Does anyone knows WHY?

It will be the impact of reduction in the price of bitcoin.Now the price of bitcoin is again started to increase.So we can expect the huge raise again in the price of bitcoin and Ethereum.If you have ETH in your wallet,just hold your Ethereum with patience.In two or three days,the price of bitcoin and Ethereum will get back to old price.

Bitcoin fell around 3-4% and as always altcoins perform worse, ETH was not alone in this, most of the top 100 coins had losses in double figure percentages or close to it. I don't think there's anything particular behind it just normal market movements.

If you will go around the forum, you will see people talking about the stocks meltdown on Thursday that affected not just the US stocks market but EU and Japan as well. So we can say that stock and crypto market is somewhat correlated. So you might see a significant drop on both bitcoin and altcoins markets, however, its the alts that suffered the most, bitcoin around 3%-5% down, but like you mentioned Ethereum went as high as 10% yesterday. But it looks like they're all green now so you don't need to panic.

The same what happenning with all other altcoins. All of it dropped from 10 to 30%. but when market goes up altcoins pumping from 10 to 30% too.)

Yes but ETH was dropping too much we compared to other alts. Seems now ETH is behaving like other alts. It used to not drop that much

Just surf around the forum and you'll see the same questions as you do. It is not only for ethereum but most of the alts now are also suffering. Around $12B-$20B has been wipe out within the said day of the dip. Don't panic as usual tip for everyone that's very disappointed with the situation.

I think one of the major reason of this fast dropped this week are affect your f eth fail of approval, but need to worry for sure the price will go on again and the celebration coming soon.

The market has fallen sharply today due to the sharp drop in the stock market. So other markets and especially the cryptocurrency are considerably affected. ETH's exchange rate has dropped by more than 10% in just one day. But I believe that is only temporary because at the end of the year ETH rates will recover.

The ETH, as well as the entire downward market in the exchange rate, is quite normal at this period, the cryptocurrency market is suffering from the crisis on the stock market leading to a reduction in the exchange rate. So you should be patient and wait until the exchange rate recovers.

The bad news has come from US and that was giving a lot of fear in the market. Another bad news about ETF will come next month and it could give another big drop again dude, You can see that how it becomes worst and worst because so many bad news have already happened. These news give a lot of impact to the ethereum holders.

Read it couple of places that this latest selloff may be due to traders raising cash to meet margin calls in stock market selloff. May be over hopefully.

You're wrong OP, BTC moved down as well like the others. See market went down yesterday and more or less than $10B down in overall marketcap. If you are a trader you can still see the bright side of this situation as if you will check yesterday there are coins/tokens that pumped. Ex. INS BAT MTH DNT  :)

Eth does not go up and down like other coins, so this decline is like a mass, so don't panic. Look ahead and hope that the value will be better and more beneficial.

yes, nothing significant with the market. just the usual up and down. the trend behavior in eth market is the same as most of the other major altcoins or tokens.

this is just a kind of manipulation of the wholesaler's game to buy at a low price, they always create panic at the small traders to sell their coins, and I still believe that eterum and others will soon go to the moon

Well said! Someone with a lot of capital is trying to manipulate the price only to buy a lot cheaper. New investors are very sensible for such manipulations, and sell coins very cheap. What is happening means only that soon the price will go to space!

This is the game that is going on, as a beginner it must be vigilant and careful to deal with this. Need to learn a lot to bring success. Eth's value was enough to panic, but surely it can overcome and what will be done.

I believe it is mostly because of bitcoin, the impact of bitcoin increasing its value is somehow significant in ETH and other altcoins its not severe but it still affects the overall market of ETH and every time bitcoin has a movement or improvement it is most likely that most (not all) altcoin might suffer for the reason of bitcoin changing.

The market fall of ETH won't be long though rejection is part of every coin in cryptocurrencies and it is normal for one to have some difficulties.

Whenever Vitalik says his predictions about crypto, it follows that eth goes down. Well, that is just based on my observation. So that's one factor. Another is altcoins are correlationally proportional to bitcoin. Whenever btc goes down, almost all altcoins go down with it too. But eth among them has surprisingly and alarmingly drastic drop. Imagine its creator says things like crypto could drop to near-zero if people will not really panic and sell all their eth. Well, I appreciate Vitalik for being honest and realistic. Anyway, at the end of the day, their decision to be swayed and sell is still up to them.

I really have to agree with this. Recently anyway, sometimes I feel like these founders just need to shut up and let the market decide where it wants to go. But didn't Mr Vitalik say that he wanted to step down from Ethereum? About time too. The price will suffer like hell for sure when or if he does that, but if ETH wants to survive after this, they definitely need to clarify to everyone that Ethereum does not have 1 person to fall back on for everything. Time for this centralized leadership ETH to try become a bit more decentralized.

Interest from new investors has declined a little giving some holders the jitters especially short term speculators

Add to that some negative sentiment in the market which could be attributed to recent FUD spread by the media and you have a bit of uncertainty

We knew already prices fluctuates easily as it happen into ETH. We never to have worries if Ethereum price fall cause it actually recover in few hours and it is matured enough for that situation. This is not the first time that market fall since from the start, there is the more worse thing happen before that of today.

