The truth is that the anticipation for crypto to go mainstream increases as time goes on. In fact there are skeptis who would have nothing to do with crypto unless it goes mainstream. Is 2018 that year when blockchain crypto goes mainstream?

I think you're a bit confused here Bitcoins and Blockchain going mainstream are two different things. People may adapt to blockchain ans yet not adopt bitcoins. So it's important to understand the difference here. It's true many companies are going after blockchain but not bitcoins but I feel this'll change sooner people and countries soon will go after bitcoins it's only a matter of time now.

People ask this every year.  How long is a piece of string?  It's all speculation until we actually see it.

Personally, I think that while things are heading in the right direction, there's still a fair way to go before we're there.  Many still argue we're quite early in the adoption curve.  

In terms of "blockchain" adoption, however, that's largely unimportant.  Any companies adopting (or perhaps co-opting is more accurate) blockchain are just building walled-gardens for the cost-saving benefits.  They're not actually creating something for users to see any benefits.

lol. I never knew people ask this every year. My blockchain wallet is about a year old and i have done quite a lot of transactions with it. I cant just wait for when i can actually go shopping and pay with my coin. Thanks for sharing.

Now that companies such as Walmart and Amazon are incorporating Blockchain tech into their business operations, are they leading the way for a trend of retail companies to the Blockchain to make shopping easier? Maybe even introducing their own retail coins to pay for things?

That's certainly the myth they want you to believe, heh.  In practice, they aren't making shopping easier for anyone but themselves.  They're just reducing their level of bureaucracy and paperwork, along with other administrative costs, by getting software to do the record-keeping for them in real-time.  That's all these companies care about.  Chances are, you won't even be able to see their blockchain.  The average consumer won't notice any difference at all.

The average employee, however, might well notice if their role entails administrative or auditing duties.  They're soon to be out of a job, sadly.

Not only companies, but countries are studying the blockchain.
Blockchain technology will disrupt our lives and change the existing trust issues between people.

I think they are just aligning themselves to disruption that will soon hit the digital world and if you ask me, that may be a really smart move.

Bitcoin is mainstream and it use to move all the time, high adoption of bitcoin is really a sign it will become highest currency and well expensive currency, I think the main reason behind the mainstream is acceptance of blockchain by the every almost every well-known companies and it will be higher than this for few more years as adoption by every company which is switching to blockchain as payment build as protection wall around bitcoin.

Well, I think the year 2017 was the year when cryptocurrencies and blockchain went mainstream and it will gain momentum over the years. We have seen exponential growth in the user base during the price rally in the last quarter of the last year and it grabbed the global attention towards it. Yes, the correction took place soon after that but I believe that it will help Bitcoin to stabilize and grow further. There are some people who will keep using fiat currencies irrespective of the benefits of using crypto.

Not really. Mainstream adoption will take more than a year to take full effect. As we can see bitcoin is even facing huge challenges and price drops  though even with these things happening, we're seeing more and more crypto transactions taking place. So mainstream adoption is slowly happening but it will take a lot of time.

When BTC reached crazy prices, media, internet, everything was about it and a lot of people understood it could be profitable. So many people decided to invest or became bounty hunters. I think that it's much more likely that we're still in the institutional adoption phase of the adoption cycle. As you can see, institutional investors are already coming into the bitcoin market at an ever growing pace, and big investors from the mainstream are starting to get their heads into bitcoin as well.

Regulations are maturing etc. as well. You can safely say that levels of adoption has increased drastiaclly already, and level of awareness has increased even faster. But as far as mainstream goes, I think bitcoin still doesn't see enough merchants accepting it, or established services using it for it to be considered to be mainstream just yet.

It is going to take a long time until Bitcoin becomes mainstream but it is heading towards it fast. Since the new all time high price last year, many more people started to gain interest and many average people at least knew about Bitcoin. If it keeps growing steady it could  be mainstream.

