcoin is setting a new all time high, it’s a high risk to trade any altcoin paired with Bitcoin. By this reason I started trading altcoins paired with usd(t) and patience is the key to success.

Expect more dumping in the following days because Bitcoin is sucking most of the volume in the altcoin markets and also there are hardforks to be followed so expect the altcoin market to bleed. I lose huge amount from the dump. My trades failing. That fine with me. Anyway, altcoin are getting more cheaper. So i take it in a positive way. Some altcoins are pumping because of good updates. Like IOTA. Iota is pumping for days now because of huge announcement. But it's now going to a retrace.

Indeed, but that can not be considered as a dump. I would say it's a side effect of the BTC/Altcoin pairing and it is not affecting all altcoins in the same manner.

I would not call this a dump. If you look at the history of coins, you can quickly see that the trend cycles. The cycle simply oscillates between mostly increasing to mostly decreasing. Generally, if you look at all of an exchanges cryptocurrencies and sort them by most profitable to least profitable, you can place a pivot at the 0% mark. This pivot point will cycle from mostly positive to mostly negative ever so often. It's nothing to panic about, but it can be used as a trading tool if you know how to use it.

That is a normal cycle, bitcoin is surging up so the pri e of alts in term of bitcoin is going down but its equivalent is usd is still the same. It will start to grow back once bitcoin settles down again. And if it helps, eth is still growing, so stable coins adopt quickly to the price of bitcoin.

It is because of bitcoin, bitcoin now is unstoppable. Look at the price of bitcoin now, so really hard to stop. But it is okay. Altcoins has the time, maybe next year.

Damn, never expected it to be this bad. I guess DIVERSIFICATION really is an important aspect of any investment. Should have saved more money kept in BTC. Oh well, i'm confident prices will stabilize soon. Bitcoin is really the king.

Overall my blockfolio is up. That's all I look for month over month. These short term rises and drops don't mean a thing. 

why tf dont alts go up if they are all valued in satoshis. I allways hear alts go up cause value of btc goes up, so why and how tf r they goin down  >:(

It's a bloody crazy time to be in alts.

My portfolio is (mistakenly) 100% alts, so I watch my portfolio's sat value go down and down, but the dollar value going slowly up.

The cause can be accompanied by high bitcoin prices. If you want to buy altcoin, you should be able to choose which altcoin you should buy if you can not make the right choice, you will definitely regret it.

This is very much expected due to the upcoming hard forks. People are dumping their altcoins for them to have more Bitcoin before the fork happens so that they can get an equivalent amount of the coin from the fork. Rest assured that the altcoins will be back on its track after the hard fork. It is the best time to buy more altcoins and add them on your portfolio.

This happen because bitcoin jump from 12k$ to 14k$ in few hours. Altcoins not dying, you still have the same usd when you invest in altcoins.

I believe that the falling market is the best time to get started with it. I am in the process of doing the research in alt-coins and I believe systematic investment plan would work best in such conditions because everyone is running behind BTC (including me) and ignoring the market potential of alt-coins. I am expecting a huge growth in the price of Bitcoin in the coming years but we should never underestimate the altcoin market in my opinion.

BTC Dominance was around 53% and now BTC Dominance is over 62% of the total market cap. This is self explanatory that all the money from alt coin is going towards Bitcoin. One of the reason is listing of Bitcoin is opening for future trading on DEC 10 or DEC 11. So the clear picture will be visible after that date as if market funds remain in Bitcoin or people take out their profit from Bitcoin and invest again in alt coins.

How can you say altcoins are dying when see a huge increase in value. The only thing that we can see is the increase in BTC dominance at 63% mainly because bitcoin had this booming increase in value. But this only means that altcoins will follow once the rise o btc ends.

I think It's just dead for a while I guess, I'm still sure after this would be get re pumping on some altcoins especially Ethereum. i agree with you mate bitcoin increasing almost every an hour the reason altcoin can't grow up but not totally dump, i hold my altcoin i have today because i believe someday if the bitcoin price stay in the price value in the market price i think the alts goes pumping.

