Hi,
So I’ve invested a bit of money into altcoins about a year ago, and did a bit of trading but then slowly lost the track of it... Until today, where I found my ledger in my closet and decided to give it another look.
So here I am now looking at my coins , and thinking on what to do... Hold on? Sell?...
I’ve got:

I’m down about 60% of my investment.

Any advice is appreciated!

If you already lose, then maybe you can still take some risk for some months maybe there is also some hope for the next year. If you can still wait for the market to recover then hold all your coins still. As long as you have still more patience, wait for it to reocver. We all ever know when but hopefully next year can be a good year for cryptocurrencies.

I have lost more than 70% from my initial investment. But i never try to look at my portfolios. Just try to put more and more into my wallet. if you sold em all and you have no chance to recover your money. I will do long term. I will open my wallet again in a few years later and see what will be happening with it. If that will worth when there was a big bubble last year and i will be so happy with it.

Now is the time to invest, best suited this month, look all basically are at the bottom, just take now as much as you can and do not remember the old failures.

You have to keep hold it and will be bad idea to sell in this bearish market. Bearish trend is not forever and later will be change to bullish, if in the end of this year the market will not change to bullish, we have to wait untill next year. Never sell in loss and by keep patient to hold it, later you will get big reward for that.

You must do that, it's hard time for cryptocurrency market now, every coins dump to its lowest price, selling now is stupid and not recommended. We should hold because crypto is not dead, the bounce of crypto will be back very soon and your coins will give you extra money.

That will result to increase of BCH, but it's not what is happening, the entire market dump and now we are below the $200 billion total marketcap.

advice from me might be to sell your altcoin and start to switch investments with bitcoin..!!

That's right. My all altcoins are down. On a day by day, it all prices goes down. In 2017 December my portfolio's all tokens had a nice value. But at this time it was decreased to 80%. If your intention a year ago was to hold, then at least you should take small assurances that the long term outlook is still the same for crypto. Maybe for altcoins not so much especially utility tokens. Then again, you never know how the market reacts.

I don't think there is any need for panic because this massive drop has been the key word from the beginning of this year. It is all altcoins that is experiencing this drop, so your altcoins are not left out. Just hold your altcoins and they will increase in the next bull run

The only thing that will gonna happen to you when you sell your coins at this moment is to lose it. It is not the best time to sell, it is the best time to hodl, we should be patient in the bearish market and wait for its price to become profitable.

well for nearly as long as i have been on bitcointalk i have also been warning others not to bag hold altcoins aka invest long term and have portfolios! but nobody listens to the warnings so here you are losing money as the altcoins always go down in the long term making you lose what you have invested in them.

Do not worry, man. If your altcoin belongs to the good project, it will go up. I have bought my token at Jan 2018, and until now my money decreased 30 times from $12 to $0.4,  but I still buy and believe in this project. So be patient.

EDIT 3: I would advise trading a little and gain some confidence. Try trading and see if you can make even a 5% gain, but start with little amounts of your Altcoins and see if you can improve your position.

The whole market it bloody RED and the bears are gaining more grounds, being 60% down on your investment is now a norm. What You can do is trade, start with small amounts of your Altcoins, with the fluctuation of the market, you are bound to make some gains, 3% gain now is acceptable. when you feel you are comfortable trading, you can go in with a reasonable amount of your alts

Yes why not,if you have enough money to buy what altcoins do want.Its a big opportunity to us to buy low price because maybe by next year it can be recover and maybe also we are gaining profit by the future.

I don't think that it would be rational to sell now everything you have. When you sell - you loose your money. I will recommend you to hold your investments.

My advice is to keep hodling all your altcoins because this bearish market will keep on going for I think a few or several months more but hopefully we will have a good recovery starting January next year. So honestly speaking, this will lasts until the end of the year so hodl because you already started to hodl for long then try to keep it a few months more.

