Kolin born as an acronym of "Konscienco Lingvo" which in Esperanto means "Conscious Language" making reference to the universality of language and to the need of consciousness within the technical language.

The Kolin platform was created for becoming a bridge between different cultures, languages and also to ease access to education. Thus, Kolin platform will become an agent of change by creating the first decentralized centre for translation and information exchange. Multilingual and open technical material will be generated within a social branch of the platform, and a private branch will offer translation services to private entities. Working both in parallel in order to make access to knowledge universal, making Kolin a core point for the generation of a more inclusive world.

Aims and objectives?
Kolin born as an acronym from the Esperanto "Konscienco Lingvo" meaning "Conscious Language". Kolin will be the first decentralised cryptocurrency mediated centre for translation and information exchange, shortening language and technical barriers within a user-friendly environment. The platform will be online and separated into two sections, social and private working in parallel.

The private section will work with specialized and certified translators offering their services and knowledge for translating private documents in a confidential manner. Private documents will be secured via encryption within the Blockchain adding an extra layer of security to the normal translation process. Prices on the private section will be regulated by complexity and word count, generating personalised quotations for work performed. Translators will be paid in Kolin for their work, including bonuses for speed and accuracy. The Kolin token can be later cashed out on an available exchange or used as a peer-to-peer payment method.

Kolin Social will work in a completely public format. A small proportion of the funds paid on the private section will be made available to a communal pool in Kolin Social. The community will be able to vote on allocating these funds towards requested topics and once the community agrees to a request, volunteers will work translating the agreed community petition. Translation will not only be performed into different languages but also from technical to non-technical language. Volunteers working in the Social section will be rewarded in Kolin by the clarity level achieved, accuracy and word count.

People working on either the Social or Private sections will be ranked regarding the number of works performed, the number of words translated, accuracy & clarity level achieved. Different user levels are included in the Kolin platform’s functionality, named as moderators, writers, reviewers, translators and members, all being rewarded at some point for the platform.

Project innovation: What makes this project innovative and/orunique?

The blockchain and cryptocurrency space is one most exciting developments in recent history. Since the emergence of bitcoin in 2009 cryptocurrency has become a multi-hundred billion dollar industry using blockchain in all manner of revolutionary ways to disrupt the current economic processes including currency, smart contracts, social media and supply chain management. Integral to the process is the decentralization aspect, whereby information can be sent peer-to-peer without a central administrator and without a need for intermediaries on the blockchain, permanently stored and with optional encryption.

Kolin coin leverages all these aspects and gives users from any part of the world a chance to become independent and have access to translation services (documents, articles, websites, etc) into a variety of languages by using the Kolin currency to pay to specialised translators via the blockchain, shortening the language barriers within a user-friendly environment. Technical information too can be simplified and rewritten using the platform performed by experts in the field.

The payment will depend on the market and also the quality of the work as determined by certain measurements such as speed and accuracy. These Kolin tokens are valid indefinitely and are the property of their respective holders and will also be able to be traded on a variety of platforms and converted into different cryptocurrencies such as Bitcoin and Ethereum or straight to fiat currency such as USD or GBP.

Whilst large corporations and institutions may already have good access to language sharing information, the Kolin platform will make available these services to smaller businesses and also individuals from areas of the world where they may not be able to connect to the required language or technical documentation services easily through conventional means without the need for expensive middlemen, facilitating world information exchange without borders.

Yes, the platform will have 2 principal branches. The first one is a private translation platform where private entities will send their documents to translate, in an anonymous process, using "Kolin" as the standard payment method. The second branch will be a public platform where volunteers will translate public information published on the website, those  helping in the public area will be rewarded with "Kolin" as well. Both branches will work in parallel generating an integrative cycle that will make rotate the Kolin token within the platform.

What is Kolin vision?

Although information and communication technologies (ICT) have become global and ubiquitous during the last decades, language continues to be a huge obstacle between people that speak different languages.

How will the Kolin platform work?

For instance, someone thirst for technical knowledge will upload a file into the Kolin platform and will have the option to either pay for a private translation service or offer this file to volunteers that will be rewarded for their public translation.

What blockchain is Kolin based on?

