Title: Short-term or long-term investment?
Post by: indoagung88 on February 04, 2019, 08:53:06 PM
I want to invest with $ 2000, and I will choose 5 altcoins. Maybe one of them is Cardano. Is the short term more likely to gain profit or vice versa with the long term? Thank you.

Considering the state of the current market, only the experienced day traders can benefit from short term investment. If you are not good at day trading, they it would be better you buy and hold it for long term.

Everything has their own plus and minus, the most important thing for me is balance, divide the money into two, one in short term portfolio and the other in long term, because we can not authoritatively say that we have hit the bottom of he bear market, and if not a dump of BTC to $1k region will result in more than 50% loss in your portfolio

No, I disagree with you. Not only short even the long itself no longer profitable if you do not know how to read our current situation right now. We have no idea whether will we see another pump or recover again in the future or not.
for now, the best thing that we need to do is wait. Wait for the market to change or wait for the trend to change, it is not too late to join the train once everything goes back to normal, stay calm and wait for that moment.

What matters is to know when to get in and when to get out. Imagine people who bought BTC at around 5K, held it through the time it reached 20K up to the time it's now 3.5K... To me, I see this kind of thing poor planning. Have your target and once you hit it, don't be so greedy, cash out and live to trade another day

Short or medium term investment is much better, I could not agree if cardano will be included on your list consider it has lost its demand and i willl try to consider the new coin that gets a lot of transaction to be our next investment like BTT.

I do not recommend it for short-term investments because it will not make your investment better where the current market conditions are very uncertain, rarely do people get good profits in current short-term investments, yes, maybe they can turn around, maybe a lot is done by other investors is investing in a very long period of time until the conditions are better and more advanced than now in the future, indeed by buying now very well at a very cheap price like a very good cardano potentially will get better in the future, don't waste this opportunity and regret when prices start to rise, make the best use of it, like buying potentially good coins in the future.

Long term investment always helped us sustain the current bearish market, and could correct the discrepancies of unpredictable price trend. However, there's some scenario of day trading which always have gaining frequency sometimes when a certain coin demand will become uptrend.

at this rate, the situation is still not possible to take profits either short term or long term because now the market moves suddenly and tends to move downward. Not the coin problem chosen but indeed some will not be in accordance with the previous analysis

I personally prefer long-term investing in Bitcoin, because I can't master short-term trading, because I often make mistakes and result in losses that I get, so I prefer to hold my assets.

Cardano is not a bad choice.
For a long turn, I also would recommend you EOS and NPXS because they are having real ecosystems with a real products.
In short terms, you could try your luck with the BTT hype and try to make some quick money.

You have $2000 maybe if you want to pick short term, maybe with bigger percentage from all your money. if long term we look something that can gain bigger profit and if bigger capital in short term, we can gain big profit too.

Dear Op. It is hard to answer your question in short. Money grows like trees. Some trees grow better after you trim the tree. Some trees dont like trimming.
Long or short term investment depends on the criteria of your project and the then market situation. If your token has nice daily trading volume, high volatility and you have enough source to collect info about the project then short term investment is a great way. Everytime you cycle and recycle the money, money will grow.

If you want your profit in your daily life then short time investment will be the good idea or if you want to choose your investment for your future use are your next generation then it will be a long term investment is good for your life but both investment need more research and good choice so if you don't pick the right currency for investment then both are not profitable

Seeing the current market conditions is certainly difficult to expect to get profit if we only invest a short term, I will buy cheap coins and have good potential in the future like eos, ripple, stellar, nxt and waves.

It doesn't matter if it is short term or long term investment as long as you gain profits on your investment. And also include Ethereum (if it is not included) on your 5 altcoins that you're going to invest in. There's no need for long explanations but it will surely rise again at the near future as there are many projects that are using its platform.

If you consider the current market situation, definitely it is a good time to invest in long term market because almost all coin lost their value more than 90%. So, in the long term, those price will recover. So, it's better to invest for a long term now.

