Title: Is Bitcoin Dead?
Post by: Manue_77Smith on July 04, 2018, 07:15:52 PM
Bitcoin prices have been in a free fall and dropped to a low of $5,860 a week ago.

It meant it dipped below $6k for the very first time since October 2017. Cumulatively, BTC has lost 70% of its value in 2018 and the peak of $20k on December 17 is just but a stat now.

Yes definitely dead. No moon.

Service being held next Tuesday, refreshments served. In lieu of flowers please donate any remaining BTC to the forum.

On a more serious note BTC is still up from 1 year ago. So considering that growth it would be hard to call it dead. You also forget that for BTC to die the community would have to as well. This isn't going to happen; while mass adoption is what will be needed in the future, BTC can survive in a niche form until such a day.

Just look around how many people are using it in exchange for goods and services. People just have to stop looking at it in a sense of buy BTC today, rich with Lambos tomorrow.

why You have to ask this: "Is Bitcoin Dead?". see that the price rose from $ 900 to $ 20,000, if the price had such a high increase that everyone celebrated a lot, then would not it be more natural the price fall a lot? why the hell do not many people think that it is possible and natural the price fall a lot? this is a very volatile market and this is expected to happen. Bitcoin is not dead because there are many people who use it and the fact that the price falls a lot is something normal.

Comparing to last year price in early February, the digital currency bitcoin hit a startling milestone when its price surpassed $1,000 for the first time ever. How in the world can you say that bitcoin is dead when in fact it still gains approximately 600% from last feb. 2017 price? Im not sure if my calculation is correct but doing simple mathematics can show that bitcoin is not dead. What is happening now is just a correction and we might see the next bull run coming.

Just compare every year and ask that question again  :D I was following Bitcoin from like 400$+- and it was year 2016 if i remember correctly . And almost every year there was really big price drops and it recovered . Ok i understand this one is kinda scary from 20k to 6k . What will happen if btc in future reach 100k ? It would possibly drop to 20k-30k and people will ask your question again :)

No bitcoin is not dead, bitcoin has a bright future. It never dead. Now the price of bitcoin is very low but dont judge the future with this value. For this year end we have five more months anything can happend in the market. Suddenly the price will go high, but no one cannot predict the market. Currently the price starts to increase hope it will continue in future. If it happens the price of bitcoin will have tremendous growth by the end of this year.

This does not mean anything, it can not always be with such a high price, and if statistics are to be believed, at the end of the year it should beat new high price records.

Oh, how many times Bitcoin predicted death. 2011, 2014 ... and now. Each  To the Moon some people believe in his quick death. But he's still alive! Everything that happens to him now only  a pattern of market but nothing more. Remember the events of 2014, when  Bitcoin was a sharp rise in prices and fall after.  Bitcoin did not grow much in price all 2015, and in 2016 it began to grow again. I think everything is going on now  in the same way and us still expect a lot of Moons.

How can something with so much volume and such a high market cap be 'dead'? It's a bit silly really. Especially considering it's happened like 3 times before already in Bitcoin history.

Bitcoin is not dead and bitcoin cannot be replaced, as the reporter and articles says that the half of this year, bitcoin will ressurrect, the new says that Bitcoin fell below $6,000 on Friday, but bitcoin bull Brian Kelly told CNBC that the popular cryptocurrency is "not dead."

"This is not the funeral for bitcoin whatsoever," Brian Kelly, founder and CEO of BKCM LLC, an investment firm focused on digital currencies, said on "Fast Money" Friday.

"Let's put this in perspective," he said. "Do you know where we were a year ago? $2,500."

No, One of the reasons for getting Bitcoin down is because of a lot of hacking, bad news. Bitcoin is above all coins. Without Bitcoin Crypto can not be imagined. In December 2017, Bitcoin has almost 20k. Now it's 6500 I hope it will grow very quickly, just need a little time.

Bitcoin is the king crypto and it has grown so much over the years. For the time being the prices are at a fall and for this you cannot consider it to be dead. Neither it is not dead nor it will be. besides if you follow today's price chart you will figure out that it has already started to grow.

Definitely not. Bitcoin is the main cryptocurrency whre many countries already accepting it as a payment.
Bitcoin price is getting down its because of the market movement.
Hacking reports and other people scam scheme can affect the price downfall yes including how the governments of different countries who want to regulate the cryptocurrency.

We can never witness the death of Bitcoin just like that OP. The mere Dip scenario being witnessed for some time now is just what I can term to be stabilizing period which is normal for Bitcoin to adjust and correct lots of FUDs around or surrounding it as hindrances. Going through past records, we should be able to recap that its volatility bringing such Dip can never be permanent. Bitcoin shall very soon surge up for the bullish period. So, total No is the answer my Guy.

