So there has been a lot of hype about bitcoin lately and I know it is revolutionary and has lots of advantages. But let's try to state the reasons why exactly do you personally think that bitcoin is not great and lacks in some points. I know it has great applications and is just great but it is not falwless right?
My question is simple and straight, What are the flaws of bitcoin?
Except its high volatility and "Dark use" (in illegal activities).

Bitcoin prices have fallen so much is the biggest reason. We used to be able to dig a lot of money in the past, but because the prices have fallen, people have no confidence in the crypto stock exchange.
In fact, prices are low and can be taken for investment purposes. But will prices continue to fall? This is a risk.
But what if the prices go up?

One of main issues is that when you will need to withdraw huge amount of bitcoins to your bank account (in EUR, USD..) you might have big troubles, especially in Europe Union countries. Because tax agency will ask you - where those money are from?

0.001 Bitcoin = $92 and 0.001kg of Gold = $42 = $42. Who will buy Bitcoin ?? Looks like "traders cartel" have the Bitcoins. Could be illegal money from terrorists and criminals getting pumped into Bitcoin because of it's anonymity

$1 to $10,000 in 9 years is super-HYIP

On the last of things that will never happen is this. Why would the top 1% give money to everybody just like that? It would be a long process giving everybody UBI and won't happen overnight. I myself fear regulation more as too much regulation could hinder the growth that is clearly incoming.

Nothing can be flawless in this world. Every system has its own flaws and so does bitcoin. However, improvement is also being done on that. Bitcoin transactions are slower compared to many other altcoins so lightening network is being tested to improve the speed. Bitcoin transaction were costlier earlier, adoption of segwit helped it decrease. So it's an ongoing effort.

But the traditional banking system has more flaws than bitcoin and you have a very little freedom when it comes to financials. There are state agencies and tax authorities waiting for an anomaly to be discovered in your financials. Bitcoin can at least change that where you will be the supreme power holder of your own finances.

Mining Centralization is a flaw now, in my opinion.

I think that in general everyone should have at least a small of their investment portfolio in bitcoin.
Something like 0,5 - 5% i think is a very health for every portfolio.

Bitcoin has a risk totally disassociated to other investments, such as gold, stocks, bonds. In the right percentage, bitcoin could even lower the risk of your portfolio.

One important thing is to never over-invest. When you put more than you can afford to lose, most people become paranoid and make bad trading decisions.

There is no perfect things in this world and Bitcoin is not exempted, the price of it means something if you just think of it.

There are people that already using it and believe to entrust their money into it because they think it has a future. We all knew that there are problems that occurring and that's inevitable in anything but the Bitcoin developers always think of the good improvement of Bitcoin itself, for as long it's growing and keep on moving forward I can't think of a reason not to invest in Bitcoin.

Your two negativities are not even negative. Everything is used for dark purposes, and volatility is normal when price discovery phase is in place.

I think this is not a main reason for not using bitcoin. You can use other than bitcoin for illegal activity too.
my reason to not invest in bitcoin is because the tx fee is expensive. There are many altcoins that have a fee much lower than bitcoin.

there may be many different reasons nowadays one of them is the fear of bitcoin prices that plummet and fear of losses, the occupied state prohibits access to bitcoin and probably many more reasons why not invest with bitcoin

The only flaw I can see see is the transaction speed which is slow, so it cant be used in some stores, but in the future this problem will be easy handle by the developers, most of the time people hate bitcoin because of that people invest in the wrong time and lost money, and then people hate bitcoin because they don't understand with bitcoin and only believe in the negative news publish by the media

people who survive and struggle will get results and become winners. be ready to become a millionaire when the price goes back up.

There are many investment scheme which has been scattered in different nations. Now, investing into something would depend on your trust and belief. Becasue bitcoin as we all know is very open to any investors and open for legal or illegal activities depending on your purpose.

Investing in bitcoin is a reasonable investment, this can be well earned, provided that you will understand the trade bitcoin

For me, the biggest reason not to invest in Bitcoin is that there is no certainty of the future and hence I am not investing my entire wealth in it. However, I am impressed with the core philosophy of Bitcoin and I am optimistic about it and hence I am investing my some part of the wealth which I can afford to lose because I want to participate in the process of global transformation which takes place once in the century and that side is always bigger than possibility of losing my funds. I can earn money later but this opportunity won't arise again in my entire life so I am okay with 100% loss of capital considering the other side.

