when you do trading, do you always think about this, "buy some, sell some, hold some."

I don't understand your strategy that buy some,sell some and hold some.Are you talking ablut bounty rewards?

no, im talking about trading, for example i buy 100%, sell 70% and hold the 30%, for me its increasing profit.

Kind of new formula to me. I always think about holding everything for really long time and I wont sell unless and until my goal of profits has been reached successfully. Problem is, when you go for such strategies you may end up selling everything or you may just not hold them for longer enough if you kept thinking that you have to sell something. Well things may match in the long run and thats why I only keep single option open. Either you HOLD it or you just go for the swing trading, thats all.

Well that depends upon what you working on. With my last years portfolio I do understand that holding option is best one.

I can relate this to the time required for various developmental stages of those projects and with each successful stage new lot of investors jumping into the project. The net effect is surely hiked market for such coins and thus risen prices.

Practically, HODL is long proven theory in this market. You do have to react with it periodically, sometime by buying more , selling some and well holding as much as you could.

I know this already and I think you can apply this if you are planning to buy a coin that you can hold for some time or if you got a token from bounty campaigns. I apply this in the bounty tokens that I got. I sell 70% of them and the remaining 30% will be for mid to long term.

For me, there is a bit risk in this strategy. You are holding 30% so that if in case it will rise further more, you can sell it at that price but if it crashes then you need to hold it for a long time instead of selling it 100%.

it can work and it is a valid strategy but the final profit depends on what you are trading. for example if you are trading some useless shitcoin and bag holding 30% of it then your final result will be a big loss as that shitcoin gets dumped eventually because it is inevitable in pump and dump altcoins.

but if you are doing it with something good like bitcoin then it can be a good strategy.
for example you buy $1000 worth of BTC then after it went up you sell but you don't sell all of it. instead if your total value is $1050 you sell $1025 of it and keep $25 profit in BTC and $25 profit in fiat.

Yes it is also a good strategy but still it is same as the traditional trading we just sell the percentage of our holding to make money with that.Altcoin trading is very unpredictable you may lose the profits if the holding time is too long only the holding will work if the coin is pretty potential usage.

I thought about that but it isn't always the strategy that i prefer. I keep some coins that are off limits and are for long term, whether i'min profit or not, like my bitcoins. Hold and sell when in profit at a certain percentage is what i do with the other alts though i mostly am a btc holder

Ok ,I following this rule completely,I divided whole amount of my fund into 4 quadrant and sell half and keep half for future.

I hold some coins without even trying to short them or make trading, and though I hold some of them I can easily sell or trade them because I'm not sure they are good coins for the long term.

No, i do not think that way! what i do is research and invest in good altcoins for long term(trading is not my thing), of course the amount i invest is not very high, i prefer to keep bitcoin portfolio as high as possible.

I thjnk doing it at the same time won't provide us the perfect profit that we all want. I believe that it is still important that we're all hodling if we have to. What I always do is just to buy at low and then sell at high afterwards, through it, I could get the complete profit that I want.

As a new comer of this section, I just thought market analysis is the main point. We observe new traders are coming, but they involved trading without any types of experience. They should first learn about market analysis. Next  coin feature and future and past history. It is not easy I recognized that. 

This strategy is depends on which coin, the time of trading,market movement etc. suppose you buy some token at 30 cent then the token unfortunately dropped at 15 cent in short time. So you can hold them and wait for again touch 30 cent. At this moment if the coin touch again 30 cent. then you should sell the coin and wait for again deep. at this moment dont wise to hold the token . because you know the coin pump from 15 cent to 30 cent and can go drop again.

This is exactly what we called trading. In trading there should always be buying, selling and holding to keep the market running and strong. I wonder why people always want to hold this time without considering its effect on the trading or market process. This is something i always think about and advice my friends too about it.

If the trader is holding means what is the problem you see in that. Tell me that first mate. If the person have view about seeing profit in trading and hodling means you need to appreciate it you can else you can be at least silent.
Best as subject line says you can buy when coins are low and sell if you see spike on that coins and hold the coin also partially to make long term profit.

Then you are going in a right way. This is the best way for me. Many people always advised me that hold your coins for a big profit, don't sell. I heard and then I lost my assets  :-X But now I am following this way. I am Holding a few coins and selling coins to make hand cash. I will never hold my 100% Coins anymore and everyone shouldn't do that.

