yeah thats an old script written by crombiecrunch, who dropped off the face of the planet. It for the most part gets you going but there are a few issues with it and doesnt get you going up and running 100%

I've been using the yiimp script by xavatar but it doesn't have any help for a multiple server setup and I've been pulling my hair out trying to get a multiserver pool setup!

The yiimp script by xavatar is a cluster, he is not the original author of it and made some very serious changes to the way it runs that cause more headaches then help.

Helpful tip of the day, a properly setup pool doesn't need to have 'sudo' used for anything but linux system commands.

create a pool for easy mining and certainly practical enough for my taste. I was quite supportive and appreciated for this script. with the installation of a coin automatically I think it also makes these things become more interesting and can produce something that is optimal.

Problem at the beginning of the installation.

Typing "multipool" doenst do anything ... it's a folder ! Your script doenst work, but ty for the effort.

I did EXACTLY as explained in the tutorial and it fails at the beginning, i was able to make it run by avoiding the first script that is supposed to give special access to the newuser created. But it didnt, so i made it with :
adduser newuser
adduser newuser sudo
su - newuser

and it worked. but i'm stuck now at the installation of Daemon server, it doenst work when i click on it and make me go back on the root access ....

you need to follow the instructions. You need to have a fresh ubuntu 16.04 server. You need to download and run curl https://raw.githubusercontent.com/cryptopool-builders/Multi-Pool-Installer/master/bootstrap.sh | bash

as root, so if you are logged in as a user you need to sudo su -l to drop to the root command line. You need to create a new user through the script. After creating the new user, you need to reboot the machine and log back in as the new user, and then you can run multipool.

I did.... but multipool is a folder, typing "multipool" doenst do nothing ! .. something wrong with your scrypt

And anyway after i managed to make it work by going myself into cd Multi-Pool-Installer and bash bootstrap.sh and install the yiimp solo server, it fails at the Daemon server installation, after clicking on
"install Berkeley 4.x"

After selecting it (same thing for 5.x) it forces me go back to the root access ( i mean newuser access), same as if  i typed "cd" to go back to the main home access ... But in the video, it does work ...

 I'll keep posting solutions for the people who meets the same errors than me

NO it doesnt work correctly, you have to mention that people needs to avoid typing special characters in their chosen password.

Errors on the daemon installation :


I opened the specific port for RPC port of the daemon, with the command sudo ufw allow portnumber

i even rebooted server just in case, also reloaded ufw, tried also disabled it and enabled it back, then reboot server again.

Also i even tried to open ALL ports for tcp and udp, that doenst change anything, always same error :

ERROR Failed to connect to "serveripaddress" "portnumber" : Connection refused


I even mentionned the ufw to put all rules on IPv4 only, and not IPv6 as it is by default (and shouldnt) .... and not mentionned in the script...

the script handles special characters just fine.

there is nothing wrong with the script, "ERROR Failed to connect to" usually means that your coind is not running or you have the wrong info. If this is a single server install and yiimp and the coin wallets are on the same server you use either localhost or 127.0.0.1 as the server ip address. not your external server IP.

Personally i went for 16xvCPU and 65Gb ram - 1.2 TB SSD-  at vultr.com  in VPS services , really fast and worth it

so as of right now, no. It will not work with any default installation of yiimp. At some point ill make a version that will. But in all honesty, with lack of donations I have lack of desire to code lmao.

Yes I tried your script for installing the pool (didnt try the daemon/coin installer) and ran into issues with getting my coin in the pool...So i installed manually with the original yiimp and trying everything manually so I can learn..I would donate if I could - i'm broke haha

I am trying to setup this pool, but keep getting stuck at the yiimp server install. I keep getting redirected back to the new user command prompt.
I am a noob to Linux, and limited network knowledge, so anyone's help would be appreciated.

I've seen the video's and read, and re read the github info, but it seems it always stops at the same point. I'm not sure if I'm entering in the correct information. I must be doing something wrong as it always exits out of the installer.

During the install GUI it ask for a lot of information I am not familiar with, but entered what I thought was the correct information.
I am trying to set up a private pool, on my own network, which is behind(cascade) my Internet providers DSL modem/router.

Domain Name: what should I use/select(Y or N)?
Using Sub-Domain: what should I use/select(Y or N)?
Install SSL: what should I use/select(Y or N)?
Use AutoExchange: what should I use/select(Y or N)?
Use Dedicated Coin Ports: what should I use/select(Y or N)?

Domain Name(data entry): what should I use?
Stratum URL: what should I use?
System Email: what should I use?
Your Public IP: what should I use? this is where it exits out of the installer and back to command prompt.

Sorry for the noob questions, and thanks in advance for any help.


By the way, I am trying to install on my own personal server, not thru a cloud or hosting service.....if it makes a difference.

Ive just pushed a new version of the installer to github that has changed the initial questions. The first question is will ask is if you are using a domain name, if you are not and just using the server IP select no and it will skip some of the other questions that are not required for it. Obviously if you are using a domain name select yes and you will be prompted with some additional questions.

