This is not a new attempt to perform mining via mobile.
And the project that tried to ventured on this kind of mining was not successful.

I have seen and learned more about this project. I think this project is quite promising and has a great chance to become a successful project in the future. But maybe you should make the announcement thread look rather fancy so people are more interested in participating in this project.

This is actually The Mobile Coin - Phoneum will only work on mobile devices, making it impossible for PCs and ASIC miners to take all the difficulty :)

I have been made to believe that mobile mining is not practically possible but I tend not to believe in absolute term. Is your project something similar to Electroneum and what differentiates yours? More info is needed on this thread as regards this project.

I thought mobile mining is quite impossible to do but it seems to be that I am wrong. The video is quite informative and it makes me more interested with this ICO. I will explore more about mobile mining because I think it is more reliable and easy compare to mining rig.

what are your considerations for making such a project of mobile mining like this, because I think mine on mobile will be very much a risk in the exception if the app you use low capacity will be the internal memory of the device.
but in my opinion it will probably take up space in the device, and make the device work poorly. but besides that need to try too, because I have never used this kind.

Yes. I use to be on the same side of the coin with you, believing that mobile mining is not going to be possible. But I started to change my perspective on the possibility after watching videos and reading whitepapers of such project as Electroneum and now Phoneum. I wish the project luck.

The way projects work is by implementing powerful computers to do all the work. With Phoneum and it's custom algorithm, we made it available on mobile devices only, therefor anyone with a mobile device can join and begin mining, but not PCs and ASIC miners.

The difference between us and Electroneum is:

- Proof of work + Proof of time consensus algorithms
- No PC mining allowed ( equal opportunity for all mobile device owners)

Depending on the algo, its possible or not. I've been mining using my phones for altcoins since a while and it helps. You can mine with only them or add them to your miners/workers.

As has been said by everyone else in this thread, mining on mobile does not sound like a good idea at all. Why risk a device when you'll probably make less than the cost of the device in the end? ???

Seems that you and "everyone else in this thread" maybe didnt read the whitepaper or do not understand it.
 
This looks like is absolutely new project developing new solution for mobiles with new algorithm created for mobile phones only.

So you and others can't compare it to previous attempt of mining good knowing cryptos on mobile devices.

I believe as its stays in the whitepaper its low energy consumption so will probably not drain battery, not generate extra heat by heavy load on CPU, will monitor your device.

The difference between us and Zipper, is that Zipper offers Blockchain access to services through the app, while we offer a mobile only miner, wallet and p2p network of transactions on its own custom blockchain.

Not quite right, a similar project from Electronium and they had very good fees and now they have made an excellent mobile wallet, probably this project will be a competitor to Electronium, but probably also can raise money for ICO.

Wow just downloaded the Alpha Android App and was mining coins on the test network for a bit, very cool watching the miner collect the PHM coins.

I downloaded the app and it keeps crashing. At the start it asks for the login, then the permissions, when it logs you in, is when the crash comes, as soon as you end giving the permissions, it shuts off. Anyways, thanks devs, at least the app is there, keep up the good work. These bugs are something common. I'll be waiting for an update.

I found a way to run it. De install the app, then reinstall and skip giving access to the camera. its running nicely now

Mobile mining has to be taken seriously, because it's the next step in cryptocurrencies and mining. We are in a new generation of mining, cpu thought, not gpu or asics here. Mobile mining is here, phoneum devs are the pioneers on true mobile mining.

People has been generally reluctant to use smartphones and tablets to mine, but the possibilities are there. I'm on to this project, it's going to be profitable and the most, prosperous. Mobile mining as I previously said, is the next step on mining, because your energy needs are lower, also the generated heat is lower, but the performance is where you see why you need to give a shot.

If you have an entry level smartphone(4 cores, at least 1 GHz per core, 1 GB of ram and Android 4 to 5 inches screen, for this case scenario), you can make an estimated 4~4.2 phm per hour, anyways your mileage may vary, still its a good measure and it gives an idea of how much can you earn.

Phoneum has a good future, it has the blessing of the start of the year. But away from superstition, it's future is in the good odds. That's my humble opinion, my two cents.

Well mobile mining is the hot discussion in the market and I hope this one does some wonders. Earlier there were few projects that were launched and then died soon as the people behind this project were not able to deliver/manage the show. The latest one that I can think of is Electrum...if I got the name right. They also have mobile miner but then everything is delayed and they were not able to meet the deadlines that they set earlier hence lot of people lost interest in their project.

I hope this one kicks in well and the project is able to meet all benchmarks.

One thing I noticed is that the whitepaper isn't very detailed. We really need more technical information about the tech behiind your coin and how it'll work and scale.

Mobile mining is the next gen of crypto mining. As far as I know, some other projects with mobile mining platform are also being developed. I think Phoneum has a great chance to get there. I wiil keep watching the development because it is a potential project to follow.

