Questions about hosting.

1. Who does the hosting? bitmain or sushi?
2. Can i ask my hosted device (and psu) to be shipped to me anytime? If so is shipping fee included?
3. Do i get http and/or ssh access to "my" device?
4. At end of 3 months what happens to device?

The price is set by BITMAIN. Sushi is just transferring the number to you guys. sushi and I will have a talk with bitmain on price problem if you want us t, but dont expect any good news.

I will be surprised if this group buy sells out at 4.25 BTC per unit given the difficulty change coming in three days.

I'm holding off on this one. They have not failed to sell out yet. We will see.

I bought 2 of these for 4.25 BTC each from the Dec 5 shipment, and I'm happy with them. But 2 weeks later makes a big difference. The price for Dec 20 shipment would need to be 2.95 BTC to be comparable to my first purchase, in ROI terms.

If you don't want to buy, just shut up and don't buy.

USB miners went and go for much higher price and people still buy them, everyone is free to make their own calculations and decide if he want's to buy or not. When you go to Best Buy, you also complain about the price and ask everyone there to give you discount, or you just go to another shop?

USB miners actually decreased in BTC price with difficulty growth though, 1.99btc start point down to a wholesale end point of 0.02btc. I am not complaining, i am stating facts based on projections. I respect sushi a lot, he has helped me with a few things personally and i respect bitmain for doing a great job of producing some cool miners.

I'd analogize it more has giving constructed critisisim as a repeat customer to a friends business, instead of walking into best buy and complaining to the store clerk who you don't know and he does not care  ::)

My next concern is

1 PSU on 24/7 for the Miner and 1 PSU on (My computer on 24/7 for the hashing program to be running)
So lets say energy consumption will be about 700watts for both devices so this is my concern atm
Would it be cheap to run the miner program from a laptop than from a desktop computer?

2 units hooked up to a 1200w psu and one unit keep powering down completely while the other still mines away.... they are on the same power though.

im running 2 antminers perfectly with a 1000 W PSU

Melted the pci-e cables. It happened on two 860w corsair platinums running at mine.

The extenders were meted and brown and stuck and the cable was also stuck in psu end

my friend had similar with a 1100, brand I am unaware of.

The metal plate is bendable, the fan needs replaced though.

dunno, the each PSU is only about 4 months old. Only one PCI-E on each PSU/ANT got hot and melted.


does anyone have any experience setting these up on ubuntu? trying to help a friend but i suck  :P

It should be fairly easy. Just ensure that he's on the same subnet as the antminer (white sticker on the control board tells you its default IP address). So in ubuntu he can go to the "network" tray applet at the top right of the screen (depending on whether he's using Unity or the classic Gnome based environment) and manually set the IP address of the LAN adapter to 192.168.2.x, subnet mask 255.255.255.0, etc. The network manager tray applet should look like two up and down arrows (1 up 1 down).

He can also run the network manager app by typing "sudo network-manager" or "sudo network-manager-gnome"

They are set up and mining, but using my windows laptop, he still can't access them from his ubuntu system.

Still no sign of my GB3 unit in MyUPS.  If it went out Friday I was hoping to get it tomorrow, but maybe Tuesday I guess.  The holiday season is interfering with my miner delivery! :)

All of mine in GB3 shipped Thursday/Friday, and I should have tomorrow according to quantum view.

Sadly, some are buying from the group buy, and turning around and listing on Ebay for over $5,000 USD (making at least $500 profit)

i had to sell my first one after the recent crash, and got barely back what i paid for
atm the last one there which was really sold went for 3000€ which is a 0-0 after all the fees
the other listings never found buyers and peeps still buy BFL at 2k€ for 1/3rd of power

majority of the buyer on ebay are scammers, i tried twice selling asicminer cards, they both got paypal claim and charged back the money after mining it for a month, paypal doesn't care and always side with the buyer. 
selling on ebay is very risky, for the seller.

 I am contemplating unloading a number of ASICMiner Erupter USB's, Blades, and Avalon products on EBay to make room for more efficient gear, but these horror stories of EBay selling give me pause.

Have you used the advance ip scanner tool to search a few subnets?

I managed it, but in a different way then the pdf says. I had to push the button for 10 seconds before it got a new ip. The 3 seconds in the pdf didn't do anything for my ant.

Some seriously fast shipping. Had to pick it up in the evening at UPS distribution center. The UPS woman on the phone said the customs duty would be around 67USD equivalent. The people at the distribution center looked at me like I was crazy when I offered to pay. So..yeah, maybe I will get a bill for a "computer game gateway", maybe not. Not complaining. The unit itself arrived in perfect condition and is currently running at the advertised speed.

i just got the units for batch 3, but for the life of me cannot find the ip address sticker on those units, did they forgot to add it? how do i know which ip address those machines are on now?

Got mine today, but sadly one of the blades is broken - two capacitors were broken off the board. Also the metal frame was badly warped and bent. :(

mine was supposed to be shipped on 21 dec. but still no movement. I called UPS but they said they received bill and shipment info but not the package itself . You're lucky the your antminer left china and on its way :(  sushi is looking into this but i fear i won't be able to get it before new year.

one i'm trying to connect is a 600w xilence psu.  In the setup thread  it's written to buy 450 w psu. I think the make-shift jumper wire out of a power cable maybe the issue or xilence psu takes more than to just cross green and black cable i dont know.

Please invest in dell 750 w server psu for 10-15 £, do small modification, and run smooth, as I am doing even with OC :).

If either of the above are your PSU, please note there are TWO 12V rails. Usually this means 1 rail supports the ATX mobo connectors and Molex wiring, while the other is dedicated to the PCI-e connectors.

If you run both sides of your miner using only PCI-e cables on the one rail, you will be using more power than the allowable amperage (at stock speeds, ~360W or 30A). Even if split up properly, you should make sure each rail is capable of a minumum 18A to allow a little bit of headroom.

It sounds like you are running them on only 1 rail so the system starts fine at low power draw, but once it connects to the stratum server and begins to pull the full amperage required for hashing, your PSU rail is overloaded and it shuts down.

use the 2x4pin ATX connectors for 1 blade and a pci-e cable for the other and you should be fine.

by the way folks could you suggest a pool for the antminer to work in ?