Short or long term in my opinion is relative because the benchmark in investment is our investment is a target profit that we will get. not just for a long time or just for a while

Find coins that have low correlation to the price of eth. This means ERC20 tokens are out of the question. I would suggest you buy litecoin as it seems profitable on the long run. Buy exrn if you are looking for short-term profit, needless to say that it's highly risky.

Cardano is potential coin and I think that is good for longterm. You can search for the 4 coins that you invested and better to invest is the cheap potential coin because you have only $200 in your pocket. Don't choose shorterm now because the best to choose is the longterm because of this market now.

You can divide your funds for two parts: one for long term and another for short term investment (i.e. 70/30). For long term choose Cardano and another trusted projects. And for short term try to make profits in more risky and volatile coins.

It's actually not possible to predict the success either in the long or short term, starting off with 2000  dollars is not such a bad idea and considering the fact you'll be diversifying it across different altcoins.in the short run you could gain one or two profits, but it will be more advisable if you can keep them all for the long run, then there are higher chances of more profits

What are you talking about? Do you even know how trading works buddy? Short term and Long term investing are different and you need to decide which is better for you based on your personal preferences.

Most people prefer short term trading in order to earn quick profits, but I personally don't prefer this and instead prefer long term trading since I can stay patient for a long period of time.

Fortunately $2000 is enough to invest partially in some top 5 or much better the top 20 altcoins that suits your desire. Additionally In my opinion the top altcoins are the most active coins with regards to trading and transactions history. The bottom altcoins are the less in demands. Choosing which is your altcoins pick is important to grab the right one.

Long-term retention has become more risky, of course this is the place to be, but in order to recoup the losses, and then with the advent of the bulls again go to the old strategy, you must first apply day trading and get good capital.

I think the short term investment would give you faster gains as long as you know how to predict short-term market pricing. You must not have a weak hand so you won't panic during abrupt rise and fall of market price. Long-term on the otherhand does not require you to closely monitor the market but wait later on when the project has developed and stabilized.

Short-term I would say that you're only likely to gain money by trading. I don't think we're starting a bull-run any time soon.

Long-term I think now is a good entry point, and prices for good coins - yes, Cardano amongst them - will rise. It is also worth considering other coins, ETH  as another smart contract platform, XRP as a faster payments solution, and BTC because it is most resistant to price drops.

In my opinion the optimal alignment is:
- short-term investments or trading, in top 50 cryptocurrency;
- long-term investments for tokens of projects that collected hard caps up to $ 20-30 million. I recommend taking them on the stock exchange after the completion of the ICO, in order to avoid risks.

It still all depends on how well the project is. There is no easy money, gaining at an instant means someone losses at an instant also. it better to check out what's better project out there. Most legit project takes time to realized its profit, still prefer to gain something in process. Since you decide to invest in multiple coin, I suggest you to store it safely. you can choose a multi-asset wallet like hodler which is the only open source one as of the moment. Good luck with your investment.

If you don't need the $2,000 for any future need, just an extra saving, then go on with your investment. For non-experienced traders, better to just buy then hold until the market goes up again. Long-term investment is more suitable for most investors right now. Think of this as a time deposit except for that there is monthly interest.

The current market state suggests that a short term trade is better than long term. But it is still a genius decision to have portions for long term period. What I personally do is I trade around 60% of my funds in short-term and the rest for longer period and I will change the strategy when the market state changes.

That depends on how the tide will go with the altcoins you are chosing and how much knowledge you have in trading. Long term investment are effective for those investors who make trading as a part time job while short term investments are effective for full time traders. They are both profitable but long term investment is more profitable depending on how the team will promote the project.

It all depends on your capabilities. If you have the opportunity to invest $2000 for a long time, you can conduct a similar experiment. But I think that we need to build a strategy based on the current situation in the cryptocurrency market. At the moment, there is a good opportunity to profitably form your portfolio and wait for bullrun to make a profit and revise the further plan of their actions.

