A little lower, I read the topic of what people think about bitcoin for $ 20,000, after which time it will reach these heights again. But it became interesting, is there anyone here who believes that bitcoin by the end of 2018 will be $ 40000 or more?

is likely to exceed that price because this is just the beginning of the year alone the development of digital currency is greatly increased and many people want to learn what digital currencies like bitcoin and altcoin, so do not sell the bitcoin you have and hold it until the end of 2018 and you will surprised at the price.

That the bitcoin price is yet to hit the $20k mark doesn't mean it won't eventually do so.
Its the beginning of the year yet and more is yet to come.

i don't think bitcoin up to $40000

In the last few years bitcoin achieved prices that people didn't believe it was possible or dream of, that being said, it's completely  acceptable to think that bitcoin will once again surprise us and jump to some new all time highs during 2018, specially if you consider all this recent hype around cryptocurrency, more and more people start jumping in on the crypto boat.

In the end of 2018, I expect Lightning network should have been implemented so I believe it will boost Bitcoin popularity once again. We can see now Bitcoin scalability problem is getting a lot of attention from the mainstream, and it's bad because it's a negative sentiment, I believe Bitcoin will start to get a lot of attention once the problem is solved.

its more likely hard to predict that bitcoin price will cross or pass over $40k at the end of 2018, many of us bitcoin holders/users/owners are hoping that price hike and I hope so it will happen soon, but for me in my own opinion the $40k is hard to reach before year end (2018), as you can see, the price of bitcoin now is constantly like a turtle and its hard to get back from its all time price hike of $20k, the volatility is extremely hard to predict, im sure it will soon to reach/cross that $40k but don't know when.

There may be a short-term sprint, more than 4000 dollars, but I think the price of bitcoin will stabilize at 30000 dollars this year, and there will be lots of tokens this year.

I think we might see it go down this year and not return to the value we see today for another few years. That's the pattern Bitcoin has done in previous years anyway.

I doubt that it will hit even $30k. It will jumping up & down from $12k to $25k over a year I think. Let's be honest, Bitcoin's gold days are over. 2018 will be a year of altcoins that are already rocking the cryptoworld.

I personally think $50,000 is the end point, to $50,000, and then the price will collapse, and that's the bear market.

It will be interesting to see where the BTC goes. Anything below $35000 is possible to reach.

I really think that value will be much more.
Expecting a stratosferic value.
But in the near moment, i expect a down... between 5k to 8k.
That´s my vision, and what i´m betting on.

this year is going to be even more interesting that last year to be sure. and there are a lot of critical crossroads ahead of us that if we choose correctly it can change the course of bitcoin's future a lot.

the more i learn about lightning network the more i like it and with it i do believe bitcoin can reach a lot more adoption and higher highs. there will come a time this year where $40,000 is in the rear mirror just like the way we got past $2000 and $4000 despite some thinking it will be the top price.

It can reach 40k this year. Who knows anything is possible for bitcoin only if lightning network will be released as early as they can. If LN doesn't release early, maybe the time will come that investors will never invest anymore in bitcoin and invest in other coins.

My prediction is - 30k , not more , maybe it will even stay at 20k. Somehow I lost belief in bitcoin.

The target of $40,000 is hard for Bitcoin to achieve but not impossible. Seeing the growth last year it is easy for Bitcoin to achieve $40,000 but at the same time seeing the increase in fees and confirmation delay it is tough to say whether BTC will see such a huge spike this year. Apart from that  it took BTC 9 years to reach $19000 (the ATH of BTC) and so it is really tough to say whether it will increase $21000 more in price just in 1 year.
I bet on $30k by the end of the year.

The crypto landscape is changing dramatically these last few weeks and we are seeing other digital currencies really grow up with new technologies like Cardano and Eos and we saw Ripple and Ethereum also take off while Bitcoin price is stable to slowly declining at the current time. Bitcoin though might go up double or treble in price by the end of 2018 but now coins are also paired against NEO AND ETH as well as new blockchains like ARDOR, STELLAR AND STRATIS coming, so we never know what will happen next.

The growth rate of bitcoin at the end of 2017 is quite slow. I think $ 30000 is the price of 2018. But nothing is impossible that the bitcoin will be worth $ 50,000 or more. Bitcoins are becoming more and more popular worldwide and there are a lot of investors investing in bitcoins.

It is hard to tell if bitcoin can reach that value since it cannot break its value now ranging from 14k $ to 16K$. If it can jump up over 20k$ then we can expect that by December the price of bitcoin could really skyrocket to 40k$ or more. But the conditions were not met as of this January so let us wait for February so we can make a good prediction as to what value will bitcoin hit by December of 2018.

I will be fluctuating between $15k and $20k in 2018 I think. Bitcoin is becoming the true digital gold. Like regular gold it won't be traded too often, will be more like an asset and its price will be more stable. So, more and more people will hold it and the price won't be jumping up & down too often.

