Hey guys,
I am quite interested in your opinion about Bitcoin losing its number one spot in the crypto world because I have recently thought about that myself. Do you think this will ever happen or do you rather think Bitcoin will always be the number one?

Which altcoins do you think have at least enough potential to take over the lead in order to become the new number one at some point in the future?
To find out I have listed the current top 20 coins and you are allowed to choose five of them. If you choose the option 20 "Another altcoin (already existing)" please let us know which altcoin you think about. Besides feel free to discuss, of course.

I don't think that it will ever happen. Bitcoin will remain as the king and it's bitcoin duh, the rest are altcoins and tokens that can't move if its not for bitcoin.

This will never happen. The main advantage of Bitcoin is that it is decentralized. All Altcoins are centralized and can be controlled and therefore they will never replace Bitcoin. I think that 95% of altcoins will die because they are rubbish and do not represent anything. Each project prints its money and it will end soon.

Ripple, stellar, cardano and monero is my personal choice of alts, which are really capable of much.

That's right and how long it won't be able to replace the position of bitcoin to become the king of crypto, because in terms of the price of altcoin and bitcoin it's still a long way off. so in the next 10 years, bitcoin will still be in its position as king

I think the position of Bitcoin will never be replaced by any coin, but even though that happens there are only two names that I think have the possibility, namely Ethereum or ripple.

I don't think any time soon in future any altcoin will dethrone BITCOIN from its no 1 position as bitcoin is digital gold and great store of value for money and adopted by everyone in the cryptoverse. Also the whole market takes rally with the price of bitcoin whether its uptrend or downtrend, Thats why bitcoin will remain king forever as altcoins depends on the price of bitcoin.

I'm also not sure Bitcoin will be defeated. altcoin was born from the history of bitcoin and the proof is when the price of bitcoin falls then the altcoin goes down and this is proof that bitcoin will still be number 1 in the coinmarketcap.

So far Bitcoin will remain number one and no one can replace it. Bitcoin already has high popularity and even large investors have chosen to invest in bitcoin, so I have little or no ability to shift it.

Aside from these, i think it is kinda hard to surpass Bitcoin marketcap

of course bitcoin will always be number one, no other cryptocurrencies can replace bitcoin because many people using it.

How can these coins would replace bitcoin? Are you sure that these altcoins can fairly overtake bitcoin? I'm thinking of it before but the closest one few years ago was Litecoin but we all know what happened to its boat so its not the closest one anymore.

And regards to these suggestions that can potentially overtake bitcoin, I don't have any choice for these coin. I have Ethereum but I still don't think that its old enough and worthy to overtake bitcoin, well why we have been thinking about this?

No other coin can match what bitcoin has already accomplish in crypto world.  Bitcoin will still the number one  crypto .

For the next 10 years I still find bitcoin as the top coin at the coinmarketcap and those altcoins that we have are still far to dethrone bitcoin as the king of cryptocurrency. I'm taking into consideration that when bitcoin fall it's price, all those altcoins are affected which is enough proof that they all controlled by bitcoin movement. 

What nobody seems to understand is that the token which will rise to the top is off the radar screen right now.

BTC groupies can say that it will always be the #1 crypto, but just saying it doesn't make it so. You will find that out in time.

And that would include Bitcoin.

No coin will take Bitcoins place in next 5 or 10 years. And by saying take Bitcoins place is to be most used and usefull coin. Not that its marketcap will be higher or whatever. Coin that will take huge part of Bitcoin transactions will be Monero. Because of its private ledger technology.

It is possible that not the currency listed in that poll, but in some time a better Bitcoin (Super Extra Bitcoin ;) ) may be created and may be a better solution. Then it is possible that he will take over the crown.

For the next 5 years, I don't think that bitcoin will be replaced. Bitcoin was born and altcoin can also be born, so new bitcoin is growing so old that its popularity is still high, so I have no idea about substituting bitcoin. Altcoin number one is bitcoin. Of course everyone will have the same answer, namely bitcoin. Bitcoin has a very expensive price compared to other altcoins. Bitcoin if in the right hand, can generate huge profits, and vice versa. Already millions of people use bitcoin.

As much i know their is no other altcoin which can take over bitcoin, even with good projects and prospectus i dont think that they can replace bitcoin. The main reason is that Bitcoin itself is used as currency and it dont need any projects to support for it success as other projects are valued on Bitcoin and market move according to bitcoin price.

Very few users vote, I thought that this poll will be more popular. Although the answers are very diverse, it seems that Ethereum is on the lead. And in my opinion that's how the vote will end. ETH is a good choice.

there is no one around me who could see on what altcoin I voted, but believe me; I can't dare to do it even if my curiusity forces me to vote at random just to see the result but I'm loyal to King BTC, I wouldn't let anyone else take the throne.

