You should usually keep it off exchange wallets since they may get hacked and lose your money. If you don't own the private keys to your coins, they're essentially not yours.

You definitely should use other wallets for your BTC/alt coins. Consider even buying a hardware wallet such as a Trezor or Ledger Nano seeing as you have 4-5K of crypto.

Don't keep all of your savings on exchange wallets as I'm sure you're aware these tend to be hacked periodically. Only keep your standard trading volume on the exchange, and move the rest to a private wallet. Also, exchanges tend to ramp up the transactions fees, so it's in your best interest in the long run.

This is really bad idea to hold your money at exchanger wallet. If you have coin more then 1k$ you should bout ledger nano s . this is best cold wallet (google it and you will find everything)
Exchangers very offen hack.

Not only are you at risk of your funds being stolen from your account being compromised, but you are also at the mercy of if the exchange is able to pay out all the crypto people are holding on it and the risk of the exchange itself being hacked

better kept in private wallet only, will be more secure. because only you can open with private key, or keystore that you have saved yourself. with it, more security is guaranteed.

This may happen to beginners but as long as you secure your wallet no one will be able to steal your assets.
Many options of wallet that can be used.

Yes we should be so. Who does not fear somebody who sees your acoount, sees your transactions and who could eventually use your identity for mischiefs? And most of all the money you have will be his own. Of course nobody wants it that way. This idea instill fear among digicoin holders. They should be stopped to make the digital market safe for every transactions and for it to have progress as we are now trying to consider digital coins as part of our currencies.

They say if you don't have the private keys you don't own the coins. Guess what, on an exchange you get no private keys, so you're at the mercy of the exchange operators to get the coins you think you own.

Are they safe? Who can answer on that question? When there is not any one who can
answer on that question that you need to make your own decision to trust some one or
not?

They say if you don't have the private keys you don't own the coins. Guess what, on an exchange you get no private keys, so you're at the mercy of the exchange operators to get the coins you think you own.

Exchange`s earns money and we think they are safe cause they depends from security of their customers.
If they are not secure no one would use them. But, there is always that but, if you do not posses private
keys then you are in mercy of some one who does! I like to keep my coins with me safe! I have the most trust
in myself, people should give it a thought and to think whom they trust and how much, when they answer on
that they will know where to keep coins.

Yeah, keep it in cold storage like everyone is saying. Have a password book for all the exchanges and make sure each password is different well over 13 characters with combinations of symbols numbers and capitalization, never use the same password twice and 2FA everything (save your 2FA codes too).

do not keep all your assets in the exchanger, save it in your private wallet. judging by your title maybe I'm more afraid of scammers than hackers.

There are multiple risks with exchanges ...

1)  The exchange could get hacked ... here, your assets get stolen, no fault of yours, and there is nothing you can do about it.
2)  Your computer could be hacked ... a keyboard logger could steal your user name and password.  With a hardware wallet, your assets are mostly "air gapped" from local hacking risk.
3)  The exchange could go bankrupt and simply disappear with your coins ... it's unlikely if you us a large exchange, but it could happen, especially if there is a major crash and you we find out some "off the block" exchanges were "borrowing" from their customers.

If you have, or want to amass, a large crypto holding, a hardware wallet or keeping your coins on your desktop (with encrypted wallets and virus protection) is probably better than an exchange.  Also, if you want to be a holder and not a trader, look into "paper wallets".  It's another way to "air gap" your holdings.

Most of my altcoins are in exchangers too, would it be safer if I transfer it on MEW from exchangers? I always activate my 2FA on these exchangers though so I am confident that it is somehow safe.

No matter how strong our password and very well protected our wallet is, the best hackers and scammers will always find their, which is why it is advisable to cash out or spread your coins to a variety of crypto wallet be it online or paper wallet to be safe just in case.