The current situation, the price of BTC by the end of 2018 can be maintained at 20,000 US dollars is not bad, and now there are a lot of competitive currency, diluting the current pool of funds, so now look at the risk of BTC is still there, pay attention to investment risks. Do not blind faith!

i think sometimes bitcoin will hit the $40000.. because of according to the chart of bitcoin in last two or three months, it can be happen.But it cannot say exately..

i don't see the 100% growth  (to 40k $) by the end of the year. it's true, 2018 just begun and it's premature to talk about prices but i don't think bitcoin will double it's value

From previous years study on bitcoins proves that there are chances for the bitcoins price to surge above $ 40000 or even more than that which is for the good of investors and bitcoin users, so this is a good time to buy some bitcoins as this is a million dollar market place where you can be millionaires of tomorrow,  if you find time to invest in the bitcoin network now it will help to earn more returns on your investment.

I think bitcoin will exceed $ 40000 by the end of 2018. The effect of a high price year 2017 makes a lot of people competing for bitcoin, it will increase bitcoin demand and the price will definitely increase.

There is a big possibility to reach that price in the end of 2018 40,000$. Well prediction on the end of 2018 but not totally relying on that to happen. I think there is a bad effect if the price of btc will reach  on that level. Some of the buyer will hesitant to buy a btc anymore and find some altcoin.
It cause and avalanche of price drop which bad for the btc holder. Market is always work on the supply and demand if the supply exceed much on the demand there would be a drastic drop of price.

I remember the time i started to know bitcoin, that was january 2017. The value is $1000 more or less, i saw the ups and downs, but it never came to my knowledge the increased of bitcoin value by the last quarter of 2017. This 2018, i think we can not really say what bitcoin can reach, but i think $40k is not impossible.

Have seen so many threads about prediction of bitcoin's price this year. We all just end up predicting base on what others say or what we see on the graph but none of us really know what the future lies for bitcoin's price. Bitcoin seems so stagnant at 15,000$-17,000$ for several days now that if it will continue for couple of months, then 40,000$ is impossible to reach.

Why not. Bitcoin is having all the possibilities to gain the market cap in the year 2018 and show us the dream prices of 40K or more. This is juts double of what we are seeing today. The rates could be achievable because in this year number of followers of the crypto currency and specially the bitcoin will increase to double and thus the followed investments too. Also there is one positive and indirect approach of investors now days who are coming from the alt coins side. I mean as we see the alts are growing fast and people are getting into it, some portion of this is also shared with the BTC indirectly and thus we see the good leaps in the bitcoin market too. So yeah this is perfect year to grow in double and the easiness of which will come through the contained development of the bitcoin.

believe it or not it would be a hope for everyone who already has bitcoin, because if you look to a few years ago bitcoin prices continue to rise and may also occur this year.

I think that BTC price will be up to 30k $ per 1 BTC. Of course, in case of total criptocurrency capitalization with 1500 billions $ and more it could be up to 40 k $.

The height that bitcoin would reach in the near future can still not be ascertained, as there is no certainty regarding speculations made by groups and individuals. But one thing I believe is that bitcoin will still keep appreciating, regardless, the up and down movement.

Maybe yes, i think bitcoin will surpass the price on 2017 through at the end of these year. How ever it will be little harder to rich.

My conclusion is this, to earn money and invest more quickly in the Crypto currency. Since at the moment this is a real opportunity to increase revenues, yes you can lose, but the forecasts and practice of friends say about the increase in income ::)

I do not think the price of bitcoin will increase to $ 40k. Bitcoin has thrived in a short time, then its price has dropped by nearly 50% in just one week. The price of bitcoin is not stable, I think the price of it will continue to decrease.

I think it can reach $20k soon but reach $40k is too difficult because it is too high i think.
Bitcoin is still powerfull to grow but i think a the end of 2018 bitcoin just hit $30k maximum.

I think anything and mostly everything is possible in the cryptocurrency market. Therefore, there is always a possibility for bitcoin to reach that said amount. However, for that to happen, there are so many different factors that need to align because a 40k dollars mark is such a big leap from where it is now. We should take it mind that it took roughly a decade from onset up to the current state before bitcoin reached the amount it's in now. There were so many ups and downs, and even if most of the time, bitcoin only shows its numerous increases over the last few years, there are still hurdles that it should be able to overcome before another growth  and value spurt happens. I guess, be positive, but be realistic as well.

I believe if bitcoin maintains the current steady rise in its price, I not only think but also believe bitcoin will surpass $40000 by the end of 2018.

