Anyone know the reason of it?

Maybe everything is as usual - manipulation in the market, because lately all such coins have fallen down on such an excuse!

Bitcoin dump. Every cryptocurrency in any world has dumped because of the rich guy selling their bitcoin off to the exchange, not a manner.

No reason. The ETH is literally passing through bad patch and most of the people are dumping it so that they can earn more bitcoins by exchanging it with ETH. It is but obvious that why people are getting into BTC because they are seeing the market is growing all the time. If thats the case then surely they will have more of it and dump ETH and reducing the value of it in the process. Also do not forget that BTC prices are going upwards day by day and looking at which people are also dumping rest of the altcoins too and thus its not just ETH but rest of the coins too. Who knows, most of the miners who held ETH for very long period in hope that it will gain profits are now selling it to achieve that goal through BTC.

Looks like everybody is busy selling ETH instead of replying to the question. As far as I went through major predictions and upcoming events, I found no sign indicating such a brutal drop. Ethereum has kinda large market cap to be manipulated by some pump&dump activities. Looks like Bitcoin starts to follow, so maybe some more general reason affecting all the crypto market.

Dunno what happens with ETH. I suggest it is something with ICO-projects

Just an ordinary day for ETH and whole crypto currency its a part of a ball game. We are given now a chance to buy ETH at lower price to hold. It will probably will make a move in the coming week just have more patience....

Maybe you're right. I'm following ETH chart these days and receive than Ethereum can decrease to $250 zone, but I can't imagine that it crash too fast like that.

Sincerely I wish I know the cause of this dump in price, it really frustrating. Within 2 days, we can not even enjoy 24 hours rise in price. More so, the dump so affect ethereun than any other coin.

ETH crash is the hot topic since a month now. No one knows whats wrong with this blockchain because where it headed to the 1200 last year, it was the best project of all time and then it dumped all the way down to 800 USD this year. Everyone thought that this is might because of BTC and the rest market and nothing else but soon ETH started to revert back to its original prices of 300 bucks and thus shook everyone from their chair!! May be this heavy drop led most of the people to dump the ETH even further and thus as of now things are getting converted into the worst case scenario for the ETH. May be its the highly increased sell wall which is not letting it come up and most of the people are scared to invest into it.

It has happened many times this year. Strong growth in several weeks and falling in just a few hours. I know for sure that the market and ETH will fall because this is just a bull trap. ETH will continue to go down and it will definitely fall below 250$ today

Yes, I also see this. Bitcoin and all altcoins fell. What does it mean? We had very good uptrend and I hope it is temporary and tomorrow everything will be recovered.

This collapse doesn't involve ICO projects. It's not only ETH but also most of the coins on the market, you can see visually on the coinmarketcap. We think too much to ETH.

Against BTC, the ethereum fell for a long time, including, when BTC grew in value. Of course, when bitcoin dumped, there was the boost dump of the ether. It looks obnoxious.

Its another bloodbath, bitcoin as well fell from as high as $7300-$6900 in just hours as well. So the bears has woken up, shake two of the coins in marketplace. People are panic selling now or cashing it out that's why the price is going down. The only reason why it is happening today is pure manipulation. Just look at how the price plummet in matter of hours for both of them with no reason to. No negative news whatsoever in crypto sphere that will cause this dramatic drop that we are witnessing today.

All the alts did mostly, just following bitcoin down I expect. Price of ETH is so low now though.

actually not only 3 hours, only a few seconds price will drop a heartbeat able to 50% if the owner of coin sell with a very large number of ,, all so price can not we predicted

We know all digital currencies depends on BTC & ETH, whales are playing with alt coins & trying to manipulate.
If we look at the previous graph of BTC or ETH then we can find huge dumps like todays & the major reasons is big investors take out around 10 billion.

Ethereum price has just followed bitcoin price. We know it's the norm in cryptocurrency market. Just look into another altcoin price, you can observe now that the prices are falling too.

i hope it could crash more ,so that i could buy more. Bitcoin pulled Ether and all other altcoins behind him, and the reason for this fall was news in the Mass media. Although all already waited for growth to 8-10k, the market operates from the opposite and on mass expectation fell down.