Your coins are safe as long as you have your private keys are very safe with you. Be vigilant when you are joining sites that you should double check if you are still in their original site, avoid phishing in which will require your private keys and password and finally limit you airdrop affiliations because you might wrongly input the private keys instead of your wallet address.

this depends on how secure the exchanger you use, but my advice you should move the coin that you have from the exchanger to the private wallet, because there are many large exchangers that successfully hacked by hackers, eg etherdelta who have several times experienced it, and the loss is us the users

Use exchanges only when you are trading, otherwise move into paper wallet or hardware wallet (trezor or ledger wallet).

If you are trading use trusted exchanges like bittrex & binance or even poloniex with 2-factor authentication on your account.

--
Notes:
1. 2-factor authentication is very very very important

2. when you backing up any important keys online try to hide 1/2 letters/words,
e.g (key: 56dfd4fd654fd54f6d4f4ds4 - to:  56dfd4fd654fd54f6d4f4dxx)  hit = my first smartphone or any

3. when you creating any important key e.g myetherwallet or setting up 2-factor authentication on your account, you should disable all browser extensions and open "new incognito window" on your browser.

I have already read the ideas written up to now and the majority say that you should not keep the money there. If the exchanges are not so respectable, how are you depositing money there? You can reliable it. So if hackers knows how can to hack it, they can hack the wallet which with the private key.

There is always a risk factor in every game like crypto investment and trading, hackers and scammers are our number enemy here. Everything that is related online we are prone to hack and scams,it is all about on how to play safe. There are no any reliable exchange site that are 100 % hack proof, so don't put everything in one basket.

I do not recommend you to keep it in the exchange wallet because it's in my opinion very dangerous to hackers. it's better if you invest long-term you keep it in your personal wallet. suppose excodus wallet, coinomi, blockchain, and myetherwallet. and guard it to his security.

I think the money is not a large number, so you don't need to worry too much about, if you are afraid to security issues, then put these tokens in the exchange is a relatively safe, do not need to use hardware wallet.

I agree with you, putting everything asset in one basket would the worst case scenario if it happens to be hacked. So, we better find the best solutions to secure our asset which I think everyone here is what they are sharing about.

You know the current scenario here in the online world. Scammers and hackers are always around surrounding us, every ready to snatch anything precious to us the moment we stay too lax. That, we cannot avoid. That is why we have to use all possible means so that our assets will not be wasted falling on the hands of the thieves. I think your altcoins are pretty safe. But if you are not planning to actively trade them, you may consider trying some hard wallets such as Nano Ledger and Trezor.

If you do not trade daily with your coins, it is better to bring them out with the stock exchange. It is not safe to store coins on stock exchanges. An example of you is Mt.gox, btc-e. It is better to store coins on a hardware purse. This is either Ledger Nano, or Trezor. And most importantly, do not show your private key to anyone.

Better be sure to keep all your wallets and private keys secure and safe. Scammers are everywhere and their just waiting for their next victims. Avoin clicking aby suspicious links. Try not to store all your earnings in any exchhange because it is too risky. Also, using nano pedger would also help to make your earnings more secured.

Any e-wallet is not safe. I think that it's much safer to store on the exchanges. Or create many wallets and store all data on a USB flash drive

It is right to be afraid of scammers or hackers, just imagine your digital assets wiped clean in a flash - that would be the worst day ever in your crypto experience.
So better be more secure than ever. You can choose from a number of options for security purposes, like having a hardware wallet using a USB or you can have a keystore with encryption. Though it was recommended to have a hardware wallet to access your account. Since entering your pin or password in a website is relatively less secure.
So stay safe

If I think to be more secure, I suggest you use Anther's wallet. so you do not have to worry about the security of your money. I myself use Anther's wallet to secure my money. not only me who use it. most people also use Anther's wallet.

Are you constantly trading with the cryptocurrencies you have on the exchange?  If you are, then it should be okay to keep them on there if it's a reputable exchange such as Bittrex, Poloniex, Binance and similar ones.  It's good that you have 2FA activated.  If you are not doing any trades, I would recommend moving your coins to your personal wallet.

