No, there's no reason for valentines day to influence btc. I find this an unecessary thread since the answer is quite obvious. Even if it did, the effect would be so small you wouldn't notice it in the middle of all these drops.

You should not generalize this. A lot of girls where I live know bitcoin and even have expressed some ideas to invest in a mining PC , life is becoming more and more difficult nowadays and every little bit of extra money helps be it cash or bitcoin. The media are warning everyday against bitcoin here but this have had an opposite effect, instead of running away because the media thinks bitcoin is a ponzi scheme more and more people are starting to buy , trade or build mining computers. Interest is in the highest level here. I am US citizen , living far away now and I am jealous of how this small country loves bitcoin so much. Many bitcoin holders here have girlfriends or fiances, and many are even married so your generalization is not correct. I am not going to tell which country this is as security is top concern in the bitcoin ecosystem.

yes, if all bitcoin owners sell more for valentine's day, I think it will affect the bitcoin price. when sales more than the purchase, then of course the bitcoin will fall further.
look at how late 2017 yesterday, Christmas and year-end holidays make bitcoin owners choose to sell bitcoin. so bitcoin falls and today it's hard to rise again.

Firstly the questions sounds silly to me, but then I think it probably not really. My guess is no. I dont think people need to take a huge amount of profit to buy presents for their boy/girlfriends. But it would be interesting to observe if it really going to happen.

I don't think it will have a major effect on Bitcoin as not all would be willing to sell some btc for fiat just to buy a gift and yes, not every holders have special ones whom they would exchange some of their btc for local money considering the red market now  ;D

I actually have a friend who after telling us that he'll sell some of his coins end up borrowing money instead because the value of btc and altcoins is in bloodbath now  ;D

Market pump?I don't think so since this is just a non major holiday where I cant see a reason why would be the price will be affected on it. As we all know price being affected due to supply and demand and occasions like these might be just an add up but not fully an indication that these would really affect price movements. For some occasion like news then its possible.

I think yes valentines day will affect bitcoin. Because many of use are going to be busy during that day. And that day the investor will be lessen because they are use their money at buying some flowers and chocolate for their love ones. And because they have some expenses they are going to encash some coin because they are out of budget. I had read that most of bitcoiner is millenials or at teenager stages so more possibilities that most bitcoiner will celebrate a heart's day. So the valentines's day will affect the bitcoin's price.

Well Valentine's Day probably will affect bitcoin price but I dont believe that it is going to be a mass effect. People need money to buy presents but why should they buy expensive presents to their girlfriends instead of holding. They can buy small gifts :)

Some big celebrations like Christmas and new year can affect bitcoin prices, but if valentines day I think less influential. As you say, it could happen if most bitcoin owners sell it to buy gifts. But, this is not as big as other celebrations, not everyone celebrates.

The only holidays that may have some effect on the crypto space are Christmas and New Year when people tend to have large expenses. Valentines day is pretty much a Halmark holiday at best so I am guessing zero effect.

Going back to OP's question, though, there's likely going to be no change to Bitcoin over Valentine's day since there is simply nothing that would move it in either direction or at least nothing substantial. Valentine's Day doesn't really affect Bitcoin in any significant manner since there's nothing significant about it for the market. No anniversaries, nothing is planned to happen on that day, there are no businesses that are trying to do something with Valentine's Day and Bitcoin in the same sentence, among other things. It wouldn't make sense otherwise.

I guess it affects bitcoin a little bit but not that too much because valentine's day is not that important holiday to celebrate. It may cause a little change of bitcoin price in the market but it will not have too much impact in its price.

I think yes, Valentine’s Day will affect Bitcoin. Because Before Valentine’s day, Some people are trying to cashout and sell some of their Bitcoins. And the demand is getting low. Like Chinese new year, Bitcoin has been decreases because China has a lot of Bitcoin users and earners. These Chinese sold some of their BTC in order for them to have money during the celebration. I remember making a topic a in 2016 (or probably just a year) back asking if Lunar New Year will affect Bitcoin or not. Many people replied with negative remarks (Bitcoin price will drop) but it actually turned out to be the opposite*. (maybe @marcuslong is referring to 2017 Lunar New Year - which I don't remember the market).

*I'm not a professional trader and I do not know if it was because of Lunar New Year or some other events that happened during that period.

Well, the valentines day is one of the most expensive occation in for the couple actually also to the student who are  having a partner. This can be affect of bitcoin because, a lot of investor is having a partner , so that many investor will cashout thier balance on thier wallet and the price of bitcoin will dump again.. I hope , who have a partner i want to suggest that dont withdraw all your money on your wallet you can do unmaterial thing to celebrate this valentines day..

In fact, I think there is a better way is to send girlfriends bitcoin on Valentine's Day, Christmas and other festivals, so as not to affect the price of bitcoin, but it may also be your girlfriend can not accept the virtual currency as a gift.

We just don't know because if we look back bitcoin's graph last Valentine's Day, the graph shows a normal and steady bitcoin price. But i am not saying that what happened last year's VD will repeat this year for bitcoin may rise or it may fall deeper.

I dont think Valentines day will affect the market and btc price. However, Chinese New year is only a few days away from Valentines day, and Chinese people take Chinese new year really seriously. Means mostly go on vacations and probably won't be trading much in those days, and that means probably taking out cash for such occassions. So let's see how this goes in the next few days.

Valentine's day is the most important occasions in our lif in a human world that's why I think  its will give highest effect in the market place of bitcoin because as a human we need money so that we need to converted our bitcoin to piat money.