Remember that a sharp increase in Bitcoin like we have been seeing could also be an indication that exponentially more people are getting into Bitcoin. Since Bitcoin is the largest household name, people will buy Bitcoin first thinking it is the only cryptocurrency out there. Then, as the new users begin to discover altcoins, the market will spread out again. I think it's just a sign of larger market adoption, which is a good thing.

Unless you are a savvy day trader, or make good choices in long term altcoins, from now on I feel that it will only get worse and worse for many of us holding altcoins. I have seen my portfolio shrink by 98% over the last few months but am still holding for dear life, hoping and praying some of my bags will grow as fast or faster than Bitcoin so I can get the multipliers. At the end of the day, all the day traders are cashing out in Bitcoin and Fiat and couldn't really care less about altcoins. Altcoins to them are just for making the multipliers, nothing more than that.

Profit/loss in altcoins are closely tied to bitcoin. Most exchanges offer BTC trading pairs, this means you can trade Bitcoins for altcoins instead of altcoins directly for fiat or tether.  When there is a sharp rise in bitcoin, traders tend to increase their bitcoin capital by selling of their altcoins thereby causing a dip. The problem is the altcoins tend to over exaggerate these dips and take a while to even recover. That is why the market always seem very bloody.

Oh dear! They are indeed dying, Bitcoin is deeply sucking the life out of them.
I think the cause of this is because investors and traders neglect altcoins and pay more attention to Bitcoin. The very minutes we start looking more into altcoins, then it will start giving us the pay off of our investment.
Also on the other hand, some altcoins are sort of growing though, its just a matter of been patient.
This result should be a good reason why one should research before choosing any coins because some of their developer stop updating or improving them after their ICOs.

I guess what we can do is either hold or sell and go shift to bitcoin for now. Take a small lost today and regain that lost in the bitcoin market. However, the price is too high at least at this time. I'll have to rethink another move to at least negate this lost that I'm seeing in my portfolio.

Well, bitcoin price can't be long term. Let's just wait and see how things goes, bitcoin future contracts offering are what drives this madness on it but I sure that it will subsides and then altcoin will rise again.

the altcoins are still getting pumped and dumped. I'd say they are still pretty alive and even kicking at the moment. you just forgot that there is also a second step called "dumping" to each "pump" that altcoins have. and now you are surprised by seeing it. this is a good reminder though. may we all remember it pretty good.


it will dump for now but the dump also means these markets are being corrected and are getting out of their bubbles. it is a good idea to sell now and wait for a new dawn in altcoin market. get ready with as much money as you can for the next series of pumps that will follow right after the dumping days were over.

Yes, I think the same with you but disagree. I am thinking of buying a coin ALT now because it is down drastically. Of course the cause is Bitcoin who keeps going crazy. But it's not wise if you buy now because Bitcoin still keep pressing the coin ALT and you better wait until the turn of the year to see what happens.

I think this is a good time to buy those alt coins. When all the alts going red and bitcoin going green, it's the signal to buy some alts.

For now it is necessary to take advantage of the rise of bitcoin and expect it to reach its limit and then start making investments in ALT that apparently continue to decline and others have remained stable, many ALTs come with updates for next year so it would be a good long-term investment.

They aren’t dying. The top altcoins have done extremely well this year. They are a little down this week but still very high priced. I think part of the reason why they are slightly down is that it is a small correction. Another potential reason is that money is being taken out of altcoins to go into Bitcoin right now and in Iota a few days ago. This coins have been pumped up a lot this week and Monero as well.

i don't agree with the idea of mate that now to do investment in bitcoin only but we need to investment our money in some various places like bitcoin and some altcoins also because some altcoin are very good and have giving better result like etheruem and all altcoin are not dying but some altcoins are going dying while some altcoins have good life like ethereum.

Yeah,the price of all altcoins are dumped due to the bitcoin price bump but I think it will reverse after the bitcoin fork,every altcoin holder converting their coins to bitcoin to earn that free coin,but the conditions become normal in few days so don't panic and sell your price for cheap price.

When the spotlight is on bitcoin, majority of all the altcoins starts to bleed. And I think this will continue until the end of this year. It's sad to see this but on the bright side, this is the perfect chance to buy potential and promising altcoins. You can take advantage of this and buy what you think will be the profitable ones. Then just wait for the correction on bitcoin's price. Bitcoin's price will definitely fall. Have seen this many times. When the correction comes, all of the altcoins will start recovering back. This all boils down to risk assessment and management. The general decrease in many altcoins is due to the fact that people are dumping them to buy BTC in order to have some additional forked coins when that time comes.

