At the moment I prefer Bitcoin, but I am looking for an alternative. Can anyone suggest me some alternative cryptocurrencies except Bitcoin ?!

Ofcourse bitcoin for me because it is the most volatile in most of the crypto currencies right now. but i am also looking in ethereum , im holding some of this tokens. that 2 crypto currency will have a big potential in increasing in the future.

Well you should study crypto currency each blockchain in that you can consider a coin will be to the moon, and I think that you should not only focus on one or two coin for long term investment, I suggest ethereum, xrp this next coin after bitcoin has the capability to make it's value more higher in just a matter of time, but all in all you should do it wisely and firmly.

Yes, I agree with what you've said. In order to gain more profits, don't just focus in only one cryptocurrency but be a flexible to all. Knowing blockchain technology of every coin that you will want to invest will help you to assure that your investment is in safe place.
Well, bitcoin is the most popular cryptocurrency but there are lots of altcoin that has potential like eth, ripple and verge.

I prefer the CryptoNite (or CryptoNite-Lite) based ones. Currently mining AEONs and Intense Coins.

Bitcoin is sadly out of my reach. It's too expensive already for me to buy and for my hardware to mine, so experimenting with some alternative coins is the only way to go.  I do have generated myself a Bitcoin address, of course... just in case... some day!   ::)

For me I still prefer bitcoin since it is more profitable but if you want other alternatives, I think next to bitcoin is Etherium or bitcoin cash. They also have future since many investor are also interested on it.

I prefer bitcoin and ethereum as these both could gain profit if we invest and hold for long term. Yes I agree with others diversify always your investment. If you are observing the market these both are really profitable its value. Also, there are a lot of coins that has a potential to become huge and grab the chance to earned.

If you are looking for the alternative option for bitcoin,then ETH and XMR is best options available for you because these coins price are very stable over the past days when compared to other crypto currencies.Now ethereum price started to move so we can expect more bumps from these coin.Monero is also one of the best crypto and fully anonymous like bitcoin but it is currently undervalued but in future it will get expensive.
LTC also a good option if you can not afford to invest on bitcoins but these investments need to be in long term to make enough profits.

I also do not like bitcoin because its price is too high and the development is big and there is no stability. Prices are always whale-driven we can not do anything just accept this.

A good alternative would be Ripple, Bitcoin Cash or etherum. All are slowly growing and becoming more valuable. Ripples current price makes it very affordable to invest in huge amounts currently. Btc is good for quick profits as the change in value is staggering.

I prefer ethereum and BTC

Well, after bitcoin I have invested in few altcoins that tend to provide more profit from time to time such as Ethereum, IOTA, Dash, Cardano, and Ripple. It is not bad to invest in few altcoins when you have the money to do so because even when the market is going down some of your altcoins would be growing instead of declining.

I'm very fond of Bitcoin, there are a lot of people who feel that the Bitcoin currency will rise in the future and I believe Bitcoin will still keep its price in the market and be an investment. best for investors...

I use litecoin and ethereum as my alternatives in making a transaction. I choose these two because they're the ones that are widely accepted by some websites that I visit other than bitcoin. If you want a coin that has a stable price floor I suggest to go for tether.

I used to prefer ethereum instead of bitcoin, but at the moment, ethereum is probably slow as bitcoin is right now, and that makes me sick. I prefer to use litecoin, or just dogecoin, they are fast, cheap, and they do not have high fees.

Theres no doubt on that which Bitcoin would really be always prefer but those words are just good back in the past on where tx fee and fast confirmations are still fine but now on the current situation those things will really put us already on hesitation considering on the price as of now.Its not really worth to spend on but still bitcoin would be good for long term profits.Seeking out altcoins isnt bad since there are lots to be used when it comes to transferring funds.

for today I prefer only the etherium. Although in reality I have some Bitcoin that I left on an extreme case, in case all of the same I see the huge value of the Bitcoin price this year. At least all the tokens that I earned on the company's signature, I consider promising and I will not sell them either.

I like bitcoin but at the time of writing I prefer privacy coins over bitcoin. This isn't to do anything malcious but rather I prefer not having anybody know how or when I spend my money and I think this is how it should be regardless of what you are buying.

I personally prefer ethereum. But if you want to invest on coin, you can choose some different coin that have very potential. You can go for ripple and it is also good coin till now. On the other side you can choice TRX, DASH, Waves. They have good future.

If I was investing in alts, I would look for a good alt that hasn't moved for a few months. Alts have a tendency to remain relatively stable for a period of months, before being pumped & seeing massive gains. The timing can coincide with bitcoin price gains, or it can be independent of btc price movement. I think that trend holds true for all altcoins.

