This is an exchange? What is the main selling point of this exchange comparing to what we have right now (e.g. Binance, Coinbase etc)? When is the launch date so we can check it out?

Yup, it's a derivative exchange that offers perpetual contracts with up to 100x leverage. Binance and Coinbase are spot exchanges, while ArcaFX is a futures exchange that facilitate the trading of contracts. The exchange is scheduled to launch in late March, approximately 1 week away.

About the selling point, this exchange will issue its own native token called ARCA. With it, ArcaFX employs a unique economic model, in that it will use a sizable portion of the revenue from transaction fees to buy back tokens. In other words, this means that token holders are subject to exchange buybacks, and could potentially profit from the buyback by holding tokens.

I read in the medium article that you will be doing buyback of tokens, how is this arranged? And how often is this buyback gonna take place?

Yes, the exchange will be conducting token buyback. Tokens bought will be burned, so as to reduce the circulating supply.
Our platform has a spot exchange, and token holders can place sell order on the spot exchange for BTC.

The buyback is subject to liquidity of the exchange. The exchange will buy ARCA tokens from the orderbook of the spot, from token holders.

So that means if i manage to win in this contest and get some ARCA, i will have to place the sell orders for ARCA in the spot exchange?

Yes, if you get your ARCA tokens from the contest, you can sell it on ArcaFX spot exchange. That said, the details on how to acquire ARCA tokens will be released in the coming weeks. So the contest is just the first way of getting ARCA tokens. More to come!

Lol, why do buyback?

Bbuyback because the observation is that tokens with buyback mechanisms have outperformed other economic models, in terms of financial returns and engagement. In ArcaFX case, a portion of the revenue will be allocates to buyback tokens to burn.

As an example, supposed that the starting rate of the token is $1 and there are 10 tokens in circulation. One day, the exchange gains $100 in trading revenue, and spends 50% of it ($50) to buyback existing tokens. When the exchange uses $50 to buy back 10 units of tokens in circulation, the worth of one token increases to $5. Of course, this is a simple illustration of buyback scheme, but the idea behind it should be consistent with our implementation.

At the time of writing, there are a lot of utility tokens that have yet to deliver, and token holders are the ultimate victims of such failures. Unlike them, ArcaFX wants to differentiate from others by implementing a proven and functional token model that allows holders to reap the benefits of holding.

Total supply of ARCA token is 10 billion units.

So of the 10 billion tokens that will be minted, 2 billion out for public circulation. The remaining will be vested over the next 2 years to encourage adoption.

What tokens will be supported on launch?

Hey, no worries. ArcaFX will have 2 products to begin with, perpetual swap and spot exchange. For perpetual swap, it'll be BTC/USD contracts in the first phase. For this product, the contracts can leverage up to 100x. More contracts would be added subsequently.

The spot exchange will be a platform for ARCA/BTC pair, so that the exchange can purchase ARCA tokens from holders through the buyback scheme. No other tokens will be supported during our initial phase.

What is perpetual swap? so I can buy bitcoin with what currency? is there fiat deposit?

Perpetual swap is a form of derivatives. It's much like futures, and it allows for leveraged positions, with the main difference being the absence of contract expiration. So, traders can keep trading the contracts.

And not, Bitcoin is the only currency for our perpetual contracts, no other currencies involved.

When listing of ARCA at other markets sir?

ARCA tokens will not be listed on other exchanges. That said, the token will be deposited to account in the exchange upon registration.

We don't have a whitepaper. We will maintain a reference library to consolidate all the important information. The decision to do with a reference library rather than a whitepaper, is that it is easier to maintain so that we can ensure that the information that is going out to the public is up-to-date.

Yes, you will still get the token. The way the campaign is structured is such that the top referrers will be getting the majority of the prize pool, while a smaller pool is allocated for everyone who have participated in the contest.

But whitepaper gives a fixed reference - how do I know you don't change the calculation? I think I found the right blogpost with the details for the token, but it seems not official like whitepaper.

Just an opinion, many ICO projects used their whitepaper to raise fund and the content rarely gets updated after the crowdfunding stage is over, i would personally prefer a project to churn out consistent updates over official channels than having just a white paper though

There could be a few reasons for this.

1) Give it around 30 mins for the backend to update and refresh to check the points again.

Personally I can see the rise of derivatives in general, for crypto it is more apparent this year, we can see many new exchanges popping up since late last year to do futures etc. Even major exchanges like Kraken, Bibox etc are also starting to do futures. Definitely a trend not to be ignored
