It can. I was thinking about Bitcoin's overpricing a month ago. So, I was right. Price is going back to it's real amount which is about $5-7K.

why? bitcoin is going down because they hit the 19,666$ and the price of it are jumped nearly 13 times according to my research, so that's why the price of bitcoin fell over 36 percent and losing more than one-third of it's price.

So far bitcoin price is affected by the supply and demand of bitcoin in the market, with bitcoin reductions certainly due to the current increase in supply in market causing the decline in bitcoin prices but i think this is quite relevant because the current situation requires more budget ahead of preparation of big day and turn of the year. So many bitcoin users are selling it for preparations ahead of Christmas and New Year celebrations

The Segwit2X hardfork will be held on December 28, all about the new Bitcoin fork. So servers are busy in current market. It is affect the Bitcoin value. In current situation all the miners are jump to altcoins only few of them are available in mining so transaction fees also increasing in crypto market. This is not a issue after hard fork it will automatically changed. Bitcoin value is raise gradually in crypto market.

Why bitcoin start going down and down will it goes below 10000$?
Simply because the transactions are high at this moment. People are selling Bitcoin not because they are no more interested but rather they are in need of money because of the season. So eventually, its market value is expected to be more expensive. All we have to do s to hold and patiently wait.

I believe the segwit2x might also play a part on the drastic fall of bitcoins but altcoins are also dipping and bleeding seriously.According to coinmarketcap about 90% of altcoins are all in red and major decline in the entire market cap

After reaching a record high of $ 20,000 earlier this week, Bitcoin has fallen 15% today and dropped to the lowest level of more than 20%. This can be considered as a strong fluctuation in the value of Bitcoin. I think that the main problem lies in the growing demand for this currency, while the limited supply has led many unprofessional investors to invest in Bitcoin, Probably a large number of Bitcoins are reserve. But do not worry, wait, I think Bitcoin will soon recover and grow back

My personal thoughts:
* Bitcoin initially went down due to pumping other alt-coins especially BCC (according to coinmarketcap with BTC dominance going down)
* Now (as of these past 2 days) people are panic selling due to them just seeing Bitcoin go down and not realizing it was just going into other cryptocurrencies
* Honestly, I don't know how far the drop could be, but it'll be pretty bad, BTC dominance is going up which is a sign people are cashing out for fiat currencies and not other crypto-coins

again- just my personal opinion based on speculation.

It will go below $1k, it may very well go back to $100, or ever $1, think about this, what is it worth?

Absolutely nothing, other than the 100,000 scammers who pump&dump the bitch on this forum, once they move on to the next big-shit, BTC will be forgotten, and go back to natural organic growth.

Much of the gain this year and last and go away in just a few days

The problem is that there are 2,000 shit-coins that are all 100% bTC clones, and some are better, that is a big problem for the CORE, who are fat, dumb, and dumber

I think the past issues with the BTC platform that was left unresolved because it was covered by its popularity of the cryptocurrency  had caught-up with bitcoin.

According to Fortune,  the drop is a result of the fallout from long-unresolved problems with Bitcoin’s infrastructure,
and the increasingly intense civil war it has produced in the cryptocurrency community.

I think why bitcoin is down, and bitcoin is strongly influenced by supply in the bursa, so there is a reduction of bitcoin and there is definitely an increase in the market

U R right, but its USA centric thought, most players have already exited the US dollar, which is worth LESS than BTC,

Crypto filled a void for hot-money to flow out of USA while the US-dollar still had value, now neither USD nor BTC will have value in the coming days, the ticked is to KNOW what has value, ... all ELSE is bullshit.

Recall that 99% of these crypto's are just copied software that morons cut&pasted, and even bigger idiots bought.

Why bitcoin start going down and down will it goes below 10000$?

I think its because today is end of the year going to christmas season and new year i think that was the reason why bitcoin was dump but after this bitcoin will go back to normal again.

I thought it would keep going up until after Christmas and then it would drop because people who received it as a gift on Christmas would sell it.

