Hello Everyone,

I was just wondering everyone's thoughts on dogecoin. How high do you think it will eventually get? What price do you think we will be looking at after it halves? Although the name is ridiculous, I definitely think it is here to stay and trail behind litecoin. Although I don't think it will ever be worth the $50 litecoin was once worth briefly, or even worth the fairly consistent $20 range recently. But would it be a far stretch to think it would be worth $1 one day? Or do you think more realistically it will be worth 1 cent? If it does sky rocket in value, what will that do to bitcoin? Would it devalue bitcoin? One would think that, that would be true, but it doesn't seem to be true as far as the litecoin\bitcoin relationship. Any thoughts are well appreciated guys, thanks!

DOGE has morphed from a joke to a real cybercurrency contender.  It's been pumped to .002USD, if there is no dump, then sure, in six months why not .01 USD.

DOGE's big advantage is that a lot of services have built up around it.  It's actually pretty impressive.  In many ways it is the equal of litecoin when it comes to "what can I do with my coins" which is amazing given its short history and "joke" foundation.

That's quite obvious or you would not have sold. I think DOGE will hit 1K satoshi within 2 weeks, but what do I know..?

Bitcoin did it, Litecoin did it. Why not Dogecoin? If it increased in 5X in value from where it sits now, I believe it would then be worth a little over .01 USD. I don't think that is beyond reasonable at all, especially after it halves.

Yes, but memes have one characteristic: They vanish almost as fast as they appear. I have seen many altcoins coming and going. DOGE doesn't really differ. It stands out because of the silliness of the meme, but surely not because of the skills of its devs.

It also stands out as one of the altcoins with the largest support network who is actively acting in much the same way the original bitcoin community acted on 4chan years ago, giving away coins and having fun with it. Doge knows its an underdoge and people want to fight for it. You may say it stands out due to its silliness but I argue it stands out due to its powerful community.

it will settle in 250-350 satoshi range in short term.. in long term it will be in 1200-1500 range reaching litecoin or surpassing it...

At .00001250 dogecoin would be worth about .01 USD per 1 doge. I think that would be awesome! It would make me a verry happy man. I highly doubt dogecoin would catch up with litecoin though. If it got to $1.00 USD I would probably have a heart attack.

I don't think it will be that successful once all this hype has stopped it will slowly decrease in value.

Sure the hype will die off, but what will happen when dogecoin hits its halving point? Won't it become even more valuable since the reward for mining is less?

Only time will tell I guess but I don't think it will be worth more than  $20 at any point.

There are currently 35BLN doge coins mined out of 100B. If the doge hits 1 cent that means the total market cap should get to $350 000 000+.
Litecoin market cap is at 550MLN. It isnt too far fetched. A bit of a speculation and the doge would rise to new heights but dont expect to be a newly hatched millionaire :D

Oh wow, yeah I definitely don't believe that dogecoin will ever near $20. I think it is far fetched but possible for it to reach $1, but I would be very happy if it reached .01USD. I think it is very reasonable to find dogecoin to be worth 1 penny per doge.

Like I said it won't reach above $20 because why would it? After all it's basically just another cloned coin but slightly modified.

Of course it won't break $20, I don't think it will even come close. Like I've said before, I think it would be a miracle if it ever hit $1. What I'm really wondering is what will happen after dogecoin hits its halving point. Does anyone out there have any personal experience with a coin during its halving period? What happened to the value of the coin? I think common sense would expect it to increase in value, but I really have no idea.

The value usually goes up when the reward folds, 90% sure Doge will be at 300-400 next month. ;D

I believe it will grow to .00005 over the next couple of years. I think It will be worth roughly 4-5 US Cents per coin. That's when I plan on selling, and while it's under that price... Im buying.

you know how many *billions* of dogecoin they have already mined, and how many more are coming right?? 6.5% 12B mined in the first 3 days. Once people wake up to what a massive scam this was it's dropping into the toilet.

The current market cap of bitcoin is over 10 billion. The current market cap for dogecoin is over 62 million. There is over 12 million bitcoins and over 40 billion dogecoins currently. A bitcoin at coinbase is currently worth $800, a dogecoin on cryptsy is currently worth .00000188 BTC which translates between 1/10 and 1/5 of a US penny. Right now I believe there is an infinite number of dogecoin to be mined, which I also believe is being fixed by the developers. Either way, I don't see why some believe it to be completely ludicrous that dogecoin will reach the value of .01 USD.

As you can probably tell in my previous posts, I fully support dogecoin, but I think you are either joking around or are delirious. Bitcoin has secured it's spot as #1 and Litecoin has secured it's spot at #2, in terms of not just value but popularity. Can dogecoin be #3? Sure why not, but it will never come close to Litecoin.

You know I use to believe this as well, but in the last couple weeks I've had my doubts. Mostly because of how active the DOGE coin community is, and because in the last couple weeks DOGE coin has had more trade volume than LTC. This is significant because LTC is a coin that is readily used as a base currency. People buy/sell other coins using LTC and BTC... So that fact alone should cause both BTC and LTC to have the highest trade volume almost always... yet DOGE took over the #2 spot for several days. (I haven't looked at it lately). That's pretty ridiculous stat if you think about it more.

So yeah, you are probably right... LTC will probably always be #2. However I wouldn't bet on it.