Kolin is based on the decentralized WAVES market standard smart contract. Formed within the blockchain and subject to automatic execution upon the occurrence of pre-defined criteria and events and subject to certain conditions, Kolin tokens are valid indefinitely and are the property of their respective holders.

What is the initial price of a Kolin?

Upon launch, a single Kolin token will be valued at 200 wavoshis and for equivalent prices in other cryptocurrencies (i.e. 0.09 sat). Waves DEX exchange (https://beta.wavesplatform.com/) will be used for their initial sale and distribution.

What is special in the Kolin sale mechanics?

KOLIN will be sold in an Initial Public Sale Offering (IPSO) format, using a standard an transparent procedure commonly used in stocks exchange, with the added benefits that blockchain grants. The above because we believe that the mechanisms generally used for public distribution of tokens are broken. Therefore, the sale will be performed on a completely Public format where everyone can track the procedure of this one.

How does this sale works and what is the total supply to be offered?

The total supply on this IPSO is of 2 billion, distributed on ascending steps of 200 wavoshis and 100M Kolin. This will work on “first come first served” format.

First owners of Kolin will receive different bonus after finalized each sale stage, as detailed next:

Why do you offer a bonus with m.a.p.w.?

As Kolin’s main goal is to shorten barriers between different languages and cultures, we want to benefit as many people as possible with the initial low prices offered. Hence, using m.a.p.w will help to restrict the accumulation of large quantities of Kolin during the IPSO.

For instance, an investor will need to buy a maximum of 1M Kolin on the first stage to receive the maximum reward of 500K. However, if that same person wants to receive more rewards, it must wait until the next stage, where a holder will need 2M Kolin for receiving the maximum reward.

Absolutely !! Just to give a little sneak, one can have a look at the IPO details and the way it is planned. Initial coin offerings (ICO) are an efficient and cost-effective means of accessing mass capital for start-up enterprises or technology entrepreneurs, which might not otherwise have access to capital markets due to strong regulations and/or lack of initial funds. However, ICOs can be also used for fraud and the US Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has warned investors to beware of scammers using ICOs to execute "Ponzi", "pyramid", or "pump and dump" schemes, wherein the last one the scammer use fake news to lure more investors  in to an ICO in order to generate interest and increase the value of the coins, to only quickly "dump" the currencies on to naive buyers.

The mechanisms generally used for initial public distribution of tokens are broken and the trust of early investors lost. For instance, ICOs companies commonly use their own website to offer a limited number of coins at a constantly increasing price. Then interested investors send their money (cryptocurrencies) into the enterprise wallet, which promises to exchange them for an specific number of tokens. This practice although common is a terrible mistake done within ICOs. Investors send their money privately to an unknown address without any warranty to receive coins in exchange.  Furthermore, in this digital age, everyone should be aware that by entering a private website and accepting the cookies you are immediately acknowledging to share your browser information with the site owner, information such as IP address (city/country), language, operative system,  dispositive used, screen resolution, among others. Users are not just sending their money but all of their information, a perfect situation for scammers. On the other hand, ICO's websites show how many coins have been sold so far, but there is no actual traceable record that would support that statement, and buyers are not able to withdraw their just bought tokens until the sale had finished, what could means days, weeks, months or never as happen with many scamcoins. Transparency and accountability is strongly needed for improving the confidence of new and old investors within the cryptocurrency market.

Here is proposed a new approach that could help to strongly put back in track the initial cryptocurrency offering process. An example of this is how private companies or corporations raise investment capital by offering its stock to the public for the first time. These enter on the market by listing their stock (or shares) on a public stock exchange, such as the New York Stock exchange (NYSE), the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations exchange (NASDAQ) or the London Stock exchange (LSE), in a process commonly known as initial public offering (IPO). Thus, an IPO is also commonly known as “going public”. Blockchain technology has strong potential for being used in an IPO format, what could not only save the initial cryptocurrency coin offering process but incentivize well-known companies to enter into this developing market.