The choice should come down to the frequency of your trading. If you are making multiple buys and sells a day then it is pointless and costly not to mention time consuming to send you funds to and from an locally stored wallet each time. If you just occasionally buy and sell then you would be much better keeping your funds on your own computer or on a hardward wallet such as a Ledger.

Keeping your funds and coins in an exchange wallet too long is not advised. This is okay if you are a day or week trader because money recirculates in your wallet but if you are going to hold your coins for a long time in an exchange wallet, I suggest that you use hardware wallet.

I think every person who has large amount of coins in their wallet is afraid of scammers and hackers. But if you securely hide your private keys and doesnt use one password on all your accounts in your wallet, you are safe. There is no need to be paranoid about hackers. Hackers will take too long to know your password or private key.

In the last line that what you wrote that you have everything in strong way then I don't think that you should take any panic in your mind to have your bitcoin and another crypto in your exchange account .Here my strong recommendation for you is to have antivirus in your pc Because sometimes hackers execute Thier keylogger software with much ease and can hack .
But here even with all type of security you should not think that you are 100% secure always take care that whether anyone trying to reach you or anyone trying to caught your details .
And also I strongly recommend you that don't go for any type of the cloud mining contract platform and investment site for high payout Because those are only scam .

Exchange wallets are, of course, for the most risky, keep on the hardware wallets for a long time, and you will also win. Well and still no one is immune from hacking, we are responsible for our money and we need to do all kinds of hindrances ourselves for hackers.

it is a good example for us to secure our account with all we can do and I hope that he can also increase his level too to secure his account. I wonder which exchanges that he keep his coins. and if he keeps his coin in poloniex, bittrex, then he is safe and doesn't have to be afraid. but if he still afraid about this, I think he can move his coin to another wallet that could keep many wallets which is a multi wallet that I am afraid that he cannot keep all of his coins because until now, I cannot find a multi wallet that could keep all of the cryptocurrency. maybe he can use two or three a multi wallet to keep all of his coin.

Withdraw your money from the stock exchange. Well, you what? Money on the stock exchange is not your money. At that moment, money belongs to the exchange. Scammers will hack the exchange = take everything from the stock exchange. They will not even climb into your wallet, scammers do not need it. They will get access through the exchange. Keep your money in your purses. It's much safer.

The #1 reason why people say don't store stuff on an exchange wallet is because you are not in control of your seed/key.
Practically speaking though, if you have all of those things enabled, it is highly unlikely that you will get funds stolen even if the website got hacked.
Of course, there could always be an inside job then no matter what you do you will get screwed.

So rather than debate whether you will get hacked or not, why don't you be more practical?
It seems like it is pretty stressful for you to worry about leaving stuff on exchanges, so why not get rid of that worry and move them out?

For me, I always keep a certain amount on an exchange so I can actively trade and take advantage of pumps and what not.
But beyond that set amount, I always move it to my ledger.
You should look into it, they are actually really cheap.

No one can stay in the position of hackers, even hackers attacking even the police department or the defense department, and I've had pirates attacking the police station and taking over. valuable information, the news has been broadcast to the social network is also very much, now hackers have a lot and very active, so we need to be careful

you're right to be afraid as it's a real threat. The best option is to purchase hardware wallet like trezor or ledger and store it there, make proper back up. It will never be safe online.

It's best to include the coins on myetherwallet if the project uses ETH's smart contract and other projects using their own wallet. Don't hold property on the exchanges

If your not planning in trading them better kept it in your own wallet with your own private keys on it, it's much safer and risk free. In exchanges nobody can tell when that specific exchange will get into some trouble or problem and risking your coins with them.

Do not put all your financial savings on those exchange wallets for the reason that there will always be that possibility that it will get hacked. Just store an amount which you are okay to lose, and move everything else to a private wallet.

