No you don't have to do to your coins anything. Just let them be there. Once new wallet is released you have to copy from old wallet file called wallet.dat to safe. After that you copy it to new wallet. There will be instructions to let people know how that is done so dont worry if you didn't understand.

No, You don't have to do anything, all you need is copy Wallet.dat file to new Bitstar core V2 and sync your wallet!

dev i sent 13641 bits from yobit to crytopia 1 hour ago. yobit is already completed but has not yet arrived on crytopia. why and I dontt see him at deposit historiy.

Yes, we're hoping to have that sometime this year, we're also working on a more modern front end for the main wallet.  and yes its probably safer to have them in your own (old wallet pre swap) wallet than on trex as they may not update their wallet, so this may mean your coins are stuck on the old chain.  We'll fire them a message so they know about this.

But your new wallet is still QT based? If so, having a nice GUI is gonna be difficult, I would recommend following the approach I had on Waves and strike a web client as lite wallet, very configurable and can look quite good.

It all depends on Cryptopia really and at the moment they are not doing very well on the customer service front.  The plan is to do a 1:1 swap, so they can just swap out the wallet and carry on, however after over 3 weeks they still havent responded to any communication from us or other members, that is the only reason I said it may be safer to keep them on your own wallet, that and you can stake and make more of course.

Good news, Cryptopia is apparently updating the walllet for the HardFork.  8)

Cryptopia is one big mess atm, i have coins stuck there in a transaction since 27 Dec and still no ansver on my support ticket. Alot of people have trouble with various coins transfered to them so i would be cautious when transfering to them at this moment untill they fix their ****

Great news on the wallet update!..congrats on the swap. Copied the old wallet.dat into the new appdata folder for bitstarcoin and it looks to be working. We are staking now....but wanted to let you know that about 50% are being generated but not accepted. Maybe this will clear up when we go into straight staking. Also only 2 bitstar connections to the network at the moment... we never added a .config file for it was not necessary with the old wallet as we had usually 5-10 connections. please advise should we add nodes? if so..instructions plz. I am only getting orphans after the wallet update and was staking just fine before?! Any feedback?

PM us the orphan details from the debug log and we'll look into it, but not had any reports of any other users having problems so far.

As per roadmap the website has been updated to a more modern look with a lighter colour theme, this will be the theme we use in the future including on any wallet updates.

Wallet upgrade

• The upgrade is all going to plan so far and still on track to the roadmap time scale... Testing for the update is happening now and is going to very well, as we had planned this will be a none fork update, this means while it will be highly recommended to upgrade to this new wallet, it will not be mandatory (so there should be no extra exchange issues).  The only change however will be that the wallet.dat will be incompatable with the current wallet (because we're using a much newer version of bdb), this means when upgrading to this wallet you will need to import your private keys manually, this is probably wise anyway as it seems to speed up the wallet.  This update will move us much further upchain in the Bitcoin core code giving many speed and security upgrades while also giving us the ability to list Bitstar on Barterdex along with building our planned Bitstar services over the coming year.

Any information, when will Cryptopia continue trading ?

Hello Bitstar team...I have been staking on the new wallet successfully for the past month (with 1/4 blocks being orphaned)...until last night. Now my wallet is showing a lesser balance and will not sync. It is 17 hours behind..and has not changed for the past few hours. I have 10 active bitstar connections.
When I first started the new wallet I dropped in my old wallet.dat and everything was working fine until now. The debub window is full of errors from yesterday and finished with all orphaned blocks?
Please advise, thank you.

Also, is there an active block explorer for the bitstarcoin chain? as the links from coinmarketcap no longer link to functional ones. Thanks you.

Cryptopia: are looking into the swap, because they didnt stop the market when we asked them to back in december there are some issues they have to deal with before reactivating new wallet.

Only 2 addresses on windows 10 and yes im using the windows wallet and only bitstarcoin.

With only 2 addresses, the easiest way is to go to the debug console and "dumpprivkey" for each address, then install new wallet and let sync, once done on new wallet go to debug console and "importprivkey"

The project has strong foundations and if properly executed, it will be successful.

We have made progress, we upgaded the wallet to bitcoin core 0.12 and got added to the Barterdex decentralised exchanged, unfortunatly we cannot control the exchanges, Cryptopia are upgrading the wallet, and yobit ignore all messages.