Although with the current fees situation that we have, it is unlikely that anyone will be able to sell their Bitcoin anyways. Think about how high the fees are and people will need to send Bitcoin 2 times to sell them which means most of your BTC will get eaten by fees alone...

It is sad, but the reality of Bitcoin at the moment.

There is one reason Bitcoin is going down, and one reason only: FEES

People simply don't like paying such high fees. The problem is looking too far ahead. We don't need to increase fees right now. Miners don't need to live off of fees only at this point. The last Bitcoin won't be mined until ~2140 therefore we have ample time to discover a solution. In the meanwhile miners whould live mostly from the block reward alone.

There are lots of reasons I can think of for the current Bitcoin price drop. One is reason is because of the peice correction. Many people got hyoe because of Bitcoin and they are now selling it. Another reason is because of the slow transactions and high transaction fees. Investors are shifting from Bitcoin to other coin because of this. Whatever the reasons, I believe that Bitcoin will recover from this.

From my experience in the bitcoin from two to three years the price of bitcoin will not go down in the future but the price of bitcoin will fluctuate up and down in the future . But the price of bitcoin will not go down because now a days the demand of bitcoin will increases reguraly in the future so that the price of bitcoin will also increases in the future and it may always in increase in the future . But there are also a less chance of price of bitcoin will decrease but the price of bitcoin will increase is less than the price of bitcoin decrease.

I think it will not go down below 10k mark, it is very critical. The reason behind the dropping of price is the investor cashing out revenue from their possession.  We all know that during this holiday season there are much more day spending money than generating money. This season, people are cashing out money to spend for their self, love ones and family.

Bitcoin was way below than the current price and some people started buying at that level and most of them were institutional investors which boosted the price of Bitcoin and as a result, the early investors earned the profit around 500% to 1000% within 6 months so considering this growth, they decided to sell some holding in order to buy later during the dips and as a result, price is falling down. There are some other factors too but this should not be a subject of worry in my opinion because it will help Bitcoin to grow in the long run.

There are many reasons for it, there's been a lot of negative news recently and there may be whales cashing out. BTC often goes through corrections though, at this rate it will likely fall under 10000 USD but don't worry it will definitely come back up.

Title: Re: Why Bitcoin is going down?

The reason behind the price fall is the people themselves, based on the chart there are more sellers than buyers which means the price goes low when people are not buying bitcoins. To resolve this issue there should be more buyer than seller to help increase the price of bitcoin. Further more, most of the people are on holidays that they are leaving the jobs to other or pause at all thus trading are slow these holidays. I think the price will go up once the holiday ends.

According to Coindesk, the cryptocurrency was trading at 13,155 (£9,822) after its value plunged by $2,000 US dollars in the space of 12 hours. It comes after a troubled week for Bitcoin in which a cryptocurrency exchange went bust in South Korea following a cyber attack. Coinbase, another exchange based in the US, also said it was opening an investigation into sharp price increases in the price of a new cryptocurrency called Bitcoin Cash.

Even it looks rude but people are now exchanging their bitcoin to Fiat because its christmas to buy some gifts and to celebrate Christmas. But how? Bitcoin is somehow has a factor of the law of demand and supply. Supply has increased due to the selling of people of bitcoin thus decreasing its value.

I cannot tell why this is happening either. I was expecting that if there would be correction, it would just be minor but seems like it is almost cut to 1/2 of its peak value. I am hoping it will recover really soon when all others are done panic selling. Also, I am surmising this is due to the increased value that it is trying to compensate the sudden blow up of Bitcoin's price.

I've noticed also the price dumping. In a short of time bitcoin price decrease 40% of its value. I think one of the reason why it down rapidly is because of this coming Christmas. Many people are selling their bitcoins so they could have moneh on Christmas. But I know it will increase again once this season ends.

This explanation is pretty reasonable.

Oh yeah that's also can be consider why people are dumping and cashing out their investment, they needed money to use on this holiday rush

bitcoin begins to decline because governments in other countries ask for bitcoin circulation tax and this causes bitcoin will be controlled by the government, because bitcoin should not be controlled by the government.