I see this king of post any time this happens in the market: bitcoin up/altcoins down. This is not the first time this happens. It`s a normal thing and newbies panic sell and then complain about how crypto is not making them rich over night.

The reason behind this dump is rapidly growing price of Bitcoin, every time bitcoin sets new benchmarks altcoins have to face some serious dips because investors eye is set over bitcoin right now. Although altcoins are too risky but yes i think it is the best time to buy altcoins because most probably in 2018 the alts will rise again.

Some altcoins price now are getting bigger and bigger, so I don't think that this time altcoins are dying. Hence, all crypto currency now in the market are seems healthy and continue fluctuates. Also in my speculation some alternative coins price was depending to the movement of bitcoin in the digital world.

Altcoins are facing serious problems due to the sudden rise of bitcoins value and it keeps pumping. Many transactions are affected due to this cryptokitty  I don't know why until now the problem still not being solved. All we really have to do right at this moment is to wait and let them troubleshoot the existing technical issue.

Given the fact that bitcoin is rising very quick, I'm sure that there are investors who doesn't want to miss and immediately jump on the bitcoin and most probably have dump their altcoins in favor of the most lucrative coin that is - Bitcoin. This is a natural reaction, when one asset that trades in relation to the second starts to fall in price when the price of the second increases. Of course, after the stabilization of Bitcoin's price, the altcoins will begin to recover. But you need to consider that 90% or more of the coins in the future will disappear.

Last time, this scenario occurred was not long time ago when Bitcoin gold pumped the Bitcoin price to high extent and it is happening again when Bitcoin price is sky rocketing once again making alt coins bleed brutally. It's a big world.  My gut tells me that there are too many alt coins/currencies to be sustainable in the long run, and people are making more every day.  I am skeptical.  I think there is room for a few that will get global mindshare.  Others will be limited in market scope.  But the big ones like BTC and ETH and their first derivatives will sway the markets for the others for a long time.  I have a background in Econ, but still feel I am only scratching the surface with my understanding of Crypto.  What an exciting time to observe and look for opportunities.

Altcoins are not dying at all! However, there is too much correlation with the former bitcoin and they difficultly will decouple this bond.
Nevertheless, if you look at the dollar/robust coin pairs, you will see a steady increase in price (ETH, LTC and dash for example), which translate in stron community support. Moreover, those altcoins are quite useful indeed for the overall environment.

I dont see this as a pump, I see it rather as a massive run on Bitcoin that happened so fast that the demand way outweighed the supply and therefore price soared up. Nah, they are not. Just Bitcoin is rising and people see more potential in Bitcoin at the moment so they are moving their money.

The value of the altcoins has gone down and the same doesn't mean that they are dying. As each and every altcoin has got the dependence on bitcoin in terms of trading as well upon the market capital generation the growth has come down. At the same time period more altcoins have been growing high in value. Soon can expect mutual growth.

It is just a market's correction, you dont need to be too nervous. Before each hard fork, altcoin price will goes down, and that is the good time to buy potential altcoins.

it was the best time to buy you favorite alcoins cheap and maintain your portfolio. you have  seen it as death of altcoin but it was an opportunity to buy more at cheap. now market has recovered and the people who bought alts cheap now can get some profits.

True,  it is too exaggerated to exclaim that altcoins are dying just because the prices are going down. You must know that when it comes to crypto this is just normal and there is no need to panic. The prices are not stable and that there are times that it is high/low.  Search about the volatility of the coins to understand what we are all trying to say. Thinking about altcoins dying because of dumps or crashes was very naive. The OP should read more.

The BTC/altcoin correlation is misleading and cannot be used as a measure of value by itself. One should also pay attention to the fiat/altcoin evolution because that is also very important and the communities supporting the altcoins pay close attention to both factors.

Many altcoins are being dumped because a significant portion of of those holding them were just waiting for a chance to make a quick buck and are not true supporters of the coin.