Cardano will be a good choice for short-term and long-term investment. The other coins will be TRON, XRP, EOS, STELLAR, NEO, that is a low price of coins except for NEO because NEO is more than $5. Actually, there are too many potential coins you can buy for the investment, and in these situations, sometimes we are confusing to buy the coins. But I hope you can analyze by yourself and you don't need to follow my advice or other else before you make an analysis.

for now I prefer short term or maybe daily trading. Long-term holding is very unprofitable at the bear market. so it's better to sell when we have made a profit.

remember the longer we hold it will be more risky, the market may suddenly fall without us underlie. so it's better to be safe than trying to get big profits but at risk.

both are good, but my advice is better short term. remember the market is currently bad. Long term will only make you more worried about the market conditions. maybe there are still many good coins for long-term holdings such as bitcoin, ethereum and others. but that does not guarantee that there is no other fall before the big pump. so it's better to trade daily for this year.

Follow market movements and learn well to find the right coins for the long term and short-term investments. One of the steps must indeed be able to be studied properly so that it can reduce the risks that are large. I think all coins are good for investment if you can manage and use opportunities well.

A small portion of your portfolio can also be stable coin, It protects your investment but your profit might not be significant. The choice of where to invest is the toughest challenge of the space in the bear market. Bittorent that looks like the best ICO in recent days can be in a terrible dump in subsequent weeks. It is not pessimism,it is the nature of the market now. The only advantage now is buying at the bottom or close to the bottom, you risk for loss is very low

I want to invest with $ 2000, and I will choose 5 altcoins. Maybe one of them is Cardano. Is the short term more likely to gain profit or vice versa with the long term? Thank you.

I don't think that we have good coins that will be profitable in doing a short term investment as the market has lesser demand daily. If the price of bitcoin will dumps to a new bottom this will makes those many altcoins suffer more losses which is not good for those long term holder. Invest only to the amount that you can afford to hold longer until the bull run.

I think that if you invest in top10 altcoins you can do both... prices are very low so if market will rise again you can make short term profits and maybe sell just part of your gains and hold the other part for long term investment.

It is too difficult for you to invest in the short term in the current market. The market is too bad and goes down all the time, It's best to buy and hold for at least 3-6 months if you want to see some profit in your account

Actually it all depends on what you have planned. If you think about getting profits every day, of course you have to have a short-term investment. so that the funds can be quickly invested elsewhere. And if you invest in the long term, of course you think which coin is suitable for long-term investment.

If you are not experienced trader then I will say that buying and holding will be the best suite for you especially since the whole market is in a huge dip so it is a really good chance to pick up bags in some strong coins, there is a lot of strong coins in a dip right now besides Cardano I will not recommend any but you can simply make a fast search and you can easily come up with 5 coins and split your initial capital on them that will be better than put all in one basket.

Constant-term investment. Do not buy something and sell it right away, do not aim to be a day trader, day traders are people who work tirelessly to figure out which coin will be the best for that day and it takes a lot of experience and effort to be like them and even after all that they still fail sometimes. Do not buy a coin all at once and wait until it goes up, you can end up buying at the peak prices and hope it will return to those prices to just break even, it will not help you at all, it is not a good way.

Just invest periodically to couple coins and do not put all your money in there at once. Every month just put up a small portion of your money into the coins you like and do that constantly, that way if it goes up you will make profit and if it goes down you will buy more from cheaper prices.

From my point of view long term investment always gives good returns. There will be many ups and downs with the systems but long term period will recover everything. Long term duration also confirms the ability, reliability and flexibility of the token over other coins.
For short term investment, I still consider it as trading. Sure, short term investment can give good gains but also there are chancess of losses. If we have enough time to follow the market and enough money to trade and even to adopt losses, short term investment in not an bad option.

Short term trading is headache for inexperienced trader and mastering day trading is not easy in first year. Long term investing requires emotional control of yourself and minding your own business. Smart money flows to potential projects but not all projects are able to take this advantage.