I think alts are more buy and hold over the long term, than they are speculative. Alts aren't good options for daytrading imo. They also can't sustain much in terms of selling volume, before their price declines.

The ideal scenario with alts is buying in and HODL'ing before pumps or positive news. There isn't much to differentiate one alt from another. I think they're all much more similar than they claim.

We got a lot of crypto to invest now, but to be safe, invest in top 5 coins in the marketcap, Eth seems a perfect choice if you are looking for alt, it is used for many ICO project, so it's a strong coin, xrp also got the great news that it will be backup by big companies, ltc is also a good coin, mostly ltc is used for the transaction that require speed  and ltc also one of the  oldest coin, that are the 3 alt coin that I invest, but don't just follow me or other people's suggestions, do your own research and make your choice by yourself

This is a bitcoin forum. So I expect that most of us are here because of bitcoin. It's been the most popular crypto so far and the first to really took off. There's no doubt that bitcoin will remain the dominant coin in the next decade. But as far as altcoins is concern, they are also making a headway around November last year and still continue to grow at dramatic level. The best altcoin that I can only suggest is Ethereum. Initially this coin is just another pump and dump, but it looks like smart contracts technology is now gaining grounds to other markets specially banking systems. Seems that the financial industry is looking at alternatives now to improved their old and traditional system. And Ethereum is one coin on their radar that's why the price is above $1000 today. As for Ripple, there have been talks that it will be take over, however, the market has experienced some sort of correction and now below $100B market capitalization. And there are a lot opposing this coins because of its being pre-mined and very centralized. So I also prefer Ethereum and I suggest you do look at this coin at a long term investment as well.

First let me ask you, what's your goal? Investment? If you're looking for an alternative investment for Bitcoin(BTC) I would suggest to you that you should invest into Ethereum(ETH) is the 2nd to Bitcoin when it comes to stability and value (I think) Since then the Ethereum has been 2nd to Bitcoin and I've seen how this coin grows and I've seen also it's stability unlike other coins that pumps suddenly they dumps fast but in Ethereum you can see it's stability just like bitcoin and even sometimes if it drops value it will increase it's value gradually until it recover it's lost and will surpass it's last highest peak.

I like BCH or BCC. we all know bitcoincash was created on 1 August 2017 during the process of hardfork butcoin, alalsan I like BCH that is because its consistent upgrading due to upgrade of bitcoin this thing that make the price consistent, keep from transaction speed, dalah bitcoinash transaction faster than bitcoin or altcoin lainya from the better security side of bitcoin, although basically the security level adopted by blockhain is safe, just as the bitcoincash era is updated and the look and feature is more interesting

Anyone thinking of investing in Bitcoin or another cryptocurrency should be very careful.

I have my mind on three cryptocurrencies apart from Bitcoin. The first is Ethereum, and I’m already sure that most of us here are into Ethereum and has seen how much it has achieved. Ethereum's current price rate is above $1000. My next option would be Litecoin.

Lots of investors has been moving to Litecoin and huge profit comes from it. Litecoin is people’s choice this time. Lastly, another crypto would be Ripple.

Right now Bitcoin is king but there are some other cryptocurrencies that have some better features and are faster and cheaper.

I think we could see good profit from coins like Iota, Cardano, Eos, and Neo. These are in or near the top ten in market cap but still have room to grow.

Being new to this cryptocurrency world, I would prefer first with bitcoin since it has been operating for 8 years and as per history record it has surged its market price value to a greater heights. Also, bitcoin is the most recognized and promising among the rest of the cryptocurrencies which encourages many people to do their investments and earn a favorable return.

Probably all the same my preferred crypto currency is bitcoin, this is the best choice for me. And not only for me, many more people are interested in bitcoin.

For me i still prefer bitcoin as the best of cryptocurrency next is ethereum. Both are obviously preferred coins today as they constantly holding an impressive performance. These two coins consistently stable inspite of some downfalls at times. I can say that an investment to these coins are worthy enough. But it is for you to find out so you can choose your own preferred coin.

I suggest you to try ETH coins, besides the hefty price, ETH is the best coin after bitcoin.

Aside from bitcoin, I think prefer Ethereum because its price now is also increases and I think it has a potential to grow and more popular than any other alts. But ofcourse bitcoin is still the best and now is best time to invest while the price is not that high.