So, still issue with cryptopia ... , I think I lost all my coins  :( :(

I don't know what goes on in the devs ' head, but they're also losing profits hindering our trade that way. Bits would have already generated Hundreds of thousands of dollars of volume in these months of maintenance.  :(

 That sounds like a joke, I'm losing patience... I'm going to have to sue them.  :(

Cryptopia are having problems matching their balances, they have sent me a list to check which i've spot checked some addresses and all were perfect, so i've asked them to supply expected balances so I can check v1 explorer vs v2 block one amount vs what they have in their ledger.  If I don't hear back from them in the next few hours i'll chase up the email again.

In the mean time i'm going to write a script to check all of the addresses they sent v1 vs block 1 v2 explorer, and going to be contacting other exchanges.

From our messages they will want paying to keep the market open (they consider the fork a new coin), but they don't want payment to return any coins, I'm currently working with them in emails to sort their issues, they are just very slow replying unfortunatly.

Good... These guys don't even understand how fork works. We need a New Exchange (centralized) right now. But I'm still seriously considering taking down Cryptopia.

Darthguyx reminded me about novaexchange, they had shut down our wallet and market for the swap, but they were closing down so we didn't check back in with them.  They now have new owners and the market appears to be re-enabled so I've emailed them to check if they are on the v1 or v2 chain, it should be fine anyway as their wallet should have been offline all of this time.  Will update if/when they reply.

Just heard back from Nova exchange, they are on v1 wallet but as it has been offline all of this time there will be no swap conflict, they are now upgrading to the v2 wallet

Users have been saying there are some changes on cryptopia also, with their balance reflecting a swap, haven't heard back from the cryptopia wallets team yet, its good to see some movement though.

Cryptopia have now replied, they have said deposit and withdrawals now work, market is also live once again

That was long road with the upgrade but it ended with success!  8)

It's time to raise the level of the game. So we have the right to continue...   :)

This is a final lesson for me (I had many issues in depositing coins into Cryptopia before), I will never deposit strange coins into Cryptopia, it takes so much time to get the coin or even we have to wait for so long time to resolve the issue
I don't have much money, if coin was held --> I have nothing to invest, so sad & tired...

The problem is that Yobit is running an outdated wallet. Which is not compatible with the updated wallet that Cryptopia is running.

Complain about Yobit's lousy support, it's the problem, not Cryptopia.

@Bitstar_coin What is the process for swapping BITS for BATL? As the two projects are intrinsically linked, this information can be useful in the future.  8)

YoBit has to-date completely ignored our attempts to get them to upgrade their wallet. (It appears they may only do this for an outrageous fee.) So we did our best to inform everyone to withdraw their BITS from YoBit before the hard fork/wallet upgrade. At this point, "BitStar" on YoBit is still running an old fork, which will no longer be supported (the fork was necessary to do all the new features being worked on - see roadmap) and is incompatible with the current wallet and Cryptopia (who has upgraded). In retrospect it would have been wiser to never have worked to get listed on YoBit in the first place.  :-[

I can confirm that deposits to Cryptopia DOES work with the current wallet, so most likely you are trying to send coins from the old wallet (pre-fork) or from YoBit who never upgraded and is thus also on the old chain of BitStar. So the question is - where do you have your BitStar coins?

Further more if i go to the top 100 richlist the amount shown there is not what i have in my wallet, and if i let my wallet stake for a few days it suddenly shows a incorrect amount +- a couple of thousand BITS and i have to restart it to have the correct amount shown again. I have tryed using google crome, microsoft edge and maxthon none of them works when i click or search my address using the newest block explore http://explorer.v2.bitstarcoin.com/

Im starting to think my wallet address is somehow "bugged" as the amount shown in the rich list is not reflecting the amount in my qt wallet.

You probably have too many transactions for the explorer to handle, its currently on a temp server.  As for amounts, could you have some in other addresses? (ie change addresses etc)

It could be that i have too many transactions, if i click any other address in the rich list it opens it just fine.

As for the amount when i do a listaddressgroupings in the older v2.0.0.1 qt wallet i can only find 1 address witch contains 0.001 BITS, but that still dosent add up for 351 BITS missing, hence i wanted to try and backtrack with the block explore.  Could it be that thees missing BITS are on the older blockchain and lost now?

I know i can clean all my transactions up by just sending it all to a new wallet and start a fresh, but its just that after almost 4 years i have memorized my main address and would hate to do it all over again.

on the v2.0 wallet it may be worth trying "repairwallet" from the debug console

I have tried the "repairwallet" command on the v2.0 wallet and all it returns is "wallet check passed" : true. And the amount stays the same in the wallet and not reflecting the rich list. Its not that its a too big of a deal to me that only 351BITS are missing i would just like to know where they are "hiding"?

