This is really just so that people know what to expect when syncing the blockchain. It can take a while if you've not done it before, but if you're just catching up, it's not bad.

i've added two features that could be very useful, here we go with screenshots:

I've totally remade the floating windows, now it's a real minimap (stretchable) that show the whole map and don't cause performance loss
you can't pan it or zoom in/out because it always show the whole map and you can double click in it to center the main map
In future days I'll add to it other features like heat maps (player concentration shown by color where density change color intensity), own troop localization, and so on (you can suggest what you'd like there)
One of the nice feature i've added, is a resize of the coin shown, based on the amount (in testnet, center map has cell with 1000+ coins so that's why you see those big ones, on main blockchain i suppose you'll see a so big coin only over crown cell)
coins are drawn not only if mineable but even if held by hunters (maybe i'll add 2 different toggable button, to show just lootable coins)

I've added an indicator that show easily how many hunter (and which color) there are in a cell
every colour has his indicator in it's own corner, yellow = tol left, red = top right, green= bottom right, blue = bottom left (same as spawn zone location)

those 2 screens have been taken in testnet but now i'll try to sync main blockchain and shot one with real data

MithrilMan, you can do protect against bots?

Right now, i've a toolbelt of features that help having a clue about what's happening around you, so you can see enemy paths with block range indicator, or user radar to spot enemy hidden near you, etc...
this could help for sure but there is not an automatic mode to move away your hunters, that will be done, togheter with something to program your bot, in future releases, maybe as premium feature, i don't know yet

how to test the client? In the game I spend 10 hours or more

huntercoind.exe RPC has some problem, i'm waiting till they are fixed and then release the tech demo
if i release it now, likely there will be many complaints about gaming stop updating, that's because daemon become unresponsive
daemon is something i don't develop, it's the official one, so i have to wait huntercoin dev fix it, i'll keep you updated here

as a note:
actually i'm waiting name_list fix (name_list return the list of the wallet Players, so it's vital)
meanwhile, since calling it may cause huntercoind stop woriking (thus updating this client AND downloading blocks) i ask name_list just once so if i release tech demo with this constraint, if you run my cliend side by side (on a virtual machine) with the original wallet to move,destroy,create) you won't see the "PlayerInfo Window" updated correctly

added two more visual icons on hunters:

start (center-right of the cell) : means that on that cell there is at least one general
blue badge with left arrow (center-left of the cell): means that on that cell there is at least one hunter that is moving


this weekend i'd like to release this readonly test demo! (if name_list didn't get fixed, there will be some problems about having an updated list of own players in the "my troop" window)

I've installed prerequisites, my client and run without problem on a windows 8 Pro, but i was behind blinded firewall and couldn't test blockchain download, but the game started fine

please give me more info about what's going on your pc

try to "Run as administrator" and be sure your firewall didn't block used port (look RPC Address in the settings)
first time you run, windows should ask if you allow the program to use that port, if you misclicked you can find that settings in your firewall settings

here you can see Pie Menu in action, with improved visibility features
you can toggle almost any visible information, and if you hide all hunters color, it doesn't affect your hunters, so could be useful to know where our troops are located

and it's followed by the client update!

• Added close confirm dialog, preventing unwanted exit
• Added Pie Menu (right click on the map to see) that will be used a lot, at this stage i've added some shortcut and a nice Eye that open another menu where you can toggle many visibility

• Added translucent selection, if you click over a tree and something is behind, you can see through

MithrilMan, when it is possible to wait for a working client? and it seems to me that the release is already very long.

regard to functional client, it is very lacking illumination their hunters! It was also nice if it was possible to enable or disable the workers hunters.

When you click on ozitnika nick in the list, it is marked on the map is very small square, which is very slightly noticeable. It would be nice if desired ohtnik increased on the map.

well, i'm putting already a lot of effort on this client and i've no fund to speed up things

the size of the arrow is constant so even if you zoom out the map, it will be clearly visible

Implemented progressive path composition!!

using pie menu or clicking CTRL+Mouse Right Click, you can build a composite path, this will allow you to set cumulative destination in one transaction (e.g. you can send your hunter at spawn and back, in a single transaction)


(this is a full featured client features and will be available, with all other full stuffs, to members of the closed beta that will be announced soon)

and I think it's better that the arrows fell at increased zoom map

MithrilMan, Tomorrow I'm going to create a few thousand generals to destroy bots and restore balance in the game. I would have helped al working client is willing to sacrifice some amount of HUC. If you agree to help me, you can send me your terms in private messages. Simple to manage several thousand generals, standard client is extremely difficult.