I think for this time ethereum has the good price. You will get many more profits. For this time bitcoin has the bad price, but I believe that it will rising again :)

It is best if you are going to take time to analyze alternative cryptocurrency or altcoins before you decide to take a part to have an investment or trading a part of it. Well, there are so many altercoins but not all are good. You may find good ones which are already established like Ethereum, ADA, and IOTA, while some are still upcoming through ICOs. For many years I preferred bitcoin, but recently I prefer to make profits with the help of altcoins. One altcoin can give in a few months as much as 5 years could not give bitcoin. I earned a good salary with Ripple and I plan to invest the bulk of the money in it.

If you want to find an alternative coin, you better look for it in thread alternate cryptocurrency. There you will find many alternative coin, such as etherum, lite, doge, dash, and many more.

And what exactly should they do with it? We all know that in future bitcoin is going to be big. Currently there is a lot of FUD news trying to move the market in a negative manner and thus the current conditions. Also people are buying different altcoins for future holding.

I am not good at trading and that I know that trading will not help me earn some good money. same here it's because bitcoin is the king of all crypto currency, Bitcoin is better known than other crypto currency because most signature campaigns bitcoin they give as a salary to the participants so i prefer bitcoin to all who want to suggest about which crypto is good to buy.

The most likely answer will be Bitcoin of course because for me no matter how many altcoins you will keep still it will be traded to bitcoin for fiat and that will makes Bitcoin become more strong but if you really want an alternative then it shall be the Ethereum because it was the most trusted platform by most ICO to support their projects.

For the investment purpose, i still prefer bitcoins as i strongly believe that only bitcoins can provide us more profit in the long run. Well as mate said that BTC is my best choice just like that maximum users of crypto have same choice including me while other choice is some different like i will prefer my second choice to ethereum and then waves and then lite coins.

for me i prefer to invest on altcoin for now cause bitcoin is always fluctuating and i have doubts the price will not increase on this month so much better to covert all your bitcoin and invest on alt cause the growth rate of alts is growing maybe this is good to gain more profits while waiting for the recovery of bitcoin.

I like Bitcoin but then I don't like bitcoin. Mainly because it costs so much to transfer any bitcoin to another wallet or exchange. I personally prefer litecoin. Etherium and NEO are pretty awesome though to because it seems you can build on it. Also I suggest  getting some privacy coins. Diversify just in case  if you don't want to put all of your eggs in one basket.

And we are seeing the increase of Ethereum this year. Ever since bitcoin is in the mud trying to get up Ethereum is having a good ride in the first month of 2018. I think we can see more in the next months but I don't see Ethereum getting over bitcoin. Bitcoin will be also having it's chance in the next months,I think this is just a time for Ethereum.

Whichever coin that we more prefer, surely we have each prediction and have a different minds, just don't pick the coins that looks less promising on its future and less proven.. that coins does not appears have a strong potential prices and less desirable.

Its not about that. The OP is asking us whether there is any other alts that we can suggest to him if its worth inserting into it. Anyway, for the OP I would suggest to look forward into ETH investment because its being traded at highest market depth currently. There are many reasons for this,  looking at the current bitcoin  which is slower and costlier to use people are switching to second most trusted currency like the ETH. This is leading to natural increase in the market depth and thus rates are ebbing pumped high. You will this currency trading at ATH @3000 USD in the month of March or near. Thats for sure and if you have to really invest other than BTC then thats the best choice for you.

Many cryptocurrencies are born and made by different people, it is highly organize by a geniuses people with high profile in this kind of businesses, but i really preferred only bitcoin, because bitcoin is in a good hand with a good management.

Alternative for bitcoin? I think it is better to keep on the top 10 top top 50 at coinmarketcap. If you ask me, I will prefer to ethereum, litecoin, ripple, stellar and monero this year. Absolutely you may choose your own alternative based on your own faith or your own researches. There are so many coins these days, makes people a little bit confuse to choose which ones would be the best coins to invest.

If you are HOLDER, you should buy top 20 coin, it will be safer just buy 1 or 2 coin. I prefer BTC, ETH, NEO, XRP, OMG, LTC.

i usually go for undervalued potential token which can give a good profit but i do not go for short term am busy with my stuff.day trading is a great thing when you a know little bit concept of trading.i would prefer waves,neo and stratis as they are much undervalued coin but have solid team and support.

If you are holder, you should buy and hold in top 50 marketcap.

