Title: Are Airdrops really worth the time?
Post by: mhnv45 on April 11, 2018, 12:38:12 AM
We all have heard about airdrops in every token introduction

Are they worth the time we spend to do the tasks and submit information? Are they really going to explode so make us rich?

Even 1% of them go on to be super big then it does worth it but how can we be so sure of it?

Better we believe in the goodness and the exploding price with airdrop, there is nothing to emphasize with the price of airdrop.

It will worth the time if you have big amount of active referrals if not the chance of you hitting a jackpot is very low. Participate in other bounties as well so you can maximized the potential earnings you can get.

I posted this somewhere else but I'll repost it here.

An airdrop is worth NOTHING if the coin you are receiving is worthless. I could create an ERC20 token today if I wanted, and give away 10 billion tokens to each person in an airdrop. The problem? Those 10 billion tokens are worth absolutely nothing. They may as well not be there as its simply a number in my wallet.

I would say 90%+ of the new coins out there are/will be worthless. Before even considering joining a bounty campaign or airdrop, I always look at a couple things:

1) Does the coin I'm receiving have a purpose/goal?
2) Do the developers have credibility/experience?
3) Is the announcement thread written in proper English and formatted well? (seriously this tells me a lot)
4) Is there a masternode pre-sale? (If yes, don't even consider joining the project. Seriously, look at my signature and you can tell how much I hate discord masternode pre-sales)

If a coin doesn't meet all of the criteria above, I don't even bother with it. If it does, I will do more research, and if the project sounds promising I will participate in any airdrops/bounties they do.

The key to finding success in airdrops/bounties is quality, not quantity. If you participated in the 1000 ONT airdrop, you probably made more than joining 500 random shitcoin airdrops. Be selective!

If the token is pure airdrop most there are shit coins that are virtually no value. As I have noticed in ICOs with 1% airdrop I think this is a strategy to grow a community can attract more investors because of the large community investors are complaining about their ICOs who have joined. Airdrop is great but I do not believe it because airdrop is a person's wealth. Because airdrop is one account only legitimate can be involved if you have a multiple account and found it automatically you are rejected.

Airdrop can be worth it if you really invest on the same coin/token, because we know that its not a big amount.

You really made sense, Quality matters more than quantity. No point in simply going after whatever is available, Thorough reviewing does help !

It looks like you missed to read the posts above yours.

It is not about how much free coins you receive from airdrop but the concern here is whether those coins are really worth or not and got any future use of those coins. If no use of those coins and team behind those coins are series in bringing up the product then those coins eventually become a shit coin and you lose all your invested money. So better get all the information about the coin before you invest your hard-earned money.

Very well said. In many cases the projects have no substance or direction, however if you find a project that you believe has great potential and you believe in their direction then receiving free tokens via airdrop is a fantastic opportunity to create wealth for yourself.

most of airdrop are scam only few are genuine even the airdrop is not scam the token is still a shitcoin but still it can give you small profit to make earn in airdrop it take more time to make a profit but sometimes it worth it my biggest earning in airdrop is $250 on single airdrop project not bad for just signing up.

No. Next question?

Even 1% of them go on to be super big then it does worth it but how can we be so sure of it?

Maybe 1% of them, but guess how hard it is to reach that 1%? You need to participate in at least 100 ICO airdrop campaigns to have 1 be in play for you that might "be super big".

The reality is that if an ICO needs to give away it's tokens for free, and is not attempting a hard fork, the ICO's utility in the market is super low (i.e., their business model is weak). A company that has a great idea doesn't need to give it away for free to gain publicity. And ICOs, most of them, are companies.

The ICO market should be contracting significantly during this recessionary period, which is a good thing. It's time for the ICO trash to get swept up and tossed in the bin!

To be honest, I believe in smart work it doesn't make any sense to me to spend the entire time on looking for airdrops. On the other hand, considering the mass mentality, the value decreases most of the times as soon as that particular coin hits the market so selling it at that time is not a good deal. Thus, spending around 5% time is not a bad idea but one should hold and expect returns in the long term against short-term mass mentality.

