Wow, So Amaze Burn!! The only reason for people to be upset about Doge is if they are currently invested in any other altcoin. Like VTC there are 60,000 active followers and growing of dogecoin. It doesn't matter if you have the Best coin in the world if you can't sell it it's not going to compete with Altcoins. Yeah the Meme might die but guess what that meme is turning into... A social Network of users.

I am expecting craziness in the next two hours as this thing hits the halving wall. My guess is a big initial drop because there aren't 1000 whales waiting for the clock to strike before they hit the buy button, everyone bought this past 7 days and everyone is watching and waiting.

My guess is lots of fireworks and tomorrow meh....

LOL, You can stick to your ideals and QRK coin, While the rest of us make money of a coin with a dog face. What people don't realize is the value and Strength of a community. If the coin is being used, traded, sent, tipped, and funding causes, it doesn't matter what the face of the coin is. The devs got it right with inflation, even though it may not be the best coin, it sure is solid. BTC, DOGE, LTC, They have all been adapted by a larger commuinty. If you're investing in another coin your at a much greater risk of finacial devistation. You have a much weaker base and support system. You can't look at Doge as a Meme Coin, You have to look at the young community as a social network.

Just a quick question just in case I am missing something here:

How does a block-halfing correlate with a sharp increase in price, especially in the short-term? Do you think people will be willing to suddenly buy for double the price thinking "Only half of the block rewards from now on? Blimey! I should get ahead and buy for double the price accordingly!"

Yeah I feel should already be priced in. Markets are made of people and people anticipate upcoming changes and act accordingly, sometimes irrationally even but still. I think from a mining perspective, maybe this will dampen the enthusiasm in the multipools but yet to be seen

Simple.
try holding a basketball under water for a while then suddenly take your hand off the ball.
as is the case for a coin that is no longer the most profitable coin to mine,
all the "auto switching auto sell" pools will change to another coin,
you therefore have a massive lack of supply as compared with previously.

I'm guessing it will stay almost the same, maybe even dip a little due to cowardly Shibes selling, then start to go up steadily. This is the cheapest you'll see it from here on out.

Title: Re: Doge - Only 134 more blocks for Dogecoin rewards to halve
Post by: FalconCrypto on February 14, 2014, 01:09:17 AM

In anticipation of the initial dip, I may sell all my DOGE and then buy back in after trying to guess the bottom. But if it rises  5% higher then my selling price, I will get right back in. Good strategy? I don't know, we'll see.

You will not see major price increases for 1 major fact, there is such a large amount of DOGE available to everyone that there is no demand for more DOGE.
The only price increases is by manipulation of the markets, no miners have that much control over the markets. Also a 2nd note, Doge was launched on certain exchanges in china, which in turn helped the price rise dramatically.

Blocks halving almost have little to do with the current standing.

Doge simply has too much inflation at the moment to make it worth anything. You would need a 2nd round of major adoptions to occur for the price to double once more.

Just my thought on it, and don't mention community or anything. We already saw what happened with the major first round stable price increase due to the community.

So added recent buyers in China, and rewards halving? That means demand is going up while supply is going down. Yup, price will be going up. But there will first be a dip and then steady rise, if recent history is any indicator.

Buyers and china already got their fill on demand, demand last a very short period of time on crypto markets: Ex maxcoin, demand died out in less then 24 hours. Unless a 2nd coming of Doge mania is coming, i don't expect a 2-fold increase. That was the original statement, i never said Doge is going to die, or fail on my previous post above.

Doge's demand hit the a big climax when it hit the Chinese exchange. History is a good start and indicator, but in my opinion every alt-coin is under bitcoins wing, and bitcoin is tanking at the moment.

I don't know how low bitcoin will go, but if it gets under 500usd, you can expect there will be a massive buy-ins.

I think bitcoin will reach a new high-level, after all the drama that surrounds it subsides.

The funny thing is, this is not the first time Doge is going up while bitcoin is going down. Happened in December, when bitcoin was tanking around 500-600. While most other coins were mimicking Bitcoins fall.

The way it looks to me now is even people panic selling alts for bitcoin cannot get any money for the bitcoins.

If you take investment advice from children shouting "TO THE MOON" you might want to reconsider.
really?  pretty much every post with 'to the moon' is usually accompanied with astute market observations and a well thought-out investment strategy.  i wondering what is so different with this thread.

That is said in jest, if you can't figure that out by now, I can't help you bud. Move along.
correct.  what i said was in jest.  I am now mocking you.  move along.

My thread, you move along, lol.
You may have been joking, but Hazard's response was serious.  i happen to agree with him.

Yeah, and I think he's full of it. He who calls himself an "internet celebrity"
ok i don't know are you saying this in jest right now or not? sometimes it's hard to tell.

And regardless of what you say he calls himself i still finding myself agreeing with him.

That's fine, it's your choice. I don't know him/her. I do know that if I click on their name right now and look at their last posts, 8 out of 10 are trollish behavior. But enough about this back to trading. Good luck.

hash rate remain high and small GPU miners will operate at a loss.  Only ASIC farms remains so you can see in fact the whole DOGECOIN network hashrate largely own by ASICS and possibly the Chinese scrypt mining companies.

If mining for profits is by small miners and judge by returns there will be drastic drop in hashrate to other ASIC resistant crypto network.