Bitcoin price is not regulated by banks or the governments, it is all “demand and supply”. Many factors set the price however, when the price falls to the point where large scale miners are not longer meeting their costs, they must begin selling their accumulated hoard of bitcoins to remain afloat while hoping the price goes back up.  This effective breakeven price represents a serious tipping point.

There are many factors why BTC price is going down. For the past month, FUDs are all over the news and social media about BTC, scams involving crypto are proliferating as well. There are also those who are profit taking for their grand vacation this coming Holiday Season. Panic Selling of those who have weak hands by just seeing this bloodbath in crypto world could have affected the price too. Scenarios like this definitely happened in the past and we all know how BTC can withstand all of that.

Why bitcoin start going down and down will it goes below 10000$?
I think that the most reasonable explanation for why the bitcoin price is going down is due to the fact that the major miners have stopped mining bitcoin and this lead to the miner fees going up and the transaction time increasing, along side these factors ethereum, bitcoin cash and some other altcoins were having an increase, and this lead to some people switching thier bitcoin to these ones to make profit from it, there is no telling what will be the stop point for bitcoin but the others are going down and as soon as the fees strat getting back to normal, i ma sure the price will start going up again.

Even if you are right and some people are cashing out the money for Christmas, I don't think it should cause such a fall in price. The volume isn't that high.

I mean this is not regular people that cause the price to fall. There are some whales that can do whatever they want.

The drop in price has nothing to do with Christmas, or with the new tax bill, or with anything limited to only a few countries.  Bitcoin is a worldwide phenomena.

Markets drop.  It's just part of any market. Nothing goes up forever.  It's all very healthy and will create the foundation for the next big run-up in price.

If you are asking for the information on why so " then we can't answer you. All I can I share is the idea of why I think it is dropping. I think that the reason behind it's decreasing value is because of the incoming holidays. I can't prove it just yet but that's all I can think of what the reason may be. There must be some logical explanations about this though some are not proven

I think this price drops due to two reasons,

1. bitcoin fork on 28th of december, some miners or investors shifts to altcoins.
2.  some companies on wall street or elsewhere, maybe investors chose to take over their profits from bitcoin and other altcoins before the end of the year.

With this price drops, more people will invest to BTC to catch this last chance.

Bitcoin's market cap has decreased in these previous day in as mad manner as it increased with in the previous weeks . This Christmas is definitely not fond of bitcoin i guess  ;D ;D . It's already a miracle that it stood so long in the 16k range for so long even tho the market cap was hugely decreasing ( more than 10 Billions of market have been lost in the last few days ) , and despite that fees were growing exponentially so people might have went for LTC or ETH to avoid paying such fees . But this will only affect those who invested in bitcoin when it was at peak in the last period , those who just earned it somehow without having to pay or invest a dime don't even care about it i think ..

The weakening of the virtual currency, Bitcoin is thought to be due to the booming influence of Bitcoin Cash (BCH), one of the cryptocurrencies that has recently started to affect the market. Bitcoin Cash price increase trend, according to him, one of them is caused by the transition from Bitcoin owners to Bitcoin Cash. Bitcoin's price decline follows supply and demand laws, while Bitcoin Cash has the opposite.

No he's right, this is probably because of the holidays.

First: It was already known and on the news how shops/stores have a rare peak this coming weekend because it doesn't happen often that Christmas is RIGHT after the weekend. This means there is a huge demand for euro's/dollars this weekend. More than in the most years because the weekends ALREADY have much more demand usually, a lot more shopping takes place. Plus, especially this year after this recession it seems people have more to spend and the expectations were that people would spend more.

So... people cash out some of their investments which had already increased in value. Have more to spent in Euro's/Dollars, have a christmas bonus, spent a christmas bonus to employee's of the investment firms, etc. etc. Especially since the crypto-currencies were rising so hard, every possible thing all came down to 1 ideal moment to cash out some of their investments.

This would probably mean that things could start recovering in the night of monday to tuesday. But ofcourse you never know in crypto-land. This is just my theory.

