Don't mine it then or get any of the giveaway just because we have some meaning behind what we want to do doesn't mean it won't be a valid cryptocurrency. There will still be miners and exchanges for people to profit on if that is their only goal. If more coins had real world applications instead of just being another coin with no purpose then may be we could establish more awareness about the culture as a whole.

I won't mine it BECAUSE of the meaning behind it. Socialism doesn't work and is a foolish idiotic idealism. All socialism does is fool the masses into complacently thinking everything is "fair" in life and you don't have to go out and work for/take what you want, while in reality a select few are doing nothing but taking advantage of the masses under the guise of that lie.

We are not naive and do not think our coin can replace fiat currency however with our initiatives we have aspirations of making this currency a form of reward/barter system in exchange for goods and services to be used by the general populous that follow and believe in the Zeitgeist Movement.

It is more creating a purpose for a new cryptocurrency as well as have an established following. If you disagree with the application then great thats fine there is still the potential for you to mine and make profit off the coin on an exchange so if you just want a place to spout your own personal beliefs I am cool with that too. We are hear to make sure this coin has a great smooth launch, gets to exchanges fast, gains huuge awareness not just in the crypto world but in mainstream media which essentially would increase the value of the coins you mine. So there a socialist meaning with capitalist potential for people like yourself.

So I was going to remain poised in my views however because of the constant views of the users in this forum I would like to voice my two cents. To all of those who do not believe in a pseudo anonymous currency having the ability to be used as a reward system for goods and services I urge you to ponder this.

Your current Fiat system to which you have been born and raised to adhere to is based among the top percent becoming richer while the rest of the world remains at the brink of poverty. Even the middle class is constantly trying to obtain the newest trend while struggling to make sure their bills are paid. Look at the 2008 travesty. The only people who suffered loss were the middle to lower class while the top percentile profited.

We are trying to create a basis where we can avoid the use of a traditional fiat currency which is controlled by the top percentile to establish a beneficial structure for the masses who weren't born into it.

What is the crytpo currency world if not a movement into more socialist endeavors? We are creating the next generation of trade and bartering. If you are here for a profit then great however if you subscribe to the fact that working hard in this generation will eventually lead you to be one of the influential people in society you are solely mistaken.


We need to influence the world on making changes to the way we are used by the people who have the means to manipulate us. We need to rise up and take a stand to show them that there are other ways for us to live and thrive in this world. Well why do you think we implemented diff change each block it will avoid having multipools come in as the diff will change in an instant for them and it wont be profitable for them to stay and for smaller miners who believe in the success of the coin and want to continue to mine it wont be stuck with long wait periods to mine again because of high diff.

Hope thats an acceptable answer we are always aware of how this culture functions on greed and will be proactive and reactive to ensure that doesn't happen with our coin.

You misread what he was trying to get across of course you do because you can't see past what your government tells you. What they were trying to tell you is that your Fiat currency system is controlled not by the people but by the top 1% they manipulate your currencies value by immediately placing a deficit on it to the country they make it for. The federal reserve in the US is a perfect example of this it is a privately owned institution and every dollar they produce for the US comes with a deficit attached to it which is now owed to that private institution. Which in sense means that you are not free you are controlled by this top percentile who controls the money in your traditional capitalist society.

Fucking idiot socialists need to wake up to the reality of the fact that Bitcoin is nothing more than an emerging capitalist economy where you have the chance to become that 1% that you whine about so much.

I have been a TZM member and coordinator for a long time now. I have been engaging this community with the idea of an RBE for a couple of years. https://bitcointalk.org/index.php?topic=5373.0

I don't know exactly what to think of this endeavor. It seems counter to the core principles upon which TZM is founded. While I certainly am excited about Bitcoin and the technological developments it represents, I have always considered it a transitional technology to be exploited by the movement, but not in such a direct way. Creating yet another altcoin is probably not the best expenditure of efforts we can be pursuing. Many of our members are already donating compute time to worthwhile distributed computing projects trying to solve actual problems, and there may be friction or conflict in trying to encourage them to divert that towards mining for monetary gain.

I understand what you're trying to do and I appreciate the enthusiasm, but I do not think it is in the best interest of the movement on the whole. Even with that said, I, nor anyone else has authority over you to tell you what you can and cannot do. I will be following your project with interest and will be looking forward to seeing what comes of it. I hope my concerns are unfounded, but only time will tell.