Well, my most favorite cryptocurrency is Bitcoin, but apart from that, I will go with either Litecoin (70%) orEthereum (30%). Me too because i think they maybe the lowest it could after some time again. At least i am sure that the price would increase again even if it is after this month. I can suggest you NIMFAMONEY as this altcoin have so little number of coins in the market and will be a big hit, you can check ccoinmarketcap also you can review ATLANT and TELCOIN, for me, this 2 are very promising on their own fields,
Atlant will launch their app and real estate this 3rd month of the year while Telcoin is very active in the community to make their project works worldwide. this is just an opinion the best thing to do is to make a research and study the altcoin you want before jumping into it.

I divide into some special parts and still consider bitcoin as a favorite, I collect ethereum for transaction purposes and some other coins to be monitored periodically. Tron, bch, ripple, and omisego are still comfortable to collect, but all altcoins will not change my main choice for bitcoin.

now a days crypto has become pure hype similar to bubble,potential coin show slow growth but shit coin pumps unexpectedly.i always go for coin or token which have solid team and idea backing it up,what pace their are achieving the roadmap. eth,neo,waves,stratis,qtum,etc are good coin which has team backing the price.

It is not easy to mention only one cryptocurrency. I have several favorite alts. For example, I constantly deal with Ethereum and Ripple. Recently I started to buy Qtum. I believe that NEO and EOS in my wallet will give me good profit soon.

I will prefer the most best and high price currency called BTC. That is the most favorite and most high rate currency in all crypto and their price is varying with huge graph and small change in graph have great affect on price and trader will get very big chance of trading also and people are investing huge amount here and also earning huge money.

I am in the process of doing research on many cryptocurrencies and as of now I am confident about Bitcoin ethereum and xrp because I have studied the ideologies behind Bitcoin and these coins and I believe that Bitcoin has a scope for business transactions on the international level whereas eth will work as a medium for getting into the smart contracts on the international level again and XRP would be a kind of Bitcoin for banks.

i prefer to invest in eth than btc, because the price is not as high as btc, and eth coin are many used as ico unit, so i believe with high circulation will make eth price better. beside that bitcoin have high volatile, so i prefer like eth for investment

Its better to invest in cheaper altcoins for long term than for short term because you get to make more profits during longer term. Depends on what purpose you are using crypto. If I want to gift/tip someone, I usually use Dogecoin and sometime Litecoin. I use Bitcoin for hodling and purchasing products. I use ETH because I need it for trading erc-20 tokens. Find your purpose before deciding anything.

Like you can buy and afford easily when the price is low and can sell it at high price when the Bitcoin price increases. You would be able to get huge profit as you know that there comes a high and big difference between the fall and jump so it is cleared that Bitcoin will give you huge profit.

I'll go for Tron(Trx), Ada and Ptoy, they all give me profit that's why I'll still holding them and buy more when it dump. However as per your demand I would say there is no other currency which is as safe as bitcoin but you can look forward to invest into ETH, XEM, SCL, JNT and with few percentage left you can try out your luck on Tron and XVG. The last two are risky one but could be hype in the time to come. Second choice is ethereum since we can make good profits from it also. Both of them are good for investments but btc is more preferrable.

I bought neo when the price was around 0.004 and i sold my neo when the price reached 0.01 and more, that is one of my best trade in neo and i am looking for a cheap price for neo also. You cant track them all as there are thounsands of them and they keep creating even more so you should keep lokin for mor.

For me, i will prefer the most risky one and it's only a matter of timing and management for you to earn profit. Bitcoin for instance, gives you a big profit quickly if it will rise drastically but if you will just let your profit sit in your btc wallet for a long period of time, you may suffer a profit loss if bitcoin will also fall drastically. So sell when the price is high and buy when the price is low.

I  prefer Bitcoin most. And there are many reasons behind my choice. First ot all Bitcoin is the first crypto currency in the digital world and other crypto just copy it. For now, I am investing on ETH. I am adding a small amount of eth in my wallet every payday. For some reason, I feel that ETH will go up anytime and I will make sure that I will be there to sell when that happen. Those are very good points you make.  I want to offer a counter point in the most respectful manner. Its easy to assume that because bitcoin is the first and has dominated that it will always dominate.  But 10 years is a long time.  I remember when myspace was king of the world in the social media space, the first and the biggest on the block only to be knocked off later. Bitcoins disadvantages are well documented and the main one being the fact that its a public ledger and its blockchain contains all transactions from everyone. The proof of work concept is also a big expensive factor. So I predict that at some point there will be a coin possibly out of the 1500+ that exist or a new coin/blockchain that will dethrone bitcoin as the king.