Well, I think the bitcoin price is going grow even higher reaching up to $60,000 by the end of the year. There is still high demand of bitcoin in the market that is why I think many people will be buying bitcoin in the future. I agree... partially. If Bitcoin will resume its uptrend, then it may well exceed this price. But if it should ever enter a bear market - as it already did many times in the past - well, then you could take off a zero from your predicted number...

Nowadays,  when whole countrys think about launching a cryptocurrency, bitcoin will rise further. In most cases you need a trading pair to invest in other coins or tokens and bitcoin will be the leading trading pair followed by Ethereum.

Let's all wait for  that moment. We are all hoping for the best  future of bitcoin.  Let us wait for the price increase of bitcoin.

Is it impossible for Bitcoin? No it is not. If the LN comes this year then the price will reach the 40k without any problem, otherwise I think the price will be around 30k$

Yes, it's not impossible, looking back at the humble beginning of the Bitcoin and how it grows in a fast-pacing scheme will make this prediction true, we could not tell the exact price when that time arrives but it would surely touch that price.

I am gonna say yes it will hit 40k but I am not terribly bullish about where it will land above that nor does it matter to me at the moment. I think bitcoin will do what it will in due time, and there is no need to rush it.

Everything is possible inside crypto, we all speculate that the price will jumped high to 20K $ before the year ends and things happen, so if another speculation I think it can happen and we all be crazy again seeing how the value jump better to buy and save while we are still capable to invest with

Well there is nothing wrong with hope. If we will just continue to support bitcoin and ignore fake news that is trying to destroy its strong reputation. It will happen, yeah it will happen. I don't know bitcoin is very kind to us. Every time we guess the price of bitcoin in the future it will surely happen. Who know it's just coincidence or maybe bitcoin price is worth to getting it. But for this time I have a reason if bitcoin price will reach $40000 because i hear some issue bitcoin will launch a lighting network that serves to speed up a transaction. What we know the weakness of bitcoin is the slowness to complete a transaction, which is only able to complete 7 transactions in 1 second.

40000 is nothing do you mean that our great BTC will just double itself throughout the whole year? Its worth much more I think we can easily expect a 100000 this year if everything goes in favour. But make sure you earn a lot of btc before it takes the big leap. but don't be afraid with these marginal market dips as these are just a passing by dips.

I just don't see it, I think what is needy, what will be healthy, is if BTC finds its feet and builds a STRONG base.

The truth is no one can really say what BTC value is going to be before the end of this year. We had a huge one last year and I just have the feelings this year may not have much and alts are really going to be the ones having a good time this year. However, we still have the LN on board and the announcement of that may cause some epic move upward. I did not expect bitcoin to get up to even $10,000 last year, let alone above $19k and even far more in some exchanges, so I would not rule out any possibilities.

The future of BTC's price is truly unpredictable, what I believe is that it has the potential to become the future of money due to its remarkable technology which I hope to be developed further and be fixed of its flaws.

It's really unpredictable for now.Because bitcoin price is on ups and down right now.So we can't be sure what will happen in the end of the 2018.But I think no matter what happens bitcoin price will be pumping up on 2018.And it's a great opportunity for bitcoin holder to make btc double.My predictions is bitcoin price will hit $30000 on the end of 2018.But I can't be sure because there are a lot of things which I dont know.But I want bitcoin hit atleast 30K on 2018 and make my investment double.

Predicting the price of BTC is, as history would suggest, quite difficult. The network congestion and the resulting high transaction fees will, until these problems can be resolved, likely hamper growth.

Hopefully, segwit adoption will increase, thereby reducing the effective block size, increasing throughput and alleviating the aforementioned problems. As this happens, I think we will see a bit of growth in Q1 and Q2.

Possibly, the highly anticipated Lightning Network will also be deployed, allowing for very cheap and fast transactions. If this happens, say in Q3 or Q4, I think there will be a lot of growth.

Based on this, I will say that anything between 20k and 40k is possible at the end of the year.

Yeah, In my opinion it's possible. Many people are very pesymistic about BitCoin but i think it still have the big potential to grow even more :)

It is always good to have an optimistic view about the price keeping on increasing ,but you have to be realistic about the price and the growth you are envisioning ,we saw a big leap in price in a short period of time and never expect to have those kind of rally every year,to be frank it is really difficult to replicate the year we had ,expecting a rally when lightening network is implemented.

i also thinking same way if bitcoin reached 40000 usd, i well be too happy to see that kind of value in bitcoin and some predictions are going about that so i am sure bitcoin will reach 40k mark at end of 2018.

This year there will be other coins that are worth it but I think people will prefer BTC.

Well my bet with the current trajectory maybe 60-80K, but if we have Lighting Network, 120K!!! about the dominance thought, I think we will be around 20% with all these alt coins coming out...

It's really hard to make a prediction of the Bitcoin's future price, as far as I remember, rapid increase of the price in the December 2017 wasn't predicted by someone. Who had thoughts, that BTC will hit 20,000 USD?