These falls have happened before and it had always gone up big time afterwards. People have regretted not having bought in when things were cheap. It looks worse now because the value was so high, but in percentages it's the same as almost every year. But again, this is just what i think. I don't know if something else is going on too this time.

No one is moving from bitcoin to bitcoin cash, certainly not institutional investors, merchants or exchanges. The cause of the price going down is just ordinary speculation since it moved up much too fast and in fact bitcoin cash dropped more than bitcoin in the last 24 hours.

Why bitcoin start going down and down will it goes below 10000$?

The reason for the downfall in the price of bitcoin is due to the high rate of selling of bitcoins for the festive season.
Going through the site's market cap,  we will see the reason for this downfall as there are a lot of withdrawal of bitcoins into fiat.
I'm very sure the price of bitcoin will bounce back before the middle of January.

In my understanding supply is greater than the demand people are selling bitcoin for cash due to the festive season to have more to spend and that has really affected the price, and also i guess miners has stopped mining which has led to the increase in the fees.

People are selling Bitcoin not because they are no more interested but rather they are in need of money because of the season. So eventually, its market value is expected to be more expensive. All we have to do s to hold and patiently wait.

That's an awful lot of xmas shopping going on today then!

yes, I am of the same opinion, therefore i dont worry. The reason why bitcoin is in the dump, that just expected correction and  exit of major players  for the holidays. Im waiting the growth of BTC and altcoins after 10 januar.

Once it's very low, people will buy again. Simple as that. Just wait for the next big news about bitcoin and strategize from there.

I believe the segwit2x might also play a part on the drastic fall of bitcoins but altcoins are also dipping and bleeding seriously.According to coinmarketcap about 90% of altcoins are all in red and major decline in the entire market cap
At first i also feel this is cause by segwit2x and futures. But now, i don't think many people interest more in segwit2x, from coin.dance/blocks, there is still no progress.

I think the Christmas and the new year is kind of responsible for this. People are making more transactions with money than online money. I think this "going down" of the Bitcoins value will continue until the end of the month or this year. When the price or value or rate is low, more people will tend to get a hold of more bitcoins. So, draining the value won't be a continued that long. Let see what happen in the first week of next year.

Of course Bitcoin is going down. What did you expect after the incredible price rise these last 2 months. And the price will still go down, with the whales cashing out they also trigger small investors to dump. The launch of bitcoin futures also have a part in this price fall. Watch out for the financial institutes. Bitcoin could fall way back, maybe to 8K. Then people will start buying again, causing a new price rise.

Bitkoyn recently has grown very rapidly in its value only due to the exorbitant growth in demand for it, without increasing its intrinsic value. That is, in fact, bitcoin grew like a bubble. Therefore it is not surprising that at some point he stopped in this abnormal growth and jumped back. Perhaps, the upcoming holidays played a certain role in its fall, when people make many purchases and sell their bitkoy for this. Such a drop in the price of bitcoat, I think is quite acceptable phenomenon, allowing you to bring the price of bitcoins to the real exchange rate.

###################### WARNING ABOUT CRYPTOS ########################
The 2008 financial crisis caused 500,000 CANCER DEATHS!!!
(If any doubt, just do your own research).

        9/11 WAS ### A JOKE ### IN COMPARISON

Who is mainly RESPONSIBLE FOR THIS CRIME? #### BANKERS ####
Have they been to JAIL? #### NO ####
WHY? JUST THINK.

##### NEVER FORGET THESE INNOCENT 500,000 VICTIMS WHO SUFFERED BEFORE DYING ##### (LIKE SHOAH)

Now, bankers & central banks are afraid to lose their jobs because of cryptos,
so they try to scare governments about:

1) their FIAT currency
2) losing control and power
3) losing taxes revenues

What they currently do is create ARTIFICIAL HUGE VOLATILITY on cryptos (they have enough funds for that).
They want an EXCUSE to "protect" investors.

In reality, they just want to take CONTROL (REGULATIONS OR BAN)

They also SCARE PEOPLE ON SOCIAL MEDIAS, PRESS, OR TV (CNBC for instance).