As mentioned above, blockhain technology is a strong weapon to be used in an IPO format. For example, instead of making ICO offerings private, which grant no security for the buyers, sales can be performed on a completely Public format where everyone could track the procedure of this one. Public decentralised cryptocurrency exchanges (DEX) can be used for offering tokens at different previously established prices, during the IPO campaign, enthusiasts and supporters of the enterprise/token/currency initiative will buy some of the distributed cryptocoins with fiat or virtual currency.  As tokens are available immediately after purchase and they are property of their respective holders, these can be traded within the same exchange or held further by the buyers. Due to blockchain transactions can be tracked within decentralized exchanges and a whitelist (list of largest holders) is constantly generated, this makes the process totally public, transparent and traceable.

We also suggest another two ethical terms to be acquired on this Initial Public Sale Offering (From now on IPSO). Firstly, for avoiding large token accumulation from white-collars and to keep the bonus system currently used within ICO, the bonus must be restricted by a static Maximum Airdrop Per Wallet (M.A.P.W). The use of MAPW will help to benefit as many people as possible with the initial low prices offered, promoting at the same time the coin holding and buys until the next stage due to the bonus stacking process.

As a MAPW example:

1st stage: 10M Token at 2 satoshis ; owners will receive + 50% bonus (m.a.p.w 50K)
2nd stage: 10M Token at 4 satoshis; owners will receive + 25% bonus (m.a.p.w 50K)
3rd stage: 10M Token at 6 satoshis; owners will receive + 10% bonus (m.a.p.w 50K)
4th stage: 10M Token at 8 satoshis; owners will receive + 5% bonus (m.a.p.w 50K)
*m.a.p.w. = maximum airdrop to be received per wallet

In this example, an investor will need to buy a maximum of 100K Token on the first stage to receive the maximum reward of 50K. However, if that same person wants to receive more rewards, it must hold the tokens until the next stage, and the wallet would need to possess 200K Token for receiving the maximum reward.

Secondly, in order to prevent pump and dump schemes, we strongly recommend integrating the concept of Company Ethical Support (CES). This will consist on a reinvestment of the 50% of the total raised money during the sale, in order to keep a support buy order for the total coins/tokens sold, at a price a 50% lower than the price of the current stage.

For example,

If a coin initial sale was at 2 satoshis and 30K coins have been sold, a buy order for 30K coins should be kept at a price 50% lower than the current price (for this example 1 sat), protecting the enterprise and investors from big coin dumps.

This proposed IPO system will be used for first time on the Kolin sale IPSO, reinforcing the need for a public sale standard within the cryptocurrency market.  This document is also an open call to all ICOs to incorporate the public IPSO format and the two ethical principles explained, in order to empower the cryptocurrency community, take back the transparency and accountability that blockchain technology implies and to fight back against cryptocurrency scammers.

Sincerely, Kolin is one of the best projects I've seen in 2018, the idea is incredible, I believe it will help connect many people, who are often separated from the rest of the world by their native language. Indeed there are a few reasons why we chose Waves platform instead of other chains,

1st., Although ETH has a fame already, the gas fee needed for processing transactions is really high. As we wanted to make an inclusive project, we needed to considerate the fee costs implied on the network.

2nd., Waves is much faster than ETH, processing transactions in seconds instead of minutes. Due to it works with PoS instead of PoW, there is no need for mining neither, giving more stability and increasing the numbers of transactions processed simultaneously.

Question #2. Why did you decide that blockchain should be the basis of your project?

In a globalized world where technology shows exponential growth and development, Blockchain has stood out as one of the strongest and more promising technologies developed during the last years. Thanks to blockchain technology transactions can be performed in seconds without specific intermediates, allowing diffusion of information on a faster, borderless, and more dynamic way. Difficult paperwork is not needed because each transaction is immediately recorded within a chain, and corroborated multiple times by peers.

Kolin’s principal aim is to become the first decentralized center for translation and information exchange, helping to overcome the current limitations that language still has. Kolin will be able to help any person in the world to have access to translation services without the limitations that current procedures have, for instance, a person from India could ask for a translation to a native German speaker or vice versa using the blockchain for paying for the service. On the other hand, blockchain allows the automatization of the process easing the access to international interactions and transactions.

Question #3. Why did you launch the ICO? Was it the only option to collect the funds?

Although there are multiple ways to help entrepreneurs to collect funds, blockchain technology goes further than that, by allowing common people around the globe to participate in the process. As Kolin is an inclusive project, our initial offering process is completely aligned with our project ideal of shortening barriers between different languages and cultures.