Found this airdrop to be very cool and good prospect.

https://bonus.presale.ventures/r/2122

1.  Click on Sign Up and follow the detailed steps
 2.  After signing up and joining the two Telegram channels enter your ETH address. you get 20 tokens worth 20$

Evaluation:
They have a great and professional team. The whitepaper is also solid. The steps for the airdrop are extremely user-friendly (step by step with images and so on). Super smooth.

I wholly agree. The ratio of rubbish ICOs to promising ones out there is ridiculous. Gotta be willing to do your research otherwise alot of time is gonna be wasted. That said, ONT did an airdrop and the recipients are now up thousands :)

I would say, that an airdrop is only worth your time, if it comes with some other value from the project.

For example, you can take a part in the airdrop, if you are going to invest in this ICO. You have to pass the KYC anyways, so there is almost no pain in making a couple extra clicks to get an airdrop.

If you have your documents in order, KYC won't take more than 2 minutes and 1 extra visit to the ICO website.

If the ICO airdrop campaign creates extra difficulties (confirming accounts, using their platform or whatever else) and takes too much time, that may be too much trouble for the buck. Also, it may expose your wallet and/or identity to some risks. which are disproportional to any gains from the airdrop.

Summary: it may worth you time, if the airdrop is simply structured and genuine. No for all other cases. And you won't get rich from airdrops anyways.

Ternio is a solid project with a clear use case, advanced infrastructure, technology patent pending + under 3rd party certification for >1 million BC transactions per second, based on Stellar and Hyperledger, with a partnership signed with one of the major operators in its market and others in the process, in a huge market that desperately needs it.

Competition is limited and not exclusive, meaning that Ternio can easily complement others in the same market. The team is experienced, transparent and approachable. Capitalization is reasonable.

The Airdrop is very generous: out of 20,000 Telegram channel members, a large number (generally 5,000) are offered every day the opportunity to reclaim 500 TERN, until when ICO will start at $0.10/TERN on June 1st (or earlier if the 5,5 million TERN are entirely airdropped earlier). Max possible win is 15,000 TERN + referrals and other small possible bonuses. The procedure is fast and also fun.

Please use my referral if you want more info or to jump in: http://ternio.me/transat (http://ternio.me/transat).

The project should start working by end of this year and the token, which is already exchangeable on Stellar, is used and placed in such a way that, in my opinion, should most certainly grow in value.

[NB I am not an expert nor an advisor and I am not involved in any way other than having already been assigned 10000 TERN with the above procedure and a couple of hundreds via referrals. Please judge by yourself]

It is spam, isnt it? By the way, is it real to get 5k $ with airdrops? As for me it`s just wasting time for clicking.

I think you hit the nail right on the head here, and there's so many shitcoins out there that it's just not worth the time to go through the process to even register for an airdrop. It's like, the ICO won't even make any money in the first place (and if it's a shitcoin, then say goodbye to your investment because you're probably not going to get it back).

Oh yeah - 1000 ONT airdrop, I'm so sour about that. Missed out on that newsletter signup. Sigh...

I think that we have to deal with airdrops, since no one knows suddenly that these coins that you gave away will be worth a lot of money in the future, although today nothing stands.

most airdrops will be worthless, the coins will never be developed or they will never be marketed.
However, some turn out to be real gems.
The Renoscoin airdrop was worth almost a bitcoin at last years highs. Semux airdrop worth .5 btc OTC.

Some airdrops are very worthwhile, some simply arent. I'm still staking the Tokyocoin airdrop even though its barely worth anything because it costs me little to nothing and theres a high upside and no downside since it cost me nothing

Hmm, I don't think 5k can be earned in some small amount of time - you might spend years to achive it. So it's not worth effort.

There is usually minimal effort required to participate in the airdrop offering. It won't make you rich, but the bigger picture with airdrops is that you're receiving some coins to use on the company’s service when it’s ready and see if you like the product and experience.

We talk about this more in our blog post about Airdrops so check it out  :)

If the activities needed in order to join the airdrop are easy to do, why not join them? It's still worth your time since you will be getting some free tokens as reward for the activity that you will do and it might amount to a few dollars.

But don't expect that you will be getting a lot of tokens from them since a lot of people also join these things.

If you have time to devote to Airdrops, try it out.

