Title: [ANN] [ETC] EternalCoin Incoming fork @ block 11800 [Scrypt] on bock 10938 Post by: eternaluniverse on January 20, 2014, 01:12:17 AM Specifications: Encryption: Scrypt Target Block Time: 3 minutes (1.5 minutes after block 11,800) Difficulty Calculation: every 10 blocks (Kimoto Gravity Well after block 11,800) Confirmations: 1 for transaction (allows individuals to use better judgement), 28 for mined block. Total Number of Coins: 210,000,000 Block Reward: 500 ETC (250 ETC after block 11,800) Block reward will not change. Pre-Mine: 1,300,000 ETC (600,000 of which, will be awarded through bounties, 50,000 will be given away on launch to 50 people) 300,000 ETC+ has already been given out through Bounties, The initial giveaway, and tips Premine Wallet: EcsmBVfmc8XXxHHKbEB1ZsXp8GCkN4YnYW Additional Information: -All coins will be mined within the first 2 and a half years. After this, we will begin to experiment with the minimum transactions fees. -A separate thread for bounties will be made and linked in this post -There are already nominal transaction fees set in place. Why static block reward? I believe a difficulty change is one of the best indicators of a crypto-coins worth, this means that early-adopters are not rewarded, instead the individuals with the highest percentage of hash rate for the longest are the ones rewarded. Furthermore, This will show what will happen to bitcoin after all base reward coins are mined, and prove that a crypto coin can be sustained purely on transaction rewards. Block 10,000 will receive 10,000ETC Bonus Also offering a 25 etc reward for every block with a multiple of 10 eg: 9280,9290, 9300, etc. Windows Client Download: Mirror 1 (https://mega.co.nz/#!48IixBbZ!YlP-8u0JSJvKVMTpW5Ee3U6sj6iE_QUQLNCJ6z_cYX0) Mirror 2 (http://www.putlocker.com/file/865486538EB3E20D) Mirror 3 (https://eternalcoin.sharefile.com/doremotedownload.aspx?type=direct&id=fic4ba9c-ef44-9af4-0ea8-a838dafa396f) eternalcoin.conf Quote #EternalCoin Config server=1 rpcport=49883 port=49884 #change these to anything, can just copy later when needed rpcuser=**YourUsernameHere** rpcpassword=**YourPasswordHere** addnode=69.90.132.47 addnode=162.242.156.243 addnode=85.25.146.82 addnode=76.71.156.73 addnode=70.51.155.179 addnode=70.72.14.12 addnode=116.9.109.191 addnode=188.162.38.222 addnode=83.85.56.15 addnode=82.31.140.32 addnode=116.212.203.138 addnode=2.92.65.101 addnode=95.105.19.254 addnode=89.212.99.205 addnode=31.221.88.106 addnode=192.241.215.76 addnode=218.81.107.169 addnode=198.98.118.241 addnode=54.205.160.65 addnode=46.105.96.190 addnode=54.204.54.238 addnode=54.197.167.39 rpcallowip=127.0.0.1 rpcallowip=192.168.*.* #set this to 1 to mine in client gen=0 #set this to -1 for improved in-client mining genproclimit=1 How To Get Started: Download the client and extract it to folder of choice Launch the client, wait until it opens, close it. Quite a lot, but could be worse .... What is a bit worse with this coin: Network is stuck at block 2680 for last 27 minutes - diff got perhaps too high during the premine, so maybe this will end up in a stillbirth :) The source - git repo full of compiled binaries (great, get a free windows binary with every GIT revision), .o files (intermediate products of a compilation - see, those .gitignore files have some purpose, you should not just delete them :) ) and ".bak" files (what? ever heard of "git diff"? ) speaks clearly of developer with at least no previous GIT knowledge and unknown C++ knowledge - if things break, will he be able to fix it?. Code review: fail. So, this is obviously another get-rich-quick coin created according to instructions on https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=217636.0 - unfortunately, even bribing 50 people with 2 blocks worth of coin each won't help you if the code looks like stuff was quickly smashed together and the launch is also not going well (with parking brake stuck you're not going anywhere...) Title: Re: [ANN] EternalCoin Launch 1/19/2014 - Scrypt based altcoin Post by: eternaluniverse on January 20, 2014, 05:51:50 PM Regarding comments and concerns about premine and pump and dump. Now on one hand, if I pre mined nothing I would have no reason to continue to support, develop, and market this coin, If I pre mined too much people would consider it too greedy (I hope I found a middle ground here at ~0.006) - I consider it shares in the company im working to improve. For this reason, it makes little sense for me to dump the coin and continue working on it, the goal for this coin is for it to be proof that the bitcoin system can survive on transaction fees alone. The plan behind it is to have a "pre-launch" phase for roughly 2 and a half years in which all the currency is mined and distributed, once that phase is complete it will become a transaction network so individuals can move value faster than bitcoin. Now regarding a pump-n-dump, I can give a personal guarantee on how much ETC i will spend per year and it will be at 15% for the first two years, and 30% per year moving forward from that, I would be much more inclined to not reach those maximum values however as It would make more sense for me to cash-out at a much later period, but I may use some ETC to pay fees for my VPS, Domain, Etc.

