FAQ

1. Why you sell this accounts?
Answer. I never thought this accounts has value until I saw someone selling them here. This accounts has no use to me.

2. Why we buy an account if we can make for free?
Answer. It's true, you can easily create an account, but the older the accounts the more trust it has. You don't have to send first thus preventing someone scamming you.

3. Can we use this accounts to scam?
Answer. Absolutely no, I'm against any form of scam.

4. Is it allowed to buy accounts and own multiple accounts on bitcointalk.org?
Answer. Yes as answered by SaltySpitoon, https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=303414.msg3269475#msg3269475

5. What is your assurance that account will not be taken back?
Answer. Most of my accounts is posted and developed by team for many months. I can assure you that this accounts would not be taken back. I'm selling here for almost a year and sold more than a hundred accounts. What is the purpose of taking back an account? That account would only get a negative feedback and cannot be sold again and I would also lose my reputation in return.

I made a new account because I could not change my nickname, its no big deal to start again.. Buying usernames seems stupid.. and a scammer could buy one of those 2010's can con people out of coins.

Hopefully everybody reads all posts before sending something to a stranger. Joining date 2010, few post a year, seems legit

Because someone wants them. Just like bitcoin.

Obsolutely nothing.
If they had more posts, and 100 - 600 activities they would be worth the price.

But with only 5 posts, they will have 5 activity. It means that you will have to wait 6 minutes before each posts.
It also means that it does not matter if that was made in 2012 or not ...

But old accounts, with posts, are heroes member, supposed to be "trustworthy". But those accounts, won't have more activites than any new accounts made today, considering that they were inactive for years.

You can buy some 10-20 accounts and keep pumping up some service you are building. Since these are older accounts, it could give more "trust" to the service, thus more people would visit it. If you got my point, it is more likely that this service has another name (which is getting very common around here). This is the only reason I see for buying these accounts.

New accounts could be easily detected as alts but old accounts is more immune. This accounts is good for promoting services, products, alt coins, for giveaways,  for bumping your threads, for voting and many other that could stimulate your business. And a couple of alts is also good to depend yourself from trolls.

If your account is registered in 2011 made 1 post during that year. And login today and create 500 posts. Your account will become a hero member in one day. But your account is created july 2013 no matter how much posts you made your activity will stay very low. Thats the difference with old account.

You clearly have no idea how activity works lol.
Just a small search:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=237597.0

The activity number is determined in this way:
time = number of two-week periods in which you've posted since your registration
activity = min(time * 14, posts)

Activity is updated every 30 minutes.

If your account is registered in 2011 and made 1 post during that year, and today login and create 500 posts (which will take 500x6 = 3 000 min = 125 hours = almost 18 days ::) but whatever) then:
posts = 501.
time = 2.
activity = min ( 2 x 14 ; 501 ) = 28.

Your activity will be 28. Same as a 2 weeks old account with 28 posts.
Inactive period does not count for activity.

Now that registration is down I understand if people haven't already got accounts and want to purchase them. But, then you would only need to be patient. It's easy to get these number of posts.

Also, you won' have a suspicious looking account if you just create your own. Old accounts with no posts looks really bad.

It wouldn't be much of a problem if there wasn't so many scammers buying these accounts. It's scammers heaven. The OP says he doesn't encourage it. But as soon as he hands over that account he is no longer in control so it's kind of pointless to put that question in the FAQ.

Because registration is disabled and there is limitations imposed on newbies like the 360 second posts limit and 5 messages per hour limit. If a newbie or a newcomer wants to join the forum there are very little option available for him other than buying accounts.

Well if your income/hour > 17$ then yes u want to do it.
But I still hold my opinion that forum shouldn't allow this.

I only giving the members an alternative. 17$ maybe big to you but this amount is worth a penny to others. My customers don't want to wait its not worth their time while you want to raise your post count for a big sig pay.

The negative is not for scamming. Tysat just selectively post negative feedback to me for selling accounts. But he didn't on my competitors.

I will swap you for 5 Newbie accounts all freshly created in the last few days.  Each account has 5 to 10 posts like "+1", "lol", "HODL" and "to the moon".  Three of the accounts have a perfect trust score of '0' and the others have negative trust scores which will make you stand out from the crowd.

That is one fine job at trolling.

Haha, it takes more than 1/2 a year to get sr member. You think someone is going to sell for $25?

You could probably get a Member account for that haha.

Probably not even that. :D

Okay, 0.06BTC then. I'm already full member so can't pay so much...

There are already rates set there. You should PM the OP if you want to negotiate. In my case though, I wouldnt sell a SR.Member account for atleast 0.75 BTC.

Damnnn really? I never thought it was valued that high!

Why sell a Sr account for 0.05 when you can earn 0.001 per post?

Where can we earn 0.001? The highest I found was 0.0009.

I think he said 0.001 as a rounded up figure of 0.0009

Yeah, but that's not the point is it? Anyone can achieve Hero Member status but in the meantime they're not going to be getting paid big money for it on a sig deal, so that's why buying a Snr or Hero account could be very profitable. And looking by your feedback you might've actually bought this accounts, so... :P.