A strong community won't dump a coin only because BTC is skyrocketing. And when we talk about modern implementations, with PoS 3, masternodes and a strong dev team, the coin will thrive while others are just dumped.

Like you, I also noticed about altcoin value for being in a massive dump which maybe just a challenge for altcoins because obviously like the other coins they suffered and experienced a massive dump until it become successful and reach the continuously increasing of value. We must know that it's all part of cryptocurrencies .

i don't see altcoins dying, if you have been trading recently, you'll see that most of of the gain are in bitcoin and no doubt about it, bitcoin had reached 17k usd in no time, but the correction is now on going, and the value of bitcoin had dropped, and it seems that, the money is on altcoins right now, here in the eastern side of the market, the value of altcoins had increased during day time and i think this is because of the value of bitcoin dropping, and more and more people seems to be very active as of yesterday in trading, probably to gain more profit, making altcoins still alive in the market, we should just not panic, seeing a bloody red red market, it will go up in time.

I never believed that altcoins are in dying stage, because first of all crypto currency now are starting to become famous in many country. So I'm sure that altcoins have a huge chance to increase their value on the following weeks or months, all we need to do for now is to be patience waiting for the right time.

I have been following some altcoin's pricing for quite some time now and one thing that I have find out is that some of them do fall when bitcoin is falling and fall when bitcoin is getting pumping! People and investors prefer keeping their money in bitcoin as nor of the alternative coin has outperform bitcoin. i wont think altcoins are dying now, it just the demand for bitcoin is too big due to its high rising recently that making  the imbalance between bitcoin and altcoins demands more and more, but surely in not very far from now, altcoins will be back because we all need altcoins to make profit.

Not all altcoins are great but it doesn't mean all altcoin will die, its cryptocurrency and I believe that this is really our future. Altcoins will pump higher in next year so better to hold some to enjoy some big profit.

Im waiting for red days in the market, so this is good chance to buy some more. The next hardforks are coming soon and many traders will buy bitcoin to get fork for free. So, alts will go down again, but i dont see in this sutuation something new and scary. The market will return to normal condution after some time.

Altcoins prices dropping doesn't means that they are dying this happens all the time there are ups and downs as crypto currency are volatile and unstable.Instead see this as an opportunity to buy altcoins in more cheaper rates as definitely good altcoins will rise again and you will earn good profits.Just don't panic sell when prices drop as fluctuations are quite common in crypto market so don't just think that drop means the coin is dying.

I guess that bitcoins price is affecting price of altcoins. Probably there is dump because more and more people are transferring to bitcoin, because of its sudden rise. Probably they are convinced that its good idea to transfer. But to be honest I think that would be bad idea, because price of bitcoin will fall, and that will happen soon. So now is good time to buy Altcoins, because when price of bitcoin starts to fall, people will come back to altcoins.

LOL. You're wrong buddy. Take a look at the price of all altcoin at the moment you'll see :)). Especially take a look at price of ETH and LTC, they are increasing very quickly. There are so many altcoins so when you see 5 - 6 altcoins become trash, it's not mean altcoin is dying. LOL. Just because the price of Bitcoin increased so fast, it made the pairing BTC/ALT decreased as well.

Bitcoin is going up therefore we cannot see a stable growth of altcoins, there are some who pump when they have a good news release but most of altcoins are still sleeping, don't worry they have their time and it's even good now because the value of bitcoin has increased significantly which means the moment altcoins will pump, we can see much value of our coins, no panic time for me, instead, I learn how to shop cheap alts.

Altcoins and btc made this scenario many times. When btc increases the alts decrease and when btc become more stable every other alt try to reach it and get a huge dump.

The price of altcoins are are not following the price of bitcoin, because the heavy holders of these altcoins wants to get more of bitcoin and sell them for bitcoin, but one thing is certain, their price will rise again. Look at ETH today there is a big difference between it's price in the last 2-4 months back, which means it has something good to offer in the next 2-4 months from now.

For me it is not true that altcoins are dying because eventhough altcoins are not very popular in this world, many altcoins are also rising and increasing its price and just like ethereum the best altcoins, and ethereum is increasing its price and i think in the future many people will also be rich by supporting altcoins.

i dont think alts are dying because  i see that most of them are still increasing and some are stable. decrease for altcoins are pretty normal but they may still recover just like on bitcoins. i guess this is just a small correction and not a manipulation though some factors may also cause for alts to decrease like for example some altcoins enthusiast and trader are now selling some of their coins just to invest on bitcoins due to the fact that bitcoin is still pumping rapidly and expected to increase even more just before the end of the year 2017.

