well, I've read it and the centra team see they will be discussing tomorrow and will soon be making their own event news, we are sure many holders who keep a lot of CTR and are now confused

This is probably the end of the Centra project and Centra community. Prices have dropped by -70% in just one day, and this is a terrible thing. I just want to give condolences to Centra keepers at this time because maybe this is the last time you can see Centra at this price.

My condolences to CTR hodlers - especially those who where mislead by guys like Mayweather and Suppoman - Suppoman, especially, shilled the living daylights out of this. This is really unfortunate, CTR has been listed on many popular exchanges, it even listed on Binance. I have some of them, but then I sold on last January, the first time crypto market crash. Not because the I don't believe in their project, its purely because of the whole market crash.  Even I was planning to reinvest on CTR when market getting better, but then the this is the news, very unfortunate.

Really? I never expect that centra is a scam! I am planning to invest in CTR with my friends because we've thought it will become the token of the year but it seems like it was a scam. It is my honor to knows it before we lend our money. Thanks for the information buddy! Now, we are far from getting lose and I hope also that the CTR hodlers will recover from their great loss.

I've read this and it's all because of money so who's to blame? all teams have to maintain the trust of the clients but they run away from the project itself or commit fraud, hopefully this also makes the lesson for all ICO participants to be more careful before investing

Fun fact: Centra was subpoenaed by the SEC on February 9. The company's bank accounts were cleared out and all employees had been fired by March 30. One of the co-founders had a ticket to leave the US on April 1 but he was arrested before parting.

Another controversy for Floyd Mayweather but this time is about fraud and scam endorsement. If he invest to this ICO then this will be a double knock out lose for him because he will lost his investments and the same time his influence will be reduce and damage too in which some people will not believe to his next endorsements and projects anymore. This will be a lesson to those victims of this ICO that they should not rely to the celebrity endorsement only but they should review the projects very carefully because their capital is at risk.

He did not invest a single cent in Centra. He was paid with cash for the photos with the card, it was told earlier. What would you expect from a project if they were locking each of their topics here on Bitcointalk, deleted all telegram and slack channels a long time ago? And what would you expect from a guy who does not know how to fucking read.

Not only kucoin, But binance already announced to delist centra token as fast as possible and I think that the major exchange that listed CTR in the platform will be delisted CTR token from there.
CTR token is useless right now. Funds have taken by US authorities, and every investor can try to make contact with US authorities to get back their funds.

You can trust the project don't see it all the same henceforth Stox has no problem at all it was regulated unlike centra that has been proved a malicious program. Another is celebrity like Mayweather was paid for advertisement on Centra and not having here opposed as one of the members of that said program or company.

Yeah it was a really crazy candle that we saw. I call it the candle of doom  :o :o :o It was really crazy how fast people started to dump after they heard about the bad news. I am happy that I never bought CTR.

How the hell people pull out 300% pump on this CTR today if this is a scam and going to be delisted on Binance. I dont understand this how this is possible.  Crypto surprises me every day really. ....and all this with official announcement on Binance.

Same with me! I'm hella confused. This is definately a manipulation by some group of whales to lure the newbies into this trap. I had doubts on this coin since it's ICO days. Founder is an anonymous guy. Using celebrities like Mayweather to ICO is a major red flag.

It is great to hear about this! There are many other scam coins out there, which deserve the same.
At the same time, I feel sorry for the holders. But I believe it was obvious it is a scam.
The hard thing to believe is that they were listed on bigger exchanges aswell!

To me these are good news, too many times people have been scammed and scammers have gotten away with it, it is time that the people that defraud investors face jail time and if possible if some of that money could be given back to the investors that believed in the project, it's unfortunate because no matter what happens those that invested will probably lose most of their money since the token is crashing very badly.

I think the price increase is due not to the good news of this project.
I think this increase in price is more caused by speculators who have a lot of CTR and want to reduce their losses by pumping prices and will dispose of it after the price rises

No one would ever know it a scam because at first it was a successful Ico and with the special promotion or advertise by Mayweather and on the later months its has a malicious programs that turns out and suspected as scam thats why the investigation on this centra goes on.

That's the take away from this SNAFU. Knowing that the SEC is now closely monitoring this industry will do a world of wonders in ensuring that only legit offering - developed by skilled personnel and backed by real experts - will see the light of day. Floyd Mayweather advertised CENTRA project, This once again shows that you should not trust anyone. Everybody is just want to earn money and they don't care what project/product they are promoting.

It is very good that these scammers were arrested. Now I definitely will not trust the projects that promote the celebrity. I used to have a bit of CTR coins, but I had sold them for a long time and hearing that the company was scam I was very glad to sell all these coins.

