Title: Re: merit hole: 30 accounts more than 500 merits Post by: The Sceptical Chymist on February 22, 2018, 07:04:38 PM I noticed ivanst776 has been sending a lot of merits for posts that were basically shitposts, but I'm still on the fence about how much of a transgression it is to do so, and I never said anything.
Glad you started this thread--ironically, I would give OP some merit but I ran out of them. I would totally not be disappointed if a DT member tagged all of these users. I feel strongly that shitposters should not "earn" enough merit to rank up, and certainly that these shmucks didn't deserve even 2 merits for any of their posts, much less 10 or 20. That's insane. Title: Re: merit hole: 30 accounts more than 500 merits Post by: Toughit on February 23, 2018, 01:40:21 AM I can see why ivanst776 awarded 50 merit points for the post below, after all it does mention Bitcoin three times and never mentions merit... 'Bitcoin is a risk, but we must remember that the best profit comes from the riskiest decision we can make. Bitcoin security is not perfect and it always depends on the internet and we have lots of hackers all over the world. so better put some money on bitcoin and not take the risk of giving all you have. just a part of it." Title: Re: merit hole: 30 accounts more than 500 merits Post by: ericunc95 on February 23, 2018, 01:43:52 AM Damn...all that merit for those posts. I am struggling to get to 10 to rank up to member but at least I know I am doing it the right way. I know not all of my posts are merit worthy but hopefully some of them continue to earn from time to time. I hate seeing this system abused even though I might not like it. Thanks for your hard work in identifying these transgressions. I am sure after a while that they will be easier to spot and hopefully they can get addressed and the issue be remediated.

Considering that the whole point of the 'system' is to decrease and at the very least discourage posts like this, I dont think its too much of a stretch to say that this is a transgression. 50 Merits for a post that could be written by a 6yr old and tries to explain risk/reward by saying take a massive risk is bat shit insane. Do people honestly think that this post adds to the community and that this poster deserves the respect that goes along with a higher rank? Great work OP for point this out, and some the merit you've earned. Title: Re: merit hole: 30 accounts more than 500 merits Post by: RamonBTC on February 23, 2018, 03:28:28 AM I’m not sure what they’re willing to do because they look so desperate, that end up doing something ridiculously obvious. They’re fooling they’re own kind and giving a shit of legitimacy on complaining afterwards. This is the reason why we badly need someone like lauda to clean this place.

I will send a "merit" on your behalf, I agree that he made a good analysis.Glad you started this thread--ironically, I would give OP some merit but I ran out of them. By the way, I learned that the exchange and chat of telegrams on the anonymous sale of "merits" is already working. I'll try to make an announcement about this on the weekend. I feel that there will be many new contenders for negative labels. It is really funny to see members repeating the abuse even after so many cases being reported. Looks like they are not worried of consequences and have multiple accounts or so. It is time for harsh decisions like banning such accounts abusing merit repetitively. I don't care the short term dip. Actually I will take advantage of this to grasp more KEY. I don't like the way the ICO is handled. I don't see any reason any decent exchange will list it at this stage. I agree with your sentiment, but doesn't the necessity to report posts that have earned merits for no reason mean that the merit system is not working? If we still have to manually report shitposts, why do we have merits then? I agree with hilarious here--some of these idiots may not even realize they have to get merits, and that churning out the shitposts isn't enough these days. No surprise there, since none of them read and may not have read all the merit threads. Who knows. Thanks to hilarious for nuking him. It's probably only one account of many that that guyuses, but it's still helpful that it's banned. |
