Hi guys, BTC is going down again today.
I don´t hold any BTC because I don´t see future in this coin, but...
Always when BTC is going down so everyone else, do you think that in case of dramatic fall will every other crypto go down too?
And it brings me another question, when people sel their BTC, where the money goes? Do they make instant withdraws in USD and get out of the trade completely? Cos if BTC is going down some else should rise but whole market is on decrease.

We have seen some really big crashes back in the day. It didn't stop anything.
If Bitcoin crashes today it will pull down other ones. But everything will recover.
He did his purpose. Bitcoin made a path for all future crypocurrencies.

BTC is already down.  And if BTC crashes and stabilizes at low for long time,  all the altcoins may crash.  Coin is only BTC others are altcoins and no altcoin can survive without BTC

I think it will take down every other alt.
Because people are associating Bitcoin with crypto currencies. They will not give their money for alts if there isn't bitcoin.

I think you'd be able to feels its effects on other alts but with that being said, I think some other coin will eventually replace it. Sooner or later.

I don't think this is really a crash, the reason the price is low is because most people talk profit on friday for weekend, I don't see it talking the market down if it crash but note that when the rally starts you want to be holding BTC,

Well, maybe not a crash but you have to admit that around early January, btc and a lot of coins fell drastically.

It would bring down other coins because they are traded against each other, unless you trade in fiat / altcoin pairings if bitcoin goes down it will affect the value of the other coins traded against it.

Thats a good question. I really hope not. But every altcoin price is measured in bitcoin. So you see all altcoinds dumping when bitcoins dump. There are some exchanges which you can trade in eth or even ltc, but thats a very small part. I hope in future they find a new ways to measure the value of the coins who not depends on the bitcoin price. So altcoins were safe when bitcoin dumps oder crash.

In my opinion, when bitcoin is crashed, all other altcoins will be greatly affected, there may be some altcoins that will disappear in the electronic money market.
It can be said Bitcoin has created itself a strong electronic money market. So when Bitcoin crashed, all the altcoins would fall down because the king had collapsed. When bitcoin crashed, imagine it was like a country without a president or king. That country will become panic and will soon be lost.

so far each time bitcoin crashes, altcoins crash with it and most of them crash even harder because the panic in altcoins have always been more severe and there is no future for them so everyone panic sells not just newbies who didn't understand what was going on.

people trade altcoins to make profit on the bitcoin they already have. when bitcoin drops they remove their buy orders to take that bitcoin to bitcoin/usd market so they can sell and buy back at the bottom.

or they sell their altcoins because they know they are falling and they don't want to lose money. and also to have money ready to buy bitcoin with it at the bottom.

Maybe because they think that if BTC drop the whole crypto will fall that is why some altcoin holder are selling there coin and exchange to fiat or selling it to buy Bitcoin that might cause of pulling down altcoins prices.

Maybe the most coins are schocked when BTC is going down a little bit but this is okey for me, because the most stuff will start to go up when Bitcoi makes some strong moves again. It could take some time but it will be worth it to hold!

Actually the crypto market does not only involve BTC-USD and BTC-ALTS, trading platforms also included other currency. There's even a cryptocurrency called "Tether" which is meant to safe keep your money when the market is down so this does not really mean they are "withdrawing their funds" rather safekeeping it.

Yes , Because the Most of the Exchange websites Provides the Pair with BTC only , Initial when Bitcoin falls, the value of the other coins drops by the dollar value immediately . then other coin slowly Increases. So don't get panic when bitcoin drops , just hold ......

If bitcoin crash, altcoins will also affected because bitcoin rely in its value in dollars and not in altcoin. If the seller convert it to fiat, altcoin will crash unless they buy it with altcoin.

As the market matures, the utility tokens, dividend tokens and speculative coins should start to have a different behaviour. At the moment, all coins are paired with BTC in most exchanges and the stupid trading bots keep correlating even Ethereum to Bitcoin.

Correlation makes sense when two investments are near-substitutes, that is if one is to expensive, people would choose the other as a suitable alternative, just like in consumer goods, etc...

