Title: You've been scammed. What you can do ?
Post by: Eron the true on February 07, 2018, 12:25:05 PM
So everything is in the title.
What can you do when you have been scammed ? what are your possibilities to recover your funds, I mean here in the community, excepting going and report to the police.

It is hard to do something in the internet if you don't know the person who spam of you. A lot of spams happened in the last few years but only a little of them been catched.

Not much you can do, probably. Losing cryptocurrencies is just like losing your wallet with paper-cash in it.

Best is to avoid getting scammed in the first place.

But if that is too late, then I guess it really depends on the nature of the scam. Can the person scamming you be identified?
Are you able to track where those coins went to? i.e. if they got sent to an exchange, perhaps you can contact the exchange to see if they are willing to freeze it.

It is hard to recover the money that has been scammed. I am a victim also of scam, the group that I join is a trading but when there is a sudden drop in Bitcoin they have a hard time to earn the money that they will give to their colleagues. Be careful when you are using internet there are many scammers here just ask first. Don't spend big money when it is your first time. There are many using this stuff also when it comes to Bitcoin. You don't have any choice you will just accept that you are been scammed. Be careful.

You can try availing of a blockchain analysis service somewhere, in the hopes that you may be able to trace the scammer. There's not much you can do beyond that though, and it's very very unlikely you'll ever recover your funds.

Bitcoin gives you complete freedom on how to use your money, but that comes with the downside of being completely responsible for it. It sucks, but the only solution to scams is to not be a victim.

If it were so easy to recover funds that you don't have access to anymore, cryptocurrencies would be kinda pointless.

Doxxing is rarely possible, almost never helps and usually goes wrong resulting in collateral damage.

So in short: Take a lesson, cut your losses and move on. The only thing that we as a community can do is try to educate people on how to avoid scams in the first place. Especially newcomers seem to lose every bit of common sense when entering crypto. Look after them.

If you got scammed it was your own mistake and you should pay for it. Or at least that is what I think.

If we speak about scam where you have lost your money, as far as i know there is low chances for your founds to be returned. To avoid losing you money, when you do trading go through a trusted source (third party) to do trading for you. Check out Lauda (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=101872). She is a trusted member of this forum and have done this kind of jobs before. There are others too, and it should not be hard for you to find them.

If we speak about scam where you have lost your account here on forum. In that case best thing you can do is contact support and report scam. Same thing apply to other sites i guess.

My advice to all people out there is to stay away from shady people and sites. Visit only legitimate sites and do business only with people that you trust, if not apply what i said about trading.
This forum have good system, where people get Trust (positive or negative) for things they have done, which minimize possibility of scamming.

EDIT: Here you can find list of members that provides escrow services https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0

Because bitcoin is anonymous, we can't find people who lie to you through our wallet address.

I believe in a saying that states  "The best medecine is prevention" because most often you can't do something after you scammed specially in the internet and cryptomarket. Its a matter of analysis and prevention of that event. I suggest that before you invest you must investigate and be conservative about it.

All you can do when you encountered this kind of event, first of all you have to report that kind of scam, and let the authority fix that matter. The most important thing to do is to improve or strengthen the security and privacy of your account especially for those account which have not verified yet.

Trust no one.

Never react base on emotions, and think before you proceed to act (i.e. send money for someone). Always be cautious.

If it is too good to be true, then it probably is. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence before they convince you.

What can you do when you have been scammed ?
If its a crypto related scam, there's no way to recover the fund as we know that crypto transactions aren't reversible just like PayPal.

what are your possibilities to recover your funds, I mean here in the community, excepting going and report to the police.
The only way to recover those funds if the scammer is willing to return the fund to your wallet. Why are you asking this? Have you been scammed? Would you care to share your experience on where and how you've been scammed?

But if the scammer is recognizable and you have his identity the last resort would be filing a report to the authority.

There are different kid of scam, and some could be reported to the police and other authorities. They question is how can you prove that you are scammed and the supporting details it contain. If you knew who and can directly pinpoint the person that took advantage of your money or crypto then you have a chance to bring the case to the police, other wise, it could be a very difficult investigation. That is why most of the time people that are get scammed just look for a way to recover their loss in their own way.