Will The Coins in testnet burn after testing?

Wow, that's a lot of time. Also considering that the coins will be burn when this starts on April, it seems very far out of reach.

I like this project alot but I think its also a very long time given the coins will be burned. I have to wonder how many of the miners mining it now know the coins are going to be burned.

I think when it hits 1000 miners it should be enough to see if you got things right or not.

That's very easy thing to do and it's cheaper to run a phoneum farm and remember, your electricity bill will be lower, in comparison to the other coins.

Why do you need video permissions?

Thats not video, its picture so you can scan QR Codes. I also am gonna recommend to the DEV to make it possible to copy and paste addresses from the recent transactions menu

Well, this coin is different, there is a network behind it and the algorythm altough haven't been disclosed, its ethereum alike. As far as I know, the app doesn't do any harm to your phone nor battery. I've been using it since the first 0.3v release and never done anything bad to my phone. I've been using my phones for mining and they get pretty hot, but with phoneum app, they don't. I have a heater in the bedroom, gets pretty warm and the phones don't those stay cool.

So, don't worry and as for now, everything mined is being produced on a testnet, when the app launches officially, all coins will be burn. Feel free to try it and to keep the app tidy, talk about the errors, crashes and stuff. I don't know much, but I can help.

I tried the miner and it seems good. I mined 1 coin in 1 hour. It also battery friendly.

Don't forget that you can use your phone normally, mine at the same time and have a cold cpu, because it never gets warm when using phoneum

The algo doesn't have to be resource intensive if it is limited to something a phone can do. This is what electroneum should have been, a working alpha 2 months before the ICO. You can take the pointers from electroneum though, markting is very important!

great project. mobiles consume less energy than heavy hardware. So this would be more profitable and cost effective . if the same encryption are used  i guess it will take time confirm blocks as mobiles are consist with less powerful processes

What I meant was, that 2 days ago we have launched our platform with airdrop tasks. One of the tasks was to write about the project in our Bitcointalk thread. Therefore, people just decided to post all those comments on their own will, and we have never told anyone what to write.

1) Yeah, I think that you sort of came out strongly and explained the reason for the enslaught of one-liners down here. If you are interested, I wrote a PM to you.

2) I am in the negos right now with 2 teams and want to become a community manager for their ICOs. I've drawn an extremely valuable learning. Never-ever incentivize any sort of posting. Actually, you'd be much better off just deleting all them one-line posts, coz it looks really fishy.


This is a very correct approach, Taseigerku.

I think that the project would have to deliver on the three fronts:

1) deliver an actual solution to a problem - how I mine with my mobile phone
2) prevent any whale-ification by restriciting the allowed number of tokens that any particular person can purchase
3) prevent any dumpt action - will I guess that if you ahve 1) and 2) in place, then you just need to regularly post updated info on the socials and move on with your project, rolling outs its stages.

Where can we find any information about the results of this test.

I would be interested in learning more about the following:

1) general description on the mining mechanics
2) utilized power
3) the results, obtained by the users.

I mean that if you look at BTC, you can see that the advent of ASICs made it impossible to mine, using your ordinary PC. If the same is going to happen with the Phoneum, this system will not be that sustainable. Are you using any mechanisms to prevent the same spiral happening in your system?

Yes, there's a bunch of low-post-count users that pop up, say a five-word sentence and move out. It's quite possible that there can be one puppet master who uses these accounts to bump up the thread.

I personally don't believe in mobile-enable mining, coz the devices would not spend a lot of energy and that's why it's unfeasible.

Phoneum is for mobile devices only. No PC's, GPU's or ASIC's. There isn't any problem if you let your phone mining, even if you leave it for hours, your device will be cold to the touch.

2. add some kind of hashrate and/or shares statistics
3. POT statistics
4. new address generation and labeling
5. mining history
6. the mined coin graphic doesn't fully display
7. maybe a more visually appealing mining animation
8. obviously after there is a market cap a current coin value display

Currently, you can get real coins by participating in the Airdrop campaign, and claim them after May 18th.

4. Turn your phone's language back to English. The problem will be solved.

Hello ! One question, It's still emulating mining ? When i will mining for real with the app ?

anyways, which coin will be worth to mine with your phone anyways? I think right now phone mining is kinda just like a game, you don't even see any worth in the insignificant amount you can mine, unless you have a botnet. So then, for the average user, what's the coin they will be able to mine with this? Is it for phoneum itself so transactions are validated with phones in the network, so it's going to be an algo just for phoneum or what? is this an erc20 token? then how any of what I said could be done?