That is nothing to be surprised of since ETH was unable to maintain the $300 position in the past few days. Based on my experience in this long bear market and unstable prices, i am always expecting a huge number of seller to dump their altcoin for a minor pump. You also have to keep in mind that any altcoin price divisible to 100 or 500 target serves as a barrier or a wall.

it's probably just normal on a bear market like this, but with time it will recover.

What da...Hopefully will not, I saw now Ethereum deeply sink the price in the market cap with the dominance of 10.66% downtrend, it is really swinging more when the bitcoin goes down. for now, the digital currency is still dependent on BTC and ETH, it cannot be replaced by another if BTC and ETH drop in others when they go down too and for ethereum they still follow bitcoin and if possible, each one is not dependent.

I wonder why topic starter make attention on Ethereum. Top10 alts like Bitcoin cash, Eos and Cardano also dropped in price in more than 10%.
That is just a reaction to bitcoin price drop imho and there is nothing wrong with ETH, BCH, EOS and ADA.

It's not just ETH, Bitcoin is down 5% now, but BCH and crap EOS is down 11%. Ethereum has been the worst investment this year, I have no idea why its crashing. I know there is some FUD surrounding the upcoming fork? It's probably crashing due to that debate. I'm not sure, The only thing I am sure about is that I should not have boughten ETH. It's funny beacuse I was only using ETH to earn more BTC but I ended up losing nearly half of the BTC I invested in ETH. Lesson learned, only hold Bitcoin.  ;)

I do not think anyone can say the particular reason why this happened but I am sure it is still being affected by price manipulation and also there is less demand for ethereum.

ethereum is still following the Bitcoin movement, which is why when Bitcoin plunges ethereum automatically follows it because ethereum is now not strong enough to withstand the storm, but it's a chance to return to take a little profit if Bitcoin returns green.

We never knew exactly but isn't just ETH have a huge decline today but the entire market including btc. Such huge fall is just surprising us since we are expecting more hike as we are in the BER  months but I believe these won't take so long and be back to normal again.

Today's decline is very sudden, I went to read some news, there is no negative report about cryptocurrency, but the market decline is so fast, I don't know what happened, I want to know why？

It is most probably because of Bitcoin price dipped 5%. And it is not only ETH that is affected, other altcoins’ prices dipped as well.

This is the usual thing that happens on all coins. No need to worry, because with the decline will be followed by the increase. If indeed the ethereum down, then surely soon will be up.

Not only has Ethereum fallen so much in a short period of time. All the top coins have lost their value . I think that the main reason is the elimination of long positions in the market in a short period of time.

I read a news on cointelegraph saying that this drop has happened after a big withdrawal from the silk road wallet. But I didn't get the news completely. I mean I can't understand because I have no knowledge about what is silk road. Anyway. what I all know is yesterday we had a very big price drop.

Ethereum crashed because the whole market dumped again yesterday. went high for a few days and dumped just after. currently around 224 dollars and i hope eth does'nt fall below that as i fear it wont recover. This year has really been a trying year for cryptocurrency in general. Lets see  how it ends though and not give up all hope.

There is no particular reason on this. up and down the price of crypto is usual in the market that even included in the ethereum too. live how the strategies used to keep could earn profit from it is even when the value goes down though. so no need to panic in this too and not too easy to pull off in a cheap price.

Yes you are right dude, the price of cryptocurrency is really unpredictable and honestly i can't guess why the price of eth decreasing drasticly in this moment. I predict that in September 2018, the price of eth will increase because in the end of august 2018 the price of eth increasing slowly. But in fact my prediction it's wrong that the price of eth, btc or most of altcoins falling down and today eth's price just reach $225. Hopefully the condition of market will be better and many people interested invest in cryptocurrency to increase the value of coins.