There are altcoins out there who will surely die especially when they lose volume because people are investing with bitcoin as the price is increasing. Choose wisely, and if you believe on the coins you buy, you must have the patience and hold it longer because when investors notice that the project is progressing, we can surely see some price pump and that will make us happy, it's all about patience in the crypto world.

You must understand that the 24 hour % change of the coin is not reflective of a pump or dump, you should rather look at the monthly average. If a coin moons 50% one day.. and then falls 10% the next.. that's a 40% moon over 2 days, not a dump.

Look at most of the altcoins today and wish that you didn't open this thread and make you look like dump in the crypto world. It always like this if you are still not aware of. Sometimes people cash out and move funds to other investments that why it will go red. But then after a week, with Bitcoin price skyrocketing and trickling to the altcoins markets, almost all of the top altcoins are getting all-time-high and even surpasses bitcoin jump in price. Plus a lot of news have been going around the altcoins like UBS reports, ETH future contracts. So I imagine altcoins mooning in the beginning of next year. And NO, they wouldn't die, but rather stay here for good as long as there are interested investors willing to rain them with cold cash.

I don't think so. The thing is the altcoin also have the same quality as bitcoin which is volatility. Due to altcoin's volatility there is a high possibility that in time it's value will still increase. We should all keep in mind the almost all online currencies are volatile which means we cannot just assume that it's value is low forever.

Apparently not! It is not really a new thing. The alt markets are known to always follow some particular trend based on the trend going on with BTC. For example now, BTC is stabilizing after the long bull run and Alts are always meant to be in good shape with different set of activities going on for them. Once we see some crazy moves again, they are always bound to happen.

Always a good time when red, but it is best to take one's time than rushing to buy them. Some of them usually have some free falls eventually and buying when you think the dips have finished may make you to wait a whole long time before you start seeing profit. However, those are always the moment to buy some good alts as they will always get pumped back anyway.

Coinmarketcap graph is really a big help for me in trying to analyze if the price increase is legit or not. As first glance you will have a snapshot of where the price is heading. Then I search around to see what causing this pump and make up my mind to buy or to sell.

Many of them are moving up slowly these days. Maybe after a bitcoin price correction people will buy more altcoins and prices pumps.

Recent days have shown a better sign for the whole crypto market as the altcoin after a deep fall has rebounded. Bitcoin price increases caused the capital from altcoin to be withdrawn and poured into the bitcoin shield for the strong discount altcoin. Altcoin has the potential and the large community is back when the community favors adapting to this market.

Altcoins will never go way, the good ones will fill the gaps BTC due to the tech limitations will never fill. Altcoins fluctuate a lot but that a an intrinsic property of every crypto asset.

Don't be alarmed, not all altcoins are dying, maybe it's just because of bitcoin's price hike. I do have altcoins and I'm really holding it until it pumps next year. I'm really looking forward for next year, maybe a lot of coins with good projects this year will have its high value, so I'm really keeping it so I can trade it by next year.

Everything works in cycles, Alts are down one week, the next week they're up.  That's how traders are making a lot of money in this space, as long as you don't freak out and sell when everything goes down when Bitcoin Rallies, it will be back up again.  Granted recently alt coins have had a bad time of it, but hopefully as of the past few days; we'ew witnesses the return off the alts!

This is logical because they can't be on rising all the time. They undergo down trends and then they start positive growing trends once the negative trend ends. We should make money of it actually.

Aside from that bitcoin had been increasing, definitely these altcoin looks like they are going down in BTC value but if you look at then at Dollar value, they are still the same.  So there is nothing to worry if we see altcoins in red when bitcoin is  uptrending.  Worry if Bitcoin is taking dip and altcoin is still in red.. this means they are really dropping in dollar value.