From the Begining, they failed to distribute the Visa/Master card to the community but at last, SEC finds CENTRA don't have any relation with the Banks. Already SEC is checking all ICO, who have collected huge amounts at the time of ICO.

They have never paid the bounty participants , so karma is real. Not surprised tbh  8)

I am still trying to figure out what scam they did as i was hearing that they were developing the products and cards and were in final stages, never the less, it is a really sad end and we need more vigilance in the crypto world, maybe some public posting of kyc of the people behind a project with police record and govt registration should be introduced, so if a scam happens, money can be refunded to investors by the authorities by taking over the project after arresting the culprits.

What you are seeing is nothing but speculators trying to earn money with a coin that is having a very difficult time, if you take time to see the charts you will see that the overall direction of centra over the long-term is down and it suffered a huge crash in just a few days, in my opinion this is nothing more but the last movements of a coin that is dying.

Feeling empathy for CTR holders. I had some for a short while and sold at a little loss as wanted to switch funds elsewhere. Nevertheless, it is sad to see. Hoping those losses can be made up elsewhere in genuine bonafide opportunities, there are plenty of these. There are also suspect ones too. Be careful, very careful. For me a truly genuine project requires zero 'bling bling' marketing with celebrity endorsements unless that project is much further down the line and established and proven. Wishing all CTR people the very best, dark days are always followed by brighter days.

any project endorsed by celebrities should be treated as the last option you wanna invest in, not because celebrities are dumb (which is true in most cases) but because they will say anything from their mouth given who paid them most so in that case if someone invested in centra because mayweather promoted it then, ohh boyy, this crypto thing may not fare well for you. also the use of card is what i did not understand, i thought we were trying to get rid of em because we talking bout private, digital & anonymous money maybe.

I think there will be a lot of such projects. Too many projects are coming out recently and not all of them are qualitative, scammers very much. Of course, I sympathize with those who lost on this project, but these are the realities of the market.

This hurt is what the market needs right now. There's barely any innovation in the recent offering we've been seeing. People seem to be developing the same project with just different names slapped on it. Advisors seem to be rotating themselves around projects without any understanding what the projects are all about - or if there's a conflict of interest.

It was all over the news and to see this coins founders getting arrested is so disappointing, it made me think maybe around 97% of ICO’s are scam. I even thought this coin was good because of the celebrities they got for advertising the coin, that’s a huge amount of money to pay for the celebrities talent fees right? Oh man.. I have lost all my investments and it will never go up again after the decision of delisting. I have invested 3 Ethereum in this project and the i have lost them all. Unfortunately i was late enough to sell earlier.

Many of the ICO's dead were doomed from the very beginning. It's no wonder that projects like Clitcoin, Neverdie and Zero Traffic have not materialized. Those who failed with fundraising do it again in the new year and hope that the failure of 2017 can be written off as a trial period. One such example is, perhaps, the platform for freight traffic Doft.

This scamming activities is the major reason why governments are banning ico and cryptocurrency projects. When all these hype around the card ICO startes I know it won't end well, Visa started telling them to stop using thier brand to promote their ICO. I checked out all these card based projects and only Tenx and Monaco seem to be doing well for now. Will like to see how this pans out, but for me Centra is a goner

Well you do not really have to be a genius in order to make the prediction that I did, the best guess that I can make is that probably some pump and dump groups bought the coin when it was crashing and then they gave the signal to the rest of the followers of the group to buy the coin and that created a pump in the market and that is why sometimes you see the coin going up.

Please remember that some of these projects are genuine and pose a profoundly real disruptive threat to the existing system, the money making machine that has been profiting shamelessly and relentlessly is now facing the greatest challenge to its supremacy, decentralised cryptocurrency and blockchain technology. They will not go out without a fight and no doubt will use any and all means necessary to keep their racket going and the existing status quo to be maintained.

In overall this sounds like bad thing but its not. This will scare off other ico creators to behave according to law and fulfill investor's desire. I really want clean, safe, legal environment in ico investment schemes.

A sad thing for crypto, but we will see these things more often in the future.

Yes this means investors should be keen on observation before they will involved in a certain project these days. A lot of scammers these days and these must put into a watch a regulations rather that these ico's to create should proves their project is worth.

CTR is only hampered by regulatory issues, and the developer's fault is to seize the legitimacy of a particular institution without legitimate evidence to get them eventually imprisoned, at least nothing wrong with this coin, but the mistake has been made by the project's management and the founder so as to have legal consequences which is fatal. We must be more careful in determining where we will invest with confidence.