Why does your install script require to be run by root?
I do not see anything in bootstrap.sh that cannot be run by sudo.

Also, why can you not use an already created user?
What's so special about the new user created by the script?

I see you have a script for Ubuntu 18.10. Does it work on 18.04 LTS?
Can I run a local network copy of it on my Ubuntu box just so I can try it and learn it?
I would run a couple localnet miners against it to test it out.

Its setup this way for a few reasons. The biggest reason is because most people that would actually need this installer have no clue about linux and would not create a user and would install everything under the root account.

So the installer is setup to be first ran under root to force you to create a proper user account, log out of the root user, and log in to the user account to setup the server.

There is really nothing special about the user account it creates besides automatically adding passwordless sudo functionality.

To be honest the only reason you can not start it from an already created account, is because when I was writing it, my thoughts like I said was more on the new to linux users then the people with linux knowledge so there are some "preflight" things that happen like dir structures being made, checks for some required packages, etc that all happens before you reboot in to the new user account to continue the install.

And frankly, I just havent moved those checks to happen if you launch from an already created user account. So installation will fail.

And no none of this works on 18.04, there was a point where you could do a multi server setup and the web, db, and stratum could be on 18 but the daemon server still had to be on 16. So to avoid confusion its just all 16. 

Updated the installer and now installs on Ubuntu 16.04 or Ubuntu 18.04

tried on a virtualbox machine - it just stops after selecting the "external ip for admin purposes" ending at the prompt without any further message.

tried external ip ..
tried the ip of my local machine i would use
tried 127.0.0.1 to acess it from exactly this VM.

any ideas? :)

also tried various settings before like "with autoexchange yes/no" and "with ports per coin yes/no"
always stopped at the same menu action of setting the admin ip

are you leaving the ip that it shows? or are you entering a new one? also are you using your numberpad keys or the upper keys?

Still having the same issue at the last of the questions.

It shows this text "PublicIP" instead of the actual IP address the server has been issued by my routers DHCP.

Tried multiple time with entering in my actual IP address, with the same results.

How do I set "AdminPanel". The IP address that it shows me is my ISP's main address for my router. I want to use my private network IP address to access the AdminPanel.
What is the correct syntax.

Ok i pushed a new updated for you guys that are trying to install this locally. The new check will either add your public IP if you are logged in through SSH or it will just put in some dummy IP if you are logging in locally that you will need to change to whatever correct IP you need.

Hows about your script working when there are a few errors when the wallet is compiling ?
There are so many old wallets and other wallets that have some problems when you compile them because the maybe the dev. team dont have updated or worked on them anymore !
I run my one pool now for over an year with yiimp and i got a few wallets in the past that was realy painful for compile them because of errors in the code or opj folder wasnt empty and more.
Can your script handle that ? just asking .

And by the way nice work , its helpful for new users that want to try them on a mining pool .

so with the daemonbuilder script i wrote, there is actually an option that you can select after a coin build fails that has some of the more common fail reasons, and it will apply the fixes and build the coin.

Is there also an option that you can edit the faild file on the compile process ?
Or does your script give an detailed information on what file the compile was faild and what line on the code in the file is the problem that the compile has faild?

Im just asking because there are some wallets that have a few old codes in the file and when you compile them you have a few fails .
And if you dont know how to fix it the code it will take ages to solve it or maybe you dont get it working .

But i guess i dont have to tell you about .

the script does it all. So for example old ass error thats a pain, invalid application of sizeof error. So if the build fails and gives you that error, you rerun daemonbuilder select the Daemon Build Failed - Help! option and then there you will see Fix invalid application of sizeof error option, select that and it makes the edits and then continues to build the coin.

Like I said most of the common ones are there so coin building is a bit easier and faster for both new folks and old timers.

started the setup again with root - as stated in the initial post - it went over the "local ip issue" and is now installing ...

but it looks like it's doing that with the root user now.
i only run it local behind my router - so it's not a big deal - anyway i was wondering :)

Install completed successfully - tried 2 installs -
first one the ip to admin the system from lan on main computer or localhost .. both just open an empty site.
i guess thats cause yiimp will bind to my external ip (and script wont let me change that) ...
tried to edit this in the settings after complete setup but it didnt change the behaviour.

interesting. so on a fresh install you are logging in as root user, and are you running the curl command to download the installer from github? If so when it launches its not prompting you to create a user?

i ran the curl command as root user once more to upgrade the script!
and it was not asking me again for the user to run on ..

biggest problem was the ip yiimp binds to .. (external ip)
i dont want to use it for external connections - therefore i'm not setting any portforwarding from my router.

accessing the internal ip only gives me a blank page (on main pool address and on admin address).

i can't interrupt my gateway connection while installing cause it can't download then :D

i'm ready to reinstall my ubuntu 18 to start from scratch again if neccesary!