Goldmann sacchs cancelled the development of their Bitcoin trading platform, which somehow lead to a fucking 20% market crash... Really. How the hell does one platform crash an entire market by 20%? This is why as soon as Bitcoin gets above $7,000 again I'm going to get the hell out of my holdings, it's ridiculous. The market is unbelievably sensitive to bad news right now, when one tiny piece of news like this can literally knock $35B off the market cap, you know something isn't right.

Re-correction occurs in bitcoin, this is the most logical reason. because almost all altcoins dropped by more than 5%. You can learn and analyze the market.

I don't think there is any new reason to what is widely known in cryptocurrency community. Bitcoin is rising and when bitcoin rise other altcoin usually will fall. Investors like to move their funds around. A lots of people are doing this right now moving from alt to bitcoin!

actually, I don't know why eth prices have drastically decreased in price, whether the issue of market manipulation actually occurs or not, but strangely enough when the price of btc rises, altcoin prices including eth will also rise, but yesterday when the price of btc it is experiencing an increase, but eth did not experience a price increase, whereas currently the BTC has experienced a decline in eth prices and has also decreased prices.

Not only Ethereum, it has fallen by -20% for the past 24 hours, and BTC has fallen by -12% up to now. The whole market is experiencing a huge decline, but I personally can not see a specific reason. Nowhere have I read anything specific that could lead to such a sharp downturn.

Ethereum crash the value because they depends to the bitcoin price.  If we want to see ethereum to pump again we need to buy more ether. Because if most people continue to sell their ethereum it will decreased the value.

This is not the first drop. It has already dropped a lot of times, though it showed signs of recovery earlier this week when it got to $289 and I thought it would continue to go from there, but just few hours today it’s already down to $257, but I’m not really worried about it, even Bitcoin itself dropped down from $7k plus and down to $6k,plus. if the technology behind crypto is so valuable, can you tell me why it has lost 85%?? If you think this technology will change the world, wouldn't you hold your position on the technology no matter what problems it would face???

The answer is clear: investors DON'T SEE CRYPTO AS A SOLUTION TO ANYTHING BUT WINNING MONEY. That's why whenever there is a problem, NOT EVEN RELATED TO THE TECHNOLOGY, a technological asset loses value.

Bears are BETTING ALL THEIR MONEY TO CRASH THE COINS, BECAUSE THEY WIN MONEY BY BETTING IT WILL LOSE MONEY.

And it seems that nothing can stop the Ethereum from further falling. If bitcoin reaches 5800, the price of the Etherium will drop to $ 180.

Not only ethereum Bitcoin and all other altcoins were also go down, Altcoins works on predictions and prediction base on bad or good news.

Since i think that the last big drop to 250$ was because some ICOs got scared and panic sold their funds, I think that the same is happening here from range 250 to 218 some more  projects are getting cold feet.
It is possible that more of this will happen, it means that it will be very extremely to get back on uptrend since i doubt that these icos will buy back.

This is the bad times for us Ethereum Hodlers im losing heavy since im bought my Ethers at $600 dollars and some of $425 level  still im holding it and I have no plan to sell it since because if i sell it im going to coup a huge losses sometimes im losing faith on Ethereum. The market may be re-ranked because of the decline of Ethereum. Ethereum will lose its second position. I think that BCH or XRP may replace Ethereum. I am glad that most of my Ethereum has been sold.

The crash of yesterday the 5th of September didn't only affect ethereum but the entire cryptocurrency market was affected even bitcoin crashed greatly .   And manipulation of the  market might  be the reason for the sudden crash.

Yeah absolutely not only Ethereum was affected by big dump last September 5 but also bitcoin as will Bitcoin 13% setback is so devastating, since start to climb to the 7k and it is gradually increasing.

That`s happen since ever, longer before I joined, in years I`m here and probably we will not see the end of fluctuations in upcoming years. 10% two years ago was 20$-30$ for bitcoin, for other alts it was much lower, now when price of bitcoin is 7,000$ dollars 10% is 700$. It sounds a lot, but thats what it is, just more soundly. People shouldn`t worry about fluctuations, use them in your advantage if you are a trader, if you are long term holder try to not watch the prices at all. I know it`s hard, but you need to try that.

