Anyday now, I will finally have my first born son.  Exciting!  Any recent dads out there, and if so, any tips?  I am excited, but worried about the future.  Trying to get a promotion at work, to make sure he never goes without. 

NOT A DONATION THREAD, just asking for tips in life, not btc or anything else.

Once he is a bit older (toddler aged), make a commitment to be focused on him while he is awake.  Put away the phone, computer, TV, etc, and spend time with him.  You won't regret not having spent more time on the internet, but you WILL regret not having spent more time with your son.  If you need down time (I know I do), that's fine, just do it after the kids are put to bed.

I know this is something my wife and I have both struggled with, as it's so easy to be selfish with how you spend your time, and you find yourself with so little of it once you have kids.

That is really good advice.  I should probably follow that advice with the wife too, might make her a little happier with me.

my advice would be to make sure u dont make the same mistakes your parents did. and educate the kid on everything he should know dont let him go into the world without knowing what to do when he turns 18 and is off to college make sure he or she knows

Always keep in mind that this little human you created will one day be an adult and will have to live with the decisions they will make, teach him how to be a good person so he will never regrets his choices in life.

Your son (primarily) doesn't want your money. He wants your love and understanding. Forget the "never goes without" stuff. Kids get spoiled by parents that buy them everything and have to spend every hour at work to pay for it.

Spend time with him growing up, it is the most fulfilling thing you can possibly imagine :)

Finally, never forget dads are boys first hero. So be a good one for him.

cheers. My son was born 14 1/2 years ago, and I remember his birth like it was yesterday. Just bond with the young dude, and never let that bond break. There's a line by Ethan Hawke in one of the "Before Sunrise / Sunset" movies, where he talks about why he stayed with his wife even though the marriage was dead. It was something like "I'd go through any amount of pain to see my son grow up another day" .... something like that anyway.

That's how cool it is to see a son grow up :)

In a year or so he will grow into a whiny brat with no attention span who forces his wild, rampant energy upon everyone that surrounds him.

What would be so bad? You can always change his name. You could take the coins and use them as a trustfund for the kid. I doubt gweedo is serious though.

My friend just had a baby on the 10th and they only just decided his name today so they wont've officially named him yet, and he's the type of guy that will do stupid shit for coin. Would you be willing to put that money is escrow?  ;D

HaHa, I talked to wife about it, and she said she would agree, but it would be a higher number.  Pretty sure he can overcome a name, if he is set up for college from birth.  I highly doubt the right number to name him Dogecoin would be reached though lol

Then why not do it, claim the prize, and change the name later on, or he can change it himself as an adult. I know a lot of people who are just known by their nicknames among friends, I've met some of them several times and don't even know their real names. I wish my parents were offered 500BTC to name me Dogecoin :D

Because that would be akin to stealing.  If he chose to change name as an adult, thats his choice, but if I entered an agreement, why would I renig on it?

The reason probably is you decided you don't want to run the risk of losing 5BTC, but nice try   ;). If five BTCs aren't expensive and the media coverage is worth it to you, why does it matter who does it? I'm sure if this guy would've been serious about it you'd've weaselled out of that too, but I guess we'll never know, unless the OP decides to take you up on the offer. How about it, op? You can always change the babies name after a month I'm sure.

Congrats man just feed him with your best love, trust and care. Always make sure you spend time with him and talk about things. Educate him to the best of you can. :)

As soon as we got back from the hospital (I was literally just born a few days before), he took me straight to his computer. I obviously can't remember this, but my siblings said they remembered when he told me what a computer did, what a mouse was, and stuff like that.

Geezus I'm still such a nerd.

But it paid off.

Well, congratulations!

As a proud father myself, it's my pleasure to congratulate you on your baby. You'll hear plenty of congratulations, and they're all well and good, but what few people will emphasize is how brutally sleep-deprived and stressed you will be for months on end. Man up and just ride it out. It's all part of the deal. Yeah, it sucks, but before you know it, that little newborn will be a toddler and then a teenager, so enjoy the moments for what they are, even if it means changing diapers and cleaning vomit at 4 in the morning, you'll never get back those precious moments. And indeed they are precious, despite how they may appear otherwise.  :)

well that is the sweetiest part of being a parent cause when the baby is already a teenager you will always remember that this teenager is  grown up so fast and it seems like yesterday you are changing his diaper or singing some song to make him sleep and playing with him while holding him in your arms :)
