I've never,ever understood the mentality of someone who believes in Bitcoin enough to own it,but when thinking it's at a peak,selling all of it.I do understand the desire to sell "high",but I do not understand the mentality of selling ALL of what you own.Why not just sell some of it? That way you hedge.If the market continues to rise,you are still participating in the upside, and if the market crashes,you benefited from selling some of it at a higher price.

I think selling BTC today for any reason is not a good choice, BTC is a primary investment, and another coin like ETH and BCH is a secondary investment, I do not want to sell the primary thing for something secondary.

Selling bitcoin does not need to rush just because the price is not in accordance with your mind. Unless you sell because there is an urgent need even if the price of bitcoin less good.

I think you did the right thing selling rather than watch the price drop and drop.  But I suppose you could have kept some back just in case the price goes up.  But you did the best thing to sell at least some of your holding before the price drops too much.

The price of BTC will go up even in May, but I sold the baraz what I had because I need financial support :). BTC now has a good time. It should reach 12k in May.

There are so many things wrong with your post that it is actually laughable. The market certainly does have the "steam" to break 10k, and you'll be eating your words within a week. Just a few days ago it was down to something like 6k and here we are just below 10k. The volatility is enough of a safe bet to assume that it will break that threshold (again).

You claim that only bitches are buying ETH, but my purchase of ETH at $390 was pretty good considering the upwards momentum and the exchange rate if I wanted BTC again. You say that it is losing it's market dominance, but which currency is more dominant? You claim that a bear market will be triggered if it drops below $9,250, but it was just recently below this and is actually climbing upwards. We're looking likely to trigger a bull market. I have no clue what is driving your conclusions, but they are incorrect and you will be regretful of your decision.

OP's reason for selling his Bitcoin is on the first post. It's not a bad move to sell your Bitcoin at this time if you want to secure your profits. Prices could still go down at anytime.

I brought bitcoin back when it was $6k and there is reason for me to panic as I am in bitcoin for long term returns and not for short term penny returns, so even if the market goes back to $6k or less i would still not sell my bitcoin as I am a believer of bitcoin. And in case bitcoin would fall under $6k then I'll buy more bitcoins in that case too as it will give me a more profit once I will start selling my coins. So the market crash is the best time to go shopping and not when everyone's crazy about the market.

Well good for you because you don't have to think about stress about holding or selling bitcoin whenever there are price changes. Bitcoin doesn't need to break 10k since it has already reached around 19k before it just happened because of dumping and it naturally happens everywhere not only on bitcoin. when btc was 20k its dominance was in the dip if I am not wrong around 35% and the great resistance of btc is not 9500 but 8750 so my friend make your own research and don`t spread fud here.

I am wonder that why you sold just at a time when the market is preparing itself for a big jump to a highest level. You know before the bigger rises in the market the same things happen. It will first go high then a little dip and stay at that level to recover more and then start to rise like rocket. Prices alone dont trigger bear markets, we can ping off any price and it might be quite momentary and insignificant.     BTC is far too volatile to call it like that, volume consensus could be a trend but we have to talk about that globally not just one country or even section of the world.   BTC actually takes a while to form a new trend I think.

Well done on your timely sell but as a trade I also think you should be buying in this area.   To expect more then 10% so quickly is a bit much, the market doesnt move easily in straight lines and BTC especially is volatile which makes calling a larger trend quite hard.   Average 200 day is still rising, thats a fair measure

I haven't sold all my BTC but that's merely 90% of it not because i got shaken during crisis or those nonsense FUDs but because i really need money that time. In fact, bitcoin is rising drastically during that time and still i feel wasted about it because i know it can be a huge money in the coming days. But that's bitcoin, financial hero and a life changer for me.

Maybe there is not enough steam for the next couple of days or 2-4 weeks. But I wouldn't wait too long to buy back in.

Furthermore the dominance index is a pretty bad metric when each week more and more useless coins get listed. This says absolutely nothing about Bitcoin's strengh.
Where I agree with you as that a decline of $400+ in a matter of hours is a short term sign of weakness. But don't forget about the fundamentals who are looking extremely strong and have never been better. So don't become uber pessimistic, because there is absolutely no reason to.
8900-9100 should be a very strong support level imo.
And when you have a look at the weekly chart you'll see we already bounced off from the 50 moving average and got rejected at the 20 moving average. As soon we break through the 20 moving average and stay above it for 2 weeks at least, this could be the sign of a possible next uber bullish rally.

What's the point of spending time on something that isn't worth your time? In the end, if you look through his latest posts, he is very inconsistent with everything he is talking about, so that is already a reason to not take him too seriously. If he sold (which we won't ever find out) then he will likely buy his coins back later on at premium levels, which is something that most people do after regretting they sold way to early.