The decline in Bitcoin has affected the price of Ethereum. Of course, this is also related to the panic effect. When most people start panicking sales, it may cause further decline in the market!

there was no news or a fundamental reason for the market crash, who knows what caused this and I was confused about this sudden decline. crypto is a fluctuating market and can change at any time, but I don't think we should panic about situations like this.

The bad situation in the cryptocurrency market is the result of artificial manipulation. Of course, these manipulations are carried out due to the presence of a huge amount of Bitcoin in their wallets and this is exactly what big whales are abusing. There is no ethereum guilt.

The lowest price for ETH this year was $170 - I do not think it could fall back to this price again. November will be a month of increases.

We can't control the manipulations unless there's a regulations behind eth platform, but I don't think this will continue to ponder. Whatever it takes the holder will not surrender even though right now many people perish a lot without any successful trades. Eth will soon recovers and survive the current trend happening.

This is also my hunch as to why crypto in general experience a sharp decline in the last couple of days. Stock market falls sharply and the domino effect is has to crypto is very solid. Right now though it seems that its over as some altcoins seems to bounce back and ETH is just below $200 (at $199.xx).

Even if ETH gets regulated by the goverment or any cryptocurrencies get regulated , we still can not control it. Just look at those fiat, how many times it got pumped or dumped by them ? even because of that, some countries were facing a crisis. Manipulation is part of human, as long as you and them are human we can not avoid it.
beside manipulation, the reason why cryptocurrencies moved to the ground was due to fear and hesitation. a lot of thing happened with them when cryptocurrencies reached its peak a few months ago, losing their investment and even some of them were losing their house.

The reason why the price of the bitcoin and etheruem is falling , because those people who bought bitcoin and etheruem like before 2-5 years are selling their bitcoin and etheruem because they need money or they scared to lose their profit and because of that other people are selling bitcoin and etheruem because they panic.

Bitcoin and etheruem prices are falling because more and more investors are selling Bitcoin/etheruem at low prices, causing the price of Bitcoin/etheruem to drop. If they continue to hold Bitcoin/etheruem at a low price I am sure the price of Bitcoin/etheruem will not fall this way. And now there are also some countries that prohibit the use of Btc/Eth so that Btc/Eth users in the country stop using Btc/Eth. Surely this greatly affects the development of Bitcoin prices. But the current Bitcoin/Etheruem price increase may be long and the price will rise even higher.

It is probably the FUD again that brings down the price of most altcoin and bitcoin. It will continue for the next few months if we don't have a good news coming. So the suffering and bleeding of most altcoins will be felt so does bitcoin because it just dropped to -$300 from it's previous price, what more could we expect from it?

Not only the Ethereum but most of the Altcoins are falling again. This was due to we are still in the middle of the bearish market in which most Cryptos were affected, its just happen that Bitcoin did not fall but this is not what we are looking for the Bitcoin price therefore Bitcoin is still affected too. Hopefully it will bounce back now and that the bearish market will be over as we have few months left before this year will end.

All of this is because the market is still in flux, when the trend has risen but the volume is not parallel to the increase, the market will return to the bear. So you just have to hold the coin you have, learn to be patient from now on than you regret and lose

u can't control the price but in order to win (gain profit) u need to learn how to adjust to the changing conditions.

I think the price of cryptocurrencies are extremely unstable and have multiple reasons for their price movements.  Mostly the drop is because there is huge sell side pressure from companies that raised money through ICO and it grew 40X without forming support, which generally doesn’t end too well. And then many ICOs based ethereum, so that project funding is obtained from ethereum, and makes prices go down because developers sell ETH. Another thing is the number of scam projects that make the ETH image worse.

No one knows why coins prices are dropping at the moment however they'll eventually recover.

Obviously, there must be another recession, it happened. So do not be surprised and wait for better times, I don’t see any other way what to do in such a market.

I think it's not too strange to respond to the decline that happened yesterday, we certainly know in the last few months prices always move like this by making small lumps or called fake pumpers, repeating them continuously like that and that applies to all coins on the market, it's still the strange thing is to see every reciprocal movement that can make the market better than before, almost a year the market may not be good next year with a new start and a better market, it is very difficult to predict, so don't be too surprised and don't be too ambitious to get the advantage that there will be a boomerang against yourself.

Why are you surprised? over the past year, more than 500 ICOS have collected an average of 20 thousand Ethereum, now all its owners are starting to sell it on the exchanges.

I think that with ETH happened the same as with the entire market, it fell many times. The reasons why it happened a lot, maybe we see the real price of all that is in this market. There will be growth and it will undoubtedly come new investors and global companies apply these technologies. I think the growth will be gradual.

Can I trust to invest long term??

What do you think. I have mining ETH for 7 months. Thats where I put my money in ETH!!

It is not necessary to focus so much on Ethereum, because it is no secret that Ethereum at any moment can fall in price, it is an altcoin, it has a lot of owners with large sums.