I guess more users have lack of information that's why they can says that altcoins are dying, maybe some coin in cryptocurrencies community was lower price but it is not enough basis. That's a sure thing tho. I just don't get it why there are people here that been trading or investing here for years but still not to used to all of this volatility and don't see the beauty of red days. Most of the people I know are buying altcoins because they're "cheap." They buy it at a high and sell it at a low. I'm just getting bitcoin, no alts for me.

To some extent, I agree with buying and holding bitcoins for value. However, you should be able to profit from these moments when the price of bitcoins decreases in favour of altcoins. They are not cheap fiatwise, cheap with respect to btc. Hence good for a short term investment.

Recent fall of Bitcoin made altcoin plunge up quickly and in a good amount for few. Few altcoins even if Bitcoin was going up, the vaue of those alts were also increasing so I believe not all alts are good to avoid. Moreover, cryptocurrency used as a currency is still few peoples first choice rather than investing, so people like them are buying and using altcoins which are fast enough for confirmation and quite cheap if considered to fiat.

Maybe they buy a high price and sell at a low price for fear of the coin the price will be more down. ;)

Well I started with no alts as well. But later I realized that alt coins is also a good investment, but for short term only. And I was lucky enough to gain an profit from my altcoin trading. I think you should try your hand as well and get alts.


That's is what I'm saving. Altcoins are good for short term investment. And if you got "lucky" you will hit the jackpot for some shitcoins. specially if they are pump and you are already a prior investor. You can wait for the pump and get out and make an exit when your position is already giving you profits.

I would say it would totally depending on the coins you do hold.If you do see that it would have the potential to bounceback into the future then buyback would really be a good way to accumulate even more cheap coins but not always the case because not all coins will easily got recovered. They might possible to recover but would take time or not at all.This is always been part of the risk.

It is okay to invest for as long as you know what coins you are going to invest at, maker sure that you have searched with it that it has proof enough. Altcoins are not really dying especially those in top 10 coins, and for assurance purposes invest with the top 10. But as per me bitcoin and Eth, those coins I will devote my saving just to invest to them.

Diversify, you will hear that a lot. It means that we should not only invest in bitcoin as to altcoin as well. But the difficult part is what altcoins to invest with. We all know for a fact that almost all of them are for pump-and-dump. So to be safe, I advise that you choose the top 1-5 coins. Ethereum and Litecoin have seen better days. But I think that there are still some leg room for this coins to really go up in the future. But for some shitcoins, I don't know because I don't like investing in them. You can hold on them as long as 3 months with no movement at all, that's why I avoided them like a plague. I'm glad that you like Ethereum, but don't invest your life savings though. The market is really unpredictable, just invest what you can afford to lose and you will be good.

There are a lot of people who does that, just do a background check with the coins that is beating the top list and never been heard before investing on it. But with the speculation that altcoins are dying was not true, in fact they are rising nowadays since bitcoin price was dumping.

Yes.I don't think bitcoin is dying.Because the price of litecoin is raised the maximum,many  long term holders are gained.Not only the price of altcoin also the price of Ethereum,Bitcoin cash is raised .So I won't accept the thing is altcoin is dying.As compare to Bitcoin,altcoin gives you more return.But you have to wait for that.

Some coins are coming and really exploding. It's really funny that a few weeks ago I bought a tiny bag of cardano, like 0.007 Bitcoin worth and that bag has gone up x 5 already. I am thinking wow what if I had bought like ten times as much but I had very little spare change at the time. Another one that has made 800% gains since I bought it and I only bought 80 of it is SALT. That's another one that has skyrocketed. As long as we need this blockchain technology, alts will not die. Look at the internet, 30 years on and we use it more than ever now!  :D

I agree. Right now, many altcoin developers are pumping the value of their coins and increasing the available market cap. That is actually helping their coins recuperate from the recent negative effects brought about bitcoin's price surge last few months. Altcoins is really good, and i dont think that altcoins are dying because there are still many altcoins tha is really great on the market and for me altcoins is will bloom or will be more popular in this year 2018. And i know that altcoin can really help me to earn a lot of profit this year.

This is not true. It's only a temporary trend. When the money turns back to bitcoin, those altcoin pumpers will cry hard because whales type traders are doing this kinda move on the prices.