Having full understanding of how the market works and how volatile the market is in my own opinion it is too early to make such horrible statement like bitcoin is dead, we should should at list appreciate the SCOP bitcoin has covered so far over the years and the challenges bitcoin is able to face and survive in the time past. Yes I agree on that, but I think it is hard tp predict regarding to the price that is really high on volatility. Bitcoin is not dead, it has a value and it has many supporter around the globe, thatvis why if it will down today in the next day it will rise again, it is Sam as usual and from the start it is most likely unstable so we cannot make a prediction something like that bitcoin is dead because it is not going to dead due to the storng support and volume of investors around the globe.

Yes i strongly agree on that. Dead means no use or considered as no value at all. But we can all see that the value of the bitcoin is always there. Eventhough it is now dropping but still it has a value. I think all we need to do is just to wait for the said bull run before saying that bitcoin will be dead maybe we should look at first the price that is now slowly rising.

Exactly, the FUD's are causing a lot of panic selling and the fear of the unknown is driving many to cash out when they should have kept investing and this inconsistency is widening the volatile gap of bitcoin and it just keeps tossing to and fro without a decent regulation.

The quotes stated above are true, which do not in any way imply that bitcoin is dead. The price of bitcoin, had a massive increase in 2017, which i believe is getting corrected, because each time the price tries to get to 10k, it does find its way back down. Reduction in price, does not actually mean death.

Bitcoin is not dead . There was a sudden increase in the coin market .. Every other coin of the market had the highest price then .. But because of a lot of mining and hacking stuff the market got out of the hand .. That's why the market is not good now..
.
I think there is nothing to think negative about this .. We were with bitcoin in its good time , i think we should not leave this at its bad time .

Well as of now bitcoin is in low price in the market  compared to the past year but we can't say it is dead because it still operate in the market. I believe it can recover a year from now because it is an upgrading technology who need's people now.

December 2014 Bitcoin price is only $ 500, December 2015 BTC price $ 1000, December 2016 BTC price $ 1500, December 2017 BTC price $ 15000.
Now the price is BTC $ 6000.
And you say that BTC is dead. in my opinion Bitcoin only experienced a slight setback.

Bitcoin has always been a matter for discussions. A number of well-known experts predict great future for Bitcoin. Phillip Nunn believes that by the end of this year Bitcoin will be traded for $60,000. Maybe it sounds too optimistic, but who knows.. I've been seeing this kind of threads for the past few months saying that Bitcoin is "dead". This newbies tend to open threads and ask questions that they themselves can answer by doing a little bit of research. Of course Bitcoin is not dead. Bitcoin has just past a new milestone which will lead us into another light. If only this newbies think first before opening their mouths.

Maybe the value of bitcoin nowadays is in dip position but it is not necessarily that bitcoin is dead. There are many consideration to tell that the bitcoin is dead. First, communtiy support, as long as investor and community continue believing and support it, bitcoin is still usable and valueble. Second, the volume of bitcoin in the market cap. Nowadays the volume of bitcoin in the market cap is still huge and the value is slighly recover. And, so on......

Bitcoin is not dead. The dropping of bitcoin price now is just because of its volatility, the rapidly changing of its value and its unpredictable to know if its going to increase or decrease. Bitcoin will not die now, because it don't have competitor, but in the future i believe that someone can create better crypto currency than bitcoin, and that can caused bitcoin to die.

If you compare the Bitcoin prices at the beginning with the current market price, you will clearly understand the fact that it is not dead. In 2010, when it was started, the price was around USD 0.08-0.1 but today it is around USD 6600. It's true that the current value is comparatively less than what it was a few months back but still it worth a lot.

It wasn't dead when it was USD 1 or less, so it is definitely not dead at USD 6500+. Is the price low compared to the almost 20K it reached? Of course, and many people who invested during the bull run are currently at a loss. But it is still a great price for many who invested before October 2017. The only thing I would like is for the rest of the coins to not be so BTC dependent for their prices as all the red is killing me, but I guess we can only wait.

No one can say Bitcoin is already Dead.. Unless you see its price fall down to a dollar or penny and nobody trades with it.. A lot of FUD and negative news coming but still the market still healthy.. I can really says its a Volatile but expect majority of the world recognized and adopts the power of bitcoin now a days.. Im still Positive for BItcoin future.

No way. I think it will not be die because the btc will release to the end of the coin until the year 2140 it is its route and it is currently gaining quite the mightiest price in history with its value already.
Nearly to about $ 6000 you will invest is not late but I advise you to slowly make the decision because currently the bitcoin price is very high and it will soon approach the fork so the market price is unstable A little if you invest in it now is not. You should be patience waiting for the fork to end at Aug then decide whether to invest or not.