$40000 is really a large value but bitcoin can surely reach this value as it has a very fast growth rate and is already reached $19000 max until this proofs that bitcoin can grow very high is just some time. I think that investing in bitcoin now can make you rich in the future.

I think it'll be more like 70,000$ I predict a massive rally to all time highs we didn't even imagine. BTC is starting to go mainstream.

This will surely be a telling year.  With as much media hype crypto has been getting, and the more regulations coming down the pipe, should be an interesting year indeed.

Theoretically it could be possible for bitcoin to reach 40K by the end of this year. When the issues that are slowing down bitcoin are solved, the price could rise eventually. But this high amount is harder to reach than 20K. So, it will be hard to grow that fast. A slow growth to 30K at the end of 2018 is more likely to be the max for bitcoin.

Unfortunately, these beginning of the year predictions are usually wrong.  Too many variables and we end up looking back and seeing how silly they were  ;D

For example $10,000 was the highest price I ever saw wondered about for Bitcoin in 2017. Don't even know what was predicted at the beginning of 2016.

Maybe it will be $100,000 per BTC.

We can't really predict what will happen in this year. I'm rooting for Bitcoin and I can't wait to see it surpassing $100k. I think that price will surge after successful deploy of the Lightning Network which works fairly good. I have also heard that McDonald's may start accepting Bitcoin this year. It would be something interesting.

Hello author! You know it can be more then 50.000$ but I don't sure this is super good for all people! Who will buy it for such high price? Many people will invest in this and I think no without people who will loose a lots of money. A lot people will win a lot of money and a lot of people will lost a lot of money no matter what the price currently or in the future! Hope a lot of us will be happy this year)

Well, the way i see it, i really do think that bitcoin will be able to reach that price. If you look at the history of bitcoin, you will really see that it has such great chance to do that. Just think about it, who would've thought that the price of btc last year would reach that high in such a short period of time? Bitcoin has already proven to be unpredictable. So i think we can expect a lot of records set and broken by bitcoin this year.

It already reached 20k or something. In 2017 Bitcoin grow was much larger than x2.
In 2018 I expect much more than x2. Yes that would be more than 100k.

your thinking is very open and directly assumes whether bitcoin can reach that number in 2018, I think it is not impossible but bitcoin has increased not according to what we want so it would be hard enough to reach that number

$20k is very probable. $30k, improbable. $40k is impossible this year. If you believe this will happen I say you do the math and learn how much fiat would have to come to the market to double our current price, and then double it again. Yes, the theory of exponential growth. What you're forgetting about is that with each x2 you need to x2 the fiat that was needed for the previous jump ;)

I'm inclined to agree. $40k seems absurdly high, but big moneys just now jumping in, so we'll see. I think Bitcoin is the one crypto that corporations can use as an investment without getting too much flack from their shareholders. However, the altcoins have actual utility and may end up taking the majority of the crypto market share because businesses tend to prefer functionality over tied up money if given an option

How much segwit is supposed to accelerate transfers/sec? And how much does lightning network add? I think bitcoin is in very bad spot currently. Competition has surpassed bitcoin with their easy usage and reasonable transfer time/cost. I think bitcoin might start to decline compared to alternative coins, if these implementations wont deliver enough. These things must be delivered in a quite rapid schedule or companies will start to stop using bitcoins. Anyway this will be a very interesting year.

The price of the bitcoin as of now is $15,000 and for shre it will increase again because last few hours ago the price decrease but it will increase again and that's good to us.  I think possible the price become $20,000 again in this month so if you want to buy you cn buy more bitcoin and hold it to make a lot of profit. More bitcoin more money to come so dont sell your bitcoin.  For me $40,000 that's also I think because I see the potential to increase more the price of the bitcoin.  All we need is unity to see the price become that price.  Better if you keep buying bitcoin and keep holding because everyone will benefits to this.  But we don't know what really happen to bitcoin because they have possibility the price decrease.

There will be many interesting things this year. The banks and government have to do something, they will be aggressive, or starting to accept bitcoin. Is they are more aggressive, anonymous cryptos like Zcash, Deep Onion, Verge, Monero will spike. Actually the price for bitcoins is much higher these 2 years. From the year 2016, bitcoins started gaining importance in the lives of each investor and the demand than started rising which gradually is rising the price. For my taste this is to optimistic prediction, maybe we need to lover this a little. However everyone have right to predict price for upcoming period and hopefully this or some other prediction here might be the right ones. Still for bitcoin price to increase by 25k per year is little to big for me maybe 5k instead of this might be reasonable but again we saw that last year price went almost 20k in price over the year so technically anything is possible.

You can have high hopes or not that doesn't change anything. My predictions about bitcoin price was always lower, and final outcome proved many times how much I underestimated bitcoin price.