In my opinion there isn't one coin better than Bitcoin, altcoins are just copies of Bitcoin with no history.

You bet if Bitcoin goes down, 99% of alts will go down with it. Mainly because anyway they train mainly in Bitcoin pairs. Plus the world still knows crypto only as Bitcoin, and sees all alts as copies or immature technology or tokens, thanks to ICOs.

Of course, there are periods where Bitcoin drops while alts rise, this is when majority of people are buying alts with Bitcoin (this is why sometimes to go long on alts is to go short on BTC, and vice versa).

we all know bitcoin is the main factor that can effect the price of most of coins on the market, bitcoin plays an important role in definition of cryptocurrencies, so whenever hapen to the price of bitcoin then the entire market will be effected heavily, we usually see bitcoin price drops drastically everymonth that it takes along with the drops of almost every altcoins on the market.

Bitcoin is the coin that started altcoins so it does make some sense that the price will go with Bitcoin's movements.

For the past few weeks it seems that if the bitcoin price drops then almost all altcoin prices will come down, if I become you when bitcoin price drops it's time we buy for long-term investment because bitcoin is definitely more valuable than other coins.

I agree with your opinion. This will affect the market. But the market has a lot of coins. If bitcoin disappears, another coin will be king. Because now can not do without encryption technology.

Fortunately if bitcoin crash, it will drag the other coins down too. For the moment, bitcoin is very large and it is basically 35 % of all investments so definitely if bitcoin crash, the whole market will be hurt very bad for a long, long time... :(

This generation of Cryptocurrency are related with Bitcoin because the conversion of value are based on Bitcoin, therefore when Bitcoin drops most of the altcoins are dropping as well.
But I'm wondering, why is it the Cryptocurrency Exchanges are making conversion through Bitcoin and Ethereum and not by USD. In that case if Altcoins are covered straight by USD then if ever Bitcoin and Ethereum will crash - Altcoins will not be affected

If you don't trust bitcoin and to its future then why are you here? Bitcoins price do really move this way and don't expect if you would see a pump it would continue further. Price corrections should really be expected always. If people do cash out its either money is being circulated to alts or just purely cash out to fiat. If bitcoin would tend to dump its price I believe there are some alts which would really go into opposite direction because they do have their own market which doesn't fully correlated on bitcoin.

I really want to see that, independent price characteristic graphics of the coins on the market charts, but unfortunately it is nearly impossible. Every time bitcoin falls, in my opinion, traders making panic sells and making bad choices.

If bitcoin became obsolete it will be because other coins become bigger and better, so if bitcoin crashes it will effect the market but it wont be the end. This is just the beginning.

There's definitely a correlation but I think it depends largely on what the reason for the crash is. For example if there was an overarching government policy on cryptos/blockchain then yes it is likely that all coins will be affected. However if it were BTC specific then maybe not (although there will be knee-jerk reactions)

Most likely YES, since mid.2017 Alts and BTC correlated positive. in 2016 it was different but like I said since few Months if BTC fall, everything's falling as well.

There doesn't seem to be any other coin that is trying to outrank Bitcoin, they all use Bitcoin as a trading pair.

For me, if bitcoin dies, another altcoin which is going to be 100% regulated will take it's place, and with this, i mean that another altcoin coming from a government, instution or just from the major banks are going to replace it.

Bitcoin going down is normal after this southward movement, it will re bounce and go up north.The bitcoin owners selling off are those in profit already, The owners who are not in profit are still holding their coin because it will surely go up. BTC is the king of crypto, so yes, if btc crashes it does effect all the market, basically people start selling all there holdings in panic and cashout there investment in loss resulting in overall reduction in the market cap.

I did not understand why the BTC price did not go up. There's always a price close to $ 10,000. I have an investment in Bitcoin. If the Bitcoin price goes down, the price goes down in other digital currencies. Everyone's investment is lost.

