Diversification is indeed key, also timing is very important, especially with this amount that you will invest. Why won't you look at ETH? Price could easily go x3 if the markets recover. However, I am disappointed with NEO lately. When a large number of people begin to pay simultaneously during ICO, the network simply refuses to work. I think you should invest into projects that are exploring a new niche that haven't been explored before, also invest in projects that are looking to disrupt niches that have been explore before(e.g, EOS). Make sure the community backing is actually massive too. 10btc is a lot of money, be patient and take your time doing a thorough and proper research before you make the move.

You're making too much of diversifying and the more altcoins you're going to scatter that 10 bitcoin, the more the market will stay on bear market, you don't have an assurance to recover that quick. If I were you, I'll just sit it all over bitcoin. If you don't wanna exchange your BTC to USDT, I think you'd better hold BTC cause at the moment it's really hard to find out a good altcoin to exchange your BTC to, at the moment whole market is falling so I think BTC/USDT is the best option right now ;D

Though if you really want to invest some it, you might want to reconsider ETH, because you know, so many altcoins are building upon it, so its value is definitely long-term. even if just a small portion of that 10BTC should get you a good amount in ETH. In another way, if you want to invest in some altcoins, it will be risky, because there is not safe crypto more than btc in this period.

Currently almost all altcoins have the same trend, so dividing investment in some marketcap level will probably be a good idea for portfolio in the next few years.

You may choose to randomly select five of the top15 marketcaps, then buy 3 altcoins with different business concepts that have little market capitalization, and buy 2 new projects.

It looks like a lot of global altcoin are worth pursuing long-term investments. Then some coins with smaller market capitalization, such as Xvg or iost are also very worthy to enter in the portfolio. And it will be more challenging if 1BTC is used to buy 10 new tokens.

Yes, while investing into something we have to be very careful because in this bearish it is always good to buy the coin. But before investing you have research yourself on which coins we have to invest, In the above-mentioned coins there is a huge prediction in the market, now those prices are very low in the market. Check out Bittube for example. They are one of the rare coins with a working product and very fast development speed. Highly underrated atm. If you would like to go really high risk you could check out also something like Dripcoin, which is a very new MN coin but with unusual transparent and up to so far honest developers. Overall I have three golden rules for my due diligence and investments. 1. Easy entry If I don't have to pay much or if I can get in a coin easily on any other route I take it. Why not? Rarely happening though. 2. Working product / very promising business case Most coins just have promises, even the big ones. If I find a coin with real world usage and an already working product I take it. Downside here is that most of these coins already have a high price. Gincoin for example. Bittube is a gem in this category because it has a working product and low price. 3. Active developers / good community This is always the most important and promising category but it is also the most time consuming one. You have to join telegram, discord, slack,... and become an active member of the community. Then you can get an idea how dedicated the devs are, how often they are breaking their promises, how well their plans are going,... This is especially very important to figure out very new coins. Dripcoin is my recent example here but I also had huge success with Idealcash. Bought it some months ago for 1,5 Sat in average and sold it for 30 Sat. Still hodling a good bag though. If I were in your situation I would wait a little longer, gather info about strong alts and when is the right time and bottom is near or already been touched, make the buys without any hesitation.

So it seems that whatever you choose from the famous altcoin, most will be profitable in the future.

Although diversifying is a good habit, I'm not sure doing it in a bear market is the best approach. I know of a few where there's huge accummulation going on at the moment, like efx, chx, man, cpc etc....even ven, nuls, ins and tio are worth considering. Don't forget the upcoming ICO's, there are a few gems in the making :).

There are some fairly good chances that once a bull run commences you will see gains of 100% in a lot of the altcoins as they attempt to return to levels seen earlier on in the year. If you consider that many altcoins have dropped by 80%, then a 100% gain from current levels would still see them at only 40% of previous. Yeah, I think it's not exactly a bad idea, as long as you are choosing potential coins. I read an article where someone mentioned how you could grow your income by converting your BTC to altcoins and I really buy the idea, although I believe that you shouldn't totally convert all your BTC to altcoins. You might want to consider having some investments in BTC. In my opinion all these coins has massive potential to going up to the top price again, those are DASH, NANO, STORM, AION, XLM,ADA.

Don't force you to trade with 10 Bitcoins, your Bitcoin is more valuable than Altcoins. It's better that you buy Altcoins 1 with 0.5 Bitcoin and 9.5 Bitcoin to back up when the altcoins you buy are down in price. New software developments are happening with new core release soon. Also some other community members will likely list this coin somewhere with more liquidity in the near future.
It's currently traded on https://zapple.com/ (https://zapple.com/) which unfortunately is not on coinmarketcap at the moment. Coin is very under the radar, it's worth a gamble imo.
