Few questions :

Players split the pot of the Cloud they LOSE on, winners move on to next stage.

What if a single player manages to stay high enough? For example by the time we reach the 6th week, only one managed to make it, shouldnt he win the pool every time he wins? Or will it go unclaimed?

Players start on Cloud 1 and each successful prediction will move them up.

Does this mean any player can re-start from Cloud 1 once they get disqualified if there are still more weeks ahead? They wont be able to reach the max prize but they are allowed to play again right?

What format will the games be? Do we need to predict the score or just the winner? :D Because one of these two is downright impossible.

Honestly I hadn't thought about this, so thanks for bringing it up! I think the best way to do it is if there's one player left, and they manage to keep advancing, then they will receive all of the pot for the Cloud they finish on. Any funds that go unclaimed will be used for a raffle or added to next month's competition prize pool.

I'm open to suggestions though :)

I might play with the format for future competitions (adding buybacks?), but I wanted to trial this as a take on the 'last man standing' predictor competitions I've seen in other places.



Unless we get high up the ladder with a large number of people still in, I'll likely stick to a simple Win/loss format to keep it simple (or win/loss/draw for relevant spots like soccer)



Correct! My advice would be to save it for a week that you are completely unsure of the result, like a match with very close odds or a sport you aren't too familiar with.

I have a few questions, are these prizes only available after 9 weeks and does this mean if i make it to cloud 2 or any other cloud and and fail to progress...a safety bet will allow me to start off from where i left?

And what happens if i make it to cloud three and stop playing still the end of the competition will i be among the players claiming this pot??

and lastly all who fail to progress from cloud 1 automatically qualify for the shared prize? IF this is the case isnt 250 spins a little shy as the probability for people to be knocked out in their first try is high ::)

The prizes will be paid out after each week. You get paid from the pot you fail to progress from.


If you stop playing you will 'lose' on the week you don't make a prediction, and will be paid out from that week's prize pot.

If you fail to progress from Cloud 1 you will split that pool of free spins.

I did have some trouble balancing the prize pools for the different stages so it's definitely up for debate, but i'm hoping that we see more people dropping out near the top, rather than on the first level.

I agree with user above that it's better not accept Newbies, or put minimal activity requirement. Now there are few users with just 1 post in this thread - it's obvious that they are trying t abuse competition.

@KingZee & @LTU_btc - It's a very valid point. Problem is i'm promoting this on Twitter as well and I recognise some of the usernames that have come from there, so it's hard to tell who are legit newbies and who are the alts.

I don't want to change the T&Cs on the fly as it seems a bit crappy after the competition has launched, but I'll factor this in to my next competition plans - maybe it's time to run something unique to reward our older Cloudbet players and BitcoinTalk friends specifically.

Don't have a clue about "real" Leyton Orient but it was my most successful Championship Manager job in the history. A long time ago, when I was an CM addict (and had free time) Leyton was the team that finally cured me :) I managed to bring them all the way to Premiership and win two consecutive Champions Leagues with them. After that the game just didn't have any challenges left.

And tomorrow I will write a 3 pages essay on "Why is Ronnie so awesome?" I propose that you make it part of the rules and demand everyone to quote parts of it whenever entering Cloudbet contests.

Sorry on the off topic, especially to those of you who weren't part of Championship Manager clique. The game later changed name to Football Manager, but it was still CM when I was loosing days and nights in it.

Hmm, I can understand how confusing it would be, maybe a rule like :

Because I personally think this opens up room for abuse, one person would only need about 6 accounts to make it into cloud 3 with one of them. But I know it's a hard job to filter them, soo.. your competition your rules :D

@Trofo - I can only dream of that kind of success for Orient, I'll just be happy if we can make it back into the football league this season! I used to love Champ Man, I'm running a Orient team on the 17/18 version of Football manager but I'm stuck in league one at the moment. I'll have to hit you up for some tips  ;)

Your suggestion could be a good idea for future comps, perhaps something like "Requires a BCT account over 7 days old OR post your first message with a link to a valid twitter account". I'll have a think about it and get back to you!