ETH price is hovering around $200 for last many days similar to BTC price near $6500. It is still near its bottom price zone.

Ethereum has not performed very well in this 2017 and you should know that the scamming icos that are using Ethereum contact to raise fund has scared investors away . Many people are getting discouraged in investing into cryptocurrencies now because of fear of losing or lost their fund to scammers. We just need to understand this state of the market you have say and we should know that Ethereum is very close to the bottom and very soon the bottom will be hit and bullish trend will resume.

Almost in this year, ETH values are fluctuating quite large, but fluctuate in a downward trend, there is no growth, so I think we should not buy ETH now, maybe value them further. The downsizing will thus make you lose money if you invest in them

That is a good estimated value for Ethereum. With the new ICO's I think that more people prefer no to invest in new projects who are holding a token sale.

ETH is relatively high in Fiat today. I was thinking that I would hit below zero. But it didn’t.

i think this is a result if those newly completed ICOs that uses ethereum platform will cash out there collected ETH into fiat to cover their development funds. Which will give a increase in circulating supply that cause the price of ETH to fall down. 

These difficult times for ETH coin will soon pass, so I always trust the ETH coin and always hold them, even if they fall down $ 50, I still hold, I expect At the end of the year, the ETH price could exceed $ 1000.

I think that the quality of ico company does not affect the future prospects of ethereum in the future. The value of ethereum is completely different, and the relevance of ethereum on the market actually increases its price.

Everything you have notice on the market is just a normal movement and nothing else, it may be some price correction because we haven't heard any good news yet, that's why it's just moving just like that. Once you've learn the movement of the market from it's history you will learn on how to control their emotions during at this kind of situation.

Ethereum has been losing in values and it has pull down most of the coins and tokens that are related to it. We should keep holding anyway because the future hold a lot for us and I believe that one day Ethereum is going to be above $1000 again. It is clear that now is the best time to buy Ethereum.

Bitcoin is probably part of the reason why ether is trading sideways and and dumping at the same time.  Many ether holder are playing ether bitcoin price difference. Things should change as soon as bitcoin is stable!

ETH is still an extremely good project, and it does look very under-priced right now. It's a great buying or DCA opportunity.

Fundamentally it is very strong, and we are just experiencing a temporary dip. It's a consequence I think of the young market, and the coupling of ETH price to ICO activity. This shouldn't always be the case, as ETH has the potential to be far more than just an ICO platform.

the total supply of eth is not limited so that inflation will continue to occur. inversely proportional to the very limited movement of bitcoin.
thus, eth prices will slow to move up, unless there is a whale investor whose funds flow into ethereum.

And since people already understand that this is the strategy of the big investors, what are they then doing about it ?
Instead of them to be picking the dips, they are always busy panicking and at the end when they have been scared out, and the big whales have bought the bottom, the pump starts and they start rushing in to join FOMO over again.

This is something I expect that everyone should have at least gotten to understand that this is something that is always bound to happen in the market and you should put yourself in the position of an investor by buying the dips and selling the peaks.

Most of the top markets right about now are actually moving sideways and certainly for the whole market overall, bitcoin sure do have a great part to play in it. We all know how the direction of bitcoin has always generally affected general market as a whole and the decision that bitcoin makes from the present triangle is what would determine the course that the whole market will get to take in the long run.

With bitcoin hitting to the uptrend side and consolidating for a while, we will see the altcoins having a space to breathe and grow pretty well and ETH will most definitely not be left behind.

It's happening to all coins not just eth

This is likely to cause inflation and have a huge impact on the value of ETH. I think the development team for this project needs to provide a reasonable supply and limit the number of ETHs to be dug in a day as this will help increase the value of ETH and be able to compete directly with Bitcoin.

Well, investing for the long term is always the thing that pays and one thing for now is that even though we do not know where the market is heading in the next few minutes, we certainly know there is future for it as well as some potential for investors to make a whole lot from holding in the long run.

However, we also have to keep in mind that this is a market, and no one can state categorically if we get to see Ethereum falling back lower or not as that depends on several factors and how the market ends up panning out generally, but for now, we can only keep our fingers crossed.

Ethereum have had a nice run to prominence in cryptocurrency trading market!  Ethereum however has different issues like the rest of the coins in cryptocurrency including Bitcoin.  Ether will recover soon when the market exit bear period!

In my opinion, ICO projects should use other currencies to convert into tokens, if we continue to use ETH to convert, perhaps the ETH will continue to decline in the future. So I think it's better to choose NEO or XRP to convert, and that will save ETH.

Ethereum price still good compared last few years ago. Even what happen to ethereum coin this year I will support it for more years still because in this year and next few years this coin is most coin who are best to invest your money.

I think Bitcoin influences the value of development. But if the current Ethereum price increases, then the longer the price increases. Why ethereum prices have dropped, because those who bought Ethereum 3-6 years ago, are selling their Ethereum first because they need money. Or they have to sell them for fear of losing their profits. As a result they are selling ethereum. Ethereum price is decreasing for this.

Ethereum value goes dip , it is the result and effect of unstable market that happening right now.