You can use metamask extension its a protection for your private keys when you are using dex or decentralized exchanges, then buy hardwallet because it has some extra security feature which you can recover your wallet when you lost it using the recovery seed.

If you are actively trading then stay on your exchange. But if you are a Long HODL you better put your crypto in an offline wallet. store your private keys safely and in duplicate copies. do not store you private keys on computers with internet. write it on a paper or store it on usb.

Ledger is one of the safest hardware available also.

Do not let anyone know our account password or other security code.

As long as you keep your private keys and passwords in safe place, you are secured. If you visited sites that are suspicious and may be phishing sites, then you are at risks.
I would suggest, make another wallet so that you have alternatives. As they say, do not put all your eggs in one basket.

If you're not going to daytrading it and make it as your long term holding, you better put your altcoins into your personal wallet especially offline wallet. At least don't put all of them on the exchange wallet. There's no guarantee that the exchange won't be hacked.

I partially agree with you here. The Ledger Nano S is indeed one of the best ways to secure our bitcoins, but saving our money on an exchange is far from safe. For example, several million dollars worth NEM was stolen from a crypto exchange which potentially screwed many big whales who invested and stored their coins on that exchange. Storing our coins on an exchange is convenient, but risky which I feel is not worth it. Desktop wallets or online wallets like MEW are much safer in this regard which is why I recommend not storing your coins on any exchange.

Scammer should be feared more than hackers! Hackers are not likely to pick on your individual account. Hackers will also have to go through a lots of hard work to brute force your account if it is even possible for them to do so. Follow standard practice of keeping your account safe and you should be okay.

Nope, as long as your coin is on others (Meaning you are not the coin holder), you are not safe.

It's generally a good idea to store your Bitcoins in a wallet where you control the private keys, rather than on an exchange where they control the private keys and could go out of business or be lost. But different wallets offer different levels of protection. And different exchanges offer different levels of protection. Some wallets include peer-to-peer trading functionality today. And, in the future, some exchanges will offer decentralized trading so that you can trade directly from your wallet and private keys that you control.

You shouldnt be afraid  because if you have a nice antvirus+ malwarebytes your computer would be secured,if you still have doubts with your computer's security you should get some hardwallet because these wallets will secure your coins even if your computer has been infected, there will no chance that these malware would steal your private keys because hardwallets has built in private keys.

The first rule of crypto world is to never keep your coins on an exchange. If you don’t have the private keys to your coins, then you don’t own it. Mt gox is one of the biggest example of why your coins shouldn’t be stored on an exchange or the recent bitgrail fiasco. It doesn’t matters if you enable 2FA or how long your password is, if the hot wallet of an exchange gets hacked, the 2FA isn’t going to help.

Hacker and the scammer are only normal in this kind of job or in this kind of world because hackers and scammers have one only goals. They steal your earnings or profit just to have it. They do anything just to steal your money. And there are ways how to  prevent it. For hackers make sure that your password is really strong consist of uppercase and lowercase letters and numbers you may use a symbol too if you want and don't click for the untrastable link. For the scammer. Just do research in your buyer or seller

this depends on how secure the exchanger you use, but my advice you should move the coin that you have from the exchanger to the private wallet, because there are many large exchangers that successfully hacked by hackers, eg etherdelta who have several times experienced it, and the loss is us the users

Most of us afraid of hackers because we need the security of our acount especially in dealing with business and also online transaction.

I think as long as we can protect our account from the attacker and we can keep safe the account then we don't have to be afraid with the hackers that we should know that there is no 100% guarantee that our account will be safe. and if we have done every way that we need to protect our account, then it's mean our account is safe but we still need to check the account and change the password or else in other time.

I think every person who has large amount of coins in their wallet is afraid of scammers and hackers. But if you securely hide your private keys and doesnt use one password on all your accounts in your wallet, you are safe. There is no need to be paranoid about hackers. Hackers will take too long to know your password or private key.
Being afraid will not help you in staying away from the scammers and hackers and that you actually need to do something in order to stay away from such kind of people and to keep your money safe. You can’t stop the hackers from doing hacking or thing like that. You actually need to take enough of the precautions which cannot let the hackers and scammers to grab your money.