If you have more time to work on bounties, that's the better option.

Not really, Most of the Airdrop turned into shitcoins, Airdrop is one the technique used by marketing ppl to develop a database of the crypto centered crowd. Later they can sell it to different ICOs.
Another risk is they took your data to take over your funds.

I tried doing airdrops for some time, some of the tokens or coins bloom, but mostly till now they're not listed on exchanges rendering the amount useless. So i can say airdrops are not really worth the time, but some of my friends says that he got huge loads of money doing only airdrops (that's why i tried doing some). Still i tried doing some but i don't think it's my thing, but you can try and see if it clicks to you.

We can't guarantee about airdrops. Some are worth and some of them are scams. So we have to careful with selecting airdrops. You can do a research before doing airdrop. because of some people create fake airdrops for increasing subscribers for their social media platforms. Very good airdrops are coming once in a while.  We have to find the very carefully and register with them. Otherwise, you are wasting your valuable time.

For sure nobody can really say which airdrop will be worth the time spent filling the form or performing few tasks to get enrolled because the way airdrops are being churned out on daily basis is alarming and the majority of them are really worthless. doing more bounties will be of more advantageous.

My experience in the participation of Airdrops did not bring me anything. Only littered tokens that are not even traded or their value is very low

Some are worth it and I think those that come us a percentage of the funds raised during an ICO is the best to particpate in it, and note airdrop that is based on ICO. Is better to participate in bounty than airdrop. Most I particpated in didn't pay, I just filled forms for about a week and I did't get nothing.

As long as they don't ask for your private information, one might aswell just sign up?
Sure it's just some free tokens which might end up being worthless, but it could also be worth it.

Right now what we need to do is collect tokens as many as we can then hold it for a long time. That will become profitable as time pass by.

Most of the time participatin in airdrops is a waste of time - you either receive worthless tokens or nothing at all. Airdrops by themself are marketing trick used mainly for hyping up a project and/or collecting user data. You fill up your data in the registration forms, which companies can use freely, in exchange for tokens which could possibly never hit the market. In very rare cases you can stumble upon a "hidden gem" and you can make a good chunk of money but this case is rare. We would recommend spending at least a couple of minutes reading about the project/ICO itself before waisting your time with airdrops and bounties. Hope this help and best of luck, all !

Airdrop are worth it sometimes, if your lucky on the airdrop youve participated you will get high reward without doing anything. You  only share and retweet to get the airdrop tokens.

My personal statistics.
5 of 30 average airdrops will bring you profit >$20
10 of 30 >$5
15 of 30 <$1

But! It's only for 1 registration. If you have referrals, you can make much more profit.

Airdrops are a good start for a newbie, you can get your first pennys and learn operating with a wallet, even maybe selling them (if you're lucky enough to get an exchange listed coin that cost more than $0, believe me it's a rare situation). But if you're a bit higher than a beginner you better pay attention to bounties or even ICOs

The best way to earn cryptocurrency not airdrop. You can try investing in interesting projects or participate in bounty campaigns (Twitter, Facebook, Youtube, Signature and others), it's better way

Yes. I think its still worth the shot. Not at all of them will fulfill the promise of sending their coin to your wallet and not all of them will hit exchange or listing but its still worth it. I am trying to join every airdrop I can. The biggest reward I get was $60 from DOCADEMIC and $20 from Experty. I'm still trying even if the rewards are low because its still another source of income for me. And YES. IT IS WORTH IT. Just keep trying.

Nowadays most of the airdrops are a scam just purpose of collecting personal information but there are few good airdrops also. I have a separate email address and Wallet address only for airdrop. I also earn some amount of money form my early stage. I can exactly one thing, you can't be rich just doing airdrops only. You can do bounty to get more rewards. after collecting some considerable amount,  you can invest them into ICO

Im in to cryptocurrencies for almost one year now. WHen i heared the first time of the airdrops, i immidiately started to participate on them. They were day on work when i searched the whole day just for new airdrops. So i participate and filled out thousands of forms. But i received maybe just like 150 airdrops tokens. From all those token they were like ten percent something worth. So it is not worth the time. Just save your time and participate in bounty campaigns.