If you take a closer look at what happened yesterday I.e September 5 2018 you can see that the whole crypto market crashed heavily. The crash doesn't affect only ethereum nearly all the coins in market. I think the reason for the fall is just price manipulation and all of people began to sell their coin at ridiculous price.

Down another 10% now. Don't really think there's any real reasons for the market dumping. Just big whales cashing out. Nothing you can do about it.

This market is very volatile and predictable, so thing like that happen very often and we must be prepared for that.

There has been a bearish trend in the crytocurrency space lately and the price of most cryptocurrency has dropped by significant percentage. Ethereum happens to be one of them. Hopefully, there will be some uptrend in the near future.

Ethereum crashing(falling)  is something usual to everyone, and we're all hoping for it rise....

In my opinion there is no specific reason for this. up and down the usual cryptocurrancy prices on the market which are even included in Ethereum as well. just how the strategy used to save can get profit from it even when the value goes down. We know that one day the market will explode again and those who are not afraid to buy now, will soon feel satisfaction.

I am not sure the whales care that much about Ethereum compared to Bitcoin, they manipulate the latter instead.

The issue about Ethereum is that it do not live up to the hype in my opinion, and don't forget one thing: very very huge supply compared to Bitcoin. This + no market capitalization. These two points alone make it very hard for Ethereum to grow past a certain point.

I've been saying this for months now on this forum, but for me Bitcoin price mainly depends on traders now, it's been like this since March/April, I think it was less the case in the second half of 2017 because we witnessed several forks, so the context was very different.
But graphs basically tell the big traders when to buy and when to sell, of course they manipulate heavily the behaviors of the small holders.

I think the main reason is the sudden drop in BTC prices leading to ETH and all other altcoins. ETF is the reason why BTC prices fall, and until 30 September, after the final decision from S.E.C, the BTC price may increase if approved.

until now I haven't seen the bad news about Eth, I think this is a manipulation of market makers and whales. because Ethereum has a long stable price in the past. so I think, they are saturated and make new prices. and that is a low price. a great opportunity for us to buy ethereum again. and hold for the long term.

I think ETH is getting a big influence from the decline of bitcoin, it's funny, a drop short bitcoin makes a lot of altcoins fall drastically.

 I think most altcoins price movement depends solely on the bitcoin protocol,therefore whenever there is shift in the demand curve for bitcoin, there will be likely be a shift in the demand curve for Ethereum and other altcoins in the bitcoin payment protocol, if all things being equal.

I don't know the actual reason, but yesterday night, I saw a news about 200,000 ETH flash sell, Sorry I did not read that article, just saw the headline. Some crypto experts told me in a telegram that Ethereum will go under 200 USD in this month, otherwise, it will hit again 300 USD!

I bought ethereum today and hope prices will not go down again. We should wait for the cow to come back to eth $ 1200 again.

Yea based on the information I've heard it's money that was made from ICO's and then dumped. Supposedly shifted into BTC but by the looks of BTC also falling it's probably more likely that the Ethereum dump was diversified into other alts as well an maybe some USD tether also. Moving it into other altcoins would make more sense though since there are some really low BTC prices on alts right now.

Well i do not always check the crypto market price movement and it seems that there could be some good reason why it continues to drop that far. As we all know that this market price for ethereum right now is the lowest market price for ethereum in the year 2018. Maybe there could be some good reason also why it drop that far.

In this crypto world it is more expected the word volatility in any form of crypto coins in the market for it is unregulated and decentralised there will be an unstable and fluctuated value of crypto currency. It could be just a normal market crash, it happens. It happens to stocks, normal fiat currencies and so cryptocurrencies are no different. There are times where you will not see any growth and all you are going to see is red, its normal. That is where patience and continued support for the coin that you have invested in comes in. With time the price will gradually recover.

I am  really tired or reading news about ethereum's price crash. For once, I just want a positive trend on that. I trust and I believe in this coin, but I just want something that  could hold on to.