I have heard of such strategy to sell some after the coin rise. For me, I buy and hold 100% of the coin until my target price. In this way, my target profit will not be diluted.

not so clear with your statement., i think it will only cut your income after selling and holding some at the time the price starts to fall,,. the principle of trading just buy cheaply and sell at high price then do not leave to bear,, then it can be called term investment long,, then the profit will be very much,, most effective in transacting by buying at a low price and selling at high prices then the profits will continue to exist for you, keep doing it until you get bored.,..

When I traded, my strategy was to buy about 10% of my assets. If the price goes down, then I keep buying 10% more. I will always buy 10% if the price continues to fall and when the price rebound, I also make a little profit

I think one should have some mature decision about crypto currency because it happens that sometime we sell at holding and hold at selling, so better it depends on the time and the market situation, I think now is the best time to hold and buy and surely after few years or couple of months it will be good time to sell, so for now you should buy 100%, hold 100% and sell 0% it will surely make you get good profit.

I mostly tend to trade the coins/tokens which i'm already holding and i never sell off all of my holdings, i sell a part of my bag say 50% and then trade with it, in order to increase the amount of coins i'm holding. However, in the current market situation i think holding is the only thing that can be done.

I think if you buy a coin, you should choose holdings for a reasonable price to sell, we can wait for a reasonable price if you hold them for a long time. So do not sell and buy so you will lose the opportunity.

I sometimes do this thing but usually I do hodl some or even sell all. Depends on the mood and of course, it depends on how the market's attitude throughout the days, weeks or even months.

I've done it actually. Someone say too me to avoid the greed I have to do that. Buy when the price is cheap then sell when the price is high, but when I invest long term or short term then crashes come with a sudden I will sell some of my investment, then half I hold. On the contrary, when asset prices go up drastically I will not sell all my investments, I will sell them partly and some of them I hold and expect higher prices.

The strategy he suggested actually is in harmony with buying low and selling, only you do not sell all, but set a portion aside to still benefit from future rise in price and I think there's method in it, although it's likely not going to be some good strategy outside of the well capitalized cryptocurrencies, suffice to say, the strategy is worth the try only with some cryptocurrencies.

It's better to use the principle of trading for the profit.We all inverse our money in bitcoin to get some profit.If you sell and buy bitcoin parallel,you won't have anything in your hand at last.If you had brought certain percentage of bitcoin,you must hold half of the brought bitcoin for your future.If you had hold everything, you will get more profit.

Sometimes I do this kind of strategy especially if I need the money and so I sell some but hold most of my coins though, and I buy some when the market is red and if I have an extra money with me for investment. I think this is what the OP is trying to tell us too.

This is really a cool stretagy that usually I use during the profit , most of the times when we see that we are making profit then still there are chances that the coin that we bought can result into more profit if we can hold then there comes a tension whether we should sell or hold because there is also chances that the market of the coin get dump .
So in that case it remains Always a better option for us that we , sell some amount of coin so that we can get captial with the profit and rest of them hold for profit , if at the holding even the market get dumped them still there will no more remain chance to regret to loss much , and equally full chances will remain that we will make profit .

in this market crypto is very dangerous any investment. For many people who bought cryptos in December, they must be with many losses and probably can not recover their losses. some examples of some altcoins that I do not think will go up much, lisk has reached
0.003btc and today dropped to 0.00082btc, I do not think lisk will return to 0.003btc; Verge has reached 1700 satoshi and today it is 390 satoshi and I do not think that Verge will return to 1700 satoshi again; Stratis has reached 0.004btc and today is 0.0003btc and this a big loss that these altcoins caused. is not always the strategy of Hold may be a good idea, we have to choose good projects, at least projects that have some use in real life, I sold my Verge, Lisk and Stratis because I realized that I would have losses if i hold, I sold with good profits

every trader i is sure they do it, they have their own speculation of course, when they have to buy sell or hold when the coins they buy have decreased, but every trader of course they have their own strategy in doing their trade and to get the profit they want, so a trader must have good analysis and speculation in trading.

I also use this strategy on a part of my deposit. I'm trying to buy only fundamentaly good project and always keep a part of position after trading for the future. Of course some times you must hodl after buying at high, but if it is a good coin it could be ok.

Yes being a technical analyst I am very well versed with this money making strategies and this what we call partial profit booking method where you book some part of profits during a running trade and hold the other part of that trade for getting additional profits by reducing the risk. Apart from this I also follow a strategy of adding more quantity of coins on reaching a certain price level and continue this till my stop loss is hit so that i get more profits with less risk.

