I would like to say that today in early December in 2018, it is a good start for a market that is returning to green. And it was the opening for a better crypto market situation in the past few weeks. Ethereum is still ranked third after XRP. It is not impossible if it will return to second place to reclaim its position. What do you think about this?

What I think of ripple/xrp ?
I get the same feeling as motion sickness... it make me nauseous.

my opinion may be that this month there will be a change. if many people still believe that the end of the year will be a bull run. they will start buying several altcoins on the market starting today. so I'm sure there will be positive changes in the market now

nothing seems to have changed this month. market Bear will continue. bitcoin will go down and so will the altcoin. the only thing that changes might be investors, they will slowly go away from the market.

Yeah I like this month, I hope that this month will give us more wealth and greener portfolio. Lets not lose hope and remember that anything can change and happen in a short period of time in crypto, hodler deserves a bullrun in this period.

We might see a better performing market in this new month, also the month that culminates the last part of the year. There might be higher market capitalization, prices might go higher, ethereum might remain at that third position, which invariably means that xrp will maintain the second position. The change might not be feasible at first, but with time, it will become more evident.

Maybe sometimes there are also those who say XRP / Ripple coins are centered, but that is what happened lately XRP succeeded in occupying the second position which has been occupied by ethereum. Sometimes I'm also confused about how this can happen. ???

Ethereum will very soon again take its second place in terms of capitalization.  XRP will be in third place at best next year, and maybe lower. This is just my analysis and my vision for the cryptocurrency market.

I'm not a big fan of Ripple. It's not a real crypto. But if you are looking the easiest way to earn money, you can buy xrp tokens. As for me, I use it if I need to make a fast transaction to another exchange.

Anything can happen at this moment because the current situation is very curious. I believe the value may go up in this month as Christmas is nearing, those who are holding coins just wait till the end of the month.

The market is going to remain sideways trend for the remaining days of this year.  I don't think we are going to see another surprise price movement in favour of bullish trend.  I believe that trading proper is going to commence next year and I will keep holding what I have.  I do remember that ethereum has been overtake by ripple but this is not the first time.

The difference on the cap value of ripple and ethereum is not too much so ethereum may claim its position at any time soon when the market gets greener but the real thing we need to watch out for is the price of bitcoin,only the prices of other coins will increase when we have bitcoin prices get going.

I do not see an increase in the cryptocurrency market yet. As long as the price of Bitcoin floats up and down, the market is still unstable. Now it is difficult to say what will happen to the price of cryptocurrency at the end of the year.

I am not surprised that Ripple is still number 2, while Ethereum is slowly dying, there are no news connected to Ethereum. Recently there was a test, Ripple was able to transfer a lot of money for very lowe fee - few cents in few seconds, thats why banks are interested in Ripple solution.

I think you are too focused on what's directly in front of you to make a good decision. 

You are seeing it as a horse race with winners and losers when in the current setup, it's impossible to say what will happen other than you can expect smashdowns when the price gets too uppity on one or another crypto.   So the only real way to win at this game currently is to do research until your heart is convinced, invest the money you can afford to lose, and forget about it for 5 years.

Trying to discuss price action in this market, with the players who are in currently in control, is like trying to find a black cat that doesn't exist in a dim room while not being able to see.

Until the breakthrough Dapp happens and the masses start pouring into crypto, the crypto scene as it currently is will continue until further notice (all the while govs and corps are working away furiously at their own creations.)

A lot is still hanging in the balance now, but it's great to see the market started the December in green, though not exactly a sign of anything yet. As for ETH, I think it has permanently ceded it's spot to in second place to XRP.

Market cryptocurrency shows high volatility again, as we know in recent days the price of bitcoin for intance shows a high decline in prices and also shows a high price increase, this is different from a few months ago which was stable at $ 6400- $ 6500. It's hard to see when the ETH market cap has a difference of $ 3 B with XRP even though it usually only has a difference of $ 1 B, I only predict that the increase in ETH to the second position will be difficult even though there is a price surge.

today coinmarketcap increasing, hopefully this is the beginning from the green on cryptocurrencies

In fact, what we see today does not mean that the market turned around and went into a bullish trend! This may be just a small correction on the overall downtrend. Be careful not to enter the market for the whole cutlet!