This times, people were catch by clichés anf false or what is barely known as fake news. We are stuck and wanting to take risk for easy money task that cpuld last for somehow weeks yet still taking everything for an easy money. Being scammed is a choice since we are the one who creates our ability. Even the ability of others to be scammed.

I feel sorry for those who were scammed and hopefully it won't happen to others. The best thing to do is to learn about it and make sure that it won't happen to others by sharing your experience and telling them what exactly happened. Most of the people go to social media to share their experience but you have to think twice before doing the same. Also, you can report them to the authorities and directly point the person who conned you. It will never be a crime if its not reported so do your thing as a victim.

I think it is very hard to imagine doing something regarding scams especially if you can not seek help from the authorities. I think the only thing I can do is to be at my most careful state whenever I visit sites and look out for possible scams. I will have research and background checks in companies that may have scam possibilities. I will also make myself educated in Information and communication technology so at least I have some self defense against scam.

I think this is right. Prevention for me is better than cure. We also have the responsibility to educate ourselves in technology and to scam possibilities. We need to be guarded from phising, scam and many more since cryptocurrency is decentralized it is very hard to trace who the scammer would be. So, for us to be able to prevent those from happening, let us educate ourselves and research.

Scam is when a person or a group of people invited to invest and promised you profits. But instead they ran with your money and left you with nothing.

I think it's not possible to have your money back from those scam bags and you have no choice but to accept the fact that you lost your money and move on. Carry with you the lesson not to trust too much and try to have research first before investing.

Scams are all over the place so just be as a detective as you can before going in such circumstances.
You can't blame anyone unless it's you or the scammers.

There is no way you can recover those coins if someone able to hacked or have access to your wallet and get it from you because all cryptocurrency transactions are irreversible. If you will be able to trace every transactions of address that the scammer uses then it could be possible especially if he/she use an exchange but that's not simple thing you can do by your own because there are mixing services that can be used so that it will be hard to trace any transactions because it breaks the connection between the address sending the coins and the destination address.

There is very little thing to do and you must just accept it. The internet is a harsh place for people and many demons are just taking advantage and just using other people for their own benefit. These scams should be evaded by speculating deeply the background of a certain entity and making super safe decisions.

Is very hard to recover your found when you are already scammed because this is an online platform and at that you don't have much evidence, it best you just protect your self from being scammed you need to have adequate knowledge about any transactions and programs you sigh up with. Never reveals you secret key to any body.

You can't do anything just to recover your funds actually. once a fund was send there is no way to recover it from your personal/alt wallet/adress.  Since it's decentralized there are no banks or what so ever to reverse the transaction. just take caution when handeling your wallet never let anyone get access to your private key.

I believe there is nothing much you can do once you get scammed. Cryptocurrencies aren't regulated in some countries and the government would be able to do anything about it. The only thing you could to is to prevent it in the first place. You could either avail an escrow service (A trusted escrow ofcourse) or you could probe the person you are dealing with and make sure that, that person has a good and clean background. When in doubt, study the person.

It depends on the scam, but normally I would say the chances are quite low. We actually have a really good example on how to try to recover from a scam. I'm talking about bitconnet, since it took huge proportions and a lot of eyes are on that case will be solved. I think it's a good thing they are taking them to court, but I really doubt it will lead to anything. I think that on the majority of other scams, the people behind them are not even identified, so you can't really do anything.

I am not sure how much effective it will be, if you go to the cops and complain that you have been conned out of your Bitcoins. Here in India, Bitcoin is illegal and the cops will most likely press charges against you and demand hefty bribes. And where I live, the cops are very famous for their boorish behavior. I would avoid them at all cost.

First thing you do, is to report it under the scam section on this forum. Other people will pitch in to see if it is a scam and if it

is something new. Once you have done that, the community will respond to warn others. A lot of the most common scams are

reported here --> http://www.badbitcoin.org/thebadlist/ ... If you are lucky a white hat might offer to help you.  ;)

If I've been scammed the best to do is cry out loud so that this will help to ease pain and anger. If you've been scammed once, though its hard to accept but you will learn from that experience, You cannot recover your funds unless the person who scammed you feel guilt about it. take refresh by yourself and I believe in saying that in order to become successful person you will experience the struggles and adversities-this will helps and leads you to achieve your goal in life.