Hopefully you haven't lost money in this market and caught with the cost dollar averaging mentality you are best to wait for run-ups and technical analysis definitely has a part to play and it really does even if the market is highly manipulated you work with the trend. You should practice TA have stops in place only invest small amounts of your $2000 the market isn't going anywhere any gains on your chosen coins will be for the short term. Take profits at 10, 15 and if lucky enough 20 percent. Long-term this bear market is expected to last if BTC stays above $3000 to November 2019 at least or longer don't be in a hurry to invest the full $2000!

basically the two methods will be able to provide you with profits, all depending on the coins and the strategies you choose to do. just clever you in making decisions to use short-term and long-term strategies.

My advice should be to use both of these strategies with the capital you have, look for coins that have the potential for large increases in the future as long-term investments and coins that have a fast movement for your short-term investment, so that the profits earned will be more big.

I am 100% in the long-term investment camp I do not have the time to invest in watching a trading screen for 10 hours a day and essentially playing Hi/Lo with my funds. If you have the patience then the long game is far less stressful and also less prone to errors and losses. You need to be disciplined however and stick to targets when it comes time to sell, or watch for problems to guard from losses.

In this market condition, I would rather do short trades than long trades. Hodling for a long time does not guarantee that you will earn a lot. I would rather target to earn 1% per day that think of earning 15% after a month of hodling your bought coin. Price of coins nowadays is just moving sideways. Price may jump a bit but not enough to make you want to sell right away, so just focus on hitting small profit. Its better than nothing.

If you want to invest in altcoins then you must be prepared to make a long-term investment. Altcoin prices usually move for a long period of time so that short-term investments are not suitable. cardano is one of the good coins, ranking 12 in the coinmarketcap is an illustration that cardano has received good support from the public. Don't hesitate to invest and make sure that you join the community that deals with the coin so that you will know the direction of the coin cardano movement better.

In fact, now there are mysterious things in the market, coins jump in price by huge percent, it seems to me that the market is very speculative. Some coin can give a good profit in short-term, but it's hard to select because we need to find out which coins that will increase later. Cardano is one of the coins that can bring a nice profit in short-term and long-term investment, but it depends on your strategy because the result will be different too. I think you should divide your money into 2 amounts. 1 for long-term investment and 1 for investment in ICO or short-term trading. Don't use all your money for long-term investment because it often makes you quite insecure. That is my experience.
There are currently many great ICO projects and you should invest in those projects right now. such as Beaxy, it's a pretty great project and it's establishing a quality trading platform. It is being evaluated that the ICO project has a great influence at the present time. You can experience the Beaxy trading floor and you have to scream because the interface is very nice.

Better to hold your fiat money rather than investing in crypto for now. Why? Well until now only bad news that appear to the surface so loss percentage is higher than profit percentage. But if you atill want to then don't invest in too many token so you can manage it

this question is always raised by people who are confused when going to invest, they always have between two choices between short and long term.
in fact, I can't advise you to invest in the short or long term. even with the current market.
the best choice is to ask your own self, where you are good at trading. according to the expertise you have. because it's useless if your expertise in the short term, but afraid, and choose the long term, surely your execution will not be good.

I want to invest with $ 2000, and I will choose 5 altcoins. Maybe one of them is Cardano. Is the short term more likely to gain profit or vice versa with the long term? Thank you.
Do you have bitcoin on your stash? if not, pick it first before the other altcoins but if you insist here are my picks.

  • Ethereum
  • Litecoin
  • Dogecoin
  • Monero
  • Grin

There are a lot of differences in doing long term investment and short term investment, it is the reason why you should know the best and suitable investment that you should use in order to earn profit. All of the investments here are risky so you should really know the fit investment to you.

it seems that the crypto industry is more suitable for long-term investment, because the extreme fluctuations in crypto prices are very risky if you want to get profit for the short term. for example in 2018, where during the past year there has been no increase at all until this year. that means we have to hodl for much longer.

These are two different types of investing. Short-term rather for traders, especially in a bear market. What concerns the long-term, then they include a wider range of people, because all you need is to choose the right assets.