DO NOT LET THEM F#CK YOU AND YOUR FAMILY ONCE MORE.

WE DON'T NEED ALL THESE MOTHERF#CKERS ANYMORE.

===> ACCEPT CRYPTO PAYMENTS FOR ANYTHING INSTEAD OF FIAT. BUY MORE CRYPTOS. <===

NOW YOU KNOW. PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD. THANKS

Hi,

Thank you! I believe this is a correct analysis of the situation, unfortunately.
The banks should be banned, not the cryptocurrencies.
9/11 = You cannot see the wood for the trees.

Greetz

Not only bitcoin down but all crypto currencies also goes down as ethereum dropped 32% bitcoin cash dropped 37% and all other currencies are falling. Major sell up crypto currencies start in the market on Friday. I don’t anonymous reason behind bitcoin dropped out. But bitcoin will rise soon i hope so. Bitcoin is one of the best currency in features and properties if it goes down all crypto currencies will go down.

The price is going down because right now is a festive season many users or investors is cashing out to be used in holidays. But i think at the end of the year the bitcoin will still increase.
I think no need to worry or panic very thing will be right and it will start going up again. New year will be great for crypto and in next 2 month all coin will boom.I think the reason that's why people are dumping and cashing out their investment, they needed money to use on this holiday rush. so, we might see bitcoin to rise up maybe next year value will continue to fall down, just hold and buy if you still have spare money.

No one knows the reason bt thats what happens in the market
If the prices rise too high there is a short downfall period
Maybe bt the end of January the prices again would rise by 20%
The market is unpredictable, anything can happen

Its a part of game and economically reason is that once too much investment injected will results demand and create shortage of supply which force to increase the prices, and once there is excess of availability but shortage of buying results the price going down.

The Bitcoin Foundation is a joke and it has been known as a joke for years. Maybe 3-4 years ago some businesses wanted to be associated with them and were buying their membership to legitimize themselves, show that they're supporting the idea, but those times are long gone. TBF is a greedy organization with no influence, that's it.

IMO the real reason was the Chinese government threatening to limit power used by the biggest bitcoin mines. Some news outlets like coindesk have been going on and on about it for days.

Bitcoin prices have fallen sharply due to a number of reasons. Bitcoin exchange rate fluctuations have been erratic, mainly because Bitcoin has been hit hard by negative news, Affected by the events of the year such as Christmas, New Year's greetings, etc. The news that Bitcoin is just a bubble that makes it possible for people to sell out Bitcoin all the time is also making the Bitcoin rate drop sharply in recent months.

So, according to you, a bunch of self proclaiming crypoto spokesmen who made a lot of money from selling their elite membership is dragging us in to a bear market.
Tether certainly does look shady. Anyway, the article doesn't prove that they are lying about the money nor does it show the direct connection between it and the BTC surge. It's all guessing and speculation. What does my personal opinion about TBF have to do with USDT?

The only bad news that I recently saw is that Chinese government is closing some mining operations in China.
Looking from a different point of view, it is not a bad thing for Bitcoin, because it will make miners spread around the world, and therefore make Bitcoin more decentralized.

I think since bitcoin reached 18000, it's hard to push it higher. A lot of money stream out to find some cheaper but valuable coins. Capital always wants quick money.

Soon there should be an increase in correction for $ 12,000 will soon go to $ 20000 .. smoothly.

For sure if you bought bitcoin on the day when you started this topic and until today you hold it for sure you will earn 50 perxent from your cpital because the price of the bitcoin this day is 14,500 dollars this price decrease compared to the last price of the last few days.  Decreasing price of bitcoin it's normal it's part of the bitcoin so it will increase more to the current highest price.  Better if you see the price of the bitcoin decrease better if you buy a lot of bitcoin to earn more profit in the future incase the price of this coin will increase more.  I like bitcoin and I want the price to increase more not to decrease because if the price become very high we can benefits that.

I think the Bitcoin exchange rate will not go down to $ 10000, Bitcoin's lowest rate will be $ 13,000. The reason for the decrease in Bitcoin exchange rate was due to the bad news about Bitcoin, which led to the trend of investing in Ethereum, altcoins and ICO.