I do not think that there would be any remedy when you have been scammed.  Just stand up forget about it and start to earn and invest again.  As we all know when we sent our bitcoins it cannot be turned back.  It is irreversible.    Just go on with your life and started to work again.

Cryptocurrencies are based on decentralized blockchain technology. You can not do anything if a transaction is already completed and approved by miners. There is noone who can control the transactions. There is no possibility to take your funds back.

Your thoughts are like moving on thoughts after being scammed, its good to avoid wasting time, but its not that easy either. If the money is hardly earned its quite tough to move on, not everybody is strong like you. Also it put some friction to your earning or financially growing plan. But getting scammed via crypto is really hard or nearly impossible for normal people to get back the money or catch those shit heads, so I agree moving ahead forgetting this is the best option and a wise one.

It's horrible and it sucks and you boame yourself but if you keep blaming yourself you just punish yourself a second time. Use it to learn what not to do in the future. Let it fuel your fires for success and prove to the world that even if you scammed you won't just make the same amount of money again but 3x more then that. Now get out there and go on beast mode. So everything is in the title.
What can you do when you have been scammed ? what are your possibilities to recover your funds, I mean here in the community, excepting going and report to the police.
The best thing any person can do is to take a lesson from it. This will probably be the best thing one can do since he will definitely regret the decision of trusting that person. Once scammed in crypto, the money is gone and there is pretty much nothing we could do about it. We can surely TRY to trace the person and ASK him to return the money but as you know that would result to nothing. A robber never returns the treasure.
P.S. Unfortunately there are no CRYPTO COPS available in the community who can help us in this matter :D

First of all,The best thing to do is to learn from your mistakes and creates some safety precaution before engaging in such money trading activities. With that you will easily overcome those problem and elliminate such negative thoughts appearing in your mind which mostlikely end up with depression and anxiety.Afterall, blaming yourself all day won't help you get back what you've lost since in the system of crypto the concept of recovery does't exist at all  which means if you lost your money there's no way to recover it.Also, any government officials or authorities won't do any help since bitcoin has nothing to do with the government

Theres nothing you can do to recover your funds when you have been scammed. Everything on the BTC price is anonymous and you are the only one that knows the person you do a transaction with. Its better to guide against being scammed than finding a solution when you have already been scammed.

There is nothing you really can do about it as bitcoin is very untraceable. So this is a double edged sworld it gives you the power of being tractable but it makes unable to trace who steals from you. So my advice is forget about it and next time avoid being scammed.

Title: Re: You've been scammed. What you can do ?

You can try availing of a blockchain analysis service somewhere, in the hopes that you may be able to trace the scammer. There's not much you can do beyond that though, and it's very very unlikely you'll ever recover your funds.

Bitcoin gives you complete freedom on how to use your money, but that comes with the downside of being completely responsible for it. It sucks, but the only solution to scams is to not be a victim.
I quite a bit agree with your point what you said at last. Don't ever get victimized when you're being scammed. Instead act with all your cool n patience in such a situation. Availing Blockchain analysis services is a good option though but it rarely helps. So do not have much expectations from it

I guess there's nothing you can do about it anymore specially if you lose your money in cryptocurreny, you can never know who scammed you in the first place. The only thing you can do now is to be more cautious in making your next transaction and avoid being scammed again.

That's some what correct. Crypto-currency transactions are very anonymous, and therefore if your coins are stolen, then it becomes extremely difficult to recover them. I am not saying that it is impossible. But you need to spend huge amounts of time and effort, if you want to recover your funds.

