How do you plan on preventing people from focusing on just making these scenarios happen?

maybe scenarios is not the correct word, maybe "events" (transactions)? (edited)...

but--- the 2 events currently are:

• Death (player will drop coins he has looted if he has not returned them to the "bank")
• Player returns looted coins to the bank.

part is probably not necessary, if players delay their move to see other player's move first they would risk
missing their move, when next POW block is generated before they expect it.

yep this is why we have left it for now... like you said, if someone waits too long they risk missing a move

miners can mine coins too.. but the majority of the coins will come from the game.. and "taxes" will be given to miners.. so mining will still be good to get coins (except maybe the first couple of hundred blocks)

We tested merged mining with the early chronoking prototype thanks to the help of Eligius pool... hopefully if it's ok they may accept this version.. if so we will keep as SHA256, so will be asic mine-able.

we can do dice roll DnD style.. but it won't be in huntercoin..

Huntercoin is going to be very simple, and very very slow. Getting coins is going to be time consuming... maybe you will create 20 characters, point/click a harvest nodes for each of them, then go afk for an hour or 2, then come back and send him to go somewhere else (or the bank)... this is assuming you don't get attacked and robbed by bandits

and why? think about that this is a strategic map.. and the aim is "mining" coins (albeit manually [until some bots maybe will take over?]).. also  "being able to easily monopolise" and the opposite "never getting killed" (trapped?) needs to be thought about..

my map making skills are not the best.. but it should look better than a chess board .. we don't want to make it complex (chronokings may have a giant map).

251 x 251 (tiles) (4 hours to cross the board.. slow game) 502x502 Map
4 Colours (RED, GREEN, BLUE, YELLOW) - spawn locations on the sides.
You cannot attack your own colour.
Chat is integrated (can chat once per block per character)
Banks in the corners (we are still debating 2 Banks or 4)..
Each of the "pocket" areas will generate coins...
The current idea is 50 coins per block... 5 Coins go to the miner, 45 coins go into the game... if someone is killed without banking, the miner gets 5-10% of the coins.. when a player banks the miner receives 10-20% of the coins -- (TBD)
The Central area will generate 10 coins per block.. the rest 1 to 3 c/b.

Select Multiple characters at once.. (to be able to transfer all characters, move all characters or set reward address)
Pathing
1 attack kills the enemy.. at first it sounds like a numbers game.. but 1 player cannot really control more than x players without being in a "team".. also there is the possibility of "leeches" ,people of the same colour who leech your harvest areas.. bots may be a problem eventually.. but we can ad some more complexity/ability to make it harder for them).

When the miner mines a block he will get 5 coins, like normal.. also A Total of 45 other coins will spawn in random locations in the areas on the map... the player walks over these coins and they go into that characters balance (not normal wallet)..
The player needs to take them to a bank (alive) to convert them to normal crypto currency..

There is nothing to spend in the game.. you pick up coins and cash them in (without getting robbed)...

It may be better to say:

5 Coins per block go to the miner
45 Coins per blocks worth of Ore spawn in the game.. in order to Smelt this Ore into coins, the player needs to bring them to the bank..

I also like Map number 2.. the 2 choke points would be good areas to "camp".. we are just a bit worried that the entire central area could be controlled... if we used Map 2, there would be only 2 banks in the opposite corners of the entrance to the centre square areas.. so it would be a massive long journey to get the coins from centre to the bank..

probably not animated.. maybe there can be 2 different sprites for facing left ..

I did a 'git pull' and I noticed something of a problem when the change came.
It reported    

I did a 'git diff' and I see that:

GetDataDir() now never gets called.   It seems like it is something you need for new installs.



EDIT: the command was 'git diff -r f51c05c 2fb5b16'
EDIT: Is 2fb5b16 really the HEAD?  I have used other revision systems before.  Should 'git pull && git checkout' be enough to update the sources?

The git diff command seems to work backwards to what I expected.  The created diff was a reverse diff of the last change. :)

Changes Include:

Player (NAME) Cost is now much more expensive - 1 HUC - When you create a player it will create 3 Characters, labelled snailbrain, snailbrain.1, snailbrain.2 (1 name = multiple characters, to try to reduce number of transactions). Characters in a "name" will be queued then the user will click "GO" to initiate the move/transaction for all characters.
If a character dies, he will die permanently - (you would have 1 less character). If your MAIN character dies, i.e. snailbrain, then ALL your characters in that name will die. Protect your main character.
Auto Attack has been removed (for now)
Destruct has been Added - This will auto destruct your character and any surrounding enemies (we may amend this to having a 10-25% chance of killing friendlies). If a main Character Destructs, he will destroy a larger Radius (but all your characters under that name will be killed).
Moving Many characters or chatting will incur transaction fees.
HEARTS added to the Map - If you collect a Heart on the map, that name will gain 1 extra character, each Name can hold/control up to 50 Characters (expect higher transaction fees).
Algo is more likely to be Script (Merged Mined with LTC or probably ANY other script coin). This is not entirely set yet. If we get any support from some big sha256 pools we MAY stay with it.
Retarget Algo may retarget every block.

Crown of Fortune - 1 Item on the map, of which a character can collect. He/She will receive 0.25 HUCs per block until he is killed or banks.. If he is killed he will drop the crown at his feet, and it can be picked up by someone else. The crown will drop if the character enters the Spawn/Bank Area.

Dual Algo - Huntercoin is mined by both SHA256 and Scrypt Miners (as well as Human). PoW/PoW/PoW (if human is PoW). Each algo targets 2 minute blocks, averaging 1 minute per block. Set algo=scrypt in huntercoin.conf to choose which algo you wish to mine.
Both Algos can be Merge Mined with compatible cryptos

Have a read at the game info. on the release thread, mined coins are a low % of coins, the majority will be collected ingame. Without looking I think it was 20%/80% ?

This is good as it means pointing my ASIC at it won't do me much good, (so I won't) and we won't have another stupid arms race. Anyone can get coins if they are prepared to work for them on a pretty level playing field. It's more fun than a box of fans sitting in the corner too ;)

It does not sync beyond 5004 blocks for me.

Running 2 wallets, they both show another blockcount (24 blocks difference), after deleting everything and resyncing. So there is a fork in a fork in a fork  ???

I'm out... all mined coins gone... client runs at 100% CPU time and now the new wallet crashes every 10-15 minutes... It's the only wallet that does this so it must be borked...

I'll wait for a fix and/or a relaunch, this just sucks.

you was probably on one of the wrong forks if you lost coins

should have "stuck with it" like everyone else did

fix was ready a few hours after launch, all the coins on the map had not been mined when everyone synced

The problem was just to re-org --  when players had died in one reality, but then came back to life in the correct reality

Is there any chance that the wallet will ever be fixed? How is a person to play the game when the wallet freezes literally every 5 seconds, and the freeze lasts 5-10 seconds? Are you in league with people who make blood pressure drugs, since you clearly intend for people to go insane while trying to play? There are comments all over about the wallet freezing, and yet no solutions....

The solution is quite literally to install a form of linux, Windows uses the file-system NTFS, it is incredibly inneficient for these kinds of things.
If you have an SSD, it isn't so bad, but on linux, the client runs smoothly.

An off topic and necro post here. Thought I would mention to various coins that mergemining.com has included them in the pool groupings for auxpow. Not sure how many pools there are. May or may not be welcome news. Hopefully welcome. :) Hopefully the coin isn't dead. Would be a shame to remove it from the listing.