I think this forum is not the right place for you because all users here trust bitcoin and you cant get an answer to your question here we will not look at its negative side because we sincerely beleive in it.

I do not see any major drawbacks in bitcoin absolutely. Except bitcoin is not as perfect compared to other crypto-currencies. In my opinion, altcoins have more advantages both in terms of technology and in terms of growth of price of the token.
So, bitcoin is a good tool for investment, but do not just dwell on it.

Bitcoin is far from being perfect, so let's accept that. One - We cannot scale to mainstream use, without the Lightning

 Network. Two - We have some serious security issues with some of the third party software, where Bitcoin is used. Three -

You might be the first person who is seeking reasons not to invest in Bitcoin. If someone asks for reasons on why he should invest in Bitcoin than I can understand but asking why not to invest in bitcoin doesn't makes sense. If you don't want to invest in Bitcoin than don't, why looking for reasons to not invest in it.

Probably this is the reason of any body who joins in this forum and participate on different campaign but after that we can actually invest in bitcoin. Sell and buy for the amount that is low more than selling to have profit. Do not have money to start with find ways to have it, others do not want to take the big risk and contented with the earnings from campaigns.

I don't have a reason why I will not invest in bitcoin. Bitcoin is a good investment and it is the best investment I entered. As you can see, there are more movement and profit here in the crypto market. For me, it is better that the circulation is active and more volume of trade.

Even still the bitcoin is in perfect shape to invest we cant really relay in this platform and put all of our money in this platform because still the market is still a gamble even we know that the price will go up and we have a small time and the market value of bitcoin could go to the moon we still have a doubt and the game will go up fast also that means that the dump will also happening in just a small amount of time surely.

There is no reason for you not to invest in bitcoin.Because bitcoin is a very essential thing.In bitcoin you can make your time and effort so very productive.You can gain and earn so much money in bitcoin and can be very successful.

Your post is very good and those are really problems to consider. Besides that we still have mining centralization cartel.

But these are minor issues and bitcoin will solve them. Soon we will have more secure wallets (which are still very complicated and unsafe for many people)

Because of that there have been difficulties for acceptance.
It is a currency. People just want their own currency to be used.
It is not physically seen. A larger percentage of people do not believe in ghost so why bitcoin?
If they cannot hold it then it is not real for them.

I think there are no valid reasons why you dont want to invest on bitcoin. Maybe the problem is the ignorance of the bitcoin system and second you have no money to invest on it. Why not to invest if it will guarantee you a good return and people who dont believe in bitcoin is missing the chance to change their lives. I am very lucky that i am one of the bitcoin supporters. I have no reasons not to invest in bitcoin because it really helped me a lot.

Both of you are right, there are no valid reasons for not investing in bitcoins. Ignorance or anything else of that type is just excuse for lazy people. Internet is here for all of us, all we need to so is to come here ans learn about what ever we want.
Its not a flaw to be new, it's not a flaw if you can't see it physically, only problem, if that is a problem at all, is that bitcoin has some difficulties in acceptance, but with new generations that are more technology oriented will change everything. Old people are traditional, everything new is strange for them, when new generations comes all world will accept bitcoins. So buying bow and holding until that moment is great thing to do.

I believe the important part of being a forum is covering all opinions of the spectrum , it's part of th free speech and it helps the discussion to make Bitcoin even better!

I can't see that much flaws in bitcoin. When there's a network spam the fees are increasing so this can be one of it.

Another thing is that it's mostly attacked by those bitcoin cash people so that's one reason why others are losing appetite to bitcoin because there's a division to the bitcoin people.

I think that on the earth there are more and more people who believe in bitcoin! while the market is at the very initial stage of development, one has to talk and earn this, since such an opportunity will no longer be! now is the best time to devote all your time to learning the crypto world and take a step forward with technology!

There is no reason for not investing because it is profitable,  we are just afraid to put are money because we think that we might not get profit especially if we have no other source of income to support our needs and some emergency.  Cannot hold that tight for long year investment which is not only lose profit but also lessen the value of investment. 

The only reason I see is if you don't have enough money to buy into bitcoin and you think that it's the only way to make more money, or don't understand bitcoin well enough and you're just joining the hype and hopefully replicate the success of others. Other than that, i think are excuses of people or FUDs. The technology behind bitcoin is really innovative, and several giant financial institutions or banking on its potential, meaning there's something really good about it. This already explains a lot as to why should one consider investing in bitcoin IMO.