I am assuming that was directed at me. A very long explanation. What I make of it, is the coins stolen were mined from the pool (no-one is saying otherwise), that is why it seemed to be linked to his account, if i mined block 1 to wallet a, and move coins from wallet a to wallet b block 1 coins will originate from address x (which is linked to wallet a) to wallet b, that address is a unique address that was made to receive a new block and would not be able to send/receive transactions from it otherwise. The linkage to his account is simply due to the fact that the pool ran off his wallet. He assured me he did a clean install of everything as well, my only precaution would be to set an auto withdrawal if you choose to use his pool, but i am inclined to believe him, why stick around if he stole the coins? Would be smarter to start a new identity and begin tumbling coins. I am open to facts and discourse but I am not going to rush to a decision before I have been provided with hard proof, and no-one knows who actually stole those coins for a fact Title: Re: [ANN] EternalCoin Launch 1/19/2014 - Scrypt based altcoin Post by: eternaluniverse on January 21, 2014, 05:11:26 PM Working on version 1.1 which will add a message in the client to say whether client is latest version or needs to be updated.

You will have to wait for block to mature and then send it to another address, then send me a signed msg from that address that says "send me the bonus" or something along those lines. I will send the coins to the signed address only. If it comes from a pool that is fine, I will award it to the person who found it in the pool. Good luck guys!

I would also very much prefer genuine interest as opposed to hype which can lead to pump and dumps and instability. It is also helpful for me to have an active network to perfect my update formula, so there will be less issues down the road.Title: Re: [ANN] EternalCoin Version 1.1 released (1/27/2014) - A scrypt based cryptocoin Post by: steking on January 28, 2014, 05:16:40 PM EUNPkGYusxfTqCHKttwVWnh79yAMeFwGHj

Will be focusing in the mean time on marketing, and on that note I am looking for individuals to promote our coin on reddit, btctalk, twitter, etc. There will be a bounty of 2000 ETC per week per site for an individual to actively post and promote the coin (not spam).
I will pick someone in the next few days, so get started posting now. But, they will only hold that position for a probationary 4 days (during this time runner ups can continue to post) before there will be a vote to decide who will hold the position but the individual who was chosen by me will still be awarded 2000ETC. Eventually, most decisions will be made via a voting system which I will be outlining on the forum very soon. I am also accepting donations to add into the bounty of these positions: ENrwSmy4fMJ1UjoSVU4UHK81ZQG3iLoAUs All proceeds will distributed equally across the positions and an individual can hold multiple positions. EbErAWh6NMpm23434MFaCFWiFnAsEknrfh I will look into making a faucet, my only concern is someone with a proxy using it multiple times. Also, I am actively trying to get the coin on more exchanges but I don't know if there is enough coins floating around for people to do any real trades yet or for it to make sense for ETC to be split in to other markets, as we are currently at ~1.6% of the total coin supply but that amount is increasing by 0.8% a week so I assume in the coming weeks there will be a bigger market to buy/sell. Title: Re: [ANN] EternalCoin now on an exchange(1/29/2014) [ETC] Scrypt based Post by: eternaluniverse on January 31, 2014, 05:59:27 PM I have something I need the community inputs on; I have noticed that the network hashrate doubles/quadruples and halves accordingly, this leaves the network with an unbalanced hash rate to difficulty ratio which causes either fast or slow blocks. I have two solutions for this;
the first is limiting the amount of % the difficulty can raise/go down Eg1Gz5gjN4FuJZfQbBeaaYfEbAhqi9RWqJ the second is making the difficulty recalculate for every block. Ech3SejWBdhgJ9mGR9sheyJu8vbGzHVbDd I have decided that something has to be done, and this change -- whatever it may be, will happen be added to version 1.2 of the client, due to the nature of this update being different (it changes the protocol) the update will be announced a few days before it is released to minimize the amount of people on the wrong fork, pools will be contacted personally. All you simply have to do to vote is send in ANY amount of ETC to the addresses above, all proceeds will be converted to LTC and donated to charity. I have been mining for few hours now on http://etc.bondni.com and it seems that the pool is having some difficulties. First of all, my cgminer client shows that I have found at least a block (user tkminer) but the pool does not show it (if it helps, I have a screenshot of cgminer showing that it found a block). It is also strange that according to the blocks page stats, no blocks have been apparently found by the pool since 28/01. Maybe something got stuck somewhere. !!! If others have the same issue, then maybe somebody needs to look into this issue. On the other hand I also mined on the etc.easy-mining.net pool and blocks kept coming as expected. Regards, tkg Title: Re: [ANN] [ETC] EternalCoin now on an exchange [Scrypt] ONLY @ 15 MH/s Post by: eternaluniverse