I saw this project at the initial stages and excitement surrounding it then. But I know deep down within me that it's just another scheme to rip us off of our hard earned money and here we are today. Nothing to show for it

I think everyone remembers the project SIRIN Labs ... These projects are similar. Sirin Labs collected about 150 million dollars at ICO. Do you see any progress? I do not see any progress, except that the price of their token is on the bottom of the bottom))) But the money was collected very, very much.
In the Phoneum project, the minimum amount of fees is 1 million dollars, and the maximum 20. I do not think that investing in this project is a good idea.

I'm not very aware of what configuration the mobile phone mining token needs, whether the configuration of the mobile phone has an impact on the number of excavates or is it just as fair, but only according to time.

The date of your sale announced in your ANN is totally different from the one announced in your website. This is showing a lack of care on the side of the team, since nobody of your large team seems to have noticed and/or cared about this mistake.

It could change the face of cryptocurrency mining and usage as we know it over the next few years.

With 2 Galaxy S4's running, I have mined almost 4000 tokens in a little over a month. I have been very pleased with the way it works, so far. Looking forward to see how this project takes off.

The team looks suitable strong from a technical point of view, but is probably light on individuals who can take charge of developing and implementing a go to market strategy.

The use of mobile phones has grown exponentially over the past decade and a large number of people use their phones more than their computers. This platform can enable smartphone users to earn coins through a portable medium.

Hello everyone!

Recently we have been made aware of Google banning crypto currency mining apps in their Google Play Store. This comes on the heels of Apple banning mining apps a month ago.

We at Phoneum applaud this decision. Sometimes cleaning house is required in order to reestablish credibility. Gone will be the apps that overheat phones, destroy battery life, mine in the background without permission, or make promises that can’t be delivered upon.

Unfortunately, we fully expect that our app will be thrown into this basket, without fully understanding the capabilities or the science behind Phoneum.

But we also believe that as the word gets out, acceptance will come. And with that acceptance, the ability to truly mine on a smart mobile device.

Ivan Likov, the founder and lead developer on the Phoneum project has spent years creating an algorithm that can mine on a smart mobile device, just as one would while using an expensive mining rig. He took the unusual route of self-funding and creating a Proof of Concept (PoC) to prove the naysayers wrong. Phoneum believes in transparency and will be releasing the code on GitHub when we are on the main net later this year.

Imagine for a moment, how true mobile mining changes the game. With over 2.1 Billion smart devices worldwide, the playing field has never been more even.

How does this work?

Phoneum uniquely combines Proof of Work (PoW) and Proof of Time (PoT) consensus mechanisms in which to earn PHM tokens. This combination ensures all miners are rewarded for their participation and contribution to network growth – rewarding all miners for any time that is spent running the Phoneum app, unlike traditional PoW consensus algorithms that only reward the miner who is first to solve the cryptographic puzzle. The algorithm has been developed to separate ASIC or computer-based miners to ensure they do not game the network and ensures a level-playing field for mobile-only miners.

The app is designed to leverage a device’s built-in battery and CPU sensors to monitor device temperature and ensure that it does not overheat. If a smart mobile device approaches overheating, the user will receive a notification that they are temporarily “off” from mining. However, unlike in a Proof of Work (PoW) only consensus mechanism where a computer must be constantly doing work in order to earn rewards (Which can lead to increased risk of overheating) Phoneum’s customized algorithm integration of Proof of Time (PoT) will enable miners to continue to earn rewards. While the mining function in the app is not active, it is still functioning as a node while the app is open and this Proof of Time (PoT) applies to help miners to continue to earn rewards.

We have data to back this up. We began alpha testing first on Android in January 2018. We maxed our cap of 10,000 downloads, with not a single reported incident of overheating or shortened battery life. In fact, the data in many cases showed that the Phoneum app used less resources than the majority of popular apps on the Google Play Store. The iOS Beta was launched in February 2018 and was capped at 10,000 downloads. Again, no reports of overheating or shortened battery life. Currently we are running on a combined testnet that allows for both Android and iOS to coexist. We have over 13,000 active miners online. They too have not reported any issues with the apps and applaud its simplicity and stability.

Our mission is to provide mining for everyone. While Google (and Apple) feel the need to ban mobile mining apps, we have made the conscious decision to release Phoneum outside of the Google Play environment. The incredibly popular game, Fortnite, has recently announced a similar approach.

August 28, 2018 - We are pleased to announce that Phoneum will be adopting the Bancor Protocol. Using the Bancor Network (https://www.bancor.network/?utm_source=bitcointalk&utm_medium=pr&utm_content=phoneum&utm_campaign=announcement), holders of the Phoneum token (PHM) will be able to convert PHM to any token on the Bancor Network. Users who want to buy PHM tokens will be able to buy them directly through the Bancor Web App.