Hey we appreciate your feedback and understand your concerns. We are big advocates for the core principals of TZM and are not asking anyone to divert away from anything they are doing. What we are trying to do with this alt coin is hopefully bring more awareness to TZM members as a whole as to the power of complementary currency and to bring more awareness about TZM to this sub culture. But we also feel we need to take small steps forward with progressive ideas like new currency and hopefully start to make positive changes in society with them. Every step forward in making something that competes with the traditional fiat currency system worldwide is necessary.

I see your concerns LightRider. What I know is that the dev is a very mature person who has organized this more than well until now. Just imagine that we are 11days before the launch and most of the stuff is already ready.

I really like this and thats why I wanna trust this coin. And even if its hard to correlate the zeitgeist movement with altcoins, we people can support it and all of us work into making this thing succeed.

It does make the movement vulnerable to criticism, hypocrisy being the most critical charge that would be leveled at us I think. I think that trying to artificially crate more interest in the movement by giving away "free money" as it were may not be the best way to do so. It may distract from the train of thought we're advocating.

But it is my disposition to be concerned about such things, and they may be unfounded. Time will tell.

Listen Lightrider you have voiced your opinion and keep saying time will tell. Why don't you let it and then give your opinion.

We are not affiliated directly with the movement and are clear on this but the Toronto chapter is very interested in discussing how we can work together so that must mean there is validity in what we are doing also talks about having a booth at Zday.

 Why not wait see what happens then voice voice them when u have evidence to support them instead of just thinking the worst.

My last point is what do you consider currency? Is it not a resource? I would say everything can be classified as a resource. Our alt currency however is made by people for people not controlled by a governing body and is available to the public to generate themselves.  That then can be exchanged with people for other resources. In my opinion that is what TZM is about.

The masses brainwashed that currency is our problem are blind to what the real problem is Which is having it controlled not by the people but by a select few!

We are on point for a smooth launch and have watched many. We feel the release of the wallet file password protected 30 minutes before launch is key.

We will also only release source to pools at password release which will allow solo miners a few minutes of solo mining.

Any suggestions are welcome as well.

Hahaha thats the hope however we have picked decent pools and one is p2p and a few we have used before.

The pools we chose are pretty solid.

I like the fact that the launch is a decent and fair one and this will be a good incentive to miners to adopt this coin fast. I will be doing some social work after I take a small nap. I have been trying to improve my health a bit. I know there are people who disagree with another coin but this one has substance and as currency is an expression of the demands and supplies it means that there is a nice for Zeitcoin to fill for sure. It is not by any means just another alt coin. :)

When you say that you've talked to "the movement", to whom do you refer? My understanding is that there is no authority or over arching official as we are not an hierarchical organization.

Members of our local chapter which we are based in Toronto Ontario. They have since sent it out to the global coordinators through email. No hostility we were simply stating that if you have concerns to contact us directly. That is a much more effective way to communicate. The way you are doing it now is because this does not fit your selective ideals and you are letting you imagination run in the negative direction and are purposely posting on here passive aggressively to hinder our moving forward. When in reality as I stated before you should wait until launch and then voice your concerns when you have ones that have proof behind them. We have been nothing but honest with the community and have been as transparent as possible. We have answered every question on this thread and through pm.

If there was hostility you were sensing its because you know what you are doing with your posts and think we are hindered or upset by them when we were simply stating that you will get a much better response and direct one if you contact us directly.

I know The Zetigeist Movement from several years now. Went to seminars and e-talks, saw all the movies of TZM and others related to it and trully believe that this coin could be an excellent transition to what we advocate.

I have a question for everyone who is posting here saying that they are really into the movement and look forward to the launch of this project. Do you feel at all conflicted about the fact that the Zeitgeist Movement advocates the disuse of money in general, and yet with this Zeitcoin there will be a Zeitgeist branded form of money? I'm just curious to know your thoughts.

TZM's mission statement

Founded in 2008, The Zeitgeist Movement is a sustainability advocacy organization, which conducts community based activism and awareness actions through a network of global/regional chapters, project teams, annual events, media and charity work.

The movement's principle focus includes the recognition that the majority of the social problems that plague the human species at this time are not the sole result of some institutional corruption, absolute scarcity, a political policy, a flaw of "human nature" or other commonly held assumptions of causality. Rather, the movement recognizes that issues such as poverty, corruption, pollution, homelessness, war, starvation and the like appear to be "symptoms" born out of an outdated social structure.

While intermediate reform steps and temporal community support are of interest to the movement, the defining goal is the installation of a new socioeconomic model based upon technically responsible resource management, allocation and design through what would be considered the scientific method of reasoning problems and finding optimized solutions.