Why would Bitcoin crash and die in the first place? There are many interesting projects out there but it is really difficult to guess which one would take most of the Bitcoin users. Ethereum was not designed for handling daily transactions which we could see when the cryptokitties were released. Other coins are base on value of a product or service been offered, so if BTC is going down it won't have any effect on other coins. Even if Bitcoins is found down, other coins will have to go up because traders will be withdrawing for a safe haven to put their money

When bitcoins crashes it affects the crypto currencies a lot but they recover fast.This drop was caused by recent correction of bitcoins as they increased very fast in small period of time.And as bitcoins drops it creates opportunity to buy bitcoins in cheaper rates so I think people might sell their other coins to invest in bitcoins.Altcoins also crashes as many people panic sell due to bitcoin drop.

Considering that most, if not all, alt coins were derived from BTC, it would probably follow that it takes down the value of other coins if it crashes. It's all a balancing act if you ask me. It would also be best to check trends/charts to see what happens to alt coins if BTC experiences a dip or surge.

I'm a true believer in the big coins, and soon they will provide many of the functions that altcoins provide. If btc crashes it won't die, I can't say the same for the majority of altcoins. Personally I think we have two years before the cull starts.

the whole story around cryptocurrency began with Bitcoin. So it is strange of the author to say he does't see any future of the coin. BTC is the God in this world, and the author is an atheist who goes to church just not to stand out of the crowd. The only reason the cryptocurrency market has been popular in the last few months is due to how huge bitcoin became and how its price skyrocketed over the last year, before that there was not as many people involved in this market like today, first the chances of bitcoin falling are low, because its price is way higher than any other cryptocurrency there is, so there will always be people investing in it, and if it does than it will defentily have a huge impact on the market, and we will defenitly see the prices of the other cryptocurrencies gow down as well, but sooner or later another one will start going up again and take the place of bitcoin.

Yes I think if bitcoin crash than it will take other with it, because bitcoin is the only coin in the cryptocurrency and other are only altcoin,without bitcoin other altcoin will not survive.

Im afraid the fact that BTC going down as you put it  - & takeing all the ALTS with it - does mean it has a future. I dont personally have a huge investment in BTC but it certainly has value... maybe not utiltity - however with the number of DEVs they have I would give it the respect it should deserve.

Btc is the foundation of all the cryptocurrencies the first of its kind,alts were based in its alogarithm but if the BTC has crashed morelikely most of the alts are going to follow its footstep especially the ones that has no working product/servives in real life.So i suggest stick with some solid alts you are believe BTC will decline in the future,but with the development of these new alts some will survive from the BTC's crash.

Not all altcoins will dump also, those altcoins with strong fundamentals will still go up. That's why it is suggestible you have always bitcoin on your portfolio atleast 20% - 50% so when the times right now comes almost of the coin are going down you can go shopping and it will give an easy profit.

yes maybe it will but that is not safe. there are different reasons why the market can fall or rise but at the moment there won't be a crash soon but nobody knows for sure, if a crash is a correction or otherwise... good night or day

I was also thinking same up till last month but somehow I have changed my point of view. Because even when btc was falling, there were some altcoins going higher. That made me think that even if btc crashes, there is still chance that solid coins can survive.

This is likely, because now the dominance of the market crypto all the same for bitcoin, so I think that if all the same we see such a bad event, then probably nothing good after this will not happen for another 5 years

I don't think that Bitcoin is going to crash because it has a solid developer's team and many fans since the start of this crypto world. Even if it crashes, this new era of cryptos and blockchain is to stay. Many of the alts will survive and new promising coins are going to come to continue what bitcoin and the others started. So I think you have not to worry much about it, just choose the alts you invest with care, and try to avoid the scams.

The bitcoin influences the other cryptocurrencies price, that's for sure. As it was said before, in the majority of the exchanges, trading is made in alts/btc. The inter currencies connection ends there.
What is happening in the crypto market is not the end of the world. There is no crash, just a price correction.
I think people are rushing to see bitcoin reaching 1 million and that can't happen within a year.
Altcoins will survive, and if not, other will come much better than the old ones.