I think that the main drawback of bitcoin is that it is still being used little. Still too few people use crypto-currencies. The coin is only useful when it is needed by many people. But I do not consider the dark past of bitcoin as a drawback.

For me, there is no reason for me to not to invest. Even if the price drops, when it rises you will definitely get a big profit. If I have a lot of money, I will surely invest in Bitcoin because I believe in it's ability. If you hold it for a long time, you get a too much profit.

IMO the only really good reason to not “invest” in bitcoin is due to the fact that you don’t have the necessary means to be able to afford to do so. Like many investments, bitcoin is risky as well as all cryptocurrency. Also bitcoin is truly not meant as an investment. It was created as a global payment system.

For me, there is no reason why I am going to refuse to invest on bitcoin. Because it has a good advantages. Let's just say some few reasons why not to invest on bitcoin. There is no such thing except in its volatility and its 'dark use', I will not going to invest on bitcoin if most of the sites are contaminated by hackers and scammers. That is one of the reason I know.

I think the drawbacks are varied but the common one is the price is not predictable with certainty, the guarantee for its security is so lacking our own that can make it safe it may be the weakness I know and the problem of legality is lacking in different countries

I think it's not good to invest Bitcoin because sometimes it's always decreasing and when it happens your investment would not profit, then you wait when its rises up but when it's not then how are you going to take back what you lost? Simply this months is not good on Bitcoin maybe in the further months or the yearend months.

So do you prefer investing in altcoins? Well, if you can notice, whatever happens to Bitcoin, it has an impact to altcoins. Are you doubting the capability of Bitcoin? or the cryptocurrencies as a whole?

I think the reason why you not invest in BTC is maybe because you have no enough money to invest in it. But you must try to join in signature and bounty campaigns, in that way you can get earn and use it to invest in btc.

There is no reason for us not to invest in bitcoin unless you do not have enough money, bitcoin has given us a lot of value, you spend $ 1 you can get $ 2 or $ 7 or Much more so why not invest in it..

If we knew that bitcoin price would rise so impressively during the past ten years, we would  buy bitcoin for sure at that times. Now you can find that the price constantly grows and reaches $9000-$10000 and will grow again.

If you do not have stable income and extra money that you can invest somewhere, then do not invest!

I agree with you that is the problem on bitcoin but the other issue is they are afraid to lose there money they think that bitcoin investment is only a scam and they dont have any idea how to invest on this currency,they always heared that bitcoin is not a good investment that's why many people are afraid to invest.

Reason why you should not invest in bitcoin is if you don't know what crypto currency is. Lots of people invest in bitcoin even they lock of knowledge from it thats why they lost their money and they scammed by others.

There are countless reasons to invest in Bitcoin,Bitcoin id free from paper work hurdle and having good store value and you can make transactions on fingertips.

maybe not everyone can trade in bitcoin world. of course everyone will choose commodities where they feel comfortable doing trading. because if it is not impossible if we impose something beyond our ability will experience keeugian

   The most important features of crypto money are; the transfer without intermediary and the transfer fees are too low. That's why everyone is adopting crypto money. It removes time-consuming factors like the bank in between.
   Every day a new crypto money is born. New racers are always participating in this race. They all have their own characteristics and advantages. Some have very low transfer fees, some transfer faster.
   But at Bitcoin, transfer fees and transfer times are not good. People do not use Bitcoin to transfer. With LightingNetwork, things can improve. But I think it's not enough. Because there are better ones. This is a disadvantage for Bitcoin...

Some governments prohibit BTC. People can't deal with BTC!

BTC is very volatile, and many people cannot accept BTC risk!

In my opinion, the manipulation of price could be the reason why other people would not invest in bitcoin. The price correction could be dangerous as we had no control to stop those investors who had dumps their coins to get their profits.

The ultimate reasons why people do not invest in bitcoin is not so much because they do not trust this currency or they are afraid to try a new innovation. But more than that the ultimate reasons are factors which sometimes out of control. This maybe sound funny but it is realistic I will post the list of the ultimate reasons why people do not invest in bitcoin.

1. No money - If you do not have money it is impossible for you to invest.
2, No internet access - In areas without internet access people do not invest in bitcoin because they just cant
3. No knowledge,skills - In third world countries people are more concerned on survival, they have no idea on how to use a computer or a mobile phone since their primary concern in life is just to survive. Of course they do not know what bitcoin since in their field it is not visible.