Well we do not know what is the best thing to do but this is a good time to watch and wait whenever it will continue or not the ethereum is not doing any significant so lets just wait for it to happen once again

Ethereum fell much more than other top cryptocurrencies. For that, I think that it has a lot more potential for the price increase. I'm not sure if it will happen in December, but I'm sure Ethereum will sooner or later return to the second position in Coinmarketcap.

Ripple cannot maintain that position for too long. I see it as a transient coin, because everyone knows it is not a cryptocurrency. So most people have only invested i to it, because of the profit they know they will get from it, but by the time it will fall, so many people will be caught unawares. What own the crypto space, are real cryptocurrencies and ethereum is one of them.

Yes, it is great to see Bitcoin bullish again. But don’t jump straight in first, I think we should monitor the market further to see whether this trend continue. Don’t worry, i strongly believe that ETH will return to 2nd place sooner or later.

For me rank position is not very important, even though etherum is in the 10th position if it can still provide big profits I will continue to support it. One thing you should know, XRP is no longer a cryptocurrency so you can't compare it to other altcoins.

ETH definitely will be back again to its position. But it doesn't matter right now, these positions are just indications on how much they have with their market capitalization. There are altcoins that are in the last place but is full of movement inside.

Ripple isn't decentralized and think of how much the team holds, you've to think twice if you want to stay with it. They can dump anytime those Xrp's they've got, they have a lot of supporters but if its market cap would remain higher than ETH then it will stay to #2.

First and foremost I want to wish everyone a very wonderful month full of bull run, first i think the market might still dip down a little bit before becoming stable again, we are approaching Christmas and many people will want to cash out.

I agree with the fact that Ripple is not a real cryptocurrency. Many people have invested in XRP due to the very large marketing campaign and banks' support. But can banks be trusted? I think that the price of Ripple will be in danger the price manipulation of banks and therefore it will not stay long in the second position in Coinmaketcap.

We will keep observing the market. Still its volatile market, and anytime prices will dump. Though last day bitcoin is doing good above $4,100, we hope that this price will continue to go upward. But there are still others who bought bitcoin at lower price that takes their profit even at a small margin,this pull  down the price to go upward. But slowly, we are getting there, hopefully.

Well, it doesn't matter for me if top 5 coins in a market have gaining its potential to increase its rank like XRP and ETH in the 2nd place. What i need is a stable price that be maintain whatever the market capitalist will dictates if ever the bullrun will start then we can say that this coin belongs to top promising coin next to bitcoin.

I agree that December is good start to invest on crypto. For XRP, I see that it is good for trading but not for long term investment. Though, the price beats the ethereum, ethereum will come back and beats XRP. Eth is just having a downfall and I believe that hodling it will be worth good later. It will stay long than XRP.

This month seems to start good and hopefully it will continue throughout the year and by early next year. Eth will claim it's postion soon.

At least we can see a new hope on this december, coin prices are seen increasing by a few percent. If the market price has risen again, I think it won't be long after that, ethereum will be the in second position on the marketcap. Hopefully this glimmer of hope does not disappear so quickly.

Your opinion is only the prediction of this cryptocurrency market in the next month. And I think the declining of ETH will end, and the market cap of ETH will rise and come back to the 2nd position on the market. So that in the next month, I think the market will recover, and the price is increasing, but not reach the peak.

There are high chances of it returning to its position depending on the devs of ETH I think if they can pick up and impress the public and provide much better smart contract to protect investors from scam and improve other key area the will make great move

December begins with all the prices of coins in the market returning green, hopefully in the future the green will continue and increase until the beginning of 2019.
in my opinion, Etherium still had a chance to be ranked second again and win the ranking from Ripple. we just need the next good development.

I very much hope for positive changes this month, but it is unlikely that these changes will be. It seems to me that the situation remains stable and will continue until next year. But I'm already starting to buy crypto.