Leyton Orient was MY team all those years ago too, playing on manager (I unfortunately played the defunct FIFA Manager) too but this was way, way long ago... before 2008 anyway! Maybe this will whip up Cloudbet to do something with cheaters or update rules for this or next competition. About contest not being fair - lets wait for winners of other Cloudbet competitions to write a proof here you can ask them personally if they received the prize. Otherwise this prediction competitions looks good so far...

Problem is that second post in this thread, the one with terms for this competition, says nothing about multi account joining being forbidden. Yes its not particularly nice nor especially fair but obviously allowed. Allowed not because OP is somewhat corrupt but he has had simply omitted, overlooked, failed to predict that people will get abusive. You just have to deal with it as changing the rules while in progress would be even worse.

The major's almost done! The quarterfinals are being played next week, and the semifinals & finals on 2nd/3rd march.

The qualifiers were really fun to watch, Ence and Renegades were underdogs that made it to the quarterfinals in their first time they made it out of the minors! And we have long-time legends like Fnatic and Cloud9 that got disqualified, it was hilarious seeing the live odds for most of the games go all over the place as the teams that are favourite to win end up getting sweeped.

I'm cheering for the underdogs in these quarterfinals even though Astralis's looking as good as ever, so they'll probably win this major again, I recommend you try giving it a watch, maybe we'll hit 1 million+ live viewers again and break Twitch records for the second time.

Nice! Maybe if we reintroduce eSports I can get you to write some blogs for us?  ;D

I usually go for the underdogs and have been following Ence on CS:GO for a while, but I still have a soft spot for Fnatic as I've worked with them in the past and used to walk by the Fnatic 'bunker' on my way to work.

These days I stay more up to date with Rainbow 6, Overwatch, and LoL when it comes to live eSports, but still watch the major tourneys for CS:GO, Dota, Smite, TF2, etc when I have time (and Leyton Orient aren't playing of course!)  ;)

I can't say I'm up to date with R6 and Overwatch, but I was an avid LoL fan (and player) a few years ago. I used to watch LoL A LOT, and it seems that just recently SKT T1's reign over the championship has finally ended, and there's more room for competition. But CS:GO definitely is more enjoyable to watch purely of how both games are played, in CS there's much more room for an upset, mainly because of that individual skill factor, you see players pull off insane 1vs4s or 1vs5s, and it just looks so good when they make it. For league of legends, the game doesn't always allow that, and for the last 2 years the gameplay has been headed more towards the macro rather than micro actions, outplays, and so on. That's why I stopped playing it, but I still watch major championships like you.

I can understand being a Fnatic fan :D Everyone has to pick a side for the EU vs NA meme, but their performance in this major has been pretty depressing compared to their achievements last majors, maybe they can pick it up the next year. As for ENCE you can always cheer for them in 2 days, if they make it out of quarter-finals it'll be one hell of a run for them.

I'm still not sure about this fight, JDS is on a hot streak and fighting for a potential title shot (or maybe a go at Ngannou at the very least) but I just can't bet against Lewis when it comes to stopping power alone. JDS is definitely more technical with a strong jab game, but if Lewis can bring him to ground then it could be all over quickly.

If I had to put a bet on it would be JDS on points, probably from poking Lewis with jabs and wearing him down over time. One hit from the beast could end that though.

As I understand, you will go futher untill one of you loses on prediction. Now you are competing for 0.079BTC. If it will be a draw, you will split the prize and the competition will be finished. I guess, with all the left prizes Ronnie will make some kind of a raffle, as the funds are already marked as "expenses" in the Cloudbet budget  ;D

Cloudbet already used some kind of that with Cloudbet's Super 6 Soccer Predictor Competition. In the end some unclaimed free spins were raffled between participants.

Yeah, I remember that from the Super 6 Soccer Predictor, however now we are only two left and we've picked the opposite winner so one of us will lose and the other will win. Just wondering what'll happen with the remaining cloud, hah.