“We believe that mobile technology will drive cryptocurrency adoption. Bancor is not like other exchanges where people buy and sell tokens. The Bancor Protocol involves various Relay Tokens. A Relay Token is an ERC20 compliant token that is configured with two connectors, one that holds a balance of BNT and one that holds a balance of another ERC20 token. So, it can be PHMBNT (Phoneum Bancor Relay) or ETHBNT (Ether Bancor Relay). Converting one token for another is done through these relays on the Bancor Network.

Understanding the Phoneum token Relay:


The Relay Token will hold two token types. One is the PHM and the other is BNT. People who want to convert tokens using our Relay Token can send one type of token to our Relay Token (like BNT) and this will then buy an intermediate token called PHMBNT. This will then be exchanged for PHM.

Each step of the transaction will incur 0.1% transaction fee. There were two conversions in this case, so the fee would be 0.2%.

Therefore, using a transaction path we can convert PHM to any other token on the Bancor Network in no more than two steps.

ETH > BNT > PHMBNT > PHM (this can also work in reverse)

Hi, I like this project a lot and have also invested in the ICO, but I think you guys should have allowed free participation in the bounty program to make it viral, let everyone participate and only choose the top ones (they have to provide proof) to win the bounties. In my humble opinion, it was a mistake only choosing certain amount of people to participate in the bounty program, because if you choose 30 people for a certain task, maybe half of those chosen wont even do it anymore or changed their mind or now forgot about this after 3 weeks waiting. Also, it took you guys 3 weeks to send the emails to the applicants of the bounty program, those were 3 valuable weeks that could have been used to spread the word and make this viral.

Pros:

• You guys have a great working product: still in Beta but it works wonderful, the app doesnt drain the battery nor heats the cell phone, which shows you guys are very good on the technical aspect.
• You guys are honest: you decided to get a working product first and self-fund yourselves almost a year, and then after that start the ICO, this is very admirable. Very different from 99% of the ICOs out there.
• The concept is wonderful: mining only with your mobile will make it easy for the regular people to be able to join the crypto world and mine without having to spend thousands of dollars in equiptment like antminers or any of those devices that are too difficult to set up and take too much electric power. Only mining (real mining) with your mobile, is genius.

Cons:

• You guys dont know how to market this product. The bounty program is a good example on how inneficient you guys are at trying to make this go viral or promote this great product. You SHOULD NOT control who participates in the bounty program, you SHOULD let whoever wants to participate go ahead and do it, and they themselves send you proof daily/weekly of their progress in getting the word out. Should have hired just 1 guy to be in charge of this supervision.
• It took you 3 weeks to send the emails to the applicants of the bountry program. Almost half of the time of the ICO. A lot of valuable time wasted.

Anyway, I wish you guys good luck and hopefully see the release of the mainnet before the end of the year.

If it's relying on sensors then that can be easily faked.

A little bit about the project. Initially, the idea of ​​the project was - fire! But lately something has gone wrong ... A lot of participants have recently been faced with blocking accounts. Including me, I had all 3 accounts blocked (on which in total there were about 6000 PHM) that I don’t know with them now. Calls to tech support do not lead to anything - they just answer with phrases on duty, and simply keep silent on other questions. This trend leads to certain bad thoughts about the project. And one more wake-up call - the telegram in their channel the number of participants dropped from almost 16,000 to 12,000.

In general, "pereobulsya in the jump" - the initial idea is changed radically. The conditions stated at the beginning of the project are very much changed. Strong doubts that the project will take off. Although the original idea was great.

I absolutely hate the withdrawl limit. I think its an unrealistic minimum. That goes for all the crypto withdrawls for Crypto Treasure. Please can that be changed to something more realistic??

You do not "make money" ever by playing their games!!
1. If you want to reach ANY withdrawal limit on ANYTHING, you must buy their shitty package if you do not have half year of time to invest in their apps.
Some users who were there since the beginning and playing their first game was not able to withdraw anything, for example after half a year, somebody even after buying their scam packages. Just visit google play reviews.

2. Only OWNERS make money!! Thousands of stupid humans watching their ads on daily basis.

3. You are able to withdrawal but only if you invest 1000x more in cash than directly buy specific coins OR if you are planning waste something like 2 hours DAILY for half or even whole year.
It is something like 365 - 730 hours. With today's rate, it will be something like 3 USD?
0.002 - 0.004 per HOUR OF TIME WASTING!!
BUT after some time, this token price will be AGAIN zero, even on "new" exchange, because after some time, some stupid time wasters will be able to withdraw and then they will dump it on exchange. So, the price will be 0 after sime tome.

4. Of course, they will be buying some of the shitty tokens by themself to keep the price high to motivate stupid users to watch ads and maybe even pay real money for shitty packages, but after the first wave of selling, they will stop, dont worry about that. (This is the reason why there are so high withdrawal limits, especially for their shitty token.)
- There was already one dump after their SCAM ICO, I mean after the start of trading of this shitty token. The dump was made by "owners"/developers. Nothing changes, it was and it is still big scam.