I've implemented a very simply miniwallet inside the game, atm it can be used to send HUCs to an address and to see transactions with less then 20160 confirmations (means approx 1 week)
it doesn't want to replace the official wallet, but at least it can be used to send hucs and check how transactions are going
It's not yet possible to delete/re-broadcast, i'm talking with devs to see if it can be implemented as RPC command

soon i'll post details to adhere to the closed beta, so who'll accept will have all this stuffs (full client) to test and play
I've to say that during last week, i've tested it and i found it very funny to play because of all the stuffs added here, it's really possible to fight out bots with all those insights that this client has

I want to share some news and thought about my Huntercoin: Mithril Edition client

In few days i should be able to publish my playable client (it's a beta, but full playable).
I've though a lot about how to release it and I ended up with a client that could be extended with future upgrades and not only client side but even server side (I kept an eye for centralized future solution and other things i've in mind that would be very nice)

I'm telling this because i had to introduce two things:
- Account
- Fee

Account is needed to play the game, when snailbrain will release centralized version of the cryptogame, it could be merged/shared with official account system, meanwhile (don't know about snailbrain ETA), I'll use it for some ideas i have:

bot market:
I've a plan about implementing a BOT interface into the game, that will allow players to code their bots and command them and share their creation with others players, using a market system (bot code uploaded to a server and then sold

social:
using my account system, i would be able to implement an offchain chat where people could send message to other players, private messages too, having a buddy list, etc...

bounties: e.g. someone could ask for help performing an action, and could put a bounty for that and people interested could join the action and get a share of the bounty

ladder system: to actract players, a ladder system could be funny: (e.g. the user with most kills, death, loot, hearts collected, etc...) (not based on player in game, but grouped on account, just for fun

(some of this features will be available only after the centralized system come out)


Fee
crypto world is about currency, people want to have a chance to gain something with that, me too.
while other invest, trade, etc..., i focused on creating a service that could give value to the coin
this mean i didn't played at all this game (except 1st week) because i'm coding, testing, releasing, explaining my client, so the only income i could have is with a fee system, after all this client could help a lot and this would give you chance to gain more HUCs (and save some, since with multiwaypoint feature you could save tx)
It's hard to implement a charge system out of the blockchain, so i tried something and i'll explain how the client works and behave when i'll release it.
At the moment, i've implemented a daily based fee: with 2 hucs you have access to the client for 24 hours, in a simple way
this value could change before release and will change in time, based on interest/usage, anyway with current huc value compared to $, it's really cheap (less then 0.2$) but i don't want to talk about fiat currency
after testing this fee system, if i found it works fine, i'll setup a weekly and monthly plan too to save even more hucs

fee collected will be used to implement ideas mentioned above (and new one, you are free to suggest new ideas!)


Sorry for the long post, but i've invested so much time on this coin because i believe in the idea behind it, that I'll do my best to enhance the cryptogame experience and i need the support of the community to go on along this way

Maybe consider a 1% or a few % fee rather than the flat 2HUC.  That way anyone at least has a shot and you'd probably earn more in the long term A: Coin wise and B: Community wise :D

it's technically impossible to gather a % over a reward (e.g. a player could set as reward an address outside wallet), a plain fee is more practical, btw the fee itself will change during time, maybe it will change even in the way it's applied (e.g. i could charge something every xx moves)

this is a decentralized version, so all it's difficult to manage
when it will be centralized, things will change

at first i wanted to set something like 25 huc/month but there are details that leaded me to set it as a daily fee
probably will be 1HUC at launch and not 2

much depend about interest on the client and the game itself

now I need to fix some detail before release

For few days there will be no fee applied (thanks BayAreaCoins for his donation), so rush to get it now and report anything (features request or bugs or whatever!)

there are a lot of features and some are a little bit "hidden", I'd need to write down a guide but i'd prefer to spend time coding next features like bot programming and bot protection, so feel free to collaborate doing videos or "how to" for the community, huntercoin need help from everybody!

meanwhile i just want to state here some shortcuts (very handy).


CTRL+ H: hide all the interface (useful to see what happen behind floating windows)

Holding CTRL while having your own hunter selected and right clicking on a walkable tile, will add a waypoint to that destination, this way you can build up a complex path!!!
(Holding SHIFT + right mouse click compute a straight path instead)

if you want to track down an enemy path even when he moves, select him and click "Show Directions" on Target window (it's toggable so you can switch that setting)
(read the getting started guide on my site to have some help)

there is a lot to talk about but now i really don't have the strength to do so, need to sleep :)

if you have connection problem try again, and be sure that you can reach www.mithrilman.com because the server is the same
things i noticed is that sometimes the server kill the appdomain and start again, so it could take some seconds to restore, but if you retry should work

i can't see if it's a password problem because i store them as hash, so be sure you write that right, because is case sensitive

mmm, i have to add some info to the client log
it's not important to be logged on the website, the game authentication is done in another way, but it shouldn't hang like it's happening to you

i'll add some server side log info and maybe update the client too, to catch some problems

meanwhile, in the directory where you have installed the game, you should find a debug.log file, can you send it to me?