I guess its decentalization is the biggest flaws of bitcoin that is hesitating each and every country to introduce bitcoin in their nation and making them to ban bitcoin in their respective nation . there's no reason not to invest bitcoin, if we have the money and have the knowledge of the way bitcoin invests, bitcoin definitely will give an advantage, because bitcoin is a very profitable investment tool for now, so there's no reason for me not to invest bitcoin.

i think there's no reason to not invest in bitcoin if you have no money you do not allowed to invest in bitcoin because bitcoin is need money for the income in the investor of bitcoin.

One problem that hinders Bitcoin right now is the amount of transaction it can handle per second. That won't stop me from investing in to Bitcoin though because it'll surely get fixed in the future. Those two things that OP mentioned can't be avoided, for me the high volatility is one thing that makes Bitcoin interesting I see it as a good thing rather than a flaw.

There's nothing bad about mentioning the bad sides about Bitcoin we all know that it has some problems if we ignore it there's a chance that it could get worse. Not everyone here trusts Bitcoin anymore now that there's a lot of altcoins popping out from nowhere making them think that those new coins is better and would catch up to Bitcoin.

Currently, countries do not have specific policies on bitcoin as well as other virtual currencies. That is the reason limiting the development of virtual currency

My reason for investing in bitcoin is if you have a lot of income.

As my own opinion I did not see about the flaws of bitcoin,  when we say about the volatility of bitcoin I think There 's nothing wrong with this situations. Because when the price is declined in a very low price we are also getting this benifits, we can buy more bitcoin in a low price and hold until the price increase. So of the price bitcoin increase in very high value we sell it... and gain more profits.

Frankly, one of the biggest advantages of bitcoin is that it is not controlled by any authorities, and this allows its users to remain somewhat anonymous, although their transactions are visible to everyone. The anonymity of the owners is an important reason for the growth of bitcoin in the last couple of years.

I really don't think that bitcoin volatility is its negative trait. It is my personal opinion, frankly speaking. It is because of volatility in the prices of the crypto coins that the day traders, speculators and investors are able to make huge profits in the market. If the price of the bitcoin does not fluctuate and remains constants, or the value changes occasionally, then it would be not possible to make out gains in the crypto market.

And the dark side which you are talking about or the illegal use of the bitcoin, that problem is serious. the transactions done through the system of bitcoin are anonymous in nature and the identity of the criminal is difficult to trace. So criminals these days have made this crypo market a darknet to fulfill their ill wishes.

Not invest in bitcoin is not entirely correct! Bitcoin is a king, I think everyone should get used to count money in bitcoins, not in dollars! To earn in the crypto currency you should always be guided by the price of bitcoin!

I admit bitcoin has really its own flaws but for me,it's not a big deal.If you really want to gain profit through investing in bitcoin,i'm sure you still have lot of reason why you'd like to do that.Bitcoin is open for everyone so it's up to us already how we will cope up with its advantages and disadvantages to still pursue our goals in bitcoin.

Yes it is considered and is proven that bitcoin has tons of people using it for illegal activities, I won't even name one of those illegal activities but if you are curious about it feel free too google it. You should give bitcoin a shot, I mean it doesn't mean that these things happened that it will also happen tou  you, next up is that be strategic, why not try to split your savings and try to invest in bitcoin whilsyour other investment is on an altcoin, I guess it would be fair right?

There's no perfect application or system.
If I can think and give one of it,I'll choose to say that the flaw of it is that many are not accepting it and are still skeptic about it.

A lot of reason why we don't need to invest in bitcoin since investing requires patience and if we are too emotional and don't have enough patience to wait for the right time to withdraw then we should not invest in it especially when we do have lack of time.

For me it would not be good to invest bitcoin as it always decreases and when it happens your investment will not profit, then you wait when it goes up but when not how you will take back what you lost. This month is not good on bitcoin probably in the following months or at the end of the year. 8)

yes, you are right, they cannot accept something new especially in the technology section so they just don't care about this and abandon until they realize that actually, they can use the technology to themselves. but I guess when they realize about this, it is too late for them to get involved in bitcoin industry because, in that time, they found that the price is too expensive and to earn with freeway it's really difficult to do.

maybe they just afraid because of many people around them telling that don't use bitcoin, it will make you lose your money in any second, the price is too volatile and it's too dangerous for you and bla bla bla.