As a team, we believe that mechanisms generally used for public distribution of tokens are broken and losing credibility. Here we proposed a novel and innovative standard procedure named, hereafter, Initial Public Sale Offering (IPSO). The proposal takes the best from an ICO process and mixes it with the standard procedures performed on Stocks exchange listing, also known as Initial Public Offering (IPO). These enter the market by listing their stock (or shares) on a public stock exchange, such as the New York Stock exchange (NYSE), the National Association of Securities Dealers Automated Quotations exchange (NASDAQ) or the London Stock exchange (LSE). As blockchain transactions can be tracked and tokens are immediately available after purchase, the IPSO format increases transparency empowers the cryptocurrency community and generates an accountable process, which is rightful to what in our understanding blockchain technology implies.

Question #7. Why is your project better than your competitors?

From the best of our knowledge, there is no other project that uses blockchain technology for creating a platform focused on translation and information exchange services. Kolin could become the first blockchain project that joins people from different cultures and languages, in order to pursue the creation of an international but at the same time borderless platform. This yet unexplored niche could become the solution for international relationships, where instead of creating a new language people’s knowledge is used for helping their peers in common challenges, as it is to decrease the language barrier.
As an example, although English is the agreed universal language, there are just 360 million-odd native English speakers. Chinese and Spanish, on the other hand, are the most spoken languages having 1.2 billion and 400 million native speakers respectively. This language barrier limits access to education and business opportunity to a huge proportion of the World population. Thus, Kolin pursues to solve that issue by working directly with an international and strong community and also with entities involved in the educational process, i.e. Universities or Foundations.

Question #8. What are the major ways of monetization for your project?

Two principal branches are considered within the Kolin project, a Private section will generate income by offering translation services to private entities and people in a totally confidential process. The first release of the platform considers this section as a priority for assuring the proper function of the second branch.
A Public branch, on the other hand, includes international volunteers in the process, which will offer translation services between different languages, and also “translation” of technical knowledge to a more inclusive and common language.
Solvency will be reached by the interaction of both sections. A percentage of the income obtained within the private section will be transferred to the public branch for paying volunteers with a bonus for the services performed. At the same time, the social branch will strengthen the Kolin community and will help to the project’s diffusion.
Initially the project will be funded by the income obtained during the IPSO, but lately, the private section will be the principal source of funds, benefiting from the high demand for translation services.

Question #9. Which markets are the most attractive for you right now? Do you take in consideration the USA and other countries with the legal restrictions for the crypto crowdfundings?

Currently, we are focusing on markets were most non-native English speakers are, i.e. Chinese and Spanish speaking countries. In the future Kolin considers expansion to include Hindi, Arabic, Portuguese, Russian, French, German and Japanese. Further languages will be considered by community demand.

Question #10. Describe your project in 3 years? Will it change something in the world?

For 2021 Kolin will become the first and standard decentralized center for translation and information exchange. Gathering thousands of people within its network, helping each other for overcoming common issues as the ones implied by cultural and linguistical differences. Kolin private could become the standard center where diverse enterprises or natural people come for translation services, i.e. for document translations, movie subtitle generations, scientific paper translations, among others. On the other hand, the public section could work directly with educational entities by producing public and open technical material in a more understandable format. Volunteers working on the public section could be from University students to specialists in their areas of knowledge. As a matter of example, Kolin could become in the new Wikipedia, where volunteers are rewarded for their work and information is always published in a common, understandable and multilingual format.

Ethics is one of the strongest parameters when a new member has been chosen. The core team is integrated by specialist people in their area and that have been selected specifically because of their ethical behaviour. The current form may or may not be up to the mark in case of a free translator service which is opted/ and in cases of localized or country specific market the service outreach becomes restricted.

Kolin - paves the way by being a digital token using the block-chain technology which is paperless, border less, efficient to use and many more to its advantage and collaborate by hosting 2 branches - Private and Public.

One can use our platform to translation and exchange any type of information based on the above 2 mediums - and this can be from one language to another from any part of the world.

The project is non-for profit. Transaction fees are paid in Kolin but the cost is minimum for keeping everything running.