@Bitstar_coin if you want i can empty my wallet and start a new one and then send you the old wallet.dat from both the v2.0 and v2.5? In case you want to run some debugging on it and see where the missing BITS went and why the v2.5 wallet sometimes jumps a couple of thousands +- BITS after staking for a few days, and if you are lucky to find the missing BITS its yours to keep :)

yeah, i understand how you feel because i have also experience same few months back and it wasn't a very pleasant experience for me either, honestly i cant not understand why cryptopia as an exchange has to be this complex to deal with,
personally, am not very trilled with the ui of the platform because all it does is freeze up at any given time any the mobile version is even worse, not to mention the delay in transaction of some tokens, so i tried to avoid any token that is only listed in that exchange until others have it.

How to exploit this coin?

Actually at the moment its yobit that is the problem, they refuse to answer support requests to update the wallet, its been 10 months since i opened the first request, absolute joke!  Cryptopia (after a long delay) are up to date and working perfectly currently.

Just a quick update now that we have cryptopia fixed, and nova upgrading the wallet (we have to consider yobit a written off exchange due to lack of replies DO NOT USE YOBIT!!!). We have started again on the projects to move this coin forward.

The main ones being

• We are now working on upgrading the wallet to the 0.16 bitcoin core. (to allow us to create a better front end)
• We have continued work on the framework for the p2p exchange and ecommerce system.

Unfortunatly as we had no ICO funds like a lot of current projects, this is still very much a part time project for us, so things take a bit more time as we have to fit it around our day jobs, and while we didnt hit the Q2 road map targets that we wanted due to the exchanges problem putting everything on hold we are hoping to move them into Q3 and get them all done by then.

Cryptopia shutdown??I have some bits at the platform.

Cryptopia was hacked at this week. Cryptopia informed NZ police and there for hacking is being investigated under police investigation.
I dont think cryptopia will open doors soon since it seems that lots of coins were hacked.

Myebe never open again , i think cant get back my coins. :'( :'(. so the bits lost the platform to trade.  now almost  no trade volume.

" Updateto Cryptopia customers who have contacted New Zealand Police - 11 February 2018:

Policeacknowledge your frustration with the time the investigation appears to be taking and appreciate your patience.     Cryptopia’s customer base is very large withover 2 million global users, according to the company, so police have to manage numerous queries from affected investors.

Ifyou continue to look online for any media updates as that is generally how information is disseminated to the public by New Zealand Police.   This will be an ongoing enquiry for some timeand police are often constrained as to what we can release as we do not want to potentially compromise an active investigation or subsequent prosecution.


Themost recent media release on the 7 February 2019 is below:

The Police investigation into the Cryptopia hack and theft of cryptocurrency is progressing well and is advancing on several fronts.  The focus is on identifying those behind this offending and retrieving the stolen cryptocurrency.

This is a complex investigation involving the theft of cryptocurrency, in an unregulated environment.  The stolencryptocurrency is being actively tracked by the Police and specialists worldwide due to the nature of the cryptocurrency blockchains being publicly available.

Excellent progress is being made in the investigation and we are working with Cryptopia management, current and ex-employees who have been providing valuable assistance in this part of the investigation.  We are working closely with our international partners and cybercrime experts to continue the investigation.

Cryptopia’s managers are on site at their Christchurch address and police are expected to finish at the premises by the end of next week (15/2/19). This investigation is expected to take a considerableamount of time to resolve due to the complexity of the cyber environment."

The wallet on yobit is in maintenance, they are probably upgrading to the new version. Maybe Dev can confirm that.

David Ruscoe and Russell Moore from Grant Thornton New Zealand were yesterday appointed liquidators of Cryptopia

Despite the efforts of management to reduce cost and return the business to profitability, it was decided the appointment of liquidators was, in the best interests of customers, staff and other stakeholders.

The liquidators are focused on securing the assets for the benefit of all stakeholders. While this process and investigations take place, trading on the exchange is suspended.

“Given the complexities involved we expect the investigation to take months rather than weeks.”

The liquidators are also working with independent experts and the relevant authorities with regards to the company’s obligations.

Grant Thornton will be contacting all customers and suppliers about its appointment in the next few days.