Now lets talk Ethereum.   Ethereum has been awesome because it has been able to do things that BTC cannot, mainly execute smart contracts which caused an explosion in its ICOs being run through their ETH blockchain.  Here the same thing, using past performance to predict future results can dangerous.  Here is why.  First you can see that lately ETH has been hit harder than BTC. Why is that? Two reasons.  #1 is that ETH meteoric rise was fueled by ICOs.  Everyone doing an ICO on the blockchain had to buy Ether.  At 20 to 50 million dollars per ICO that is a lot of ETH. So this sent the price skyrocketing.  Lately though as the market as tanked very few ICOs are going off so the demand for ETH has tanked with it.  The second reason and this is the reason why ETH coming back strong is not a guarantee is that there are other competing blockchains out there and are coming on board that are significantly faster and cheaper than the ETH BC.  So competition is a major factor as future ICOs will be run on other blockchains and less ETH will be demanded as a result.  Which goes back to another weakness of Bitcoin. It has no utility or application beyond being able to trade it or make purchases with it.

You can actually look for altcoins which really has a good use case and investor catching project with working products. There are lots of innovative projects out there that has a really good potential in the long-run. You can just make your own research and find ICOs that suites your taste.

I was using bitcoin in past , but because of his price, I stopped using bitcoin (commission to high for small amounts), and because bitcoin stopped to be practical, I'm started using litecoins (LTC)  and Monero (XMR)  this two cryptocurrencies are fast, if we talking about confirmation time and enough anonym (Monero (XMR)), but problem, that not everyone accept them now.

Well, I would not suggest you going for any other crypto coin i.e. altcoins. They are the ones which are greater in number but less in performance. But as I see it, they are not as productive as bitcoin is, so don’t skip it.

Well i've been here for a while and already tried/owned a wide range of cryptos , Eth is by far the crypto i used the most as it was much easier to deal with and a rather stable coin that didn't get me through roller coasters of fluctuations , yet bitcoin was the one and only love since this thing made me gain a lot of potential , and even friendships !

Right now, I'm using dogecoins and LTC. Yes, I know that Dogecoin, was created as a joke. But because of the low price per coin (1 DOGE → 0.00000064 BTC) and fees around 3 - 5 dogecoins per transaction (around 192 sat - 320 sat). Bitcoin was always my first choice and it will stay so. For me it's the most reliable and the most profitable and also I can use it the best in the real world.

I'm also a fan of LTC and XRP, and hopefully XRP gets added to Coinbase soon.

I usually prefer platfom coins because these crypto have the potential to grow in the future. I also especially like coins that are not too large and have practical applications in life, which will help the coin to have a large support community and will help it grow in the long run.

At the moment i dont prefer any cryptocurrency. Why should i? I use them only for trading. So i dont use it to buy stuff and to pay. But when you are trading, you prefer the coins who are the most pumping up. BUt when you look at the market right now, you see theres no one going to the moon, so the market is pretty stable. SO thats why i not prefer any coin at the moment. Maybe it changes in some weeks. Or if we are lucky enough, bitcoin will start their bullrun again like last year ;D

Personally I prefer long-term investments. hat's why main part of my portfolio consists of Bitcoin (35%) and Ethereum (20%). With 10-15% of my money I trade for short term period. The rest of the money I invested in coins like IOTA, Bitcooin cash, Cardano, Tron, Stratis, OmiseGO, Sia coin, ICON and Zcash.

I use ethereum. there are too many altcoins. I do not trust the majority. so it is important to invest in a good time. waves and neo. I think these two currencies are important.

I'm a Bitcoin currency fanboy because there are so many people who invest in Bitcoin and get a profit, there are people saying that Bitcoin is slowly declining and that there is a risk of collapse in the future. As Bitcoin is still developing well despite the risks involved in investing.

I always suggest something like ethereum or maybe some other altcoin but recently i tried out ripple and saw it's price and past if you are looking hold for really long hold maybe like a year go for ripple that coin has fell over the past months but it's looking strong

Same goes for me I prefer bitcoin because it is the most safe one for the moment and plusbit is the most wanted cryptocurrency which means that it is the one that will make me more profit.

For me, bitcoin is still the best cryptocurrency that we can buy. The stability of the bitcoin is becoming more better and it is the reason why investors are keep buying and using bitcoins.

Just focus in bitcoin mate because in bitcoin the value itself is greater than the other altcoins even the price is highly volatile but in terms of profit bitcoin is more profitable than other. Don't panic if the price is dump in the long run the price will goes high and patience is your key to success.

Main BTC is the best as its the base of crypto world. Then NEO also very good for this year.. NEO based projects are daily increasing so its better to focus on NEO..