All I can say is that recovery is quite impossible to happen before this year end. The market value of cryptos are not having a long term pattern of recovery. If there will be green marks such as at this moment, there is a huge tendency that red marks will again be on top of those marks. Do not be caught up with absurd expectations to avoid regrets and disappointments. Wait for recovery to be really observed by everyone.

Most of the top assets should perform well if Bitcoin can at least breakout and trend a little higher in the nearer term

I think Ethereum will be difficult to take XRP positions. Because many projects use the Ethereum platform (ERC-20)  and some projects are scam. Then makes Ethereum a bad image in the eyes of investors. If not handled by making good rules, maybe it can come out of the top 3.

Yeah I think when the market picks back up again that ETH should move back into 2nd. Out of the  top 10 I think it's the most undervalued vs its utility.

This increase I have felt before and it seems we will see an increase that continues until the end of the year and so on. But for the second position I still believe ethereum will take it back from XRP.

in my opinion, ethereum will eventually get back into second place someday. i think that as soon as there is good news for ethereum again, that is possible again. while ripple will remain strong, it certainly will not get that much support from the community to stay in second place.

The market is turning green and afterwards the bloods would come. If these greens is likely to stay until the end of this month/year then a healthy recovery is in the process. I think XRP has settled down on its second position on Coinmarketcap and Ethereum is left behind, total market capitalization of XRP is much bigger than Ethereum now, Ethereum has very few chances to take its second position again. there has been a lot of conversation about ETH whose position is currently occupied by XRP. Weakened ethereum seems to lose many investors who use it or vice versa. in this case many are disappointed with this position as developers must do something big at ethereum to attract investors back

In my opinion, Ethereum currently does not have a driver for growing. It has infinite inflation, so the miners sell new ETH coins as fast as they can. Unfortunately, the ICO campaigns are going slow during the current general bearish trend. People have a negative mood regarding the situation on crypto exchange markets.

Ripple is a "crypto currency" created by banks. Now the XRP capitalization is greater than the ETH capitalization by $2.5 billions. Moreover, I'm pretty sure that bankers will pump their "coin", therefore I don't think that Ethereum will be rated second again in the near future.

I think ethereum will be back in second place because there are a lot of major updates planned for 2019 that should affect its price.

I would really like to see the new growth of the market. I bought a decent amount of coins at the next price drop in the crypto market. I hope in a short time I can earn on them.

This month might mark the last time we would be seeing bear market. Very soon everything will be back to normal and what we will be looking at, is the bull run. Time is really running fast and before you know it, December would have ended. I am not looking at XRP that is now in second position, because i believe eth will take over when the time comes.

Yes, the December market started very well but that does not promise that the bull market will happen this year. For ETH I believe the team are the caused of ETH loosing the 2nd spot on capital market and they ought to have see things coming concerning the investors either because the community need urgent respond to ETH current problem but the team set a date for next year.

There is still no assurance if the crypto market will become better this december after some short price uptrend kast week. The price of bitcoin might continue to slide down after some price upticks until the first quarter of next year. This bitcoin downtrend will continue to drag the prices of almost all cryptocurrencies except for some coins like xrp abd xlm. I think Ethereum will only go up when its upgrade is fully implemented.

    There is no assurance that entire next year will become better in terms of price. Many people wait new rise, and most people want that to happen

It's not just the topic of ethereum and ripple, but the whole of the crypto should be noted in this regard. get in on the last month of this year with no signs of its good for all crypto. Bull run that many people expect doesn't have a presence. Perhaps this December will be far from a lot of people expect and need to be more patient in waiting.

December will be more calm than not probably. I know a lot of people are expecting a big rise in price for two main reasons but that won't happen. First of all people are expecting bitcoin to be going up because it went up last year and broke all records and made us all rich for a while and some of us even cashed out, that doesn't happen every December and I have said this before will say it again bitcoin doesn't repeat itself otherwise we would all follow yearly trends and become rich.

Secondly because NASDAQ will have its of ETF for bitcoin people think that will affect the price incredibly but I doubt it will have a quick reaction to it, market will get higher and bigger in volume over time and will be going up eventually but it won't be quickly, it will take some time. That is why December will probably be a calm and steady month.