on February 04, 2014, 05:32:02 AM Hi, I have been mining for few hours now on http://etc.bondni.com and it seems that the pool is having some difficulties. Thank you for the offer. I will accept payment after the issue is fixed. :) For now it should be more like a warning for others that this issue needs investigation and maybe until we have a confirmation that it was fixed using the bondni pool might not be the best idea. This is a follow up of my previous post. After I saw my blocks were not registering on the pool, I have used the block explorer to check the payment address for the latest reported blocks by the pool (6175 and 6176). The block explorer confirmed my suspicions that blocks being credited to the same address as the 6175 and 6176 blocks were still found but not reported by the pool. The whatever round the pool is stuck with (the current round on the pool stats shows to be at 16893.32% from the estimated shares). Here is the link from the block explorer to verify that blocks were found (credited to the same address) after the latest reported by the pool: http://cryptexplorer.com/address/EWYKrmJ7X52TsnrP3aXJ33fYLeZrLwincW I have been mining as a single miner on that pool (this what the pool was listing 1 miner when I was mining) from at least when block 8702 was found until at least when block 8746 was found (but likely it might have been until block 8757) from the link posted above. That is over 20 blocks that I basically solo mined for the pool and they seem not to have found their way to the pool stats. I have been busy working on the actual client as of late and as a result the management of the coin has been suffering. I would really like for people who are holding large amounts of ETC to help with the marketing aspects of the coin (if this is not the case I am even willing to pay for people to promote it), as mentioned on earlier posts. There was not much of a community response so Instead I will try to create a position for 1 individual which will be the community liason / ambassador / whatever-they-would-like. Please PM me if you are interested in this as I do have responsibilities other than this coin which have kept me quite busy as well. If someone can create a faucet I will fund it as well as send them a tip for setting it up / hosting it. On a positive note: Kimoto Gravity Well works and will be included on version 1.2 The domain has been having some issues as well - I started a support ticket but haven't been updated much since then so I will follow up, but for the time being if you are able to replace "http://eternalcoin.info" with "https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=423626" In the forum signature add please do so. The last one was provocative I believe. I have invested in mining this coin a lot so I have interest in this coin being a success. As an experienced developer and designer (both noncrypto) I can help with ideas but I am not sure I have time to implement webpages. The idea of this coin was a crypto currency in which the total distribution would been completed in what I thought was a short amount of time (after launch looking at other coins, I found out some other coins also have a short distribution time as well). My vision of this coin is a ~2 and a half year period which I would refer to as the "beta" -- only because my goal is to perfect the transaction model that bitcoin is currently using, what I mean by that is finding the correct settings of a crypto currency. A problem with the halving model is that transaction fees will have to take over as an incentive for miners to continue to mine, this seems inevitable to me. The other option would to be to continuously mint money but that would cause inflation, which causes the people who don't even necessarily make transactions to feel the burn. That is why I believe a coin should have mandatory transaction fees set in place (a percentage perhaps) so only the individuals who are moving their money (utilizing the network) would have to pay fees. There had to be a way to distribute the coins and I felt 2 years would be long enough to finalize a protocol and client I am proud of, and not so long that I would lose my patience. Final Goal: -The crypto currency would have 210million units in existence (even more in divisible units) -It would have a (0.05%) transaction fee or a small base fee of 0.01 -Network would have a high enough hash rate so that double spend attacks are unlikely -Not prone to inflation Another vision of this coin is that it would actively give back to society either through the voting model I presented or through (0.01%) of all fees going to a treasurer who would allocate the funds to charities depending on community input. I think it would also be a good idea to focus our marketing push after our website is out, so within a week or two I hope. The Eternal Coin programme aims to initiate a global discussion on the nature of money and the concept of value. It takes a long-term and inter-generational approach and is an educative programme teaching the theory and mechanics of currencies. The Eternal Coin encompasses discussion on the composition of currencies which might, for example, enable sustainability. Ultimately, Eternal Coin aims to provide an online tool or "playpen" which will enable communities to design, create and transact with their own currency, whatever form that may take.
