You can find some outstanding project and voluntarily translate its ANN thread or whitepaper. After accumulating a few such thread, you can start applying for other translation bounty.

that's right! because no one will accept you if you don't have any past works or portfolio, so all you can do is translate threads without any payments. but the competition in translation campaign is very high so I doubt you will be able to be accepted right away.

Start doing translation for free first, this would be like an example of your work. After doing one try to apply on a not so known campaigns where other translators would not know about it so you can be chosen. Keep doing that to gain more on your portfolio then if you have many experience try to join big projects.

Start doing translation by finding a one pager and ask the Bounty manager to let you translate their one pager for free. After so you try to fin campaign that is not so known by other bigtime translators so you would be chosen easily and have more experience. Collect experience and try to join bigger projects.

It's really hard to gain first experience in translation campaign, reserving places is like competition. I will advice to take cheap ones to start with and then iw would be easier for you because bounty managers in most situations will prefer you instead of newbies.

Before you want to work on this project, you should first see if there are any participants who have registered with the same language as you or not. Because if you do not see, your work will be in vain. I think experience is necessary for the assessment of managers to translate campaigns. My suggestion, if there is a new project, you should hurry to register it before it's too late .

The project that accept on newbie in translation is so rarely they need an experience first before they will accept you and you need to volunteer for you to have an experience on translating project and need to have portfolio, but I read on this forum that bountyhive is accepting translator but you need is to have a good quality on translating project or else they will not pay you.

You can find some outstanding project and voluntarily translate its ANN thread or whitepaper. After accumulating a few such thread, you can start applying for other translation bounty.

I agree with you because nowadays they choose a well-experience people to translate their ann thread, bounty and whitepaper, you cannot find project that accept newbie.

Ohh I think that is a great idea thank you for that sir. But the chances of being a translator in a project is very small, hopefully I can find some that doesn't require me to have a portfolio of my past works.

Thank you for the tip sir, it really help my decision making on what should I do next because I really wanted to try translation campaigns but as of now I don't have any portfolio and past works in my account that is why I think it will be hard for me to be accepted in some bounties.

You don't necessarily need a portfolio, most bounty managers will simply accept the first candidate that makes their application. Just ensure that your English, and your other language have good spelling, grammar and language, so that when they check through your post history they will see that you're capable of doing the job.

Ohh I see, thank you for that tip because I am really doubtful right now if I should go and translate some whitepapers and other bounty stuffs but I don't have past works. Hopefull I can find one, if you have any suggestion where to find bounty that doesn't require past works please feel free to reply or pm me, thank you sir! :)

Yes I think that is the first thing to know whether I have competitors or none, because that will be my fortune if I will be accepted or not if I will translate something, I am planning to start my translation this april and may I hope I will have better experience. What is the sites to look out for tutorial when translating and making ann and whitepaper thread?

But it is very rare nowadays, those bounty managers that are choosing the no experienced one to the experienced one. I think that will be my problem in finding the bounty to be translated.

P.S. What links or sites should I look to for if I will start my first translation so that I will master the art of translating?

Just put your application in any translation bounty you can find. You will get your break someday. There are lots of translation out there, not all can be filled with experienced translator. Do not mind the pay, gather experience and build up your portfolio. Do it just like when you are applying a job in a traditional office. You'll get higher pay as your portfolio improves.

I do understand how to do ANN translation, but  can you please tell if you know what are the standards for doing white paper translation? As I understand you have to open white paper in Photoshop, erase old text without damaging the pictures using clone stamp tool, and then put there your text, and after that you have to save that white paper on google disc, right?

Then you can first post a post, then free help people to translate ANN threads and white papers.
Then you can use these historical experiences to participate in the translation task of the various bounty threads.

You do not need a portfolio. I saw many people who were confirmed without examples of translation. Most importantly, choose a good company manager with a high trust rating. So you have more chances that you will be paid and you will not work for free. Just calculate how much you will receive for the translation. Since making a translation for a few cents is absolutely not profitable and rather humiliating in my opinion.

Are you a professional translator in real life, did you finish a School/Faculty/University of Philology or any other of a sort? If you are, you can post certificates for the degrees you're holding (e.g. diplomas) and a portfolio of your real life translations (books, docs, patents, projects done for the agencies, etc.) or your LinkedIn profile link with the portfolio, so that they can check your CV. I did that when I was a junior member and never had any problem when applying for a job here.

LOL everyone has started with nothing, that is not the issue but the quality of translation that you had,if you arent a native speaker morelikely your entries will be rejected because you need to be fluent with the language you are translating so that these campaign managers will be pleased,do not talk things you arent aware of because you dont have any idea how these bounties work.

In many cases you don't even need a portfolio to begin translating for campaigns, just make sure you're one of the first applicants and you're likely to be selected. Otherwise, you can simply translate a few articles and use those for the beginning of your portfolio. So long as the manager can see that both your English and your other language are good, then you'll probably be hired. The most important thing is applying early.