It is either Ethereum after ICO-s dump their share, they move to PoS, most of the volume disappears due to staking and interest explodes.
OR Bitcoin Cash being fake-pumped by Jihan during a positive announcement for massive adoption.
OR BSV fake-pumped by Calvin Ayre just to show off - which would last around 10 minutes

• I think BCH is a legitimate contender but the lack of brand recognition makes it next to impossible to become #1.
• Ether has amazing fundamentals but ICO-s dumping it would prevent a flippening there as well.
• Ripple might get shilled by banks, but it will never have common support that would be enough to flip BTC.
• EOS is not decentralized and it's already overpriced.
• ADA uses a programming language that no-one is ever going to use.
• Monero is way too heavy and user-unfriendly, and very few actually care about anonymity.

So while I can see BTC losing market share, I think it will still be #1 for a long time.

I don't think any alts can replace bitcoin. Some may claim defeating btc on the top but they still needs more work to do it. Ethereum and xrp may defeat each other on the 2nd but they will only stay there. But who knows what will happen on the cryptocurrency world.

why people still predict if anothers cryptocurrencies will replacing bitcoin in the future ?
i think thats really bad predictions,, because bitcoin will stay as the number one cryptocurrencies now or in the future my friend ;)

XRP, ETH, BCSV, EOS and ADA is my choice for the 5 best cryptocurrencies in the next year 2019. But I think the Bitcoin will be the best cryptos in the market so that I think you should add to this list. And the next year 2019, a lot of new things will happen and make the market recover soon!

What do you think of Bitcoin Cash? I heard it is more useful as a currency.

nothing is profitable here, because in the media there was already news that some team was trying to artificially provoke the growth of the Bitcoin cashe. Based on this, I cannot believe in the prospects of an artificially bloated project.

Yes, I agree with what my senior said above that Bitcoin will remain ranked number one because bitcoin is an altcoin pioneer of all altcoins and many investors like bitcoin because bitcoin can be trusted.

I think Bitcoin's cash is very good, first because its technology is very advanced, and secondly Bitcoin cash has a very strong team to support its operations.

I never imagine bitcoin to be replaced on the number one spot since it will always be the king and will be considered as valuable than gold. No one knows right? Ethereum had been replaced already by ripple which most of us dont agree with that. I gave my vote to ethereum since it has all the potential to replace bitcoin among those altcoins you provided. Nice poll and interesting results. I doubt that any coin can overtake BTC but the one coming the closest to BTC is ETH in my opinion. Last year, ETH came very close to BTC but BTC always remained first place of all cryptocurrencies.

At fist I thought about voting Tether, because if BTC keeps decreasing in price it will be a possible result, but it's unlikely af, BTC would have to go to 150$.  :D

All altcoins are dependent on bitcoin, so bitcoin will always be number 1. But to approach it in my opinion will be able to coins such as Ethereum, NEO, Ripple, EOS. But they are just altcoins that will not come out of the power of bitcoin for a long time.

No coin that has intrinsic value can be influenced by bitcoin. The price of any coin with real value should be priced according to the value behind it. 

Only coins that have no value backing them can be influenced that way.

Bitcoin remains number one and other altcoins will have an effect on bitcoin, so for that do not undermine bitcoin. For altcoin, ethereum still occupies its position, as a platform favored by the project it will continue to fly to get its identity. Eth has good power to continue to hold the platform on the project.

I always choose XRP. it is simply a real business and it does not need to live on the money of investors or whales.

from what you mentioned, maybe the cryptocurrency which has the potential to be very expensive is XRP, Ethereum, EOS, NEO and binance coin, now I only give those predictions that can provide a lot of benefits.

Many times in the past it was predicted and it was expected that there will be another coin which will come and will replace Bitcoin but it not happened in the past few years from the start of the Bitcoin and with the development and adoption of Bitcoin by institutions we are sure that Bitcoin will always be number one.

To be honest I am a little suprised that so many of you think Bitcoin will always be the number one.
However I have added a new option for you to choose that you don't believe that any altcoin can ever take over the lead, so feel free to take part in the poll if you have't done that yet.

I personally think that Bitcoin will have a hard time to stay the number one when cryptos will be adopted for more and more real world applications. For sure Bitcoin is likely to stay in the top 5, but when it comes to mass adoption and to real alternatives for paying without cash in a super market for example, I don't see Bitcoin succeed. But let's see.

Do you guys believe that every altcoin that is made is just base on the image of bitcoin? If yes, then there is no way that another altcoin will ever surpass bitcoin. If no, then I think the cryptocurrency always next to bitcoin is the Ethereum or XRP.