Airdrops normally give low rewards as compared to bounties. But if you get some tokens, you can add it up to your money and use it for something. Even if the returns are small, you can still get some tokens.

I think airdrops not worth of your time. The token you receive will be a design in your wallet if you receive less tokens. If the token you received from airdrop had it's value increased then that's the time you can trade it for fiat but I think that will take some time for it to happen. You should focus on other things rather than airdrop, airdrop may be easy to get but not worth it.

Airdrop really worth the time, if you have enough referrals, that is an advantage that makes it really worth it

It is worth enough if you have transact peer to peer converted to fiat. Even thou  you  have so many referrals  but the  token is not listed  in  an  exchange  its nothing.

Even 1% of them go on to be super big then it does worth it but how can we be so sure of it?
Airdrop is a free gift given to people who follow the project. I think the prize is not too big because the job is easy too

I believe if it's a good ICO and they are offering participants chances to buy coins at a very discounted price with bonuses is there is a potential to make good money. I think everybody should check the ratings of the ICO see what people are talking about it and look at the staff members managing thr ICO. You meet us online through a search engine just get General consensus and check out the staff look at some of the members and see if they are professional or just someone trying to scam some money from you.

Your lucky if you receive 20 USD on ICO airdrops usually it's worthless. but non-ICO airdrops hit exchanges sometimes give you more than you expected. last time I got lucky from hydro airdrop and polymath airdrop, I got 2600 USD on HYDRO and  283 USD on POLY. perhaps the lesson is to search non-ICO airdrops and be careful about joining ICO ones.

I have participated in many airdrops and most of them are in My Ether Wallet but not coins are listed on exchange yet I am waiting for them to add on exchange so I can sell some and take profit. It does not take much time for participating, if any of them give good profit it will be worth to give time to airdrops.

In my opinion airdrops are worth the time. I think that even $10-50 worth of coins is a good payment for a 10 minute work, so I am more than happy to chase as much as possible of airdrops. I like them but daydreaming is worthless here, airdrops won't make you rich, but they are a good way to increase your holdings in crypto.

Airdrops usually (but there have been some exceptions) are not worth your valuable time. It's much better to participate in bounties if you want to earn some tokens without investing.

Bounties are much more interesting than airdrops in terms of possible profits.

If you want to have a look and get some information in a good Bounty campaign that has just started, I can suggest you RAWG.

They have just started a very rich bounty program for everyone who is willing to participate:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4147507 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4147507)

In these days, they also launched a special bounty, which allows you to get up to 100 dollars for a single tweet or facebook post!!! Depending on the number of your followers.

Have a look, because it is a great opportunity to quickly earn a nice amount of their tokens:

https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4147507.msg40536596#msg40536596 (https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=4147507.msg40536596#msg40536596)

The ICO site is this one: https://token.rawg.io/ (https://token.rawg.io/). It's a video game discovery platform that converts your skills into goods and services.

You can earn tokens by playing your favorite games. The site is already working, with more than 50,000 games in the database and new games are getting added every day. This is the site: https://rawg.io/ (https://rawg.io/)

Quite good looking, don't you think?

Many people think that Airdrop is easy to earn money because do not invest cash, but you get free tokens. Maybe right, maybe wrong, If you do not research project, you waste your time, and you could leak your data (to make KYC..). There is a small chance to really earn, but with painstaking, DYOR and a little lucky you can earn so much money.

In no specific order here are my favourite running airdrops. Check them out and let me know what you think! other airdrops are worth it but others are just nothing like no value at all. We will never be sure , it is all our specaluation , estimates and technical analysis , just try to get a lot of knoweledge about the project and airdrop conditions , distribution . I think yes , u invest your time in project not money , so u can start to build up something from the zero without initial bet and make some decent cash . Some yes but most of them no , there are a lot of scams on the market , if u just invest your time in worst scenario u will get a small amount of money but in the better one  they can make us rich , depends on coin and your participation. However you will get some amount of money ''for free'' which is great if u dont have any initial bet but want to trade with crypto or make some extra money . With your participation u helps community as well .

I'm sure ONT wasn't a "good" airdrop when they were starting out. ;) I guess what I'm saying is patience is the key when talking about crypto. :)