Yes, you simply modify the supplied image. Many bounties will even provide you a .psd if you ask for it.

Once that's complete, check the thread and see how they want it uploaded, if there is no information there, either PM it to the manager after uploading to Google Drive, or post a link in the thread. Remember to check back later to ensure it's been approved.

The project needs good translations so you have to meet the requirements of the new project they accept. Try to select good projects so that you can participate in the translation campaign and receive rewards corresponding to your abilities.

this one is right, since translation isnt that easy job, having more credentials may help you through, and those free translation that you will provide for them will be your promoter, since if they find you good enough recommendations will follows next, and those campaign manager mostly has many campaign in future, they will be you first costumer

as long as you will apply first and do the job much more earlier than other you will be accepted
usually I translated one of the white papers they have and I did not make it on time because someone took to send and do that earlier than mine .

and you can find ICO without having their needed portfolio , self experience is the best teacher so go explore hahaha .

I see that your account rating is still a novice, and general translation activities require acceptance of ratings above the membership level. Of course, you can now understand the translation activities of some of the project's bounty threads. When your account is upgraded, you can try it out.

You can look for some items in the Announcements section and the bounty section of the forum to see if it is good or bad, and then try to apply for its translation activities. There are generally detailed requirements in the thread, and you must strictly follow.

I think it is not based on the rank or what my rank is, if I have a portfolio, the bounty manager will see my translations and from their he can decide whether to accept me or not, I think ranks are disregarded, it is judged by how good you are as a translator. :)

But the business doesn't go with that kind of thing because this is business, that is why they are looking for skilled translators so that their campaign or bounty will be promoted very well and by that they will have an advantage to other bounties, unlike me who doesn't have any experience, it will be really hard for me to be accepted in translation campaigns

Yes you are somewhat correct and thank you for your advice, you can easily say that but the truth is it is very hard to be accepted even without payments because some bounties are really trying to get some skilled translators for their campaign to be promoted very well and that is one of the disadvantages I have because I don't have any experience yet.

Hi I just wanna know how to start my first translation? I don't have yet portfolio and past works. What should i do so that I will start my first one? Thank you.
First find some ICO's that offer translation campaigns that accepts your mother language and be sure that you really are fluent and precise. Also find some ICO's that doesn't require past works because some ICO's that are starting doesn't require your past works so it would be an opportunity to join in their translation campaigns to start with.

The fluency on the mother language is given but the fact that you are really trying your very best to get accepted in a campaign and you cannot join because you dont have portfolio is the real problem here in translations campaign, and also there are many people who are really into translation campaigns that is why you really have many competitors.

Most of the people here are really advising you to try translations of the not so well known bounties first and be risky enough to accept the work even without payment from there you can get your first portfolio and I think that is the best way to do it. Start sacrificing because in the end it will be worth it because I know that you just have to sacrifice first for you to keep it going.

You don't necessarily need a portfolio, most bounty managers will simply accept the first candidate that makes their application. Just ensure that your English, and your other language have good spelling, grammar and language, so that when they check through your post history they will see that you're capable of doing the job.
I think you knew how to do it precisely that is also the ones that are being taught to me by my friends on how to translate whitepapers and some other fields in the industry and I think that you are on the right track. You just have to keep improving and improving your skills so that you can translate many.

You should find a campaign that is willing to give you atleast 1 page to translate for free so you can use it as your past works. You can talk to the manager about your concern.
Oh really? There are managers that can be negotiated by that case? If that so I will surely find many managers about that, to translate some sort of papers or atleast 1 page and by that I will be able to put it in my portfolio and by that I can start working on highly or well known companies.

It's really hard to join the translation campaigns. The users who translate for each language are obvious. If you want to translate first they want to look at your portfolio. So it is very difficult to get started, experienced people can get work easier :)

If you want to have some good review,do translations for free if you got goo feedback you will be known few months fro, now translate projects for free so that these managers will see how you do work, and if they does want you to get into the boat you will be easily going to have name in bitcointalk and that is for sure because managers have influencers.

It is very hard to find a translation campaign even if you have a portfolio  :'(

Not if you're translating a language that's in demand. Obviously if you're translating the most abstract language, that nearly nobody speaks, e.g. Swahili or something that's only 2nd language status, e.g. Dutch. Then there is pretty much no need to pay for such a small audience base.

If you want to translate project documents as work and earnings, then there is no point in doing it for free. Even at the very first time. Make a competent proposal and convince the customer that you will do the work best.

There's alot of translation Campaign, Be sure to be more competitive and no one will use google translate or else they will track you and not giving you a bounty rewards. for now you must join in signature campaign and get more rewards.

Doesn't really give any information on how to be more competitive, so here's my advice;

1. Get in early, this is the absolute most important point. Normally most bounty managers will select the first applicant for a language
2. Target a low competition language if possible, e.g. Mandarin or Japanese
3. Make sure your portfolio is easy to access, and doesn't take too long to go through, as they will just skip over it otherwise