Seeing bitcoin's market value falls down is just natural for bitcoin and other digital currencies around. Maybe investors are selling some of their bitcoins or maybe the demand of bitcoin today is low after the Christmas holidays. Well, i just don't know. That's what keeps on bothering me too as to why bitcoin is so stagnant these days.

With it's bullish run last year,  it is normal for the price to drop after that insane 13 leaps and quickly reach $20000. Correction is bound to happen will the fall was not to great because it stayed in $14-15k. Dont be afraid this is how the volatile market works just hodl it may have a bullish run again this 2018.

That's right, there is nothing we can do for that to hold and keep bitcoin always having a price. Market price always varies in supply and demand, and we can't control it especially the numbers of investors coming in which can contribute a lot of changes in the market trend.

agreed,
law of supply and demand.
we really can't stop anyone from selling their coins.
it is theirs they are free to do what they want with it.
hence we really can't control the market if some people will sell due to panic, fud's, etc.

Many factors were need to be considered for the reason for this. It can be a normal reaction of the market and many were just taking profits. Remember that this season, many traders or investors are making this move so it is normal for a coin to plummet or dip. It will eventually climb to its range once investors come back in. Bitcoin is also volatile regarding news and many were being affected by FUD. Because of this many were panic selling and regret later on. These news, intentional or not, extremely affects Bitcoin which can be an opportunity to buy or the other way around. Just believe in Bitcoin, you are in good hands. :)

Many factors that affect bitcoin prices fall this month, after the end of the year bitcoin reaches the highest price at 20k $ is considered quite expensive for some bitcoin owners and they sell it, Christmas celebrations and new year that require funds also affect bitcoin owners to sell it, as well the existence of statements of some countries that bans bitcoin makes a bad fundamental to bitcoin prices.

I don't think it will go down deeper $10k. The huge dump of bitcoin price really affect the trust of some individual who are still doubted the capability of bitcoin. That's why they are just selling their btc even in lower price in order to recover their investment though they losing which is for me that is not a good idea. I know btc will recover soon, we have to patiently wait for that and then sell.

Always there are two sides of a coin, always there is a dark of night after the lights of the day.  Up and down is definite and certain in a circle which is always moving.

But some times it is natural and other time it is man made.  Every business idea starts honestly and with hard work but when the time comes getting fruits of it some cheaters; fraudsters ; thieves; decoits will attack and will try to take away the profits from the innocent; honest entrepreneurs, traders, inventors, investors etc.

I think the same thing happening here in crypto market.  Like in share market there are speculators all the time pushing and pulling the share market upwards and downwards and surprisingly they gain from all the ups and downs of the market which is dancing at their commands, but innocent investors unknown of all the cunningness of those speculators, loss their hard earned money they invested in the share market with the hope of earning some money from there.

In the same way I think it is happening because many speculative investors have entered in bitcoin business and they are all creating this type of speculative artificial ups and downs of prices of bitcoin.  Investors must be careful while buying and selling because it should be done only after deep study of the market and not blindly otherwise he will burn his hands only.

bitcoin is going down because if you check historical data,  this is the period bitcoin dumps first each year and also it probably does do because many people cash out of crypto  at the end of each year and are slow to invest back at the start of a new year.

The fall in price is because of its less demand in market. And demand is getting less because of increase in demand of etherum and other alt coins with good potential.

for topics like this I think there's a lot of discussion in this forum. you can be more thorough. but apart from that if I may argue, the rise or fall of the bitcoin value is because it is influenced by market demand with bitcoin reduction ascertained due to the current supply increase in the market that causes the drop in bitcoin prices but I think this is quite relevant because the current situation needs more budget .

I think there are some people who keep on hold bitcoin because last month bitcoin price was very high and then at the end its price become low so the reason was people keep it on hold because first they were selling bitcoin when bitcoin price was high at start of the month and then when it’s price start going more high so people stop selling and people keep it on hold so the price become low and same its happening again here.