When are just using these color indication as a way to decide if we are going to invest then you should look at other indications.

We have no choice but to put the hope for 2019 and the next years to come. The market has been too shaky for this year and there are very much frustration that we are getting from our co-community members (not only here in forum).

If you are tired of waiting when it has not been even a full year of waiting,,, then maybe crypto is not for you. Bitcoin needed to wait 8 years before getting 5 digit price figures,,, I do not think it will go into another bull market for a long time after spending so much energy to get there.

Just be patient and look back on history to see what the length of time was needed before. You did not think crypto was going to be easy did you?

During the year, the market turned red many times and I heard every time that this is the best time to buy crypto. In my opinion, now is really the most favorable time to create your crypto portfolio, perhaps this is the last opportunity to buy so profitable cryptocurrency before the start of a new bullrun.

I think its not difficult that ethereum will go back to second position.As a ethereum lover we are not losing hope that it continue raising until next year.

I have not doubts about Eth and its second positions (xrp is not a cryptocurrency) but I can't say anything about the green market

From what we have seen from the beginning of December, we can see a little different in price of ETH but I don't think ETH can take back it's second position with the margin xrp has ahead of ETH.

In my own opinion about this last quarter, i think everyone are not happy because they are expecting for a bullrun, and the sad thing is that it wont happen, maybe this is an opportunity for all of us to buy some good coins respectively, if we based on the market price, we have the opportunity to buy at the very lowest price, compared to previous months, so lets take this an opportunity.

Early december looks a little otimistic but I'm not sure about it. If we talking about Ripple and Ethereum competition,  I think ripple will stay top2 till Ethereum will realized Ethereum 2.0.

The present crypto market situation is quite unpredictable because of its unstable nature, Ethereum is not really showing positive signs of recovery, however surprises can happen within this last month of the year.

Indeed it's a good start and I think it will continue until next year when the Virie Market is already fully operational by January since it will not use any brokerage. It will be stable when the crowdfunding starts and there will be no competition from big players since the target audience is individual investors.

There’s no doubt for the current market cap of XRP, competition its very normal in this market but I know ETH will bounce back and end the 2018 with a higher price after this fall. :)

I think the crypto market will freeze in the flat until the end of this year. So far, there are no serious prerequisites for market growth. Growth will start if after the launch of BAKKT, Fidelity and trading on NASDAQ, a huge number of investors will believe in the Bitcoin and crypto market again and start investing massively. Ripple is likely to be ahead of the Ethereum in capitalization due to the fact that investors will treat it more favorably after XRP resisted during the November collapse.

Nothing has changed,  market is more depressed than it has ever been.  I have concluded that we may not see any significant increase in the price of cryptocurrency this year,  My attention is shifted to next year and I am taking the necessary position in quality coin!

Sometimes I also think so, but there is still hope that cryptocurrency will recover soon in December. Maybe many people expect the Bull market later this year. Hopefully ethereum gets a stable price and takes the second position which is currently occupied by XRP. I would think december will be without any big price movements and then on January we can see some big movements in price , because there will be Bakkt opening and maybe some more information about ETF approval and ofcourse Nasdaq futures launch dates =]

It has happened once, ethereum of course could return to second position where it use to be, ethereum was 3rd sometimes back and later overtook ripple that took it's place, with introduction of ETH 2.0 this could happen in the nearest future.

Who knows the future?  My best guess is that we trend sideways for a bit longer before things takeoff early next year.  Im not sure if XRP will take over the #1 spot in 2019 or 2020 but perhaps ETH will get its #2 spot back ahead of BTC in 2 years if/when ETH 2.0 is released.  Proof of work appears to be a dinosaur and I can't find any evidence of BTC pivoting into relevance.  Its slow and expensive and becoming more and more centralized every day.  I hold 3 tokens: XRP, NEO and FCT.  Don't be foolish and only look at price and market cap.  Those are distractions and worthless.  Look at fundamentals.  Who are this projects user base?  Who are they selling to?  What problems and at what scale are the solutions to these problems?  What is the revenue stream?  DO YOUR HOMEWORK PEOPLE!  XRP is a critical tool and can solve for a multi-trillion dollar set of problems.  Money moves across borders too slowly and with too much friction currently.  XRP is uniquely positioned to solve for this.  I'm buying more XRP and FCT and have less and less confidence in NEO.  Of course, I am not a trader and plan to hold them all for at least 5 years.  Good luck to all!

