Bitcoins distributors are increasing. Indeed, the symbolic bar of the 3 000 distributors in the world has just been crossed, and there are about six new installations each day. So the situation is changing very quickly.

Honestly I can't understand people who are using ATMs to buy bitcoin or any other altcoin - crypto in general. Most of the time rates are way higher than if you go and register on some exchange and trade directly. Secondly, there is no support on the spot and some ATMs even ask you to provide them with your IDs and they will take the picture even if you are buying only one time and guess what this doesn't sound like the best deal for me. You give them your ID and you overpay for the price for what? If you are going to do KYC better is to follow up and go with trustworthy exchange in my opinion.

Number of BTC ATMs is unquestionably increases every day, but when you look at map of available ATMs approximately 2500 of the total 3100 is located in North America, 1972 in USA and 535 in Canada. I think that this fact speaks for itself, we are far away to see much better coverage in other part of the world. For instance one small European country Austria have 178 locations, and so-called most friendly county Japan only 11 locations.

Not all of them are allowing to buy and sell crypto-currencies ( 35%) However only half of the distributors offer anything other than Bitcoin, the Litecoin being the most popular crypto-currency.

I wish there were more ATM's in my country. We have 6 in total, spread out over 4 cities.

3000 ATMs is not a lot to compare to billion of people in this world, but it's still amazing how fast it's been growing.

This month, the total number of bitcoins-ATMs around the world exceeded the 3,000 mark and currently stands at 3128. Currently, an average of 6.72 ATMs is installed daily. This is evidenced by the data of CoinATMradar. The new frontier was overcome only 15 months after the mark of 1000 cars was passed in early 2017.

At this level of adoption, personally I really doubt that ATM volume either way has any real effect on the market at all. If you look at how big the market cap and total volume is now, and then start to think about the potential numbers that the whole network of ATMs can realistically put out, I don't think it's much. ATMs are nice options for people, but for the most part it's probably going to be 'small time' investors and such(no offense meant to anyone).

In my opinion the really exciting stuff is hearing more about the institutional interest and support that's building. If BTC is ever going to break into the trillion dollar market cap zone, it's going to be from it's integration into the global financial system from big players.

Is it a true news? If it is true then people will more interest in bitcoin. But as many members are telling that bitcoin investors are decreasing now, then how can bitcoin has 3K ATM! I am confused  ???

If they have 3000 bitcoins atm worldwide it is good because the user and investor of the bitcoin can easily buy and sell bitcoin. But the price of the bitcoin ATM is very big difference compared to the price in website so it's not worth it to use bitcoin AtM .

What is to be so confused?
Most of those were ordered a long time ago, you don't wake up in the morning and say: "I'll put a BTC ATM  in my store today".Most of those companies that run the machines have started a long time ago and their plans were probably matching the last bull run, not the fall to 6k.
2000 of them were already in place by December 2017.

Besides, ATMs are not targeting large investors, they are just made to trick newbies into buying BTC with huge 7-10% or in some cases even 14% fees.

You can fake trade volume but you can't fake stores accepting BTC or ATMs in service.

It's a matter of surprise now 3000 ATM is world wide and increasing day by day. Situation considers the future world will be accept the bit coin currency.

In my country also available ATM but I never buy any coins from it just because of its high fee. Unless they reduce the fee not many people will buy bitcoins from these ATM's. Only people who don't know how to buy coins from exchanges or want coins urgently then they may buy in a small amount otherwise no investors want to pay a high fee for the bitcoins.

I saw Bitcoin ATM around 2000 location in the USA. And another country has few. It will increase very soon I hope.

In my country indonesia ever had ATM bitcoin, but yesterday I tried to come to the location of his machine ATM machine was not working anymore, I'm actually quite concerned, teknlogi already advanced why should be neglected again.

Thats the sad reality,though in Asia specifically philippine has two Bitcoin ATM that located in Baguio city and Makati city.but this is not enough places if our target is to spread this crypto community to the world.