It is a great pity for those people who suffered in this project! But they had a chance to sell a coin dearly, since after a strong fall, there was a strong leap up! At this level, you could sell well. I have friends who managed to sell =)

Really pity to hear such news, CENTRA was one of the base projects which offered interesting CrpytoCard. As you can see, listing on Binance is not a guarantee of project`s honesty.

Agreed, whilst I like Binance, they are not the be all end all in terms of a project's legitmacy by having their coin/token being listed there. Not sure how much home work / due diligence Binance can do but unfortunately some will slip through the gap regardless.

When it comes to cryptocurrencies there is not really a guarantee of anything, it does not matter where the coin is listed or where is trading or who is promoting the coin you need to do your due diligence and if you do not do it you are going to regret it in the future, many people invested in some very bad projects just because they read an article or because they saw an ad on facebook and they lost their money as a result.

Yes, they are doing good but after ICO governments are reacting and the price went very low in the market. So they need to crack down the fake ICO, the government should take measures in order to protect the people from these fake ICO's.

I really feel bad about the investors. I myself purchased some of these coins luckily was able to change my mind and converted it all into btc. This coin started out great and my condolences to all the investors that really risked their money, time and effort in supporting this project. Hope that the investors can atleast get some of their losses.
This is a very good move so that people who are planning to do a fake ICO in the future will be alarmed. The government should be vigilant hunting down these people who take advantage of the current trend with regards to ICOs.

Too bad for centra (CTR). It is also delisted from binance. With the government regulation on crypto many ICO and existing projects will vanish. specially those ICO or Crypto that has a Small or NO foundation at all. This is one of the sample effect.

Even if that was the case and the whales were able to get people to invest in a coin that was going to disappear, people need to be a lot more responsible with their money if a coin has been exposed as a scam then do your best to avoid such coins as a matter of principle and you will never lose your money in that way, do your best to only invest in projects that seems legitimate.

CTR is up even more since my previous post. Buyer beware. Personally HitBTC is one of my least favourite exchanges. CTR delisted from nearly all others and HitBTC happy to keep it running on their exchange. Was the same after the recent Titanium debacle (BAR). Also their withdrawal fees have been excessive in my experience.

There is for sure much much more positive development, refinement and improvement to come in the Crypto sphere, extending from the actual projects to the exchanges and all else in between.

Delisting CTR from Binance was a real blow to the project... Now, founders arrested I think that we should not expect any good news for CTR token during close future.

It feels so sad for the investors of the CTR their money an efforts became wasted.Finally those bad people and their bad doings come to an end but many people are fooled.It is indeed that it's hard to find a good projects or good coins to invest in.

That was some good piece of information and it is sad to discover that Centra was a trap. My sympathies are with all those who invested in it. But they should have shown more care. This is the sole reason why I always suggest to hook up with the old coins. They are trustworthy at least. They won’t leave the holder in the middle of journey. Choosing centra while having options of bitcoin, eth and other potential coins was wrong.

Its Mayweather whom they should arrest. Are you free of guilt when someone pays you to do something which that someone says is legal but actually turns out to be illegal? What if i paid you to go take money from a bank and you did it, shouldn't you be charged if not more guilty than the person who simply told you? Mayweather has always played dirty in the ring and now hes doing it in the real world. Somebody has to do something.

Whether one is a fan or not of Mayweather in regards to his boxing career (or otherwise), how would we know if he was privy to CTR being a scam at the time he was engaged to promote the project. He could be just as unaware as those who invested in the project. If he was paid in CTR then that is not worth much to him now, not that he would need it to be anyway given his embarrassment of riches that he already had. He seems like a shrewd guy so likely got tokens and fiat probably. Would he risk his existing vast wealth and reputation to knowingly be pushing a scam. I understand the anger and frustration but I am other than sure that Mayweather is culpable or indeed liable for any wrongdoing. Ultimately a court of law would need to decide that but my feeling is that Mayweather will be unaffected unless there is something to come out of the woodwork as of yet unknown. There was another 'celeb' hyping CTR too, DJ Khaled, maybe more too.

We don't know whether Centra coin has given any profits to the investor but really unpredicted one because on the other side they are doing conference actively and giving updates on their progress. We don't know which company we have to believe and which company we should not.