Ethereum will get a stable price IF bitcoin does have a stable price first. As I suspected ETH is likely to follow the step of bitcoin but now it doesn't show that way since most of them are on the fork of BCH which is stealing the show of bitcoin and look what happen to bitcoin and other altcoins now. Most of them are painted in red in the market.

Bitcoin will also come back but I don't expect it this December or 2019.

There is nothing on the crypto market at the moment, we are still going down and the small rise to 4k USD per Bitcoin does not mean that the bulls are back. When we will reach 9k USD within several days, the bulls will be back.

ETH will take the leading position for sure. He'll be in first or second place. I believe in ETH. Mobility, capitalization and popularity will not allow this cryptocurrency to fall low. Vitalik Buterin's team are professionals. They know their blockchain and are confident in it.

Actually after BTC people was in believe at ETH and maximum trade was in pairs with ETH to another tokens. As a result people stored their assets ETH after BTC as top volume sell and buy in market. But in dull market when people saw ETH and BTC price going down and down they tried to think another tokens for investment and i think thats why people choose XLM and XRP. This may be one of the main reason for up numbering of XRP and XLM.

Ethereum is a good cryptocurrency which have good volume on market but just like what last few months the price of bitcoin really goes down because of this condition it result to ranked down of ethereun in market. As of now the market start to going back to the normal and ethereum already return to its original rank.

XRP ranks second in crypto because it has been successful in sales, and I think this advantage will continue! Because the sales route of Ethereum is limited!

I do not see any signs of the most profitable quarter of the year. Just look at the market and you will recognise that we are going even deeper. Ethereum is around 100 USD once again and I do not think that we will recover till the end of the year.

This thread discusses for December last year, and Crypto is not in line with everyone's expectations. many predictions missed, and now the hope is starting to grow again when bitcoin pumps. we will wait for what happened in December this year. but don't expect too much.

I also like reading post from past prediction and I have read a lot of these predictions and all I can say that there are some missed and some predictions that turn out to be true, the best prediction that I hope that can happen is for the price of all top coins in the market to get another all-time high.

Last year December was when bitcoin was trying to breath some air in after all the cryptocurrency was hit by the bearish market. But today the story has now change. We can see bitcoin skyrocketing daily, followed by etherum and other altcoin are far way behind of the two(bitcoin and etherum). With this increase in price now, I think bitcoin will always be the king of all cryptocurrency

That happened in 2017, we can see so many new projects being successful, bringing investment with fresh money coming to the crypto market. pumps are everywhere. Many investors feel lucky. but the situation was different in December 2018, the market actually fell very deeply. with only a few improvements, but many projects failed. and now we will expect a lot for December this year. bitcoin has started and altcoin will follow next.

XRP just dropped a lot at the beginning of last month, I was really disappointed. As unlike other top altcoin, it increased 3-5 times since the beginning of this year. XRP only increased the highest at 60-70% when it reached 0.5 $ at the end of last month

After a very long and bloody battle, Ethereum managed to defeat it's Rival and maintain the second place in the cryptocurrency market for weeks in a row, I remember that period when it was bouncing between ripple and Ethereum but we haven't seen that for a long time now.

ethereum is still the best. we even waited for the pump this year to come. December this year, hopefully there will be a pump from ethereum which makes adoption of ethereum increase. now rivals from ethereum are BNB, with their BEP Chain, etheruem must pay attention to updates soon.

I am expecting that Ethereum will be soon competing with Binance Coin. I do not think that Ripple can be a rival of ETH. BNB - yes, it is the cryptocurrency that has come recently, but it has already made a kind of a revolution. Many crypto investors are ready to invest more in this token, and a lot of people that work with crypto has this alt in their portfolios.