I might be interested if there was a way to guarantee a safe exchange, but I wouldn't just blindly send my hard-earned BTC to someone who might not even have the accounts they are advertising that's for sure.

From my understanding he wants to sell his hero member account but don't know the price and he is afraid to get negative feedback for selling an account.

Answer. Absolutely no, I'm against any form of scam.

I don't know how you are going to prevent a scammer to scam with one of the account you would have sold.
I don't think you technically can, saying "no" is not enough :)

Yes, It is super old. I sold more than 100 accounts ince I started selling many months ago. I stated on my first post. I created accounts for seo backlinks for my clients. When I saw there is a need for accounts.

Obviosly most of my account buyer would not speak, unfortunately buying and selling is still considered taboo even it is allowed.

Interesting.  Well good luck with your "business".  I'm not sure I totally believe you but I appreciate you answering my questions.  If you don't mind saying, how many accounts did you create back in the day for SEO.  If you've already sold 100, how many more are actually left?  And how on earth could you have had time to get 100s of accounts out of newbie jail and whatnot?

Obviosly most of my account buyer would not speak, unfortunately buying and selling is still considered taboo even it is allowed.

Interesting.  Well good luck with your "business".  I'm not sure I totally believe you but I appreciate you answering my questions.  If you don't mind saying, how many accounts did you create back in the day for SEO.  If you've already sold 100, how many more are actually left?  And how on earth could you have had time to get 100s of accounts out of newbie jail and whatnot?

I have hundreds of customers in the span of 4 years. I also created hundreds of accounts. It is very easy because I have workers.

Are you running a sweatshop or something of people just spamming away?  ;D I find it hard to believe that you've sold over hundred in only 'many months' as well.

My main business is seo, reputation management and data entry. I hire dozens of workers to do the orders for me. Im also selling accounts to other websites.  My highest sale of accounts during theymos disabled the registration but I'm selling the newbie accounts at 0.01 btc each.

Now this is something that I definitely do not understand.  Who would pay anything for a newbie account---they can just make their own for free, eh?  I get it that someone might be interested in buying an account with a high activity or post count because of the signature ad campaigns that run on this forum.   But what's the value in a newbie account?  0.01BTC?!

Yeah, I don't understand buying a newbie account but I'm sure people would buy a Jnr one for a little to bypass the 6 minute wait which can be very annoying. Obviously higher member accounts are valuable for sig campaigns etc.

He said he would:

Now you have options to use escrow. I'm using Light https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?action=profile;u=2818
as my official escrow. You have to asked him first for the escrow btc address. You will also pay for the escrow fee.

Ok, so I understand that your newbie accounts had some market value for the temporary period where no new users could register, but what's the deal currently?  I'm not interested in buying an account (which I can make for free) but is there anyone who is?  I'm pretty confused.

What are you confused about? He doesn't seem to be selling newbie accounts at the moment and I doubt any one would currently buy them. Maybe people would buy a Jnr Member account for shorter delays, but you still can't use it on most sig deals.

I'm selling from member to hero member account. Many would want to use it for signature advertising like the big red sig you are using. Those accounts take time to create.

Because a moderator decided to leave him it and obviously he is of the opinion that selling accounts is frowned upon. I don't think it should've been left though if it's not against the rules and if this guy hasn't scammed or attempted to scam soimebody.

What if you scam him as well? If he scams you or someone else then come back here and tell everyone about it and he wont be selling any more accounts again. And it's not a complete loss if the name gets revealed. I don't see how it would anyway.

Yeah you do have a point there. I just don't see why a legit guy would buy an account is what I'm trying to say. Seems like it would be easy to steal from someone. But I guess the logical thing would be to collect from sig revenue.

The mods and admins wont get involved. They tolerate it but don't condone it nor are they there to help you out if you get scammed. Buying and selling accounts isn't exactly a legit business anyway, but the person who buys the account is taking that risk.

Ostensibly this is the case.  However, is there any actual discussion of it on meta?  I didn't find anything related.  I'm still at a loss as to why anyone would pay anything for a newbie account, though.  That seems crazy.

There's a couple. It usually pops up every once in a while but I haven't seen one in a few months. And he already said why people bought newbie accounts. People probably wouldn't buy them now, but they did apparently during the time theymos disabled registrations to the site.

You mean selling weed seeds? Selling seeds is allowed as long as it's legal to do so in your country and you will only ship to countries where it's legal. If you offer worldwide shipping then you might get your topic thrown in the trashcan. Selling accounts isn't illegal. It might be frowned upon by many but it's currently allowed here on the forum.

Obviously I can't speak for what this guy will offer you but I'd imagine a Hero account would be worth up to or around 1.5btc. You could easily get 1btc for it though.

Wow, didn't knew that!

They're certainly valuable now with the signature changes/limitations. I've seen Snr Member accounts go for up to 1btc, but they recently seem to be going for around 0.6-0.8. Hard to get an accurate figure though as many deals obviously go on behind closed doors, but I'm sure Subud will make you an offer soon if he hasn't already.