1000+ satoshi. The first DOGE bubble was and still is a repeat of what BTC did last April. Except instead of doing it on the $ scale, it did it on the satoshi scale. That means the next big one could be going to 1000+. And of course $ value is going to depend on USD/BTC value. So if BTC goes up plenty too, DOGE could see some retarded high pump peaks in the USD scale.

4 dogecoin addresses contain 26% of all mined dogecoin.  Just 17 addresses cointain over 60% of all mined dogecoin.

The issue is not that Dogecoin will pass Litecoin, the issue is whether Litecoin can avoid an epic collapse and every alt coin miner abandons it overnight.

LTC supporters needs to wake up. They just got destroyed by DOGE in two short months, hasrate, volume, community. I was not aware of this, very disturbing news. But can it be that these addresses are owned by all the huge exchanges? I hope so.

After checking out the same site, compared bitcoin, dogecoin, litecoin and peercoin. It seems like all currencies are relatively in the same boat. I think this is just the huge wallets for exchanges. That gave me a scare though.

I believe that Bitcoin's hegemony will be coming to an end. It might not be Dogecoin that reigns it in, but another coin will take Bitcoin's position.

You cant compare Bitcoin to worthless DOGE. Are you serious? DOGE got infinite amount of coins and the devs said that they wont fix it, its intentional, thats completely rubbish.

The price of ASIC's which still can ROI to mine Bitcoins are getting too high for most newbies to get into the field. Even basic GPU rigs for coins like DOGE seem much more realistic an approach, and though they may take a few months to ROI, it's still appearing to be a lot less risk and expense for the investment involved. Then there's also the opportunity to make money trading them as well, and the ever-present potential for the value to go up quite a bit, while Bitcoins right now seem to have been too stable and even too stagnant.

I think matt608's comment is extremely invalid. I believe that the exchanges are considered one big wallet. I haven't done a whole lot of research on this so I may be wrong. I'm definitely going to look into this more though.

I built a rig with 7850's, cheap as hell. Everyone said I was dumb for doing it and that the cards were total crap. I've ROI and made a little in less than a month and a half, just ordered 2 more 7850's on sale from new egg and a more powerful PSU. You can check out the rig if you want, link below. At the time of writing this dogecoin at http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency (http://www.coinwarz.com/cryptocurrency) is the 7th most profitable coin to mine. I haven't seen it that low for some time now. It usually stays within the top three and the only reason it wasn't number 1 the whole time was because of flaws in the way the most profitable is calculated. It is very risky to borrow money and put into crypto exchange.
Better to earn.

I would bet the big wallets are pool owners wallets. They are skimming doge's off of miners and miners are letting them get away with it. Doge pools are one gigantic backroom skimming operation. Due to the amount of doge's that a miner gets per day, it is easy for these crooked pool owners to steal some coins from every miner. Miners need to keep track of what they should get and what they do get.

After reading about the history of silver I decided that borrowing to invest is very risky, not something I would really do, but if I had a mill than for sure I would be looking to double it with crypto's, and if someone were willing to borrow me the mill to use I could not resist, haha.

This is true, if dogecoin was worth 1 US penny today then it would have a market cap equivalent to litecoin. Although this seems far fetched, I definitely don't see it being impossible. I really hope that after the halving in about 5 days that dogecoin will rise, at least double. I would like for it to stay steady at 300 satoshis and within the next few months. Even if it does go up though, it appears bitcoin might be falling.

I think people are thinking more of a multiple of 10 than 1000 right now. Ask yourself this and be honest, In November when Litecoin went to a billion cap, did they have the same non-geek community as Doge. NOT EVEN CLOSE!!!!!

I thought we would see a major increase after the halving. Although there was a spike, it is now steadily declining and bitcoin is down to about $534. Lesson learned...

Once mtgox dies (or magically survives) and the 'crypto' world/community stabilizes again we will see which coins survive and come out on top. Have faith in Doge, and Doge will have faith in you  :)

BTC value and all alt is dropping hard...

There is surely a correlation between the Bitcoin drop and the price of Doge, if Bitcoin see's a rise so will Doge, I have been introducing Doge to people I know and the only way they can find to buy it is with Bitcoin, so maybe most user's are going through the same channel, if there was a Dogebase.com or something with marketing to get some attention then Doge could pull away from Bitcoin and its value would not be so dependent on Bitcoin's value, as long as Bitcoin is determining its future than you can bet on bitcoiners (those who hate alts) to continue to attack its price and slander the name of the coin, that go's for most alts.
As for the halving, it will work itself out, I thought it would jump but I did not expect Bitcoin to drop, and Bitcoin looks to be dropping further in the future as it continues to become more stable (until the next Asic orders are delivered), miners will drop out if its not profitable leaving it profitable for those who stay, then it halves again and we could see the process over again, except that at that point Bitcoin will be gaining higher ground and Doge will also have more merchants accepting it, if you see someone throw some VC funding into Doge then things will change altogether.
I am keeping my Doge I bought @ over .xxxxx200 and will be buying more when it hits bottom or somewhere between now and then depending on how low it actually goes, it should fall with Bitcoin if there are no new Doge developments.

Wow, I thought this topic was long dead. I was really optimistic, escpecially because I mined a crap load of dogecoin. But now a days I'm feeling that I should have sold all of it when it was over 200 satoshis. Without market manipulation, I don't think we will ever see it that high again.