I have been scammed by so many nasty people in crypto and I realize why now so any women are still reluctant to enter this space. Even in the bounty section, you have so many cheaters trying to steal the bread out of honest working folks. They are the smaller end of the scale, then you got hardcore developers taking our money through ICOS scams, hackers and phishing sites stealing from exchanges and wallets and also just nasty individuals that try to get our info to steal our hard earned money from us. I have seen the worst in crypto, but that doesn't mean I will roll over and die without a fight. Still I am here fighting for decentralization and for the real freedom from corporate slavery that has plagues our society for centuries, or should I say thousands of years. If all these idiots didn't only think for themselves but were on our side, then we would have had mass adoption and everyone would be on the moon now with Lambos and all sorts, and many more women in crypto too!!!

The most thing you could do is to move on and continue what you're doing. It is hard to believe that you've been scammed and the total of the money got from you will never come back unless you work hard again to earn it back. Well if you got scam here in the forum it is easy to report it to the moderators and they will work on it. But if you got scam on other aspects like investing on sites that is not official know by others and not a safe site then you got a problem with that. It that happens, you can do nothing about it and just move forward to your goal again and work harder to earn what you have lost. Thinking that you got scam will only get you stress, just have to gain your strength be positive. Let the karma handle the one you scammed you. And next time make sure to know or what are you transacting with and ask the opinion of others and make research about it.

EDIT: Here you can find list of members that provides escrow services https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=2439910.0
not much can be done if you are a victim of the irresponsible person, it's just that you need to be careful in following the trading because too many scammers in this internet world. I myself was very careful in saving money in my wallet because it is very unfortunate if I to lose the funds I have painstakingly earned,

Just to point out the very obvious reason of why you can't do things when getting scammed when using cryptocurrencies is that the transaction is "irreversible". No organisation or governance that could cancel the transaction because all is decentralised.
Basically end of discussion. However if you still can track them down and then find out where they live, still a slight of chance you can sue them and filling a lawsuit.

The possibilities to recover your fund is almost Zero and this is undoubtedly Crypto's one of the biggest flaw.Sometimes you can't even realize how you have been scammed.Once it is done it is done,You can complain to the exchange or to the authorities but that will only help in creating awareness and that's it.The biggest positive you can get from this is a trading lesson.

It is hard to do something in the internet if you don't know the person who spam of you. A lot of spams happened in the last few years but only a little of them been catched.
The first thing you should do is inform other fellow crypto people about the scam, give as much info as you can. Next learn from it, since bitcoin is decentralized there is no central body that's responsible for this incidents.

Next time you do transactions with anyone make sure you do research wether it's an ICO or  an individual trader.

Cryptocurrencies are based on decentralized blockchain technology. You can not do anything if a transaction is already completed and approved by miners. There is noone who can control the transactions. There is no possibility to take your funds back.
You cannot not be scammed in a way that no one can scam nay of the crypto currency and cannot access your wallet until and unless you yourself provides him with the private key. However, if there comes a situation when you feel like you are scammed, then you can do nothing else than hoping for the minimum possible loss to suffer. You need to make yourself a learned man to avoid such kind of mishaps.

If you are consumed by the seduction of a scam service then it is your own fault because you are not careful to invest your money in the form of digital assets. It is very difficult also we can get the loss because the authorities to crack down on the crime have difficulty to track the perpetrators if the service is anonymous status. So, we better be careful in making investments because the internet is very vulnerable to fraud.

i think you create new account and make sure it would not hacked again make that you not tell anyone
Having a new account doesn't make things more secure. Getting hacked is different from scammed these two have the same objective but different in execution.

I was scammed before and it ruined my day because there's not much that I can do about it after he ran away with my money. What I did after getting scammed is spread awareness by sharing the incident that happened to me so there could be less victims and that served me a lesson when I transact with strangers online.

If the incident happened here in the forum make a thread on the scam accusation board  (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?board=83.0) so that he'll get negative feedback/reputation from dt members

You have to accept that you will not get your money back.  Sure report it to the police/FBI.  But don't expect anything to come of it.  Before sending BTC or other, always check who you are buying from thoroughly.  Search intensively about the person or website on this forum.  Check the listed confirmed scams here;

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=1978151.0;topicseen

Use escrow.
If your not sure about the deal then don't send the payment!

What can you do when you have been scammed ? what are your possibilities to recover your funds, I mean here in the community, excepting going and report to the police.