I think that bitcoin will make market crash nearly irreversible. Yes there will of course be surviving coins but in the end we will see all markets return back to 2013-2014 year, and that will be too hard to fix.

Absolutely! the majority of altcoins follow BTC if you look at your blockfolio and then change value into BTC you can see that generally most coins during a dip reflect BTC drops and your holdings in BTC value generally stay roughly the same (yes this is dependent on size of your holdings but alt coins definitely follow BTC) Unless you are Ethrium, Neo or Waltonchain !

It is normal when bitcoin price crash due to many whale, manipulators, or even panic sellers dumps also the altcoin crash. Its because all of the price of te altcoins barely refer to btc price and ethereum price. Obviously when the price of the bitcoin crash, it doesnt mean that the price of the altcoin equivalent to bitcoin also crashes, but only the rate of that bitcoin price change. The price of the token per bitcoin price doesnt change only its value.

I think so, because most altcoin is part of BTC trading right.
So if the BTC falls significantly, people will lose confidence, and at this point, people will choose to sell rather than keep holding.

You are right, it is the reason why we all have to support bitcoin because if bitcoin is not doing well then all of the other coins in the market are definitely not doing well which is not good for us. Whatever happens to the price of bitcoin is what happens to the entire market. We need more money to be concentrated on bitcoin in order for it to go back up.

This is a tough one, or maybe not. I think  that Bitcoin is the pillar of cryptocurrrencies, and if it comes crashing, it will spell doom for the cryptocurrency industry, but I do not think that it would die still. Yes, it will greatly affect the industry, but after a while, these altcoins will bounce back, and learn to lean on themselves.

I also believe that if bitcoin crash, all other coins will follow, it affects the value of other coins because we all know that bitcoin is the leader of all coins and many investors are relying on bitcoin rather than other coins.

In my opinion, if the BTC unfortunately have trouble, then surely other coin will also inevitably this. Therefore, removing the influence from the BTC is the primary task that Altcoin is trying to implement. But that is too far. BTC will always be strong because the BTC itself is always improving its technology to fulfill its mission of becoming king in the electronic money market.

No one pray for Btc to crash but it happens, it will affect more than 95% altcoins on Coinmarketcap and I don't think the entire industry can survived without Bitcoin because BTCA represents the entire industry.

I have to agree with this. The way the market is built, it relies on Bitcoin as the main promoter. Altcoins don't matter in a situation where laws are being built around bitcoin and with bitcoin in mind. Many people who aren't very well informed see cryptocurrency market as Bitcoin and think that altcoins are just a clone of Bitcoin. If the oldest and most popular cryptocurrency would crash to very low levels you can be sure that some altcoins would cease to exist and the rest would lose 90% of value.

I am sure that all coins depend on Bitcoin and that this situation will never change. Because in the economy there must be a leader, and in cryptocurrency it is Bitcoin.

BTC being the major trading pair of most of the coins in the market will always have its effect on all tokens. Since tokens are mostly traded in terms of satoshis, so when BTC price in FIAT (USD/EUR) goes down, it makes satoshis value go down as well and eventually the price of other tokens as well.
On the other side, during the past few quarters we are seeing a lot many coins are also getting FIAT pairing on exchanges this will reduce the BTC impact on other tokens but it will take time.

I think that when people withdraw money, they first completely withdraw and store them either in Fiat money or cash, but then they go back to the game and invest in some coins. Cryptocurrencies are like a drug for many people.

Depending on the reason for its crash. If it's something that generally affects other cryptocurrencies it will definitely affect other coins but if it's bitcoin specific problem I doubt it will have major impact on other coins.

If bitcoin will crash then all coins also crash because this technology only bitcoin they supported towards a replacement of fiat in the future .All coins are depended in one market which is BTC as you look they are all on trend .

Some interesting thoughts on this forum. Suppose there was negative information about Bitcoin, there was a big panic, Bitcoin devalued, collapsed. Yes, for some time there will be confusion in the market. However, then everything will settle down and line up in a new system. Now each cryptocurrency is able to work independently.