2018? I don't think that we can go mainstream right now because of too much regulations going on around the world. Government as constantly at looking ways for people not to go to crypto so I doubt that it will happen this year. But I believe that we can go mainstream, but not this year though. No, I don't think so. There are still some crypto bans that have been passed during this year, we are still in a stage where people are skeptical and afraid of bitcoin. We need to be at a point where people are more educated on crypto and it was more universally accepted and most importantly legal before it can become mainstream. Perhaps in 2020 crypto will start to have it's time, who knows  :) but I don't think this year is the time

I think, because in 2018 bitcoin has dropped very drastically from the beginning of the year to mid-year and this can also trigger a very drastic decline or increase at the end of the year which bicoin very far down to 50%, I also think that ditahun This 2018 investors are very disappointed with the decline in this bitcoin itself

In my perception, we need to do a massive promotion of cryptos regardless of what non believers may think. Cryptos are good, they are giving the unemployed a means of earning living. For cryptos to go mainstream we need to gather forces and prove our critics wrong.

It good to be optimistic about something ones like but we also need to face the reality sometime because things happen at a point of time and I believe is too early for block chain to go mainstream cause some people are yet to understand the project. Besides, an analyzer which don't understand the block chain project once said block chain will be obsolete and that's because he don't know the potential of the project, so there are people like that which need to understand block chain before it could go mainstream.

And I just think the opposite. Peak popularity Bitcoin last winter. Then the masses learned about it and many people buy BTC for a high price. Since bitcoin is a very volatile asset it very hard for one to state the stage which can be referred to as the mainstream stage because of it volatility, but with what we have recorded so for bitcoin is going to do little this year 2018 because of the current crisis bitcoin is facing in terms of it price.

I think it's a snowball effect, maybe 5-10 years ago not that convinced the advancement of crypto as it is today, but the fact that makes crypto continue to exist and continue to be in demand is the role of the market. the more volatile the market positively, there is a growing market demand. and that's where some old players will say 'already mainstream', but in my opinion it's normal.

When cryptocurrencies become mainstream it will be late for making good profit. Its better to buy before that, its best to buy in the beginning, but that privilege was for those who knew about bitcoin in 2010. Ethereum, litecoin, they are old cryptocurrencies, with high price but it can be higher I think. There are group of private company that are pushing bitcoin to be a security or even a legal tender in several countries. Nowadays, some company have already accepted bitcoin as a payment but even there are some who open their doors, there are also some that close their doors. For bitcoin to be mainstream it's gotta be widely accepted still. It may seem like it is but we've got a vast area or countries still not willing to accept bitcoin. It is getting there but not yet. I don't think it will mainstream just yet especially this or the coming year.

No, I don't think 2018 is the year bitcoin goes mainstream.. Giving the tremendous success of bitcoin last year, a lot of persons and government bodies did take note of it, but 2018 is still too soon to actually achieve its mainstream.. I think it needs more time with different countries entertaining different views to it just yet.

I don't think crypto is mainstream enough in 2018, even though bitcoin has ruled the cryptocurrency but there are still many people who haven't used it or even consider Crypto to be something negative.

If they succeed in future than crypocurrency industry will be very near to hit the mainstream By 2020.

Crypto is the trend of the future society, and no one can retrograde in this trend, Altcoins can't be mainstream in 2018, but I firmly believe that their future will be bright.

Cryptocurrencies will not become mainstream. Actualy I think their purpose is to be alternative and opposite concept that we have with fiat money.
That doesn't mean they don't have future and that they will not be accepted and more involved in business and economy but they will not become mainstream as traditional currencies we know. And to my opinion this is good.

maybe this year crypto is little bit having roller coaster ride , because of the market situation is not good for the crypto currency and mainly hit the bitcoin very much low and dominance of bitcoin is great in coin market but still the bitcoin or alt coin functioning not great yet at the moment , everyone is hoping for bull run but dont know when its starts or when to ride the crypto currency. We all know that last year price makes bitcoin so popular. People became more aware of this cryptocurrency and tried to invest as much as possible. But now there is no good happening in bitcoin. There is no assurance that market price for 2018 will goes higher again as what others are expecting. Every year bitcoin gets better and grows in price, and we will learn how this year will end for bitcoin at the end of December.

I don't see it happening this year. We are already nearing end of the year and only a few nations have fully accepted Bitcoin or crypto as a whole. Mainstream is still quite far from happening for crypto. But I have no doubt that Bitcoin/crypto will become mainstream some time in the future.

Nobody can know in advance, whether it will pour into the mainstream or stay in such a position as it is. But as I think a little more and get into the mainstream, by the way progress does not stand still, and every day we go all the way.