Dump is an interesting term.  I like the term correction myself.  Much of crypto value is based on expectations, and sometimes expectations outpace real growth.  Real growth needs needs real measurable output of some kind. Something that may be hard to define in some crypto currencies or even tokens.  This will be a challenge as the crypto space matures. 

One factor that cause the decrease on the price of altcoins is bitcoin's price on the market. Do remember that altcoins are alternate coins which have a similar structure to bitcoin. Since bitcoin has been showing a constant decrease on its price over the past few weeks, altcoins on the other hand have this direct proportional relationship in terms of its price. Not to mention, country prohibitions and government interventions play a factor on its price too.

Not realy a massive dump because there are some good altcoins the pump too, i mean not all of them are dump. I think this is just normal in crypto trading bacause if bitcoins fall usualy almost all altcoins fall too.

I am trusting altcoins and for me altcoins are not dying, even there are some altcoins that has no future but i still believe that there still so many altcoins that can survive in this world and i know altoins can be a big help for us.

well history always repeat itself, once a massive dump like this happen there's a huge pump incoming so just like now that almost all of the coins are far from its all time highs it's a good habit to collect and buy what you can afford until the train starts to run again :)

Altcoins are not dying, maybe some of it is getting down but it doesn't mean that other altcoins will follow; hence, there are still  an altcoins who keep rising when it comes to price and popularity.

I also believe that altcoins are not dying, i am a holder of some altcoins, like ethereum, waves and neo and this, 3 coins i have is not dying and i am sure that many altcoins in the market will not die, even not all the altcoins have a future but it i will still exist in this world for long time.

Obviously those are high value altcoins, so it will not die that easy because of the support of the community. Most likely those shitcoins who are just created for the sake of pump-and-dump and then no support from the dev behind will simply disappear in the next 1-3 years. Just look at how many coins those top exchanges de-listed and you will see how many have already died.

No its not, it is just normal for  atlcoins to drop down. Wilk just  be patient and wait for it to recover. Besides after it recovers net in line is to drop again. Its a trend.

There's no legit coin that will not be alive except those that are build by scam many AltCoins will challenge Bitcoin and Eth in the nearest future so don't think looking down on any Coin now is good because the bitcoin, Eth, Ripple etc all started the same way others are now.

Yes bitcoin is very famous now a day and not only stopped at the specific point but it is rising more and more in price and popularity as now a lot of people are able to work for bitcoin because developing technologies is a sign that coming future is of digital currency era we are going to see bitcoin and altcoins higher than this they will never stop or drop forever, fall and rise happens its natural phenomena of crypto currency, as recently price of bitcoin was dropped down but high trading and investing made it pump once again and market  is speedily turning green.

There is nothing that looks like death for altcoin. Many altcoin keep developing and keep been suppoeted by large community in cryptocurrency. For instance zcash has been around for some time and its  price keep rising because the coin is developing.

Most of alts just follow current  trend of BTC/ETH. But not in all cases. Cryptomarket cut only to Bitcoin is limited and boring. There is no quality without competition

I know many of them are decreasing in value, which is surely a nail-biter for many people in the market, especially those who hold them or for those that are more focused in that department of this market. It's not very easy to actually just kill off altcoins because there is just so many of them in the market, and agree or not, it still does a lot changes, and it affects the market significantly. Even though many of them just die out, many are still steadily gaining value, however slow that may be, just like Ethereum.

Agreed, they aren't dying, they just have a lower market cap so their volatility is extremely obvious. Your investments maybe dying because you chose the wrong coin (probably a scam coin or a shitcoin ) that seems to be decreasing and no hopes for recovery. I guess your only best bet is to sell them all in order to cut your losses and also to avoid a possible bankruptcy at the end.

Altcoins price start to return like what happen in December, but i find on many altcoins charts some thing really good. Most of altcoins are on strong support and no crash till now, the market cap go low just because of bitcoin price. So i think the best option now is buy more altcoins and hold.

It is really heartening to see all the altcoins going down. Look things with a view of 50-100 years from now. In 50 years, Software would be far more advanced. Bitcoin would still be there as the same software as it is today without anyone controlling or guiding it. Bitcoin's success has nothing to do with its software quality or features. Still large amount of media thinks bitcoin to be software and compare the crypto space to dotcom era as if some better software and better transaction time would come overtake Bitcoin.