;D Common!  Did you say police?  Common!  How is that possible? Bitcoin or cryptocurrency business is decentralized and that means it is globally transacted. You can only have the wallet address of the coin you sent your fund to but you might not be able to trace or see the receiver physically. That means police is out of it for now that regulation has not come. Although,  someone can be lucky to get it sent back if it was sent in error to a nice person but if it is a hacker, you just move on because a hacker is on his business.

Being scammed is a difficult and a very big problem that needs a big and good solution.  Getting started is a little bit harder that will be needing more hardwork.  If i am being scammed i will be more careful with my actions and verify all the things that i need to do before making a decision.

Some things to consider is if you know the person, the whereabouts and some other important information that you can trace him. Otherwise, it will be hard to recover the funds if its an unknown person that you sent your btc to. All i can say is, be careful who you transact to next time. Move on if you hold no important information with that scammer and try to recover your losses in some other ways, like trading, mining, and staking.

You should report it because if you don't do something, the criminals will just keep doing the same thing over and over again to other victims. There are organizations out there that want to help you. The one is the ICCC or the Internet Crime Complaint Center that you can report the online extortion, identity theft, hacking, Economic Espionage and other major cyber crimes.

Be a model. Do not be too shy that you scam or you do not admit you have scammed, because we I think has experience that. The thing is we need to educate people who are unknowledgeable for enable them to not meet this bad doings of other people, scamming. One kind of a sure scam is HYIP sites or High Yield Investment Platforms which has deceitful interest that can really make people invest. They are using Ponzi Scheme in most cases.
I myself is a victim of HYIP Sites. My responsibility in order to help other people is to teach and aware them of these sites.

His account on the forum will be banned as well if proven guilty. I hate it when I hear/read news that a scammer got away and nothing happened to him. It's always happening that is why those scammers keeps on multiplying. They will always have a way to get into someone's account and steal everything to their victim. Don't trust anyone and use different passwords. Don't login on other computer or login in a public wifi.

Once you entered and starts investing and trading bitcoin, you don't just expect to win, you also have to prepare yourself to lose. For me, it's like a gamble, you have to be smart and wise. Once you got scammed, it's more likely that you won't get your money back; what you can just do is to treat it as a lesson and moved on. In some cases, if you know or you can identify who scammed you, then this will give you a bit of chance to recover your investment. Scammers nowadays are very sophisticated, they are very professional on what they are doing, anyone can hardly distinguish if an investment is fake or not. It's always important to be very cautious and think many times before deciding on whatever you want to do.

It is hard to do anything about the scam that you have gotten yourself into. Except you know the person or any of the officials who took part in it, then, through that you can make any move that will be of help in getting your money back.
For example, the ponzi sites and doubling sites are sites where one can be scammed sooner or later. And when that happens, you have no one to hold, which means you'll have to move on with life.

Not much really. Even the police in most country is still not that keen on tracing cybercrime. At least with bitcoins it's possible to follow the money trail but that won't assure you anything. For example, the person could have already cashed out. Or worse he could have had it mixed and converted to other currencies and moved multiple times.

If it's straight cashed out via exchange, there may be hope though I guess only the unseasoned would do that.

It mostly depends on the situation and what you exactly mean. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible so if the scammer run away with your bitcoins then there is nothing you can do beside reporting him on bitcointalk in case he's registered here and report it to the police but you would have to have his real information. Usually when people trade here, they don't expose their identity. Never trade with lower ranks, if you do - don't use PayPal or hire an escrow which will take some % of the transaction but certainly the whole trade will be much safer.

If you are just investing in your place then it will good for you because you can ask the help of the authorities to arrest the people who faclilitate it and win justice but mostly your money will never be return to you because they might already hide it. Then if you have been scammed thru internet site then there is nothing you can do but to charge it to your experiences and learned from it because that is the most difficult situation in which you invest to that site like fake ICO with the true identities of the facilitators are unknown. So better to review carefully the investing sites to avoid to become a victim.