There are 190+ countries in the world and just 70 countries have at least bitcoin ATM at the moment. When it comes to Asian and African continents there are very low amount of bitcoin ATMs. That means there are lot more steps to go in order to bitcoin to  be more popular among the people.

However, it is good see that bitcoin ATMs already gained popularity in USA, Canada and Europe within 9 years of bitcoin's birth.

This is a sign that bitcoin is becoming more famous and famous amidst the negative publicity against it. Bitcoin ATM will allow people to have an easy access to bitcoin, they can easily sell and buy bitcoins whenever they want since there are bitcoin atms anywhere. When trading was allowed in China they fake volumes, this is true,.But since they ban trading and stop to be friendly even to miners, they are not more important, only thing they are interested now is blockchain. What is more interesting is that in a way of crypto ATMs USA&Canada are far away from others, and by that myth that Japan is most friendly country in the world is not so true. Maybe they are by the regulation, but by interest of people certainly not.


I do not know is it due to that cryptocurrency is not regulated in Asia or just there is no interest from people, but I read that investing in one ATM can pay back in 3-6 months because buying/selling crypto on ATMs is usually the most expensive and most unfavorable solution for users.

In contrast, in my country I have not accepted BTC, so I have no idea what is the ATM used for BTC. If such a high fee, I think we should invest in a smart phone that can be traded anytime and anywhere when we need it, regardless of ATM charges.

It's the easiest way to get some bitcoin. It's true that the commissions are very high but it's a way to spread the bitcoin around the world, so welcome the bitcoin ATMs!

Probably it's true that we are at the revolution of crypto in our society. We will live with crypto in our town, cities and places. Business is business we cannot stop that.

In fact, the pace is accelerating because in less than 18 months we saw 1 000 new distributors installed. Despite the impressive fall in the value of Bitcoin, the craze remains the same, and BTC seems promised to a bright future . We all hope so !

I'm in on getting the word out for bitcoin, especially if it will help the adoption grow on a global scale, but honestly these ATMs are only situated mostly in North America and Europe, with a few operational machines in Asia and Australia. The distribution of the ATMs is still centralized on these locations since ATM owners and operators know that it wouldn't be profitable to place them on places where there isn't mchcrypto action going on. Hopefully though in the near future, these ATMs would still be operational and that is a proof that people really use these as an easy way to procure BTC.

Still lot of work that must be done , but all hope is not lost ! It seems that several start-ups are currently working to install ATMs Bitcoins around the world . I hope it will be done soon .

Bitcoin is not easy to control. It's not a matter of trust but a matter of control. But no atm in turkey ist sad.We want to usefully for bitcoin everywhere .

of the 3rd world countries and many of them are staying in metropolitan areas and they have never seen any of these

Yes, I understand that these machines are expensive and that the fees are high, but why not target these areas for all the

smaller transactions that would be possible? Just take all the money that are flowing to these countries in the form of

remittance services. If there were Bitcoin ATMs in these countries, then people would not have to use these expensive

In these cases it's probably cheaper to hire actual people to run a kiosk to buy and sell than it is to import, run, and maintain an actual Bitcoin ATM. Security might be one of the major issues, but if that can be taken care of I don't really see the need for machines in most lesser developed countries(yet at least).

Transfering BTC you bought at ATM and selling them is more expensive than MG or WU, Atms have high fees, it makes no sense for remittance users that scarp for every penny.
Second, it makes no sense to target those when the guys that work in a developed country have already access to the banking infrastructure so they could buy bitcoins via wire from an exchange with lower fees, and remember that most of those ATMs are just fiat>BTC and are not allowing you to sell BTC.

It's pretty simple economics, just as you don't build a hyper mall in the middle of Qardho (10k pop town in Somalia) you don't put an ATM in countries where people can't afford to buy 10$ of coins.

This news is not bad at all, it symbolizes part of what we envisaged and expected to happen with Bitcoin's existence. At least, it is going to be A good signal to many other countries who are yet to be in support of Bitcoin. But I believe Rome was not built in a day. The onus lies on you and me not to downgrade the Bitcoin potentialities in any country where we belong so that its acceptability could be at a faster rate, which will in turn favors us where such ATMs can be able to go round in some other countries for the progress of investors on the platform.