I've seen the other side of the coin - what advisors and promoters do for ICO and really, it's nothing more than being paid for using their brand image and giving promotional talks

Yes, they raised nearly $32 Millions from the people and finally they don't have any links with the banking sectors. This indicates that SEC is already focusing on the ICO's and want to recover the people if they don't have any real product.

this is very disappointing to think that this coin is very big breakthrough for the Cryptocurrency industry. I believe this project is very disruptive if it continue to run, i believe it will be wiping the entire credit card industry like mastercard and visa. It did cost 4 dollars not because it was that valuable but because it simply got pumped and noobs joined the bandwagon. They did have a good marketing but they have shown absolutely zero product, no card, no marketplace. Also they have said that this is a credit card, later everyone finds out it is a simple debit one, and they have failed at delivering that too. All their Bitcointalk topics and Telegram's were closed a long time ago, it did raise additional suspicions.

I have never put the blame on scammers entirely. It is also a big blunder by those who got scammed. But this is a different kind of scam... They actually built an online wallet, attended shows, massive marketing effort, and you knew who the people involved were. They had interviews with their legal staff and devs, they did everything to look legit. This is a terrible way to run a scam because it's impossible to exit with the loot when everyone knows who you are.

Some expect it to happen and well the team is not anonymous they are shown for publicacy i think what they problem is they are too much be hype and in despite of this having a good front they have not concerns with legalities so they don't work on it as they are focus on the amount that they raised. It was a scam project because actually they don't have any relationship with the banks in order to issue to the card. Actually they don't have any real product for the development just they are scaming the people by showing wrong calculation. That's why the coin is dumping in the market.

That's gonna be a hardfall for an ICO that seems to be promising since the start until it was listed on the market. Unexpectedly, it turned to be just a scam and it fall to almost 80% of its market price in just about 24 hours and now it's nowhere to be found in coinmarketcap. Hope everyone has learned a lesson to always be careful of what they're into.

I read the news some months ago, but it is nice to read it again, at least some of those scammers are now going to pay for their crimes, while it is impossible to catch them all I think the message is what it is important, if you scam and you leave a trace the police can follow they are going to eventually come knocking at your door to arrest you.

Indeed, no one knows that Centra is a scam, we are also surprised and sorry about this incident, but this has happened, hoping that this incident will not be repeated and become a valuable lesson for us.

This unique scam experience will teach us more lessons that we will not just rely on famous celebrity endorsers just to determine the legitimacy of the project but we need to double our effort of reviewing the projects very well for now on but i also think that this project is not really a scam at first because of their positive credentials that maybe the ICO staff were just tempted to make the project to be a scam because of the huge money involved.

Don't lose hope. This will be a good lesson not to trust 100% on ICO even you feel it is promising. Make a new strategy to make your loss get back on track again. I feel really bad to all CTR holders and hoping they can get a jackpot on their next ICO investment.

Information presented by OP. It's been interesting to observe, which's also a learning material for all of us so that we aren't trapped by the next generation of CENTRA CTR which's likely to come back in the future.

This so called scam or fraud projects will not going to come back instead they will being alarmed with this case in centra that they should be aware of this before running the same style of money making coins without a proper legal process or entities was made before they run an ico.

I feel sorry for the investors who are the victims of Centra CTR for they are the one who lost a lot.  For sure they are panicking about this issue and this will be the start of their downfall. I completely agree with you, because this is a serious precedent with respect to the punishment of scammers not trustworthy ico companies. The main thing is to bring the investigation to completion and put a logical point in the punishment for this crime.

The fact is that these scammers have deceived quite a lot of people.  Of course, the participants of the Bounty companies received a very good profit, if they sold Which coins immediately after the company ico.  But the fact is that this coin was successfully traded on the stock exchange for a long time and therefore was able to deceive many more users of cryptocurrency.  I, in turn, also suffered because I was not paid a reward for the work done.  Although today my work was almost a crime, but I did not know that they were fraudsters.

The two projects appear very similar, I cannot 100% say that Spend.com = Centra, but there are many similarities.  The evidence is stacking up though

The official rebrand project, Phantom (XPH), now appears to be 100% abandoned, which would mean all of their time is now on SPND.

Phantom was built on the Ark platform, Spend appears to have also been built on the Ark platform.

Spend (SPND) has some pretty suspect executives on their "Team".  One of the primary deceptions of Centra were phony credentials and some outright fake people, would like to see some of the executives speak on an AMA or something just to verify who they are.

The marketing seems to be identical, using the same channels Centra used to promote itself and the same bounty participants commenting on their videos

There is some other non verified smoke as well, I have seen speculation in the comment section of a YouTube video that the former Centra CMO Chase Zimmerman is involved but nothing from the company or him to verify that.

It was endorsed from Mayweather Jr. I didn't see any project happen to be good after endorsed by a celebrity.