This “Natural Law/Resource-Based Economy" (NLRBE) is about taking a direct technical approach to social management as opposed to a monetary or even political one. It is about updating the workings of society to the most advanced and proven methods known, leaving behind the damaging consequences and limiting inhibitions. which are generated by our current system of monetary exchange, profit, business and other structural and motivational issues.

The movement is loyal to a train of thought, not figures or institutions. The view held is that through the use of socially targeted research and tested understandings in science and technology, we are now able to logically arrive at societal applications that could be profoundly more effective in meeting the needs of the human population, increasing public health. There is little reason to assume war, poverty, most crime and many other monetarily-based scarcity effects common in our current model cannot be resolved over time. The range of the movement's activism and awareness campaigns extend from short to long term, with methods based explicitly on non-violent methods of communication.

The Zeitgeist Movement has no allegiance to country or traditional political platforms. It views the world as a single system and the human species as a single family and recognizes that all countries must disarm and learn to share resources and ideas if we expect to survive in the long run. Hence, the solutions arrived at and promoted are in the interest to help everyone on Earth, not a select group.


Look above at what I put in red they are against traditional forms of the monetary system. I think this solution i.e. crypto currency can accomplish alot of their goals that they are trying to accomplish. It is about challenging the system and trying to break it down through science and technology.

Dude I think your problem is your pigeon holed in your beliefs of what cryptocurrency can be the sky is the limit it is all about the application in real world not about how other alt coins are used. Look at all other coins some are for profit and some have philanthropic efforts do you put them all in the same category?

that's a good question. I advocate TZM for long time and I'll try to share my point of view on this matter:


1. We are far from being able to manage a society without the use of money. That's what the movement advocate, just like me, but inconceivable at this time.

2. A transition is necessary. The decentralized aspect of cryptocurrencies could be a medium for that transition.

3. TZM advocates above all a just and equitable society. The ideology behind this coin seems to me to be exactly that.

Would love to hear from others inside TZM :)

I could point out more reasons why this could be an alternative and a good way to start an transition alternative, but would go into personal domain debate and I'm not into it atm :)

Please note that this is my personal view, I'm not a god, guru or whatever, so please don't attack me (talking to the haters :D)

I don't disagree with any of your points in general. In fact, when I first heard of Bitcoin, I understood immediately that it could be a useful transition technology. What I'm asking about is though, should we put the Zeitgeist name on any particular instance of cryptocurrency or any other form of money? What will that accomplish exactly?

You do understand LightRider the term Zeitgeist is not made by TZM it is in the dictionary "the spirit of the time; general trend of thought or feeling characteristic of a particular period of time."

However that is not what you are asking. What is a movement about if it isn't about making steps in the right direction towards accomplishing their goals? It is nothing.

This is also an homage to TZM and as we stated aren't directly related with them. However we hope to be involved with them soon.

You still don't get it ZEIT coin is a crypto resource that will be used to trade with other resources.

As people have stated above it has real world applications in solving issues with our current FIAT system. Think of this as using science and Technology to challenge the current fiat system using "science and technology"

This challenges the current fiat system so it has accomplished something. It doesn't have to change the world as nothing can all at once.

That's it challenging or breaking the current system is what it accomplishes.

It'll make someone rich if you all get on board ;)

You're asking the right questions, and am spending more time deliberating this and the intentions of the Zeitgeist movement as a result. If I may ask a question in return, and forgive my naivety here, but how does the Zeitgeist movement intend to create a remuneration for our contributions to society without a system of reward abstracted to a basic unit of measure? If we are to transcend basic limitations such as language, culture and national borders how will we create a globally equitable system that would encourage and motivate people's participation?

My apologies, I've put two questions to you but one follows from the other. I do understand where you're coming from here, but I also like the fact that in this time we seem to have created a system that might just possibly offer an inkling of an alternative to our current monetary system. And it has no borders. It's far from the ultimate solution but I think it's important for representing at least a step towards thinking about how we may begin to realise the ideals of the Zeitgeist movement.

Now I have to watch Zeitgeist 3 again to refresh my memory. And make some more popcorn.

I'm seeing about 205 replies in this topic, and you posted 95 replies.. Zeitcoin is not based on any community, also you have 4 subscriber in Reddit. This is really bad for a "pre-ann" coin.

I suggest you to spend your energy for more useful or innovative things, not fraud.

A basic and estimated calculation: In first 6 week, 2.835 billion Zeit will be mined. And you have nearly 1 billion ZEIT.(I assumed block reward is 500k, (200k+800k /2))


This coin is nearly %34 premined in 6 weeks period. Another quick-buck sheme.