It seems to affect random people because it involve encryption stuff when sending authentication token to the server, for a reason i've to understand it fail with some arguments

now the problem is Solved!
Download again the client, it has been updated, now short login should work and in case of error you should see it and not being stucked without info

just an update about my progress with the client

I want to introduce a big change: a new game interface
previous one had many drawbacks:
- very bad support for localization (no keyboard except english one, no support for extended chars like chinese, etc..)
- hard to implement complex controls like grids, etc...
- too much effort to create a simple window

during those days i tracked down my client usage.
there is a core group of player that keep using it but the ovarall count is low, too few players.
i tought about what could i do to spread the client around and i tought that lack of localization could be a cause (even if i think that the main one is that many players leaved this coin atm, but i'll be ready when they'll come back after pruning and disaster comes out, and blockchain size will not be an issue anymore)

this is why... i'm implementing a totally new interface, that will keep me busy for a while but will pay off, here just 2 screenshot about my new ingame wallet i've partially already done

i succeeded at implementing complex web interface into my client, and this is just the begin, i'm planning to port all the GUI using this new technique

as i said, it will take a while (well, not too much since i already spent a lot trying to figure out how to do the core stuffs, so now i should go smoothly)

this is a needed step even thinking about the next big step: bot implementation and army commanding inside the client.
I said needed, because those features will require an advanced GUI and now i know how to obtain that.

P.S.
in few days I'll activate the fee system, i need to try it out and the fee will be low, 1 HUC/day
i hope more players will use the client as long as i keep spending time, money and passion doing this and i hope community apprecciate the effort

I'd like to have a feedback about guilds like the chinese one, i think that i can add useful features to people who works in team and i'd like to have requests and feedback

here you can see what I've done at the moment:
- a new Mini Wallet, with a clean and nice interface, that show easily the current transations statuses and get updated every new game_state (so every new block).
- a new Cell Info window, much better then previous one (not yet finished, need context menu actions and other things like maybe a "search" feature

both are 80% completed
after that 2 windows, I'll implement a new Chat panel, so i can show everything (hopefully) included chinese text, etc...

then the "my troops", "statistics"(easy) , login screen and the "mini map" (the trickier) to finish the "porting"
then... i'll dive into army and bot programming interface, will be exciting!

meanwhile I inivite you to download and use current version of Huntercoin: Mithril Edition, look what i've done few minutes ago thanks to intelligence client gives

it has been already tested some, it's not 100% finished (need to fix some small issue) but it's almost done

if testers and whoever wants to try it out gives positive feedbacks i'll release officially and I'll start to work on bot management & design system



interface on your left side, can be arranged (try clicking the lock icon to understand how it works, when they are "locked" they follow the width of the draggable split line, when they are unlocked they can be placed anyway on the window)

doubleclicking a window maximize it (not very useful i think but i've done it and could be useful for future bot interface)

to toggle the map visibility press CTRL + M

there are much more things to tell you, but i'm short of time now, have to go, I'll write more info later

I'd be glad to know your opinions about the client, what you'd change, what you like, new features, etc...

It's reccomended that you update to 1.0.11 huntercoin version before launching the client, or at least backup all before do that. first huntercoin launch will be very slow


P.S.
there are some bugs i'm aware and i'm working on
e.g. if you minimize window and then reopen, you'll see the interface didn't show up, you can just click on the game window and it should appear again (or resize the window)

hey I've just updated new version of the beta of my client, it's almost done, respect last one i fixed some issue and added some stuff

how you can see here, I've implemented the chat, not just as readonly as before, but now you can type a message over your hunters list in "My Troops" window and when you'll move some of your hunter, that text will be send on behalf of that player
you can even send just a message without planning other actions on hunters of that player of course

Other thing added is the previous feature i wrote about (context menu to open a dialog that show who share the same reward address of a selected hunter)

Next thing, i fixed the displayed block time needed to reach a point, in the hunters list of your troops, but then i went beyond and implemented the same feature over the targeted hunters in "Target" window, you can see that in the pic (the number between brackets) next to the "moving icon"