I remembered the time when Centra was announced that its a scam and the price of it on Binance plummeted in an instant. Now the developers/team are arrested already but the money will never go back. Those who invested and until now holding and hoping for a rise are now feeling regret because of what they did.

I think you must move on with what you have done. Like they always say, know the risk first before investing and at least now you know what you did was wrong :). Do better research before investing on an ICO or just invest in top coins already to prevent being scammed.

Charge it to experience buddy. I'm sure a lot of people have lost as well, I know the feeling and it's really hard to comprehend what had happened, but everyone needs to move on and let this be a lesson and an expensive one to learn.

IEO are the main thing now, not saying that you have to invest right now, but if you are looking for other deals right now maybe it's about time to look at it as a better alternatives as compare to ICO.

This is a sad thing because it made me lose around 0.8 btc or more than $ 12k, i think CTR is a good and promising project so i participated in ICO.

The news was clearly not new, it's over 1 year old news and centra tokens is not anymore trading in major exchange.
We can only find centra tokens in ED or maybe other decentralize exchange but it still has a value since you can swap it with phantom coins or XPH.
I'm holding this coin but hasn't and completely swapped it.

Although the news was a year ago it is still nice to know that the SEC are working to hold someone who is responsible for the loss of the people's capital, still hoping that they can make it most of the time because ICO scams are wide spread nowadays.

Back into those golden ICO days were some projects do really make use the popularity of some celebrity or sports icon which it do really helps on hyping up the project and lure more investors and it

was really very common on that time and later on it was busted and didnt really get that much result since people or investor becomes wiser and intelligent on what they had experienced

in the past.Its good to see even though its old but there are founders been arrested because of the scam that they had done.Hope for other scammy devs or owners out there.

at that moment centra was top project in market , alot investors tempted to invest here due several reason and brand ambasador be one of these reason. alot investors give huge expectation to this project which is hopefully could be top 10 coinmarketcap for long term, unfortunately everything changes when they have problem with SEC. in crypto we never know what will going happen in future, so taking profits and risk management important to save our assets.

I was also hit by a scam centra, I bought centra and about a month there was bad news that made me unable to sell centra, this is normal, there is always an opportunity for any coins to be scams, alert and don't be too easy to believe in anything as long as you can't prove.

Public fraud was a major problem for the Centra Project at the time, so the SEC took the Centra CEO to court. Centra said that they already had a partnership with Visa, but it turned out to be fake. so their token price fell in an instant.

Yeah i remember that thing as well. It was getting listed by binance but after SEC was took it down and then it was getting delisted again by binance instantly. Money that stolen from investors being used by scammer to bought RR car. I remember that if that may be confiscated by SEC.
I hope that scammer will never try to think to scam people again and let themselves to go to the jail

3.5k? Ouch that's kinda huge but I see how you risk that high and that is because you see that famous personalities are involved in this project. Rest assured that you and others who trusted the project can learn something out of it and that is never put your full trust even if you are convinced that it looks legit because shit can always happen the least we expect it.

Look at luna and others who started to look legit but later on they have turned really bad but as the title said, the founders are found and arrested already. Are there no positive news that followed up? Like the money was also recovered and maybe it will be returned to their investors?

it should be important experience for us, several crypto project that endorse public figure ended with scam. We must becarefull and take care if find this kind project anymore , artist or public figure didnt guarantee they will success. SEC usually intervention on this, and project will die soon.

I still hold 50k CTR and failed to sell them.  I have high hope for this one before it was labeled a scam and the founders were found guilty and put behind bars.  Floyd Mayweather Jr. played a huge part in why I trusted this project because he appears on social media promoting and holding a CTR card.  

that's so sad dude you lose your assets , and personally i will also be my lesson to care about public figure endorse in crypto project. as i know almost all crypto project that endorse public fgure end at scam . this is be special note for us ofcourse , dont trapped in popular opinion from figure, maybe our own analissys better.

It was a hot project at that time.  And the eligibility of the project were never questioned until the SEC comes in and questioned the integrity of their offered visa card.  Then from that point, the whole fraud is exposed and the founders were arrested, Mayweather was fined for promoting the fake Visa of CTR.  I was busy with other altcoins at that time and failed to update myself about the CTR case. Well, I agree, that is a lesson to be learned.

Incredible! In my opinion, celebrities who aid scammers knowingly should face the maximum wrath of the law. A fine looks cheap. So many people lost a great deal of money back then. It even had a negative effect on trusting crypto investments.

You can often tell a scam if you examine the name.  Centra = centralization = how you lose your money in crypto.