I have value loss over 60% if i compare to last year . I got nothing to lose will just keep holding till the point im happy to sell some . Took a look at my portfolio last night as I was busy with my day job all only to discover I'm down by over 60%. Went to bed to sad and almost depressed as I had plans for the money invested and had high hopes of recouping them to put into the purpose of the investment. If I were you I would think had two choices, my first choice would is sell every altcoin that I had in a state of loss and I gave it away, regretting it would only make me crazy. The second option is to let go of every loss that I experienced and remain a holder, I would think it's useless when deciding to sell because my money has decreased in large quantities. However, when I decided to become a holder, I had the opportunity to recover the losses I experienced.

Your first mistake. You should have invested in Bitcoin instead. Second is do you even know what coin you have invested in? then the last one is why did you bought at all time high? That's not how investing works. You are at a lost buddy. Sell it and buy Bitcoin instead.

The only thing you can do is to wait, because my portfolio also decreased by 80 percent from the beginning of this year and it is pretty sad. But if you sell, you will cut your loses and thats it. Be patient and wait for the bulls to come.

Well my opinion is that if you don't want to have loss further more its better to cut loss now rather than wait and making your loss bigger. Well it's just my opinion I don't panic sell but as far as the market is concerned I think it will take time before it will recover.

Were on the same boat bro's, this year is not about lambos its the year of creating value of projects. I don't hope for ETF's anymore since they are so centralized hype but mass adoption is better, maybe next year it will be better for crypto. Sounds like a right thing, to hear on TV bitcoin is 100k$ and you open your portfolio and go to Lambo dealership straight away. However, some issues with that. My advise to you would be not to sell, since you already lost 60%,you should continue to hold the coins and see what follows, cause there might be an increase soon. if you have a look on market trends , price of every coin is falling. Right now market is in bear phase. I have eth in my portfolio. I bought eth at $185 USD and now price of eth is below $ 150 USD ETH is most stable and reliable coin among all coins. You do not panic and just wait for the bullrun to manage your losses.

Sorry for your lost, mate. In general you shouldnt be holding any altcoins right now because you will get absolutely burned.

What you can do ( or should try to do ) is hold stable coins or fiat. This way you are positioning yourself in such a manner that you are hedging against BTC. This means that you will be able to purchase more BTC ( and more altcoins ) once the market sentiment changes.

For example if you cashed out at $6000 with 1 BTC and buy back when ( if ) the price hits $3000 you will have 2 BTC.

Personally I'd do a lot of research in each of those projects and decide if it's clever to average down on my investment. I did this quite a lot last few months. I know, the risk is getting higher but I bought much around ath so I felt I had no other choice since I didn't sell around break even in March/April. I didn't care back then, figuring it would come back up at some point, but never assuming some would go down over 90% since January. I decided to not sell at such a loss and wait it out. All or nothing kind of thing, I said goodbye to my investments a long time ago. Some projects I am keeping a close eye on I keep investing in...small portions to keep averaging down....so far I am satisfied with the stack I am building this way...but no one knows if it will go even lower...

Most if not all the holders are seriously losing now.  I think we should keep holding as those that really benefited from this market last year were those that keeps holding since inception.  I believe that time is very close when were are going to see another bullish trend again. 

This probably is not going to help you a lot but it will help you in your future investments, whenever you make an investment you need to keep track of it, you do not need to watch it every hour but at least try to see how your coins are doing once a week, if you do that you will avoid most losses.

Yes if people who had just invested a month back or around 5k range than their portfolio would be down. But do not have to worry much as this will be recovered quickly and might not take much time if bull run begins the amount could be recovered in a day or two itself and then it would profit booking.

Since you have hold that shitcoins for long time and i believe that it was only your spare money whos you have vested,then theres no wrong or lose if you can still wait for another years of waiting though i really hate shitcoins but i am sure that your spare money is only small amount and wont affect your life even if that coins died in future

Our money is not unlimited, we can buy little and if it drops we can buy again but our money will end and if we are not in dip we can drop 3-5 times more so right strategy is not just buy, you should buy from right prices.