It was possible. The BTC value are going down every time there's a Holiday, Celebration, or any Season around the world. Plus spreading of FUD on social media.

And this coming season, which other's called Holiday for lover's, many are withdrawing their crypto currencies to purchase something special for their love one.

I think it should not affect bitcoin. People who have bitcoin do not necessarily have a girlfriend, and girlfriends do not necessarily want to have Valentine's Day. As long as the heart, every day is Valentine's Day.

Bitcoins and valentines day has no connection.Valentines day is celebrated by everyone and not just women .It is a fact that women also involved in bitcoins these days as i have female friends who are involved in bitcoins from years they are great investors of btc and has got great fortune out of their investment when the price hit 20K it was like a jackpot for my female friends .In this forum all use nick name and their personal identity is not known so nobody can predict whether the percentage of women can even be higher than men in this forum.

Yes I agree with you even me as a girl has started already building up mining computers and I dont think this will affect the price of bitcoin just because of Valentines day. Not all are in a relationships are going to spend a luxurious and extravagant celebration for valentines rather they will choose to have a simple date atleast on this particular day they are happy together. I really think that events or holidays does have an impact towards Bitcoin growth. With Valentine's coming up, couples are busy with deciding how to surprise one another or how to give a perfect date for their special ones. This type of an event does require celebration in some circumstance to which depositing of Bitcoin may be needed. Maybe a lot does source out from Bitcoin or maybe they don't. I agree,  that every minor and major evenrs have impact towards the rise and fall of bitcoin. Even if Valentines isnt celebrated in one country or another.  Some still celebrates it, so every couple or an individual who is inlove, kids who loves their mother,  will still buy gifts, chocolates,  and they would plan surprises to celebrate another year of Valentines. There is no relation between valentines day . yes we are eagerly waiting for bitcoin pump before valentines day to celebrate but its not happening in near future . Now market going in bearish trend price already reached 8k . It wil take some more time to get settle down.

Valentine's Day is just a day for the stores and markets to have some huge sales and it's not about affecting the stock markets or the cryptocurrencies' prices.
What can happen is that people will not have much time to focus on trading which in this case more bots will be activated to auto-trade and we might see a slightly different price but not that much as bots as far as I know protect the owner to not lose too much by setting stop-loss and limits, but at the other side I think that maybe people will gift bitcoins or any related gift to the cryptowold which would involve women and more people into the crypto.

I wouldn't expect any large scale effect of that particular day, it is a day as any other, maybe couples more often go out to spend some time together (a restaurant, movies, theatres). But with bitcoin NOT being a currency you can pay for those services lately (everybody talking about hodling only, and high fees we are seeing) I will not be expecting any visible impact whatsoever on the price.

I think it should not, Valentine's Day seems to have nothing to do with the bitcoin, maybe some people will sell aggressively to reserve funds to buy gifts, but there should not be much volatility, after all, not everyone who invests in bitcoin has a girlfriend .

Though valentines day ibeing celebrated all thru out the world but not all people celebrates it and not all people celebrates valentines day granduously. And when people panic, they usually withdraw their holdings and then that causes the market to go down further more. But I really do hope BTC's price will go up before this month ends though, it has been really a tough start of the year and now BTC is down to around $8k+.

It is because the market of bitcoin has nothing to do or connect with the flowers and chocolates will be sold by the vendors or companies. You will predict the value of bitcoins for the following days, months, or years by yourself. Any day or month may change the value of bitcoin.

I don't see any particular reason why would Valentine's Day help with stopping Bitcoin from falling more. Do you expect a lot of people to buy Bitcoin as a Valentine's gift? I guess that most girls would be surprised with such gift and thought that the person who gave her BTC is crazy. Probably yes, because we created it or there are no stores of chocolates, flowers, accessories, cakes, that accept absolute payments with bitcoin, for that reason it is very safe that again during the February 14 it will suffer a decrease of values again. Yes, I do not think flowers will be more attractive than bitcoin. Valentine's Day can be done every year, but bitcoin can not be bought anytime soon. Even if you sell bitcoin at this moment to buy Valentine's Day gifts, It may not be a good idea to buy bitcoins back at a higher price in the future.

You are probably thinking that when a global event occurs there could be a huge need of money that is why most bitcoin holders sell out. That could be true during the Christmas season but I think it can't be compare to Valentines day. First of all, most of the geeks prefer to be with their computer more than their girlfriends or love ones. Second, that day is most suited for teens and young adults, it does not fit to children, thus there is no huge gathering that need extra amount of money for gifts or foods. And lastly, due to the price of bitcoin, most of the bitcoin holder will hold rather than cash it out.

I think that valentines day will not affect the value of cryptocurrency since most of the coins are coming from a certain area or a country. The flow of the market will be always depending on the consumers and investors so do not expect about a certain events to increase or decrease the price of cryptocurrency in the market.

Prices go up before Christmas because it is the end of the year, the period of bonus given by firms and people are buyng many things (amongst which, bitcoin, why not). Holidays (especially July, August) are affecting prices because in the middle of the year, people are budgeting... and tend to realize that actually, they need money. So they sell bitcoin and prices go down...

maybe valentine's day will not affect btc but the Chinese new year will give affect to btc because like what we see in the last year, the price is down although not too far like today but bitcoin price still could increase again after that. the valentine's day is only for a couple and not related with other news or what is happening in the market and I don't think that it will make the price is down again unless there is any bad news that will come out.