Bitcoin will always be the number one as a decentralised currency. Also most other coins have a company behind them so they are a big NO to become number 1. Even coins like XRP will become obsolete.

When we get SDR as a digital currency and have SDR wallets on our phones the IMF will blow those ripple farts away forever.

Bitcoin is still number one and according to my votes, my second choice was altcoins not existing yet to overtake bitcoin because I don't see that happening yet, not soon though. Ethereum is a strong and potential coin but can't overtake bitcoin. Nevertheless all the coins on that table are potential ones.

Prediction about future is very hard. Still bitcoin has a lot of popularity and much potential. Many users are joining with bitcoin daily. It is the king of crypto currency. Most of the altcoins are depending on it. So, I think bitcoin will not be replaced by other coins.

Indeed, many coins are ambitious to replace Bitcoin, but the popularity of Bitcoin is more prominent so to replace it requires a struggle and a long time. I think there are so many coins that want to shake bitcoin but it's not as easy as we think.

XRP will take the number one spot in Q1-Q2 2019 no problem. Wait until the banks start using xRapid and Ripple completely wipes out SWIFT.

It's not surprising to see Ethereum is the leader so far because it definitely has enough potential to eventually match it adoption wise but may not supersede it in the near term as the market is still dominated by Bitcoin and that won't change for a while although it's likely to have a big year in 2019

I do not see the coin that could replace bitcoin at the moment.  For a new coin to replace bitcoin,  such coin will be fully decentralized,  have better utility and have market cap beyond bitcoin!

As of now, there are no indications of another altcoin that gonna took over bitcoin. So I think bitcoin will always be number 1 and will rule the prices of other coins in a way that if it goes down, the altcoins will go down as well. But other altcoins also have the potential of stealing the number 1 spot from bitcoin and the best example is the Ethereum.

I voted for bitcoin will always be the number one coin, there are several good coins out there that are worth your investment if that is what you're looking for, but when it comes to surpassing bitcoin I really do not see any coin doing it because of the huge head start that bitcoin has over all coins, bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency created by a person that has become a legend and most developers have chosen to copy bitcoin instead of going in a new direction and you can never surpass the original by being a copy of it.

Ripple is not a crypto currency. It is an database token.  Ethereum ICO hype will pass in 2019. In 2020 it will have just bad news.

Bitcoin will be always number 1, as there is no such a founder there and it was developed first. It will stay the first, as have way more interested people in that technology than others.

I agree, bitcoin will not be replaced in number one, all crypto refers to current bitcoin. bitcoin is the king of crypto. for those of you who have bitcoin hold on, don't sell now because it will be a very valuable asset in the future.

It is difficult to guess which of the altcoins will be the leader in the future. We can only guess. I see that TRON and Cardano have been developing very fast as well as NEM and EOS.

Other coin that you metioned is potential too but only top 5 that you mentioned that you given and the other is not potential I think but better to have more coins now because this year everything is good and it will increase again most of the coins.

As it stands now, one can't really say if any altcoin can topple Bitcoin in the long run. For now, it's very evident that Bitcoin eill continue yo remain at the top of the cryptocurrency table. All these projects mentioned might come up but not to overthrow Bitcoin in any way.

For XRP, it is possible that only a coin is equal, no breakthrough has been able to give it looks stronger, investors have adopted it because they feel safe in partnering with a bank that may have little risk.

Yes, Ethereum has been labeled always next to bitcoin. I'm not a fan of XRP and what I read with it and they are boasting about the Xrapid which they believed will make the price higher and adoption increase through banks.

About the replacement of XRP for bitcoin, I don't usually say anything with that. It's like a dream that will never come true although regulations do really come and I'll stay with decentralization not with centralization.

for me the most potential coin is Neo. I invest the most in it. I think this is an active asset for long term

It may happen but until now there is no crypto were created which can beat the bitcoin so it will be at number one for more longer time.
There is some coins were available with much faster transaction and less fee when compared to bitcoin but the trust is heavily on bitcoin that others so if a coins want to create more hype than nitcoin then it need to be recognized more.

in order to be number one people should pick one currency that they think would be number one. I don't think anyone can deny that bitcoin will continue to be number one but other than that I think eth has good following and support but its shaky.

For now bitcoin is number one and it seems that for next few years btc will still dominate the market and continue to be at number 1. We might require some exceptional coin which have some of the unthinkable features to that coin which can boost the demand in the market and thus can come near or overtake the price of the btc.

Among the coins listed, probably ether and ripple have the closest support community to btc. Though i'm not saying it's close at all but comparing the other alts, these two would likely be battling for the number 2 spot. Of course btc will be the top coin for a long time.