First, i don't think you can report bitcoin scam since bitcoin doesn't regulated by law and there is no proof of you've being scammed other than your transactions tx. However what prove can you report to police or authorities that you've been scammed? You can report them to authorities if there are proof or if you sign some contract from some HYIP coins like Bitcon*ect, etc because as i know they even have some Head office in some countries which being shutted down now by authorities.

there is not much we can do when getting a scam investment. especially investment in ico. this case of course will be different from the real world. instead of reporting to the authorities, but in the virtual world? who can we rely on in cases such as fraud.
all we can do is to tell the community not to get caught in the same fraud case.

I don't think that if you have been scammed then there is a chance to recover your funds because that is not possible since the scammers are smart and they know how to exit from that scam. The only thing that you can do after you have got scammed is you should take it as a lesson and don't easily trust anyone in your environment to manage your money.

it is very difficult to be able to return your money on the internet, especially in the cryptocurrency community which basically uses the transaction system anonymously. I've had a case of scam in the form of a hyip investment (High Yield Investment Program) and a ponzi scheme. and what I did was to give up my money lost, because I had realized from the beginning when following the two forms of investment, it always ends up with scam. and the risk I have taken.

In my country bitcoins will be their asset to earn or investment but some other people are greedy about money, scam are calling it a "PONZI" I don't really know about that meaning but they called that word of being scam. In here our forum, there is a reporting thread about scam projects you can report it and have some proof, also who is the bounty manager or held that project. You can try reporting it to the authorities but lets face it that won't actually help you at all. The best thing is to think of it as a lesson and learn from the bad experience.

Recovering the funds isn't going to happen, or at least, it is very VERY unlikely to happen regardless of the situation. Once the funds leave your wallet you would need access to their private keys or seed phrase to recover it from theirs. Not even law enforcement would be able to obtain that without their permission, unless they're completely stupid.

There are various kinds of scams. It depends on the kind, or probably on the gravity of the particular scam whether your funds will still be recovered or not. There were scams involving Bitcoin in the past wherein the amount reached millions of dollars. I think with this huge amount, the possibility that your funds will be recovered is very slim. So you simply have to let the culprit answer to the law for their activities.

if you get scammed by other people lets put the scenario you made a peer to peer transaction to a bitcoin seller then he/she scammed you
1. thing you need to do is don't panic gather some proofs of being scam like messages and conversation that you legitimately transact with that person.
2. Get all the transaction information like TXN or the transaction ID.
3. Report it to authorities report the person to blotter it in the police and then inform others to be aware.

instead of getting angry make legal and ethical action first that might help you and always remember it's no ones fault it's your fault you easily fooled and last learn the lesson.
before making transactions or any crypto transfers make sure you know the person you are transacting to.

If you are deceived and lose some money for example from online transactions, I do not think there is any way to get your money back. But from that point take the lessons do not trust everyone you meet on the internet, even though he already has a good reputation. Because crime is not because of intention, but because there is a chance. It applies to people who are considered good and have a good reputation. Because some people are risking reputation just because of money. Thank you

Just simply don't expect that something would come back from your investment, if something is confirmed to be a scam it would be hard to see a developer to return something for you. The developer would suddenly disappear and the identity would surely vanish. Thus, before getting to a project be sure that you are engage with a good and legit team.

For me, there's nothing you can do here. The maximum that can be done in this situation is to write that the person is a fraudster, on those or other sites or forums. The real police will not give you money back.

So, the first thing I have to do is call out Lauda or the others DT1/2 members on the Scam Accusation(s) child board to tag the scammer if only I were scammed in this forum. For recovering my funds, I have no ideas what I'm going to do except punish the scammer.
EDIT: Is it the right place to post this thing on Bitcoin Discussion?

But if we get scamed in a group of ppl, i think we still had a chance to find out who scammed us

We can do warn everyone in our community. We should learn from the past and don't do the same false again. Analysis the problem, and never blame someone. Actually, it's simple but many people did the wrong step because most of them focus on the cause of the problem. Suppose you are bitten by a snake, then what will you do? Maybe you will blame and judge the snake, or you will catch and kill it? No man, what should you do if you have to get rid of the snake, then you must immediately treat or healing the poison from the snake, DON'T focus too vengeance and kill the snake! If you do that, yes maybe you will be satisfied but you will sick and died of it? which one would you choose? Let the snake go away and you heal yourself immediately or you can be satisfied because you kill the snake and you will die after it?