- Indeed, holding cash for the moment is probably a better thing when everything that the market is doing is very bad for investment, each time buying is a loss, eespecially with long-term investments, many people have been waiting for a long time, many months have passed, their money has not recovered, psychological too much pressure and they ended up in huge losses. But as you say, if he still does not accept, he can participate in short-term investments, but should choose stable currencies, less and the quality is better than having too much but garbage

Be it a stock market, cryptocurrency or any other market, investment is beneficial only if it is done for a long period of time. Never buy at one single rate rather buy in chunks and its good to have a diverse portfolio that has many cryptocurrencies in it.

If you expect big profits, of course long-term investment is the right choice. But if you are really afraid of the risk of large losses and cannot be patient, then you have to make short-term investments, although fortunately it may be small but safer and far from the risk of heavy losses.

With the constant volatility of the cryptocurrency market, I currently prefer to invest in the long term.
Obviously, the cryptocurrency market is starting to grow after a serious fall, and promising coins can now be bought at an affordable price.
After the market has fully recovered, there is confidence that the coins will increase significantly in price and by selling them you can get a good profit.

Thank you for your advice, I understand that in the long or short term investment certainly has advantages and disadvantages in it. And that is something that is natural, and in fact must consider the general and broad market conditions. (50 / 50) Maybe it seems to divide up a good idea, but it's too difficult for me to choose a good altcoin for now.

Short term profit would be nice, but there is a little chance that an investor would cash out after a 10% of profit. This is a long-term game for me (maybe because I am young and I know that I will not be given any pension whatsoever) and I have a lot of time which I would like to use in a profitable manner. I would not look at the price and its ups and downs: if the team is active and doing their best, there is a hope for an insane spike if they are sucessful. Even though I am not into Cardano, I can not say it is a bad pick though. On the other hand, never put all your eggs into a single basket  ;). Focus on your main goal and ignore short-term patterns which will not mean a thing in 5-10 years. It might be worth zero as well, put there just some extra money and you can have fun with it, at the very least ;D.

But somehow if you were to invest during this market bearish season, just go long term!

Although we decide to use the short-term investment, we need to be careful to select the coins because there are too many coins that might be increased in the short time. But as long as we know how to pick the right coin, then it will no need to take a long time to see the investment will grow so we can sell the coin to take that profit. We need to think about what we will choose for the investment, and I think we can choose both short-term and long-term investment.

In period of uncertainty, short term investment is more logical to avoid excessive losses. The market has been bearish for a while and there's possibility of declining prices for cryptocurrency, long term investment could be frustrating, when the price cuts does not seem to stop. In my opinion, it's better to take profit in short term gradually while waiting for the bull run.

I think investment in the long term and short term also has the opportunity to get more profits, because now crypto prices are also still low, so I think we will also be better to survive in the long run.

I want to invest with $ 2000, and I will choose 5 altcoins. Maybe one of them is Cardano. Is the short term more likely to gain profit or vice versa with the long term? Thank you.

In my point of view of this matter, I think it just depend on which we are prefer to used. Someone feel comfortable to invest in long term that seem they don't want to get hassle keep watching the market time by time. Someone like to performed day trading because they think it is much easier way to earn profits and seen the had a passion on it.

Considering of this bad market now i would suggest the long term investment because it could give more time for your investment to make profit in the future, if you choose short term investment as of now i guess your capital will get loss.

Of course short-term investments are more likely to generate profits, but maybe what we get through short-term investments cannot be as large as the benefits we can get through long-term investments. But in my opinion, short-term investment is much safer and avoids the risk of large losses, while long-term investments seem to take a long time and contain the risk of very large losses.
You are right, the risk of short-term investment looks smaller if it must be compared to long-term risks. But for more profitable results, I think the longer term has better potential. And actually risk is always present in any investment. Thank you for your opinions and suggestions.

In all of the investments, long term basis is the most profitable. Just be sure the altcoins you jave chosen are legit or else you will regret it more if its long term. I also advise to have bitcoin in you even just a small amount. Its good to buy now that its cheap.
Yes, I really will buy bitcoin with a small amount because considering the price of bitcoin is still very expensive for me. Maybe I will buy 0.05 BTC. Only as a small investment to survive with the situation. But I know that bitcoin is the best. Thank you very much.