If you want reasons, then I can list thousands of them. But the top 5 that comes to my mind are as follows:

1. BTC is highly volatile
2. Transactions are irreversible
3. Legal status is unclear
4. It is relatively new
5. Tax complications can arise later

they can't acknowledge something new particularly in the innovation segment so they simply couldn't care less about this and relinquish until the point that they understand that really, they can utilize the innovation to themselves. however, I think about when they understand about this, it is past the point of no return for them to get engaged with bitcoin industry in light of the fact that, in that time, they found that the cost is excessively costly and, making it impossible to gain with expressway it's extremely hard to do.

To the question inter alia, there isn't any invention that hasn't got its flaws. Even the rocket sometimes fails to launch because of flaw. This isn't exonerating the flaws in bitcoin, anyway. For me, the transaction backlog of bitcoin has remained its greatest flaw and the bane of its development. Miners are unreasonably arrogant with their charges.

For me I don't have reason why not investing in bitcoin because bitcoin is good coin bitcoin is going down but this not a reason why you should not invest it .

well, I think this involves your perspective on bitcoin or crypto aside from the volatility you say. but for me personally, bitcoin does not have its kekurang because bitcoin has been designed in such a way by satoshi nakamoto. and what happens for now bitcoin has evolved into a high value asset

it is a risky to investing in bitcoin in india because the indian goverment will prepare to ban the bitcoin so if i invest in bitcoin and if it will banned so i decided to not invest or less invest in bitcoin.

I see no reason for not investing in bitcoin. Bitcoin is the future. In just a few years, we will be just ridiculous today's fall of bitcoin and the entire cryptocurrency market as a whole.  Sooner or later, the price of bitcoin will exceed a million dollars.

For me there is no reason for not investing in bitcoin because bitcoin is a good coin the only thing that you need to do is to be patience and hold it until you reached your goal

Well, couple of reasons come to my mind:
1. BTC is very volatile - that is the reason why it will not be the official currency in the world
2. Investing is quite risky especially for the conservative investors
3. There are some specifics of cryptomarket - like possible future forks, difficulties of mining, ban of big countries, slower blockchain adoption that could lead to bearish market maybe even for couple of years

For me reasons not to invest in bitcoin are the following.

It is very volatile, if you can not handle swings of more than 20% downwards then you might sell it and you will lose some money.

It is still an speculative investment, nobody knows what will be happening to bitcoin or altcoin in the future. It can be the currency of the future or it can be banned.

 

Volatility is caused by determined factors and it's the case for most asset. The price will reach stability when the market reach it as well.

Investing was always risky even in traditional assets and this may not be a reason why not to invest in bitcoin because you will face the same risk somehow.

Those points are the resume of the investment fear.

There are many shortcomings of bitcoin when we see it. One example is the price is unstable and here is the explanation: Bitcoin is a currency that is speculative. While there are not enough companies currently offering the purchase and sale of products with bitcoin as a means of payment.

I like the idea that there is no certainty of bitcoin for the future only once once the results are so satisfactory and not often get a chance repeatedly, so rarely people who dare to invest bitcoin.

I think there is no reason to not invest in bitcoins.. Cause bitcoin is very profitable in many ways.

Because of the risk of what whales can do to the market prices,since now its very obvious that they are manipulating this cryptoworld..i dont know what will happen if they suddenly withdraw all their investments in market..(though i know for sure they wont because millions of millions if not billions is what they gaining by pumping and dumping the coins)

There are no reasons for us not to invest in bitcoin unless we it was banned by the government. If we have a profound understanding in bitcoin and its future, we can't easily resist just for a reason of scam accusations and volatility. If there are other cryptocurrencies that are optimistic, I would rather choose the other ones, because their returns will be higher than Bitcoin. Although the risk will be higher.

Indeed it is not that great. It has some cons too. but if we just consider it's cons we would miss out all the pros it has!

The main reason why I don't invest here in bitcoin because of some scammers are being caught by the police and other investor here in bitcoin are complaining about their money that have been scammed. I thought the there are more scammers now in bitcoin so I would not invest here because I want to become safe my earnings or my money.

This topic has given me great answers and some useless too. Overall all I needed to know has been stated in the given replies and some of the posts in this thread are useless too. I am locking this topic so that no more trash posts or repeated answers pollute this forum!