You did well because we should buy some coin and should sell some at high price, whenever you need money it is not good to sell bitcoin because sometime market remain high and sometime it is not high so selling then will be worst so buy some coin right now but at the same time save some money for you to fulfill your needs so that you will not have to panic your bitcoin, have fun, keep buying at cheap price and selling at higher price but never forget to hold some.

Yes, this is what we are doing during trading, but the % really depends on the coin. If it is a shitcoin then selling 100 %
or leaving 10 % just if miracle happens, or if it is a coin I believe will prosper, selling only 20% during  rise.

I think your strategy is for short term investment. Best and simplest formula is buy low and sell high. If you want a better profit do it as long term investment but it takes time.

If that coin stable or spiked up many times means I may try to access that wallet mate.

I am not. When trading I try to find nice opportunities where I can earn money. As I am an investor I try to find low prices and undervalued assets to buy them. Of course I do not buy any low priced assets because before making a decision about buying I evaluate the potential of an asset and if it is good I make a decision to buy it.

I agree, buy some, sell some and trade some is also what I do. Its a nice way to get rewards short terms and for the long term you're assured by the remaining coins pot.

This is really a good idea.I've been practicing it for a quite sometime. Currently I am holding three kinds of coins; bitcoin,ethereum and bitcoin cash.Last time when BTC price drops, I bought a fraction of bitcoin.On the other hand, when ETH almost hit the $800 mark I sold some of those and now I'm holding quite some time already hoping market price turns green again.

Yeah this is a little confusing. I think the OP is was trying to tell us something about portfolio management but couldn't explain due to lack of vocabulary or whatever the reason may be. But as far as I know this is a common practice when you have a diversified portfolio. People update portfolio from time to time to earn exclusive profit.

You're wrong. With bounty rewards, you got to be the first one to guts the worm. Be the first person to sell the bounty rewards before the investors does. Cryptocurrency is one of the way for people like us, people who are joining bounties to be opportunistic in every way.

Do you wish to say that you always make profit with your trades? Strategy "buy some, sell some, hold some" is very easy to understand, you trade safe, you never risk everything you have. Start with buy some, buy whole bitcoin for example, don`t sell all when price rise 1000 dollars, sell some like half bitcoin, you made some profit, but hold some if price rise more. This is example for bitcoins but you can apply it for all other coins, and with this strategy you are safer, you don`t sell all and maybe miss top, you never buy with all money because price can go more dip, buy again, always hold some, I hope I made it clear for you.

Yes most of the time but sometimes my trading strategy would not followed depending on the current market  condition maybe this is just normal as i am new in trading market and I continuously learned for my day to day trading decision.

I believe one should not actually sell when the market is red and should rather hold because when the price of an asset falls and in the same time the demand for that asset decreases as the people sell it, the asset is actually outdated and outshined by its counterparts so the experts do not normally suggest selling however due to low prices, buying is a good strategy because in future when the market will be green, the marginal benefit will rise high.

I believe in the habit of regularly writing in a journal about trading activity. With a journal it is easier to revert back to any thoughts and emotions when the coins were initially purchased, and also gives a benchmark for what the original intent was for those coins. In the journal also set goals with percentages or dollar amount goals.

I believe in holding all of them unless and until I have not satisfied with my trade by gaining some good profits. It is always possible to get huge profits whenever the trade amount is held in place and right opportunity is acquired over the time. Because, even bitcoin is facing heavy sell off, it will bounce back at any time. If we want to make use of bitcoin pump and dump then we must buy and hold for ever when we find somewhat cheaper bitcoin prices.

I agree with your strategy (if I understood it correctly)... buy 100% at a good price, define selling points and progressivly sell parts on those selling points recovering the investment  and gaining some profit. One part should be to hold on longer term.
This way you don't risk having to keep bags of the same coin waiting for the good price that might never come... this might be a good strategy to balance the risk with the reward...

Your strategy can works when market is on grow. Now traders probable make profit when trading margins i think , and maybe whales trades only bitcoin now. But now for who bought on high is better to still hold and maybe they will get a bigger price over time.

You should better not sell the tokens as they are too cheap. You can exchange them for the altcoins that you trust more. naturally, it is better to hold the most reliable alts and do not get rid of them.