Exactly, it will not happen that other coins could overtake bitcoin. They must show proofs at least to support their statement, a person can sell btc when in a hurry to take profit. It is case to case basis in which they can take profit on their investment.

Regardless on how many coins he sold, it still does not change the fact that bitcoin would always be the reigning cryptocurrency in the future. The only factor that may decrease its price significantly is due to government or worldwide prohibitions by countries.

Ethereum does not care about decentralisation or immutability. This blockchain is totally worthless. And soon they are going to switch over to proof of stake with all this huge coin holders. LOL
Ethereum has a lot of issues and is in bed with politicians and incumbents of the actual financial system. Furthermore it is not clear if it will be declared as security or not. And the chances being declared or defined as security are pretty high despite all shilling by Andreesen and Horowitz. Expect many exchanges to drop the coin then.
So no Ethereum will never replace Bitcoin. I think it is more likely that it won't have much of relevance anymore in about 5 years. Furthermore there are a lot of strong Ethereum competitors, EOS, Stratis, Waves or NEO for instance, out there who will try to replace it from it's actual second place.

Well if the OP sold when it was mid to high 9000s and bought back in this weekend in the low 8000s then that was a great trade (assuming he can pay the taxes on selling all his bitcoin to make that trade).

He was right bitcoin didn't have the juice to break through $10k yet. Had to reconsolidate at its base support in the 8000s. I'm thinking we might stay under $10k for another month before it finally has enough support to go through $10k. Bitcoin seems to be stuck between strong support in the low 8000s and strong resistance at $10k. Eventually $10k will break since the market sentiment is positive and we're moving out of a crash, but it could definitely take until sometime next month.

Ethereum as usual is the most eminent follower of the bitcoin which is most of the time leading altcoins and standing next to bitcoin in the race. What I believe is that bitcoin will be rising in prices in the last quarter of the year and just like last couple of years, the demand for this coin is going to skyrocket then. I think thse type of nervous investors were affected deeply by speculators. Its what they want, you guys get it? they want you to sell your coins at very low prices cause next bull run will be even bigger than other.

I do not know about that, there are many people that sold their coins at very low prices before the previous bull run, there were people that sold at 2000 thinking that the price will crash immediately after that and even after the price has crashed so much we are still four times above that price, so I really think that there are people that will sell their bitcoins as soon as they get the opportunity which is good for us.

You could have hold and waited more for a more stable and higher price increase. Cryptocurrencies are volatile and if you set your hope very high you will really get dissappointed. bcash, this is a really thorny issue. They are hijacking the bitcoin brand which is is like punching someone in the balls. Is not sportsmanlike. BUT arguably is closer to the original electronic cash of the bitcoin whitepaper. So there is that.

This is very irrelevant because the long term investment is not for panic selling and not to consider as short term because there are currencies which are favorable for long term and Bitcoin is the part of long term investment. If you are investing in Bitcoin in a low market then you must be waiting for long term and could get the profit but you did a mistake and sold out.

Who said selling bitcoin is not good. It depends on the reason why you are selling. This is not about getting more money and for the fact that I decide to sell some of my bitcoin now to at least pay for some things means that I am making a mistake.

Nevertheless, where the problem lies is for those who are selling as a result of panic which to me is an absurd thing to ever do considering this should be the future and people should focus more on that. I believe selling your bitcoins for life expenses is the most valid reason one can have.
You can sell your bitcoin to pay your bills ( I do it all the time) get food (this one too) and generally pay your daily expenses if you are earning with bitcoin.

Not all people buy or sell bitcoin to make money, some people like me earn their living thanks to accepting bitcoin as their payments. I do not buy btc at all, I have never bought bitcoin in my entire life but probably made over 40 bitcoin in total (mostly when bitcoin was low priced of course) and I sold most of them because that is what I am going to live with.

I would say that's really a poor decision you've made, you could just hold on to your possession and have earned a lot from that.

Well it seems that since you made this thread many things have changed, the price is still very similar to what it was back then but you definitely made a mistake when it came to your assertion that the bitcoin dominance was going down hill in fact the opposite has happened and even if the growth of the dominance has gotten slower we are at a point where the bitcoin dominance keeps growing and now it is siting at 53% and it is likely it is going to keep going up.

The future is promising, but it's hard to think at the moment. Everyone knows and everyone is waiting but there are some who can not keep calm. Market up and down due to these thoughts.

At the weekend the price of bitcoin usually gets lowered because people can't make bank transactions and usually can't invest and trade on the exchanges.
But this doesn't mean to sell 100% of your all assets because it isn't a smart move as you usually see going from $10k to $450 is something that could really destroy the whole crypto ecosystem which I think is not going to happen anytime soon.