There's no foolproof way to 100% safely guarantee the account is yours forever. Accounts can always be recovered by signing an address linked to that account. You'll just have to trust that the seller won't do this. The account will likely be unusable anyway if they did recover it as people would probably leave negative feedback on it if you told them what happened.

I hate to post this but I got scammed from this guy out of .2 BTC.

He is not longer responding to PM's. I sent .2 BTC to him and he's not even bothering to reply to me. He's logged on seeing my PM's.

https://blockchain.info/tx/4b520275965511f9427924271c3086d211fbddbc8f6c47993613cf492e608d74

If this gets resolved, I'll gladly remove this post. But I will be leaving - trust, and attempt to get someone from the trust list to do the same. Which I hope will be removed as this gets solved, but til then, he's scamming.

Weird that he'd try scam you for such a relatively small amount compared to what he's getting for some of the other accounts. I guess you should've taken advantage of the escrow offered though, but maybe he'll get this sorted out as if it's true that'll probably be the last account he ever "sells". Maybe open up a thread in scam accusations with the evidence you have.

Yes, the thread is totally new and no comments left there so we don't know If he Is legit so Subud! should keep the prices as It Is now, no need to lower them till that guy doesn't have any trust and Subud! an actually keep bigger prices because he is trusted on this forum for selling accounts as far as I know.

Subud! Nice thread update, but you shouldn't change your prices, the price should even go up because advertising campaigns pay so much more than back in few months, It takes from 7 to 14 days to pay off your bought account and start making really good profit, so there is no reason for them going down and also you have trust so that's another reason why the price should stay the same, only my opinion.

These new guys are just scam artists trying to sell Negative rep accounts, already tested them out, please even if you dont buy from me keep yourselfs protected buy from subud!.

And if you do buy from these new sellers please USE ESCROW someone you trust not who they trust, there is a large list of trustworthy escrow member on the forums.

Subud, looks like you've already got some reputation issues.  What's with all the negative feedback?

I saw theymos legalize the account trading, but are you required to report the account you sold and bought to theymos?

Still selling accounts.

I think this is not looking so good if you have to resort to the tactics of escrow.pm in order to get noticed.  I don't know, I'm not interested in buying or selling accounts, I just find the whole thing a bit creepy.

No. Most people don't tell anyone what account they have bought or sold as they usually get negbombed by a couple of users if they're found out (see subud's feedback).

It *is* a kind of shady business IMHO.  I mean, why can't folks just open an account for themselves (it's free/gratis!).  I really figure that the only reason someone would be buying accounts is that they're looking to spam the forum in one way or another and they need the higher activity in order to post more rapidly or with a larger ad-banner etc.

Can you guys think of any legitimate reasons for buying accounts rather than just using the one you already have (you have to already have one inorder to communicate with subud to buy, I think.)?

You've just described the main reason probably 99.9% of accounts are now sold for. It might be 'shady', but it's currently allowed by the forum and obviously they've created a market for accounts by changing the signature restrictions. You can email Subud rather than create an account, and plenty of people do open accounts for free and build them up, but some people obviously don't want to wait the time it takes to be able to participate in sig deals and think it's worthwhile just buying an account to skip the wait.

Not sure but at a guess I'd say probably sending unsolicited PMs trying to buy accounts.

I wonder if it's permanent or just a temp ban?

From what I heard bans are permanent. Sucks because he seemed legit.

interesting -- his profile does not indicate he is banned. profiles don't say when you are banned?

anyone with information on why he was banned please keep us updated. it shouldn't have had anything to do with buying and selling accounts -- clearly that is not against forum roles.

blasting PMs is the reason i see most commonly for bans.

for those interested in buying an account, see https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=631029.0

Account sales are looked down upon so it is a shady business to be apart of. Perhaps it may be partly a reason.

see the OP. it is clearly NOT a violation of TOS and mods have openly white listed buying/selling accounts.

Fair enough. I rarely see accounts get banned around here so it's pretty rare to see one happen.

While it may not be against the TOS you can't tell me that it's an ethical practice

The whole point of a trust system is being able to have the confidence in the person you are dealing with
When you buy and sell account you invalidate that and make it completely meaningless

As a direct result I'm unwilling to trust anyone of this forum when buying/selling/trading and so should everyone else until this sort of practice is outlawed

Then again some people would sell their own mothers just to make a quick buck

Good Riddance I say

Ethical -- perhaps not. But it isn't a particularly deep ethical question, considering that the market for these accounts is for signature advertising -- not scamming. The emphasis is generally on forum activity, not trust rating. Sure, scammers will scam, though.

It isn't hard to catch a scammer to be honest. I don't understand why people would - rep him for selling accounts. Sig advertisements were worth it.

That's fine

Now ask yourself the question why there are restrictions on new user accounts being able to create signatures

No matter which way you put it.. The only reason you buy and sell accounts are to get around restrictions/rules that have been placed there for a certain purpose

And to me that seems so counter-intuitive to impose the restrictions and allow the counter measures