It is not because there is still users who use it and there is still users who earned money. Maybe because they say biycoin is dead because the value of it is low in this season but I still hope and believe that soon the of bitcoin will be back and get higher than before.
Sure, it could be the reason according to some people but to be honest there is no realty in it, bitcoin is gona having bigger value even in lowest price season. Am sure soon price of bitcoin will be high and we should have faith, those who are saying negative about bitcoin are the manipulators and no need to listen them, just hold your coin bitcoin is just at miner dip take it as advantage as soon it will be high don’t listen to them.

Do you see that it can not be bought?
you see that the collapse of the crypto-currency market happened (if bitcoin dies, then the market together with it)
So the essence of the question is not quite clear

Why you say bitcoin is dead even you have noticed that the current situation is green. yes bitcoin was halfway dead one week ago but now it id recovering and healed so much. bitcoin will live for a long time.
Bitcoin value now is on dip but this is not reason to say that bitcoin is dead.  In every investment have risk the value is unstable sometimes up and down but this is normal and bitcoin always recover in this kind of situation, you must believe and trust to bitcoin. Bitcoin always alive no matter what happen to his price it will recover and give us good profit in our investment.

Bitcoin is not dead anytime soon, indeed if you compare this year's bitcoin price to a very distant year ago, and today the bitcoin prices are falling low. Current price falls but that does not mean bitcoin will die, bitcoin can still survive and will come back with a high price. Be patient then you will get better bitcoin benefits.

Even if the price of bitcoin falls today to $4k , it won't come as a surprise to me.
This is because its in the nature of bitcoin to swing from one lower price to another higher price in a matter of hours.
Does that make it a dead coin?
No.

Many pundits are still expecting Bitcoin to rise from here on. At 5/6k per BTC , institutions have already made their entry. Of course, they still hope to collect it for cheaps.

Also, many analysts have failed to take into account missing bitcoins which are not accessible and locked up forever. Of the 21 million, only 3/4 are perhaps accessible.

Trading volume are at all times highs versus previous years too.

So no, Bitcoin will not die. It will be around for a long time as a means of wealth transfer. Get aboard or regret ;)

bitcoin cannot die and will not die. like every other currency market, crypto currency market is a volatile one which is subject to fluctuation, this is a normal factor in all business. To say bitcoin is dead is a false statement that would be proven false over time, patience is key.
First of all, many people think that bitcoin will be lose soon because of the continues loss of bitcoin, but I think the bitcoin didn't have the chance to lose. The bitcoin will change the future later on. The price of bitcoin is quite low for now but we dont know to the next months how it will increase. I would not say that it is dead. What's happening now, although it's very alarming and disturbing, is part of how this system and the market works. The cryptocurrency market, although honestly is not doing that good, it still has a long way to go to unfold and recover together with all of its assets. Therefore, even if its not doing okay now, it's still too early to pronounce it as a dead market and currency because it has a lot of things to show for in its tank that would help it prosper in the long run.

why You have to ask this: "Is Bitcoin Dead?". see that the price rose from $ 900 to $ 20,000, if the price had such a high increase that everyone celebrated a lot, then would not it be more natural the price fall a lot? why the hell do not many people think that it is possible and natural the price fall a lot? this is a very volatile market and this is expected to happen. Bitcoin is not dead because there are many people who use it and the fact that the price falls a lot is something normal.

is it true that the price of bitcoin is dead? if it is true that bitcoin is dead, it means that bitcoin will no longer be able to rise and that means bitcoin is over, but I feel that this bitcoin is not dead but it is now dimming because the price is decreasing but that does not mean it will die, because someday it will gradually rise again .

if you think the price of bitcoin is dead then it shouldn't be around 6k+ right now, you would be able to call it dead if its price is zero and no volume like no trading happening which is far from happening if you look at the current state of bitcoin.

Bitcoins will never die because the market price will be always increasing due to the market's volatility so it was better to invest as early as today while the market is dropping.

Bitcoins will never as long as there are people who are still interested to invest and it will increase its raw value for the next years to come since the statistical sequence is fibonacci.

why You have to ask this: "Is Bitcoin Dead?". see that the price rose from $ 900 to $ 20,000, if the price had such a high increase that everyone celebrated a lot, then would not it be more natural the price fall a lot? why the hell do not many people think that it is possible and natural the price fall a lot? this is a very volatile market and this is expected to happen. Bitcoin is not dead because there are many people who use it and the fact that the price falls a lot is something normal.

there is still plenty of money to enter the crypto world

Actually this is the problem with most of the people here in crypto, after gaining from the bubble season of 2017 now blaming the good coin about their losses though they know that what brings them to failure is the attitude of being greedy, they don’t become contented when the price reached out $20,000 instead they want more growth continuously and now that the value drops drastically they cry for death as if bitcoin never been their bread and butter for long