Total noob question: What's next? I'm totally new to this and really have no clue on what do do next to get the pool configured or setup. I would appreciate ANY help from anyone on this.

I guess what I'm asking, is for a step-by-step (setting up a cryptopool-builders yiimp pool for Dummies) guide to get the server up and running for testing, and then production for the public.

My long term goal is to have a public anonymous solo merged mining pool for LTC and DOGE, to start, with addition of new coins in the future.
The current solo mm pool I am using, the pool OP has been missing-in-action, meaning, no communications what-so-ever with users of his/her pool, in over a year.
The pool I am referring to is TBDice.org, and as far as I can tell, no updates to the pool software, and sometimes the pool gets "stuck" for a while with nothing updating, and it does not mine ALL weights of blocks.

So, is this pool software capable of anonymous solo merged mining, or is a major software re-coding needed? If so, I can make some LTC "donations" to the coder/s to get this pool setup/modified,  up and running.

Out of the box you can not do solo mining. It does require some heavy coding and DB changes to add that feature.

You can just create an pool with your setup and just dont share the pool adress or ip or the stratum port with others and point your miners there !
So only you are mining on the pool but you need a lot of hash power if want to find some blocks , for sure it depends on what coin and algo you want to mine.
Solo mining i would advice that you are doing this straight from the wallet you want to mine.
Point your miner to the wallet and start.

Other wise yeb it needs a lot of recoding on the pool software.

There is a problem installing coins.
First, let's say that the installer works very well.
I'm trying with the blake2s algorithm
With the help of the installer and Berkeley 4.x I installed "VERGE",
I opened ports, I created currency, I created .conf
i can't start it. I get an error: "Error reading configuration file: Invalid configuration value gen".
...
I tried installing the new currency "NEVAcoin",
there I installed with Install Coin with makefile.unix file as described in github. The installation was successful. I reopened the ports, created the currency, .conf.
This is where the demon starts and everything looks normal, but the miner can't join.
Cannot connect to xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:5767

Can you give me a hand. Where is my mistake?

So the example config that is generated in yiimp is kind of a generic across the board config. In this case you will need to remove the gen=0 line for the verge config. You may need to make other edits to the file as well depending on the coin.

is this a single server install? if so the only ports you need to open are the stratum ports. If you arent using dedicated ports for example sha would be 3333 if you are using dedicated ports and using the "addport" command that will automatically open the port it creates for you.

And also if you are not using dedicated ports you need to make sure you start the stratum, so again for sha you would run stratum start sha256 on the cli.

I have reloaded Ubuntu 16.04 and this 6 times and still haven't got it load a website.

don't install Https
letting it control the firewall

And still don't have a site up.

I need to retract my previous statements. This SCRIPT will do it all. It was my selection of OS on my machine that made it so difficult. After some reading on Discord that you have to use Ubuntu Server Edition. Once, I got that correct he help me get it all fine-tuned. Totally enjoy it now. Thanks for all you Hard Work.

I have tried this script before, without luck. Installed Xavatar script, successfully and ran 8 coins. I had issues with not paying out, and also a couple of other issues so came back to this script (fully clean install of U16.04)

I have installed the script, MOTD says Main, Blocks, Loop & Debug running, however I cant access the domain name, nor admin.

With the Xavatar version, I changed the YAAMP_ADMIN_IP in serverconfig.php to my local machine IP and could access everything, however this isnt working with your script.

Firefox is throwing ¨Unable to connect" issue regardless of what I do.

Any ideas? Ive set it at my public Ip, local ip, localhost, and 127.0.0.1 but still cant access either my domain, or the admin panel.

yeah there is an issue with certbot failing, so its preventing nginx to start correctly. Im working on a fix should be done tomorrow.

Ive sudo purged etc NGinx a few times but it keeps coming back to this. I havent checked the github pages to see if its failing picking up the variable for password or not.. unfortunately im 'essential' so cant stay home from work during the zombie apocalypse

are you entering your own password for mysql during the questions part? or are you leaving it as the autogenerated one? Also are you installing on a fully fresh system?

Hey! Awesome work you put in here. I also was wanting to add an algo also, say ethash for instance. I have looked through much of the code and think I understand the general logical flow.. The web api talks to mysql to retrieve data. Stratum pushes stuff into SQL. 
I know a stratum that supports ethash and a daemon is a part of all this.

I'm not expecting any sort of guide or anything, I appreciate the work you guys have done on this.
Just wanting to know what files would need to be edited/added to make it happen. I know stratum would have to be recompiled or another stratum stood up that is capable or pushing the same data into SQL.

i need help to add coin like bitcoin and ethereum and run statrum and set wallet and fee and other config

There are many configuration YIIMP tutorials in YouTub, you can go.

I looked everywhere in net but
I did not find direct training
When I Want A add Coin  in yiimp daemonbuilder
like dogecoin
or  zcash
I encounter this line