There are more and more Bitcoin ATMs which are really convenient in use. Many people are complaining about their high fees but keep in mind that they are available all the time and don't require any verification. Their owners risk a lot because Bitcoin price changes all the time. I really like how they work. I am confused whether I should be happy or sad with the presence of this bitcoin atm. I can not feel this atm because this atm is not in my country. Besides that, I also prefer altcoin rather than bitcoin. So if atm is only special for bitcoin then its benefits a little. I believe that South East Asia is the one major contributor for 3000 ATM since the majority of the country the using is bitcoin is from SEA( Japan and Korea).

Here in my country one the of the city here was we have a ATM but i am not also using it because of high fee so that i do muct prefer to cash out and cash in in some banks and store. ATM in my country was continues operating even thou our country banned bitcoin but right now was fully operated and totally bitcoin legalized.

In my country, in Indonesia there are also some bitcoin ATMs. But most people in our place use bitcoin ATMs just to buy in small quantities. After buying bitcoin, they do not hold it, but instead use bitcoin to pay for groceries. Although the use of bitcoin in our country is still uneven but I think the bitcoin ideology as a means of payment has become a reality.

Hi there Fawez! It sounds so interesting. I haven't seen so many ATM you are talking about. Who is the company behind those atm? Is it fully operational or it is just a plan? However, do you have the maps or the link where those ATMs are? And do all of those residing in each country? On the other hand, I have rarely seen bitcoin atm. And I didn't even have tried to use one. But I hope in the near future, people will be accustomed to those machines just like how they use the ordinary fiat atm machines. Additionally, transaction fee and speed should be addressed first before those machines could function almost instantly.

In all seriousness, you can't possibly compare traditional bank ATMs with Bitcoin ATMs. Bitcoin ATMs are a niche in every possible way, and quite expensive to use, especially in the very early stage.

Earning back the initial capital of the ATMs isn't the main problem. The main problem is that you have to earn back your license costs, which easily exceed the $100,000 mark, and then there are steep renewal costs.

That pretty much explains why most ATMs are quite expensive to use. Only with mass usage they will be able to socialize their operational costs to offer lower overall usage fees.

It's a good push towards the future, but I have to agree with the guy above. Super niche. The individuals who care will be the ones already using BTC/Cryptos and that is it. Here in philippines we already have 10 or more branch of bitcoin atm machine and some malls already accepting bitcoin as a payment. For me our country is on they way to make bitcoin so ligalized.

This progress shows that not all banks are against Bitcoin existence and they are considering that Bitcoin is not a threat to their current system like what we are usually read in this forum that banks are afraid of Bitcoin. ATM facilities are all owned by the banks so if this will continue then for sure many will join the Bitcoin investments as converting it to fiat will be much more convenient.

Transaction speeds vary but usually your purchase is visible (not yet confirmed!) on your wallet in seconds after completing your transaction. That is a hell lot of ATM out there. Do they support AMs and MCs? But I just wondering, is there so many bitcoin or alt holder that is cashing out their possession every day, especially that the price is not performing very well? Well I understand where your coming from but also you need to understand some people also need to get their money fast. Selling in an exchange and getting the money takes time. This is the reason why we have ATM's not only in Crypto currency but also this is the main reason why we have banks ATM. Also this is helpful for tourist. You can use your crypto to get cash quickly.

This is a great news I believe this will help a long way in the legality of bitcoin because you can use your cryptocurrency to get cash easily compared to exchange transactions. Am patiently waiting for this to happen and gets to my country too because they so much believed that crypto is the biggest scam because it has no trace.

At first glance sounds like a great number but if you think twice it's not such a big thing because these are fugures for the whole world. So relatively small number of people in the world is using Bitcoin ATMs.

This is really a great news, with this ATM worldwide people can now deposit and withdraw bitcoin whenever they want but then the question is how much would be the fees from it. There is really no information about it, it is a good thing but we still now sure on how the prices of the fees which mostly the company that made this ATM's are earning from. As cryptocurrency holder we like to have a low fees in transaction so we can just trade easily not going negative because of the high fees which really sucks.