To be afraid of hackers is a good thing (they are thieves...) but only if the fear lead you to take the right security measures.
Nothing is 100% safe online, and any protection can be cracked, but if you take the right measures, usually a hacker will look for an easier target.

And yes,I have 100 % secured with email, number ,long password and 2FA but im still afraid
Don't keep all your coin on one purse-it's a risk, especially if it's a purse on the exchange. ;)
All that I buy for a long time I hold on the official purse of the coin.

Don't be afraid as long as no one know your private key, there's nothing can happen. I suggest to you to avoid them is by telling to anyone your personal information especially when your in crypto world, also to not be get hack its better if you have wallet to put your coin there, but choose wallet wisely.

The rule # 1 of preventing your coins from scammers is not to trust any links having something to do with your MEW/other wallets immediately. Checking who the sender is should be every crypto enthusiast's daily routine.

Everyone is afraid to be hacked and to be scammed. I think one of the reasons behind this is, they want to see the outcome of their hardwork.

You don't have to be afraid, just make sure you upload funds into exchanges which you require to trade and store coins in your own wallets. As you are good with 2FA so you'll be fine.

Nobody doesn't want to have their accounts hacked by someone. Of course, you can somehow prevent that to happen if we will just be very careful with our accounts and be vigilant at all times.

2FA is one of the way to not easily hack our account, I have a friend experience hack her account but she recover it fast then after that she use now the 2FA so the hacker now hard to hack her account.

I think your money will be safer if kept in your personal wallet, and do not worry too much. you just have to secure your wallet, do not torture yourself with a thought that, afraid of losing.

Keeping money on exchange is risky. You should buy a hardware wallet to do it. Hacking and spamming is very common in bitcoin and other cryptocurrencies if you are not secure enough.

Mostly hackers now and phishing site's are rampant they disguise look a like a  MEW wallet, but when you look closely there is differrent in the letters,so we must be carefull thats why we afraid to those hackers or scamers because we do not know there true capabilities on how they hack our coin even without knowing our private key, even we put a 2FA is not  an assurance that our coins is secure unles we buy a ledger nano s for storing our coins.
It is not only you who is afraid of hackers, in fact every single person out of is having this fear in his heart and mind and that will never end.

The only thing which can help us is to study as much as we can regarding the hacking techniques like what all are the possible ways using which hackers can harm you or can take away your money. After that, you need to take certain precautionary measures to stay away from them.

Any point of centralization is prone to attack, so better use your own wallet
If you really concern about security and want to hodl for long time, use paper wallet and safe it in your cabinet

Any exchange may close down tomorrow. For good. And neither 2FA, nor long password will ever help you have your money back. It's like you keep your money in your neighbour's wallet. He may be a nice guy actually, but he also may leave for ever every day with all you have.

I myself have experienced being hacked. My wallet got hacked by an evil and heartless creature and took all my money from a bounty campaign. It was supposed to be my first time to be paid for joining signature and facebook campaigns. Just 3 hours after it was transferred to my personal wallet its gone. Now, i will be extra careful with my wallet to avoid reoccurrence. I am not just scared of scammers and hackers, i hate them.

It seems to me that you need to be more careful in choosing a site. Where you store your personal data or your purses. Apparently, the defense was weak, if some hacker got access to them.

That's right, you're afraid ! So you will be more focused on all the action! But keeping the coins anyway is not recommended on the exchangers, get yourself a 2 cool wallet and keep your coins there. If you trade daily, you need to allocate the amount that you allocate to this direction on the exchanger.

People have their preferences but one of my personal preferences is holding my own private keys. When you hold your own keys it means you don't have to worry about some exchange getting hacked. Here is an example of a trading platform that allows you to trade from exchange to exchange while still holding your private keys.