You will lose everything when you get scammed in the Crypto market. Because this is an anonymous market in transactions and everything can be faked.
So you will need to be more careful in future transactions to avoid the risk of fraud. You can learn how to avoid being scammed by experts on this subject.

You need to report it because if you can't make a move, the criminals will just carry on doing exactly the same thing repeatedly with victims. There are organizations to choose from looking to aid you. Usually the one would be the ICCC or perhaps the Internet Crime Complaint Center that you could report the net extortion, identity fraud, hacking, Economic Espionage along with other major cyber crimes.

The only think you can really do is reporting to the authorities and to the community, to prevent other people for falling. And, very important, learn from your experience, learn your lesson so you would not fall for a scam ever again.

In a scam, you actually give away your private keys or you send money to the scammer, who fooled you.

Honestly there is really low change you will recover your funds, unless the scammer goes really stupid (uses for example the same address for all their scams, usually they change it and use a new one for each scam, so they go low profile and difficult to be identified).

I've never been a victim of scam, but if were to be the victim-God forbid. What I would do is to learn from that mistake. Every experience, it could have a big or small impact in your life, it all gives a lot of lessons. Secure yourself from pretentious people and those who get your trust, do backgrounds check, and most importantly report scam and fraud. In these ways, it can help protect yourself and lessen the risks of scams.

We must understand that Bitcoin and cryptocurrency are all about responsibilities and one gets what he deserves from his actions. However, if someone has lost his funds in any scam then, first of all, he should make sure that there is no miscommunication or misunderstanding because goodwill is the extremely valuable asset and if the user has concrete evidence and no justifying response from the group/company then he should immediately report it on the pages associated with that company so that other people won't invest in it until the issue is resolved. I am sceptical about getting funds back without legal procedure so the second best thing that one can do is to find the people who have lost funds in the same way and collectively take for the decision.

I think everyone in real life will learn a lesson after they get scammed. Being scammed isn't a good way to learn things but it's the most effective way to learn something that normal way can't have.
Anyway, stay away from things those aren't trusted and be safe first when you're trying to do anything. Shouldn't get scammed is better than learning from it.

Scamming is a potential risk that comes with cryptocurrency mostly in illegitimate sites. Other than contacting support to see if the scammer can be identified, or if the coins destination can be tracked for possible freezing, nothing else can actually be done where the internet is concerned. However, it can be avoided by visiting only legitimate sites and involving third party for guidance, especially for 1st timers.

You can try availing of a blockchain analysis service somewhere, in the hopes that you may be able to trace the scammer. There's not much you can do beyond that though, and it's very very unlikely you'll ever recover your funds.

Scammers are extremely existing and getting increasingly. To avoid being scammed you need to do this: Keep your account and personal details secure, and also your mobile device and computer, choose your password carefully and review your privacy and security settings in all social media crypto account.
Everything you mentioned is an action to minimize or prevent from scammers. But although we have been careful, sometimes we are fooled, unintentionally or unlucky to have a reality if we have been scammed. If that happens, for me maybe I will be sincere and move on.

This is perhaps the biggest downside of crypto market where majority of things are unregulated and in case of a scam there is zero chance of recovery. If you want to avoid scam, invest only in regulated ICOs and tokens like ripple. But this is also a fact that many have made fortunes by investing in unregulated ICOs  :)

So everything is in the title.
What can you do when you have been scammed ? what are your possibilities to recover your funds, I mean here in the community, excepting going and report to the police.

There is a very little chance where you can get back your money so I guess the only thing you can do to prevent other people from being scammed also is to inform the public that the specific persons are scammers. In this community we should help each other and one way is that informing us which persons shouldn't be trusted anymore in this business so we can all live and work here in bitcoin peacefully.

first thing first make sure you turn on your 2fa in your email accounts every email providers have that feature in their security and privacy like GMAIL if you are joining AIRDROPS use different email that you use in your bitcoin or token wallet account and different in filling up.
second thing do not fall in the email send to you
always check the links if that is the real links
make sure you do not share your  private key and other sensitive data like password of any personal information online it can be the leak in your account hackers are getting smarter and smarter now a days

These are the lessons for us. Besides having the experience and the lessons I do not know what to do. If you invest in this market if you are cheated, then litigation is impossible.