It depends upon the nature of the person, sommight hold the coins for long term and some might hold them for short term. There are some potential coins which we need to hold them for long term because we might see huge benefits for holding them in long term.

Cardano is a good coin to hold. But you have to be patient and might take a while for that to happen. As for me I prefer long term holding strategy. I am very busy and I don't have time to trade short term so I buy, keep and hodl for a long time

in this market i think the only way is to accumulate as many coins as you can and hold long term. just choose the coins you like and think are good and get as many as you can. this bear market is coming up to be the longest in the history of crypto. it will be a long time before we see the big gains again. and you want to be in the best position to take advantage of it when it does. most people in crypto have no patience for the long haul, these are the people who end up crying because they got fed up and sold too early. we old timers know that holding on will win out in the end. these lessons were learned the hard way, believe me

It depends on the project and what you mean by a short or long term. For example, Ethereum did not explode immediately, indeed for a long time the price remained static and low. If the project is valid, I believe in the long term.

If I were you, I would choose long-term investment and day trading.
With the market falling or stagnating, only day trading can make a profit.
As for long-term investment, it has good prospects for two reasons:
1. Now low prices and profitable to buy.
2. The market will ever start to grow and if you have time to wait for growth, then you can earn good money.

Long term investment it seems to be not effective right now or we might be not profitable for the current situation. As fluctuations arise and to unexpected market trend, we can't certainly knew a price for a certain coin years from now.
We can just hold to those coins that have potentials to grow or those coins that are supported by the investors just like Bitcoin, ETH and Ripple.

Market movement is telling that long investment is good but it will take very more time to move up in the trend. Short investment is good now but that is taking long time to move up and stable in the price is not short and movement is near by only one up down. Long investment is the best decision for big profit.

Well, short-term and expects that you can earn money within a week , but long-term can include a General loss of Deposit , then you need a competent approach to investing and I would not recommend if your Deposit is 2000 to invest 5 coins , you take 500 for long , and 1500 for short-term

You have a rather small amount that you want to invest, so in my opinion investments in such projects as cardano are not a very reasonable kind of investment because the profit will be rather small. If you want to increase your potential profit, it is better to deal with projects whose capitalization is several times smaller.

It seems to me that the ratio of the number of coins and the capitalization of the project should play an important role in choosing a project for investment. K The fact is that the price of the token greatly influences the overall form of capitalization, since the owner is not only investors.

Both type of investment is profitable if you have some knowledge of this market. I always prefer long or mid term investment. In this type of investment you dont have to put much time and if you pick some good coins then you have less risk factor. In my  opinion if you are in short term investment and if you pick good coins you still may have to pick some loss. The reason behind this short term profit is only make by the news or by the people or by the hype. So if you dont have that much knowledge about trading its better to do some long term investment. And  the next topic cardano is a good coin you can make both type of profit from them But cardano have a huge potential in longterm investment. You can start with 10-20% from your portfolio to play with trading. But its highly risky.

Cardano is a well-known project, but if your investment is only $ 2000 and you plan to invest in Cardano, then you should know that the maximum amount of profit that you can receive during this year may be very small, and it's can be not suitable for you. Therefore, perhaps you better look for some other coins.

That's a very difficult questions to answer nowadays mate, we can't be certain how long we can have patience at this very down market. Deciding to have long term investments is a good strategy to make, but only for those who have huge funds in their savings. Unlike for those people who only lived their lives through trading income, I don't think it will provide them daily sustainable income to supoort their families. It needs serious reviews before choosing long term investments, or maybe just have a halfway options to invest 50% of the assets you have to avoid worries.

I prefer to invest long term. Because we don't need to work every day to buy and sell our altcoins. We only need to buy and hold a few years, and when we find the right moment we will sell the bitcoin or altcoin that we have. So I prefer long-term investment, but short-term investment is also needed to make a profit every day even though it's small.

Yes, but you have to choose coin with good prospects for the long term. And you also have to look at the latest price from time to time, it's impossible for you to leave money without seeing progress.