The rapid distribution from one place to another is the indication of we are not at the end of crypto but we are just in the beginning of submission.

They still have decent volume though, especially at premium locations.
I've found this quora answer from the person behind coinatmradar.com and he mentioned that some atms were trading 20k - 30k volume on average.

This was 2016, so I'm sure those numbers have increased.

I am happy to hear this news as i was not even aware about it. i am happy to see btc increasing its presence everywhere globally and also people using the same for payments purpose and withdrawals as well.I would like to see something kind of this in India as well after the regulations fall in place.I hope even financial institutions will also fall in place when regulated and can see btc presence everywhere.

Not sure, how ATM will help to spreads bitcoin around the world as they charge huge fees upfront which might actually discourage people to buy from ATM's how ever it is very nice advertising and people will know what bitcoin is.

3000 isn't much but at least the ball got rolling.
There is a long way for crypto to go before mass adoption occurs.

That is pretty cool that we have hit this milestone but in my opinion two major changes need to happen in order for these BTC ATMs in order to make them more practical.

1) Change the fee structure on them. 7% or whatever the rate is now, is simply too high. Make it nominal and more people will use the service.

2) Create two way system. Right now you can only buy Bitcoin which again is nice, but you should be able to sell it too. Obviously there are complications with laws and jurisdictions there, but this needs to be overcome as well if you want to see them utilized at a good clip.

In Belgium also recently an ATM was opened to buy and sell bitcoin/ethereum.

This map is not up to date. I know personally of a lot of new ATMs which have been placed in the past months in cities which don't appear to have any on this map.

It is a very good idea to install more BTC ATM but they must scatter it all over the world to promote crypto currency. but right now we have stick to the plan to use exchanges since it is easier with low transaction fees.

Is there somewhere a map of all Bitcoin ATMs? Like for example on Google Maps etc? I think more of us would find it really useful, because many of the ATMs are not marked in Google Maps...

I've heard they had numerous problems,from different sources. While i haven't used one myself, i've heard mixed reviews and doubt that they are useful.

I think the buy/sell machines would work best up here, getting more people into crypto.  In fact the cash problems in remote villages of Alaska would be a perfect place for Bitcoin usage.  Everyone out there has a smartphone with data, but there are no or very few banks. I think coinatmradar still not updates, i lived in Indonesia but when i was coming along to Bali i didn't found the ATM as showing at map, and i think the data's for some big country such as Canada and USA, it could be more than the number showing. Bitcoin has been growing fast in North Americas and Europe, so from this 2 regions only i can predict it could have more that 3,000 ATM.

Yeah i have seen a picture in some threads showing BTC ATM machine for bitcoins. If you wish to invest in bitcoin you could get it through the bitcoin machine and the important thing with this bitcoin in ATM machine is the transaction fee is lower.

3000 ATMs might sound good, but unfortunately this number is only dominated by the Americas and Europe, few are available in Asia. This shows that the bitcoin population is not evenly distributed in Asia because only Japan already has several Bitcoin ATMs. This problem is greatly influenced by the government's decision that most of them have not legalized bitcoin in their country.

Just those freakin fees are enormous, 4,5 even 8,9 percent per transaction,come on people thats really too expensive. Over the past year or so I am seeing not only more BTMs, but some offering new features. 

I too hope fees will come down, but remember that the owners of those machines must drive by to take cash out of the machines and that they must pay "rent" to the store owner and maintain their machines, all of which costs money...

Don't know how much ATM's are worldwide but I have read that Australia is going to increase number of ATMs from 20 to 500. Argentina is going to install 200 ATM. I read on finder.com that there are almost 2000 bitcoin ATMs in USA and if I remember correctly, article was published in 2017 year. So if we sum up, we have to expect more than 4000 ATMs by the end of 2018 year.

Not sure how accurate that list is because in Romania I know for sure there are 2 BTC ATMs only (1 in Capital Bucharest and 1 in Cluj) and those are with BTC ONLY, no other coins.