It's hard to get your loss back!

Because digital cryptocurrency transactions are anonymous, and this BBS user comes from all over the world!

The alarm seems very difficult to recover the damage!

Recovering what you lost from the scam organizations online would be extremely unimaginable like online investments. Yet at the same time I exceedingly empowered that you report it to specialists on the grounds that cyber crime division can investigate and check whether there's an example to their exercises and catch these criminals.

Well, it's always a good learning experience to get scammed. At least you get to learn from your mistakes and you learn how to defend yourselves from future scams. Likewise, everyone learns how to properly safeguard their belongings. Keep safe and always see through scams!

Well,  I think it's all depends on what you do, is right tho to do something which is has good profit for yourself as long as it isn't ilegal. So what do you scare of? The police,  you can explaine what you to them,  tell tgem the truth.

Once we scammed we can never get back even we reported to the police because its hard to identify the scammers considering mostly of accounts used are dummy accounts. So the best thing to do is to be careful and to follow security precaution to avoid happening again.

I guess the only thing you can really do is to just report the person on the trading site which he scammed you on. I hate frauds so much man! This happened to a friend of mine he got scammed on hack forums for $200 and never got them back, the site didn't care. After the incident we moved on here, to Bitcoin Talk. To round it up, there is not much really you can do to get your money back. Just report the account and pray that everything will go back to normal.

I've been scammed so many times before, when I starting on cryptocurrency. Most scams are from HYIP platforms, thats the time when the bitcoin is rallying up, last year only. But after those many scams, I already learned the lesson and now, I know where to put my money.

If you have scammed,  you NEVER refund it. Because when you do transaction, you already agree with 'scammer condition'.  The police will not help you in any case, because use and transaction crypto currency is not legal in some country and we not know the owner of hacker wallet.

So,  pls check carefully when you do any transaction!!!

I you've been scammed then the funds that you had before will never be refund just keep in your mind that it is the end so don't dare to give up and lose hope though you need to be careful and wise because scammers and those people who did illegal doings are being more interested when they see that it is free to enter or it is unsecured.

Probably you can do nothing even if you trace the address of the scammer you cannot recover your funds.
There are some pointers to never be scam again, enable 2fa, do not click any suspicious link,do not connect your devices in any public places.

There's nothing you can do if your funds and private key had been stolen, be extra careful next time and learn not to trust anyone when it comes to money especially one that comes from cryptocurrency. Avoid investing in HYIP, check URL certificate if valid and don't click any suspicious link on website and emails.

There is nothing you can do about it unless you are a big people so you will trace them down but if you are a normal person just like me you will just stay calm as much as possible because i cannot even talk to the manager of that campaign i am always encountering a scam in an ico signature campaign i do not know why but maybe it is easy to be fake and it is easy to get away with it. And i have been scammed in that recently luckily i did not invest in it but rather joined the bounty campaign so it really sucks.

well there is nothing much you can do if you have been scammed especially when you dont know the person directly. you just brush yourself up and hustle harder

There is nothing you can do after you are deceived. The coin coins you get will not be recoverable if someone hacked or had access and got it from you because all cryptocurrency transactions can not be changed. because this is an online platform and at that time you do not have much evidence, should you protect yourself from being scammed You need to have adequate knowledge about every transaction and program you sigh. Never reveal a secret key to anyone.

If you have been scammed in crypto world you can't do anything, because we use Bitcoin now for being anonymous. Blockchain is not like PayPal where you need fill your information, send your ID and confirm your bank account. If you get scammed PayPal will return your fund just in few click. So be careful with crypto paying because once you send coins there is no chance to get it back.

I would try to accept the lose. And be more careful next time.
the perfect to do is you should accept the fact that people sometimes scammed so i guess we should accept the loose and lets move on when we use to feel it and be more carefull on your next thing to do and would be better soon.
